End of the dry spell wooohooo
Well I have just returned to RS from a 8 month break (was deployed to Iraq) and have been slaying for last 3 weeks, on my way down the long forever road to 99 slayer. In the last 3 weeks I have had 17 abby assignments, numbering between 147 and 196 from shilo village master. Not one whip drop, it rained rune meds and chains, but no whip. So I high alched my wealth, made ten new ones and before each of the last 7 assignments, I swapped them out.....nothing. So I got task number 18 of abbys (196) today, after doing 192 black demons. first 50 abbys; 2 rune chains, one rune medium, lev 3 clue, and... a whip *blinks*...*stares hard at screen*....."Wooot!" about freaking time. You see, last year before I deployed, I gave my whip to my wife (RL not RS), thinking that when I returned, I'd go slap around a few hundred abbys and get myself another....nope...try over 3k abbys to get another (on task). *dances* \ so the end of a dry spell....anyone else have similar strries when you're trying for a particular item? especially the whip? Did the drop rate change? or is it the normal randomness of the game? :uhh: anyway, it made my freaking day. EDIT: ROFL, I went and did my clue (got rune junk) and came back to finish the last of the abbys I was assigned, 45 abbys later...WHIP!.....OMG. :XD:

Do you actully collect your own raw materials?
ppl who "power buy" their way to 99 in stats such as fletch and cook get lop sided stats. i fletch what I cut, then I alch it with nats I make. I DO buy the essence, and I do buy the string because I hate gathering both of those. BUt now that string is averaging 200 gp ea *gags* I might have to go to elfland where their is a flax patch literally 3 steps from bank window, and spin it in lumbry *shivers at thought*, just as soon as I get through the remainder of the 6k strings I have. oh that reminds me, I have had 9k cut yew longs collecting dust for almost a year...maybe I should string em.... I hate fishing and cooking, so When I run low on groceries, I go catch a couple hundred and cook them, and go back to training...so I have cooked everything I have ever fished. Which is why I have sad fish and cook levs lol. stats like herby and rc, you just HAVE to buy herbs and utilize RC runners to get 99s in that...if not it would take forever to get 99 crafting them yourself. I have never used runners, which is why I have a very low RC lev.

*!* Slayer Task = Better Drops *!*
same, in the last 3 weeks i have had 17 abby tasks, which adds up to about 3k abbys, not one single whip drop, and I even made a new wealth before each of the last 7 abby tasks...no whip now when it comes to metals, back in the day when I was pounding them every night on a weekly basis, I averaged 2 drops a week, with a personal best of 4 drops one week, 2 of which were 4 drags apart. Never on task back then, just did them relentlessly using prayer and melee. Always dropped legs and skirts for me. I got my very fist d med from an iron, while on task last week, and have only gotten one dragon half shield, and that was on task (dont remember which monster). so who knows, its all random.

DARK BOW NERFED! (?)
well, yesterday I was doing a clue, it had me do an emote wearing particular items at the chaos altar at level 12 wildy, eastside. I meandered over wearing my typical anti pker outfit; Blk hide body and legs, barrows gloves, farseer, blue mystic boots, legends, DDS, Sara book and carrying; sara pot, super attk, super str, d Scimmy, elf crystal, clue stuff, 50 rune poisoned darts and rest sharks. Just as I was ready to don the goofy stuff the emote clue required, along comes a level 120 (name withheld, but I looked him up afterwards, and he had 99 range) and a level 108. The level 120 hits me with a dark bow spec....8-8, as I pot and feed him a double spec from the dds (0-26)he hits me with a 21, I feed him two more double specs (25-18) and (23-0) he teles, I turned to his buddy and he teles......hmmm now my range def was around 113 (going from memory) and i wasnt using prayer yet.......now at least I know I stand a chance out there doing my clues....bring it. :XD: :ohnoes:

Abbysals and Nechs
Not really. My friend got 3 whips in one slayer task of about 160 a day or two ago. If they tampered with the drop rate, then he may have only gotten 1. Just finished abby task number 17 (ranging from 147-186 or so per task), this is over the last 3 weeks of slaying...no whip yet. love it. It has been raining rune meds tho :P

