HAH! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6449199.stm Like I said earlier, he had no right to call it immoral, although I did understand where he was coming from with a few of his comments.

How does a gay person who pays taxes and works and does everything else you do, qualify as a "criminal"? How does he compare to a murderer or robber? Doesn't he rather improve your chances of reproducing since you're not gay? You are missing the point. I'm not saying that homosexuals are criminals. I'm just pointing out that if we are suppose to be accepting of everyone that includes criminals.. Are you sure? "homosexuality is a crime against humanity" is what you said. All of those other crimes you listed are crimes against humanity...and so I understand how bluelancer thought as he did. Gays are hardly committing a crime. They can't help it, it's just an orientation they have just like you are attracted to women. How do I know this? I've met several gay people in my life, and many of them would love to be straight but that's simply not the case. Not to mention...it doesn't harm anyone. The absolute WORST that could happen is that you get hit on by a homo, but all you have to do is say sorry man, I'm into women, and then move on with your life. Being homosexual doesn't harm anyone at all. Oh, and for some reason, (this may not apply to you) I always see pictures of gay men on tv when talking about homosexuality. For some reason men feel threatened. But then they see some homosexual women making out and they get turned on...they don't care about the principle, they just feel like their masculinity is threatened, which would lead one to think that those who speak out against homosexuality aren't as entirely sure in their sexuality as men who don't care or accept it.

While he can have his own opinions, he hardly has ground to call it immoral. Morality is so incredibly relative. Personally, I don't live by morals. I live by something that goes a little like "don't be an [wagon]" and don't do crap that people wouldn't appreciate you doing... it's as simple as that.

We as humans define truth now? Ok, I can work with that (for now). But that makes your definition obsolete. You only need justification and belief. What happened to truth? I could just save you the time and come to the conclusion that knowledge doesn't exist. Or we can go with what I originally said. Knowledge isn't truth. Knowledge isn't *always* "truth" in the wholistic sense. Knowledge is often bits and pieces which, when put together, create a truth. Quite often, people who say knowledge isn't truth are unaware of wording. For example, while the statement "the sky is blue" isn't necessarily truth, the statement "the sky appears to be blue to me" is a truth. And knowledge does exist in our current form. It does not exist if you consider nothing to be for certain, let alone consciousness or the universe/existence itself. You guys are arguing in circles because you aren't seeing one another's basic, root viewpoint. I hope that helped...

It's not the end at all. There's a 1,000 more youtubes who all happen to be smaller, and thus the largest of the video hosting sites is the one which must take the blame. It's not a fad, and it's here to stay. They'll learn to live with it someday.

You watched him die? You didn't help him in any way? You just stood at the foot of his bed and watched him decay? That's cruel. :notalk: He could have had cancer? He could have died of too many complications? Dude, there was nothing he could do. At least he was there when his grandfather died...probably with his family, to comfort him.

There's another program called slickrun that I use, basically does the same thing... I like it because it's simpler/smaller. http://bayden.com/SlickRun/ <--More info there.

And Parabola hits the nail on the head. XplsvBam argues details, but avoids the big picture at all costs. And I could argue that just about anything in your life is "taking over" your life... it's just such a ridiculous thing to say that.

Haha funny. If all I saw was "rhubarb rhubarb" I wouldn't have aced my 4 semesters of Physics . Anyways your answer to what causes the attraction of masses is gravity. Which is validated through scientific circular reasoning. My answer is God. Ah, I see your point XplsvBam. However, you are flawed. You expect everything to be able to be related to one root cause, in your case God. The reason you say science is circular is because the question "What is gravity? The attraction of masses to each other. Why are masses attracted to each other? Because of gravity". I think that is what you are saying. Well, here's the deal. In WORDS you are correct with what we are saying. The thing with science is that we simply don't know everything! There are so many examples of other things which we can (almost) fully explain without the use of circular logic. Science evolves and grows. Science has allowed us to understand gravity, develop equations, know how it affects our universe, and much more. God hasn't done jack for us (recently, at least...), so we turn to science to understand our universe. Sure, we could be happy believing in religion and God and go on living our happy lives. But for some of us, God isn't enough. It's not enough to just believe in the bible and go to church every Sunday (or whatever it is you do). Some of us want to know more, and we want to explore. Science seems to be one of the better ways to objectively study the universe. Subjective study of the universe is included in philosophy through poetry, art, essays, etc. Science is not the only thing that seeks truth outside the bible. So please, XplsvBam, while you may believe in religion, do not belittle science's attempts to understand the universe. It has done so much more for humanity than religion ever has.

