  1. Because Korasi special is awesome in multi. If you're worried about claws, go to the high risk world. They'll have to risk their claws to claw rush you. Yes, a 100% accurate attack that hits through melee prayer is pretty good, actually. And I don't doubt for a minute they'd risk claws. Uhh... did you forget the part that in multi, it only hits like 200 damage? And then bounces onto your team mates? And yes, they'd risk claws. But then some people will go after them for their claws. And so on, and so on.

  3. "OMG ONLY BOTS USE BASIC MATH AND CALCULATOSR WTF???" - Golvellius "herp derp" - Golvellius Lol'd irl. I'll get back on topic though... What's the deal with Curses/Prayers arguement now? It's been a few weeks since I've been to Nex, and people were hellbent on the idea that Prayers were far better than Curses. Any confirmation/speculation? Well, the reason that people were hellbent on the idea that prayers were superior is that a few players started a rumor that Nex's soul split only heals on people with Ancient Curses, not those using normal prayers. There were also rumors that leech didn't work because Nex supported Zaros so there's no reason Zaros would help you against her. On one hand, leech prayers definitely do work. It clearly gives you the messages and your stats increase. Decreases in Nex's stats aren't quite as noticeable but they're probably there, too. On the other hand, people who used Statius War Hammer noticed that her defense would revert to normal after every phase. This implies that her stats in general get reset, meaning that having additional leechers is probably ineffective. I'm pretty sure you want at least one person leeching defense (you won't be using Statius War Hammer or BGS, as the special energy is better used for Dragon Claws / Vesta Longsword). Asides from that, the question is whether you prefer 20% Ranged and 23% Strength, or 5-10% Attack and 32.9% Strength. Both options have their merits. Dragon Claw benefits immensely from the extra strength. Especially if your team is small and you can't reliably instantly finish her smoke phase, you'll drastically reduce the amount of damage you take. Chaotic Maul, and Vesta's Longsword to a certain extent, benefit less from the strength (although they do still hit higher on average). Diamond Bolts definitely benefit from Rigour. Ruby Bolts still benefit, but like C Maul and VLS, it's probably a lesser benefit. Soul Split can also be quite effective during the last phase, as Nex tends to focus on one player, then switch. If you have ~500 LP left when she switches, you can easily save a whole brew by soul splitting from there. I guess the real question is whether the "Nex healing on curses" myth is true. I can't tell it from the videos, honestly, which is why I'm still hoping for confirmation either way. If the myth is false, I think a mix of Rigour and Turmoil is ideal. If the myth is true, it's pretty clear that you want the whole team using Rigour.
  4. Nex. You do not want to try Rapier on Nex. *Shudders*
  5. You're correct, in this particular case it is indeed wise to bring the urns, it results in an increase of +-1240xp. If you would have to rebank for extra urns each hour like you said (not everyone does farm runs), it would probably result in less xp/hour. Since you probably catch four or more rocktails in the time to bank + run back to LRC. 4 Urns = 7,600 experience. I'm pretty sure I can do an extra deposit box run, teleport, and come back before you can catch 20 Rocktails.
  6. I didn't say that the item is common. I said the drop rate is probably higher than people give it credit for, because the items are definitely being brought into the game.
  7. Really? I've seen at least two. One guy was wearing Torva Plate + Blue Partyhat while fishing at LRC on world 77. Didn't pay too much attention to him but he was 138. Another was a Zaryte Bow at the Dueling Arena. Also, you see several on RSOF in portraits (not sure if that really counts). I expect you can see them in W2 Grand Exchange too, or wherever else trade happens a lot.
  8. Does anyone know what curses really do to Nex yet? Early on, some people (notably, Stokenut) were reporting that Nex's soul split didn't heal when everyone used normal prayers, but I tested that with several TIFers, and she still healed even though everyone in the room had normal prayers activated. However, when we tested afterwards with Curses, she seemed to heal slightly more. It could also have been because she was randomly hitting harder on our second trip, but after watching two trio vids where everyone used normal prayers, I'm not sure what to think. A Jagex Mod specifically said on the forums that prayer books have no effect on Nex, but he could easily be misinformed, or talking about the wrong prayer books (Holy Book, Unholy Book, etc). EDIT: Nex 4-man, early on, with curses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r6BWPr9MtM Two Nex trios with normal prayers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDaJe6cF5L8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR3ADttmSwM I'm not seeing much of a difference personally, but I'd love another opinion on this, because I keep seeing comments on those videos along the lines of "They use normal prays so Nex doesn't heal" and so on, and it seems Stokenut and Woox definitely believe it. That, or they decided Rigour + Piety outweighs Leech Ranged/Defense + Turmoil.