Everyone wants a dragon pick, right?
Nah, i don't think that will ever happen, I think it will be just like the Dragon axe, it will only look good and won't be much faster to mine than with the Rune pickaxe. yup, I agree. The dragon axe cuts justa wee bit faster then rune, because I am sure JAGEX was in tune with woodcutters concerns about the perceived end of the woodcutting world, if the dragon axe was released. It was released, the world didnt end, and it DOES cut faster, but not enough to "ruin" or drastically change the RS economy. IMHO the dragon pickaxe would closely replicate this. It would pick a slight percentage faster then the rune one, look pretty, and maybe even have a cute little special to use against the rock monsters that pop up. Not the end of the world. I dont mine, but someday intend to :) maybe by then it will be out.

Dark Bow vid.
I agree, I can not stand range, as is obvious by my pitiful range level, and I don't PK or Stake (have never done either one), but it does seem like the triangle is now balanced the way it is supposed to be. High range owns Mage, Mage owns Melee, Melee owns range. I was a little worried when this was released due to the only time I skip through the wildy is when I am doing a clue, and I typically wear anti mage (blk hide, mystic boots, far seer, legends, phoenix necklace, Ring of life etc and carry DDS, sara book and 50 poisoned rune darts, sara pot, sup attack and sup str, elf crystal for one click tele, clue crap and sharks......and the thought of being spec'd to almost dead by a dark bow before i have time to do a whole lot of anything is perplexing. Before I was never was too concerned about being pked, but now......so maybe i need to change my anti pker, doing clue outfit a bit.....or not...hmmmm

Abbysals and Nechs
over last 18 days I have done 14 abby tasks, in fact I just got assigned another 147, and will do it tonight after work....no whips. Speaking of which, I have only gotten one whip drop since I made 85 and I have killed thousands. I even made a new wealth prior to each of the last 8 assignments of abbies...no drop. oh well.

Combat or Skill, Which do you prefer?
*points to siggie* combat jockey, made 100 in under 4 months, 123 in 12 months and 125 at 20 months. did some skilling long the way so it CAN be done a LOT faster of course, but I do consider myself a combat jockey :) this is my stat shot (siggie minus the 4 mil exp i got in last week) after 20 months of playing, was deployed to Iraq for 8 months, so didn't have any play time. I am back though, watch out :) well put, thats how i saw it also, high combat makes everything else easier.

85 - 90 slayer: who's making the jump?
well i decided to stop camping at abbies a week before i even heard about the update, just got 86 2 days ago, will prob be 87 this week. Wasting time training agility to 71 for shortcuts, doing a few quests to be able to get monkfish and some other sorted stuff. doubt I will make the gravy train, but no biggie, I suspect the gold rush will slow down, but not go away, like the whip ;)

Baggy pants background
I just know from experience from skating that wearing them so that the seam of the back of them doesn't contour your butt makes it easier to pick your legs up and pull them towards you. If you wear them on your hips correctly, they'll pull and tighten up at a certain point and it makes it harder. :P And I'm judging by the OP's comment (chasing down people) that he's a cop...You shouldn't talk. Your pants don't even reach your shoes. You look like someone who grew 5 inches overnight and didn't notice. It's okay though, I like laughing at cops pants. It's pretty much the #1 reason I'd never be a cop. Your pants suck. um okay...my pants fit, it's called getting the right size. don't know what your going on about there, but whatever floats your boat. its not the baggy comfortable look most teens like that i have a problem with, its the gheto looking pants below your behind, with shirt tucked into the underwear, and the whole butt area exposed thing that makes me laugh....dumb.

Baggy pants background
lol like i said, to each their own, looks hilarious to me, especially when i see grown men wear them like that.

