What exact errors do you get when you go into IE and msn? Timeouts, 404's, the application caused an error in explorer[Caution: ExecutableFile] and needs to be shut down?

Most likely, unless you use special features that are only avaliable in 2003 ;) You could always file-> save as Powerpoint 2000 or whatever. Alternitively, install thison the school pc's (assuming you have installation rights.)

Dude! :evil: You have NOT got the latest windows updates. You need to download ALL of them. The most important one is called serive pack 2. If internet explorer will not work for you in regular mode, restart your pc in safe mode by repeatedly pressing f8 during startup. Then try windowsupdate to get the updates. Again, I need more information about your problems with MSN and IE, "it wont connect or something" is just not good enough! :roll:

Go to http://www.windowsupdate.com in IE and if it says no more updates are avaliable, post another hijackthis log. What exactly are the problems with IE and MSN messenger? Have you got the latest version of messenger? (7)

You don't need to reformat, you need to update! http://www.windowsupdate.com :!: When firefox says "Profile in use" hit ctrl+alt+del and end task on any currently running Firefox processes. I've no idea about the backwards text, try reverting to the default theme and uninstalling your extensions and see if it goes back to normal. Otherwise, create a new blank firefox profile - does it still happen?

Hmm that's odd. Does the window close if you minimize it with just regular web pages open? Do you have the latest windows udpates and the latest version of Firefox? (No hannibal, I mean 1.0.3, not the latest nightly) :P

Did you even bother to read the tech faq on runescape.com? You need ports 43594 and 43595. Work is so named for a reason.

After checking to see if it's any of you extensions but before reinstalling Firefox I suggest creating a new profile, here's a chat log of me explaining to a guy how to do it. Sorry it's kinda messy, I'll write it up into a proper guide sometime soon :P

When you say what you thought was relevant, did you edit the log at all? If you did, then please post back with the unedited log. If you didn't, then is chariot your ISP? If you didn't edit the log, and chariot are your ISP, then I'm very sorry I have absolutely no idea what on earth is stopping you :P Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance :( :-?

I always use notepad for doing minor edits and whatnot, but WYSIWYG is sooo much easier for tables! Merc, I'm very dissapointed in you!

I'm running out of ideas mate :P Post a Hijackthis log just incase you have some malware that's affecting your internet access.

For locking folders: Control panel -> User accounts. Make the first user an administrator, this is called the root account and can access everything. Any further admin accounts created can view all accounts' files (including other admins) except the root account. Regular users can only view their own files. Then password protect your account so noone can log in as you and you're set :)

I use NVU- it's a free open source WYSIWYG web authoring system. It also conforms to web standards, which is very important (frontpage does not do this, not sure about dreamweaver.) You should also learn some of the basics of php and xhtml, as this will enable you to actually understand what's going on in the code ;)

Rightio, well i have NIS 2004. What version do you have? Have you tried it with ad blocking disabled? Sometimes this accidentally blocks some stuff/cookies that it shouldn't. Have you tried it with Privacy Control disabled? Sometimes this picks up some items in the URL that by chance match some of your private info and decides to block it automatically. Have you tried it with Parental Control disabled? I've never used this, so I don't know much about it.

Okay I've done a bit of reading for you and from what I can see it's pretty difficult to do this :-? Firstly, you have to obtain a database backup from InvisionFree, and despite their being free, this costs money. There should be a button in the admin control panel called database backup or something that should provide you with some info on how much this will cost you. Next, I think you have to do some complex editing to the databases because InvisionFree is odd. I also read that one person skipped this step and used the database to create a new IPB forum on the trial version of the software. Then after that you have to use the IPB -> PHPBB converter to actually convert the board. Complex eh? :P I do however strongly reccomend moving to phpbb, as it's far better and has many more features. Additionally, if you move to phpbb and host it yourself, you get full database access so you'll never have these problems again :P You could just create a new phpbb forum and tell your members that the old posts are at your invisionfree board. Most of your active clan members will register on the new boards in less than a week and after a month things will be prettymuch back to normal. You can copy and paste the bbcode from the important topics on invision (stickies, rules etc.) into your new board and while there'll initially be quite a few people going back to the old board to get topics, after a while this will die down.