  9. Sorry, typo. Meant SS: Spellbook Swap. Swap to Ancient, Lassar Teleport puts you on Ice mountain. Monastery works too but I'm too lazy to recharge them or keep items of multiple charge amounts in my bank.
  10. Still, you need to rebank quicker and you loose the benefit of the granite lobster which boosts your lvl AND fishes for you. You catch a grand total of like 100 Rocktails in the duration of a Granite Lobster. Fishing Rod + Minerals + 4 urns = You need to make 5 bank trips. Don't bring the urns, and you make 4 bank trips. So you save a whopping 30 seconds by not using the Urns throughout the life of a Granite lobster. Sure, you wouldn't want to camp for 4 lobsters with urns, but it's not like it's hard to get back to LRC (SSS -> Lassar -> a minute's walk). I tele after about an hour of fishing anyways to do an Herb run.
  11. Are we remembering the same GWD? When GWD came out, Saradomin GWD in particular was brutal. Kill count easily took 20-30 minutes. If you were lucky, the trip would last almost that long, because we didn't have Terrorbirds to replenish our energy, or rest options. No one even really had Godswords yet. Also, why does everyone say Nex has a lower drop rate? I've been seeing abundant Nex drops since day 1. Unlike Corporeal Beast - we didn't even really confirm that sigils came from it for a week or two. Within the first three days of Nex: 1) Brio_X here on TIF got a Torva Plate, which he traded for a Torva Helm 2) One of my friends was at a mass, and missed a Virtus Mask 3) Another of my friends was with a small LS team, and missed a Virtus Skirt/Legs 4) A picture of Pernix Top being LSed was posted on Zybez 5) I personally teamed with someone with a Zaryte Bow. He got it by trading a Pernix top that he got in a previous trip. Not the same person as the one on Zybez. 6) Someone put up a video of testing a Zaryte Bow. It was not the same as the person I was with. 7) Some merchant was running around wearing full Torva, that he had to buy from somewhere. Nex drops really aren't as rare as people make them out to be, especially when there's 10 distinct drops.
  12. Aren't these urns completely useless in mining 77-99? You waste one spot for the urn + a spot for runes + a lava titan (since you have to take a yak or another bob with you, packed with urns). -> a loss of 2 inv spots AND no lava titan. Same logic applies for fishing cavefish/rocktail. Since ivy is #1 for woodcutting and urns don't work at this, more or less useless for this skill too? Agility and hunter aren't included (2 skills where banking is less of an issue imo) so that means this update has 0 use for me. Great. <_< People using mousekeys have an even greater advantage now. Have you actually fished Rocktails? The deposit box is like 15 seconds away. I usually don't even catch a rocktail in those 15 seconds.
  13. Essentially, yes. Her magic attack rarely, if ever, misses. Her melee attack misses uncommonly, but noticeably. Sacrificing melee defense for ranged defense seems kind of an odd choice. Honestly, risk doesn't bother me. At one point I was tempted to wear a set of Armadyl blessed D'hide and join the teams that required Karils/Arma. Karils has its uses, but I'm not sure Nex is one of them. This. If you don't have at least max cash, you ain't Nexxin, son. At least not more than one kill. o.O That's going a bit far I'd say. I've never had more than a 400m cash pile, and I'm only recently passing 2B bank value, but I've hunted Nex several times. Other than Pernix / more Chaotics, I have pretty much everything I need too... Nex is actually a boss which is a challenge.. like 2005 Jad challenging. Not really. She's actually not very difficult to anyone who's got a good amount of experience with faster-paced games. The hardest part is finding a good and trustworthy team to go with. :\

  15. I guess this is sort of blasphemous, as Black D'hide is generally considered welfare, but I honestly think it's as good of a choice as Karils is. 1) They both have the same ranged attack. Neither penalize your melee attack. 2) Karils has slightly better magic and ranged defense. Black D'hide has a very slight edge in melee defense. 3) All of Nex's attacks are very accurate. Nex uses ranged only during the Shadow phase, but uses melee attacks and magic attacks throughout the fight. Her mages also use magical attacks, but I'm pretty sure they're negated by prayer. From here on I really only have personal observations to go by. I don't remember her ranged or magic attacks ever missing me. It's possible I didn't notice in the heat of the moment. However, I've watched several Nex videos, and I've noticed a similar trend with other players. On the other hand, Nex's melee attacks have definitely missed me a few times. Not very often, but at least once or twice per kill. Not only that, but she has a tendency of focusing on one player using several melee attacks during her last phase. I feel that choosing Karils over black dragonhide is like using magic defense to stop Disrupt. The effects are pretty much non-existent. On the other hand, the melee defense might make a difference. Nex's normal attacks don't do enough for soak to matter, either. Maybe this is only applicable when you're wearing a Divine (which seems to act before soak, making Soak useless until the monster does at least 285). Her special attacks ignore both Divine and Soak, to my knowledge. I can understand requiring Karils with a public team, to root out someone with high levels and utterly no experience and isn't willing to risk anything. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that there really isn't any benefit in wearing Karils or D'hide in terms of actual combat.