Baggy pants background
For all the wannabe gangstas who think they look uber cool when they wear pants 3 times to big, and low sling them below their wagons, exposing their underwear covered behind; The background for this laughable "fashion" statement of the new generation is it started in west coast USA prisons. In prison, some inmates would wear their prison pants low, and tie their pants real tight, so as to uplift and expose their underwear covered behind. (think wonderbra effect for hind parts) This was done to advertise to other inmates that they were "available" for loving...to put it nicely. This was thought to visually stimulate the other inmates into finding them "attractive". Then some rap wannabe went and visited his brother in prison, saw the "style" and thought it was gangsta cool, wore it in a MTV rap video...voila...new fashion craze. The funniest thing to me, is not only do they not know they look foolish, but they are unknowingly promoting that they are of the ..um...alternative lifestlye choice. Not a single girl I have ever talked to, finds it cool or attractive, just dumb. So why do it? I love it when the suspect I am chasing is wearing baggy low slung pants, makes it sooooo much easier to catch his punk behind, and slam him on the ground, for some much need attention. So my questions to you are: Do you "bag"? if so why? If you are a girl, do you think baggy pants with the hiney showing is cool or attractive on a guy? if so why, if not why? opinions......? thoughts?.....

Silly Detention.
Exact thoughts yup, isn't it always amazing how the continual rule breakers whine the loudest with indignation when they get caught...."man, rules are stupid, why can't I do/wear and act like I want?"......imagine trying to teach a classroom full of know-it-all, testosterone filled, wannabe tough guys who think class is a drag, and want to listen to MP3 players and bag their pants down below their butt to look "cool"....or try teaching in a school where there are no dress codes and built like brick craphouse girls are wearing look-at-my-goodies clothes...like you can concentrate on class while she is sitting over there in her mini skirt and stacked bra.....or wannabe gangsters bagging clothes and wearing hoodies distracting everyone...causing more aggravation in the class then their worth, unfortunately taking them out back and whooping their wagon isn't legal...anymore. and vodka, what were you thinking...ahhhh you weren't, thats the point.
-
IF you were there would you have done?
...let me see if I got this right, your lil friend did something stupid or wrong (because in reality people don't get verbally counseled by teachers because they were innocently walking down the hall) and was being verbally disciplined, and you "bravely" leaped into a puddle, splashing dirty water on him, then allegedly did a "leg sweep" aka like a ninja turtle...and he didnt see you....and you (if it even happened) think this is cool? If you had tripped me (hard to believe) I am sure I would have saw you, then I would have lost my job as a teacher because I would have snatched your skinny wagon up by your neck and stuffed you into a locker.

The war in iraq, What do you think we should do?
You're neglecting the fact that we have four or five media conglomerates that control pretty much all the information we receive - and these conglomerates are all controlled to either a large extent or at least some extent by political motives. There would be no Woodward and Bernstein kind of coverage going on today. True, the biggest problem is each major news conglomerate is either leaning far left or far right, and it is easily identified as such by how they present news, and which video clips they decide to chop and show, the better to push their own political agendas. Foxnews: high and right (hoo-yaah) NBC limp and leaning hard left. Now as a hard core militant conservative Republican, I choose to watch Fox news, but even I dont like how they spin things sometimes to blame everything on the spineless, love-thy-terrorist-and-illegal immigrants-Democrats. Neither do I appreciate how NBC news spins everything the opposite direction. However if you monitor both, and read down the middle, you get a idea of what's really going on. Either way, between the two sides, all the story tends to get out. UNlike some countries who control what gets printed, and what gets viewed. We can't hide crap in our country, if we could do you think we would have allowed the embarrassment of Monika Lewinsky to be publisized? Let alone the never ending media hunt for dirt against anyone in power. WHich as much as I hate the media, it is a neccessary evil to keep things fair with checks and balances. American Media single handedly does more political damage to America then all of our enemies combined. I especially love how they point out our military and infastructure weakness, as our enemies unblinkingly watch. How they interview retired Generals on military strategies AS we are making an invasion to Kuwait. Gotta love the pics of the enemy generals watching CNN to find out what we were doing, play by play. How they were showing all kinds of bright ideas on how to cripple America by poisoning the water supply, standing next to main piping vents, pointing out which windows on the White house were penetrable by small arms fire, explaining how easy and how devastating a dirty bomb would be to key position in our major cities...I am sure our enemies have thanked Allah for our media daily. Just like as a Reserve police officer, I hate having to worry about cell phone cameras, because irregardless how by the book you are, anyone can take any video, and cut and chop, or show just a few seconds of it to give the perception they want to give, rather then the whole story. BUT, again, it is neccessary, due to the very small percentage of truly abusive cops, who need to be identified and imprisoned. But looking over your shoulder while doing your police duties is a dangerous position to be in, as is having to second guess everyhting you and your "suspect" is doing....such is life.