A life without curiousity and questions is a wasted life. I believe the quote you are looking for is: "The unexamined life is not worth living." -Socrates

Man, I just had a test in Morality on poverty in the US... I don't care if I love America or that I'm a US citizen, we're doing a terrible job in regards to the poor and the stupid expanding division between them and the rich. I mean, to throw out one of the random percentages I had to know, 1% of the population in America holds over 38% of the wealth currently -.- . I also frikking hate how our politicians seem to think that snuffing out welfare is actually a good thing -.- . Right, but did you also know that the top 7% highest income earners in the US paid 51 percent of total U.S. income taxes. The top 3% pay 40%. The top 0.8% pay 26%. The top 0.05% pay 10%. The top 50% pay 96% of the taxes... (this last one according to a semi-biased source, but I'll put it here anyway) However, I cannot disagree that the wealthy are indeed getting wealthier every year in comparison to the poorest, and we don't notice because most things get cheaper as the years go by... so they live with the same standards while the standards of those with more money continue to rise. Tbh, billionaires wouldn't be so bad if they actually spent their money instead of just hoarding it...I know this sounds sort of weird, but you can compare it to the RS economy and the rich there in some ways. Also, intelligence/education has the MOST to do with how much you make. If you have even average intelligence, you are COMPLETELY capable of not remaining in poverty. Education allows you to see this and act upon it, something which is lacked in East St. Louis, one of the poorest (if not THE) cities in the US, where, for some reason unknown to me, people continue to live even though area is horrible. Now, I know there are people who lack intelligence and education, but I'm not sure they can expect to receive more when they contribute less...but I do agree that we do have an obligation to help them out... You can live well if you try and if you hold a steady job. Hell, my older half brother has worked at Max & Erma's for 3 years and he's making $15 per hour with options to continue going up in ranks making more, although he plans on actually using his college education soon for a "real" job and leaving Max & Erma's. (My dad's only paid for his college education, nothing else) And yes, he lives on his own and he's never had to use government financial aid... he's just smart with his money and lives humbly.

The USA It's not one country...you can go to so many different areas within the country and see COMPLETELY different life styles. You can live in (almost) every climate you can imagine with (almost) any culture you can think of! Honestly it's not all that bad. When people criticize the US, they criticize only a small portion of a much larger, more diverse picture! I guess if you're old, Canada's socialized medicine might be nice... Otherwise one of the Scandinavian countries...because they have some English there too. Britain's just too boring for me.

I'm still wondering....what's the attack speed of this anchor.

Ah yes...there are certain songs that immediately create images of rsc and earlier rs2 in my head when I hear them. Godsmack always reminds me of rsc, especially their song voodoo. Some of the early NIN like PHM remind me of when rs2 came out. Whenever I hear Manson I think of when I killed 1,000's of green dragons before they became popular... Oh there's so many. But so you all know, Nine Inch Nails is fantastic music to listen to while playing runescape.