  16. The kill count should take 15 minutes max with your stats. It's about the same speed as Sara and Arma KC.
  17. Hard=long ;). You can't have a hard boss that dies fast. You could, but it would more be like a heavy damaging boss that a few claw specs could kill. Nex requires much strategy. These are new drops. I think you are all just mad that you can't join in and get the drops and sell them for 1b. This is what the community wanted. A clan boss. It seems fine to me. You can easily create a boss that can die fast, yet is still hard. Just because Jagex hasn't done so doesn't mean it's not possible.
  18. I guess this is sort of relevant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDaJe6cF5L8
  19. Fixed that for you. It's not even about being efficient. Nex is so powerful compared to what's available to us now that you need to have top tier skills and equipment to even consider trying to kill her (unless you're going with a massive team just for the experience value, and even then, it's been proven that a massive team of low level players doesn't necessarily work). A bunch of low levels would just hit a stream of 0's Ever been to castle wars, a level 120+ gets stacked on by a bunch of 70-80's all you see is 0's and maybe a few 1's and 2's (HP not LP) (Not saying that 70's and 80's are teaming against nex just that a comparative low level vs high level thing was appropriate) Okay, misinterpretation. By low level I mean someone over level 125, but doesn't have Overloads, Yak, and top-tier gear. If you're level 70 or 80 you probably won't survive kill count. >.<

  21. What if what if what if they use their head? What if we stop catering to illiterate 10 year olds?Stupid thread is stupid. Tif is going the way of zybez. Yes because you need to be an illiterate 10 year old to quickly decide to turn the warning off when you go to an area you never normally use and never plan to ever use again. Then when there a year or so later, not knowing the area, you get tricked into going in. Yes, people like you may drag the forum down to the status of others if you can give no consideration whatsoever for another person. I am not saying these people are blameless, but there can be situations in which they were not total idiots like many people seem to immediately think. You can't turn the warning off if you're just visiting an area you never normally use and never plan to ever use again. Like any other warning in this game, the option to turn it off does not appear until the third or fourth time you're presented the warning (can't remember exactly how many times). For anyone to actually turn the warning off means he or she has seen the warning at least three times. The purpose of forcing players to see the warning this many times is so that they will only turn it off if it's an area they have been to several times, and thus knows the risks of by the time they're choosing to turn it off. I'm sorry, but I can't think of any situation in which someone who falls for this is not a total idiot, because only a total idiot would disable a warning that he or she does not remember, or fail to read a warning that Jagex has placed over the area. Honestly, however you try to spin it, anyone who falls for this lure either acted like a complete idiot when they fell for the lure, or acted like a complete idiot months/years ago, and the consequences haven't caught up to them until just now. The scammer is at fault - he always is to blame. But when people make very dumb mistakes, they occasionally have to pay a price for it - that's how they learn not to make those mistakes again. And it's honestly not too hard for a scammer to rationalize his actions to himself when their victim acted as foolish as the victim would have to act for their scam to work.
  22. Then you brought it on yourself entirely by disabling a warning that you saw several times and somehow still could not remember. Warnings are there for a reason. The disable option is for people who have seen it several times, remember it, and do not need it anymore. If you weren't absolutely 100% sure you were going to remember it, then it shouldn't be disabled unless you share accounts with someone, bought your account, or otherwise had something on your account occur without your knowledge.
  23. Honestly, if someone can fail to read a huge pop-up sign that says DON'T GO IN HERE YOU LOSE YOUR ITEMS WHEN YOU DIE, it's pretty easy to just imagine that it's a cardboard prop on the other end, with a monkey hopping on the keyboard.
  24. Are you implying that the average scaper is someone who can neither read nor think? No, seriously. I'd like to think the "average scaper," whatever the hell that really means, is a little bit smarter than that...