The war in iraq, What do you think we should do?
Almost every western country would have most of the materials or at least the ability to build them if they wanted to. I'd like to get a source to tell how close where they now and what kinds of materials were found. Also what about Israel for example? They've also broken many human rights and they now got nukes. Read some basics of war , Sun Tzu's art of war is a good example. It's easier to make the country your satellite than totally occupy it. Totally occupying it would require too many human lives, cash and the country would end up being more unstable than Windows Vista. The Soviet Union had pretty much the same stratey: first "free" the country, then set up a new goverment which is loyal to them and then take all the advantages as possible from the people. In ww2 they for example sent out millions of people from other nations than russians. Why do you think those Iraq soldiers were trained? To get a cheap and loyal armed forces there. love the conspiracy theories, but I understand how people can think that way. unfortunately we are not Soviet Union, nor are we Nazi Germany...not how we operate....want an example...look at Japan, not only did we rebuild them, they are now a thriving country who owns half of America, and builds the world's most reliable cars and electronics. Pity we didn't truly "occupy" them, or bleed their bank accounts dry. It does the entire peace loving world great service if we can make these idiots put down their AK-47s and embrace a democratic system. Not because it is our system, but because it serves the people best, and they will not continue to be the world's "hot spot". Although I doubt that will ever happen, religious fanatics can't get beyond their brain washing to understand that their way of living isn't the most effective. Proof? they have been killing each other for thousands of years. As some of the oldest civilizations, they should be the world's most powerful, rich and stable. Unlike America, which has only been around 200+ years, and we are the world's most powerful and rich. WHy? because we appreciate the individuals rights, encourage freedom of thought, assist in the development of individuals businesses, etc...not take control of everything. DO we have corrupt politicians? of course, everyone does. Difference in our society is we have tons of watchdog organizations, who live to find dirt on politicians, from the President on down. We have slimy media types who will dig into anybody's life for a quick story, and revel on making the rich and powerful look bad. That's a good thing overall though, keeps the major pieces of crap from getting away with it for to long. Do we expect some type of kick backs from freeing a country of a murderous regime? Of course, wouldn't you? We aren't spending 600+ billion dollars just for the good Karma.

Scientology : Cult or Religion?
Well I generally find religion and cults are for the weak minded, who need some kind of mental crutch to lean on to get through life. But whatever floats your boat. To each their own and all that. Now as laughable as the backgrounds of most religions are, this one takes the cake hands down. There is like multiple training sessions one must go through to work your way up to total enlightenment *giggles*, and of course you pay more and more for each level. Last time I researched this "religion" it was like $240k USD by the time you reach the final level. This is mandatory so that when you read the sacred final document, you mind doesnt explode or whatever the BS is they say. ...um heres a hint, you can find the final document (dont rememeber what it's called) on google, it was scanned and placed there long ago...I read it, and I didnt drop dead, but I tell you what, whatever he was smoking was some good stuff. Never laughed that hard when reading religious documents before in my life. Bible was a close second for laughs; Love the world wide flood which killed all things, ooops wait a minute, that allegedly happened 5,000 years ago.....hmmmmm the Eygptians were a flourishing and powerful culture then, wonder how they survived the world wide flood...they didnt die, and still exist today...wonders never cease :XD: Scientology.....number one idiotic cult.

Armless, One Legged Man In A Car Chase Escapes Police.
I like Jacksonville.. Is it just me or does Jacksonville show up on Cops quite a bit? Yeah we are one of the main cities they shoot in. We have three times the national average for murders, and currently have a 350+ police officer shortage. Unfotunately we have major drug transactions going on, with I95 going through the city, it is the main drug vein of the east coast. Drugs from miami to canada and vice versa. joyous. NO wonder they want me to retire from the military and come work full time for them.