You need not say anything at all. Why post if you don't know what you're talking about? This is example of someone who posts on every topic even if it isn't contributing anything to the thread just for post count/recognition /rantoff Apologies to Celt and whoever else reads this Anyways, someone said oil companies pay other companies to stop researching alternate forms of energy on here earlier. Is that true? I find that kind of hard to believe. FYI, I do know what I am talking about. The economy is trash. Capitalism is such an unstable thing. It should be replaced by a newer system (no not communism or socialism, those are unstable too). The problem is not capitalism. It is the capitalists. Without capitalism you don't have capitalists. Not entirely...you won't have people practicing capitalism, if that's what you mean. There will always be people who support it. But yes, part of capitalism is going up and down, powers shifting, "progress" being made. It gives freedom for such things as economic downturns and likewise periods of extremely rapid growth (just think the 90's). I used to be really into socialism, and then I researched the topic a bit more...I've gained an appreciation for what capitalism can do. Believe it or not, the way the government in the US does it now works quite well (They regulate business instead of owning many of them like in socialism). There are pro's and con's to both... My only big big complain is the medical system and the drug companies, only one of which can really be dealt with. People just abuse the system so much it's incredible.

They will always go around in circles when one side refuses to see reason and when one or both sides go off topic all the time, or bring in "evidence" that is completely irrelevant and unsupported. As a matter of fact, I had a post on page 12 that pretty well summed up this thread. One guy said my view was "interesting", and then they ignored me and went back to fighting. Well, I tried.

They feel safe expressing their thoughts/feelings here. Trust me, if you knew how many people think about suicide in real life without you ever knowing...you'd be surprised. The internet's just more open, and people feel safe coming here because they know that someone here might care and the person won't have to deal personally with any unpleasant reactions from people on the forum, unlike real life family members or friends. But yeah, I see your point. The only thing is...would you really want to lock all the threads? (of which there haven't been THAT many lately) Would you want to risk pushing that person over the edge or not giving that last inspirational bit of will to survive? It's a dilemma, in a way...

No see, when you yawn, you pull on the muscles to allow your ear drums to equalize. I simply don't have to yawn, and I can pull on those muscles farther than you can by yawning, so it's more effective. :) I wish I could explain it to you better...

A good replacement for the over-used lol would be "heh" or "hehe" or "haha", as in something that's amusing but not worth actually laughing out loud over. Otherwise, I tend to agree with you...although I have to say the word shortenings do have a purpose. So yeah... ttyl lol. w/e :)
-
Or you can be like me and gain control over the muscles that pull on that part of your ear. I can pop my ears on will. :) No silly tricks necessary...I can't even describe how I do it tbh. However, it's nice since it works every time no matter what, and it is instant.

What about the really good things? :D But to be constructive...watch this 45 minute documentary. "Invisible Children" http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... e+children

Congratulations, you've begun questioning the world around you. :) Well, I'm not in the mood to type a novel for you. However, I can say that after having thought more than most people ever do and knowing about a rather large number of schools of thought... There's one thing I can tell you. Living is the better option because you are alive, and because there is possibility. Treat life as an adventure, or a quest perhaps. It's the adventure that matters, not the end result. :) Even if you don't know why you should live now, you may in the future...you will learn a lot of things.

What skill have you gained the least/most amount of levels?
gonpost replied to DarkDude's topic in General Discussion
Mining... I went from level 85 to 86. There's not much of a point in getting it higher, and it takes much longer than it did in rsc, so I don't train it at all any more. Probably won't either. -
Don't believe any of the absolute CRAP the media is saying about video games. Read this, from Penny Arcade. I'm going to post the whole letter here because I think it's that valuable. Oh and it's not "sports killing". Bloody media is at it again. People have been doing this kind of stuff for a long time. The media just felt like making this a big issue now because they needed something to talk about. God I can't stand them. Anyway, the message is to Gabe, one of the head guys at PA. "Gabe, Your news post about the kids and the homeless man yesterday made me sick to my stomach, before I even read the CNN article. I knew what it was going to be about before even reading the article. It was not the article itself, or even your post that made me sick, it was the fact that I know this boy. Or, rather that I could be considered one of the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åparents̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
