  1. Kind of ironic, as the picture isn't loading for me :D
  2. Perhaps; But the reason I added it, was to back up the little scenario I played out near the end of my article... Yes, the ties that bind might be secundairy or flimsy, and yes I understand how it might be percieved as irrelevant... That does not subtract anything from the possibility of the described scenario playing out the way I think it will, as these "not-closely-related companies" are exactly the kind of fodder commonly used by Goldman and such...
  3. Would this solve something? Wherever you see a player that has bought spins in person, highscores, forums, ingame, etc... They are "tagged"... Wether they have a blue face, an icon over their head or near their name, you name it... That way; you can see that some of thier achievements, aren't exactly legit...
  4. Careful now... These beggars may soon have money of their own... And then they could be giving it away to other beggars! AND THEN WE WONT KNOW WHO'S A BEGGAR AND WHO IS NOT!@!@! EVEN YOUR BEST FRIEND, WHO'S HAD LOADS OF MONEY SINCE YOU MET HIM COULD BE A BEGGAR@!@!@! [/southpark]
  5. Mass unsubscription only works if you can set a large example, and convince everyone that it's ok to enjoy the F2P game for a while (can still get DG tokens  )... On top of that, you'll also have more success of everyone cancels their subscription over a set period of time, say, the three months that span finals and summer holiday break...
  6. Some Like it Cold Mistaken identity comedy, a piece of wartime camp. 1Öth Annïversary Edition. Elementary penguin singing Hari Krishna , B2 + C2 + D2 = CCC in BS. Stars: Danny DeVito, Namor, Tom, Dick and Harry. Narrated by Morgan Freeman. Namor the Sub-Mariner is a fictional comic book character in the Marvel Comics universe... Danny DeVito played the Penguin in Batman Returns... In 3rd Rock from the Sun the three alien characters posing as male humans took "Tom", "Dick" and "Harry" as given names... Although Tom Dick and Harry is often means "just about anyone/everyone" (quite literally) BS... Battleship? B2, C2 and D2 seem to be coordinates, but I'm at a loss as to what CCC means... Hari Krishna is misspelled and should be Hare Krishna, although in the mantra "Hare" can be interpreted as the vocative of Hari, another name of Vishnu meaning "he who removes illusion"... Morgan Freeman narrated "War of the worlds" and "March of the Penguins"...
  7. I'm particularly interested if the Juna response to a possible return of Zaros means anything... I cannot find what she means in that little tale of hers, so that probably means there's a hidden message... Also... B2 + C2 + D2 = CCC in BS No idea...
  8. @CookMePlox You are correct... I understand it was a bit of a leap, but knowing how Goldman and Citigroup (and other such insitutions) operate, I came up with this hypothetical scenario... No, GS and CG do not influence updates of RuneScape, at least not to the large extend... But things soch as those gimmicks you spoke of, and that SoF are indeed a direct result of them demanding a higher returns on their investments... The hyopthetical comes in when Jagex fails to return as much money as they had hoped... You spoke of the other games; Insight will have high hopes for that, especially Transformers... But it could fizzle out, as it's been a trilogy already, and almost year since the last of those three movies came out... If Transformers is successful; I doubt it will be for very long, in which case the scenario I painted becomes significantly more likely... Now for the bit where you're probably wrong: Way up there at the top; everyone knows everyone... It's like a club that never meets, never talks, but everyone knows what everyone wants; and that is more money... They didn't hesitate to plunge half the world into a massive crisis to get well over $700 billion (700,000,000,000) in taxpayer money, and that is just the US alone... Do you really think they'll think even once about liquidating a company if it suits their needs? There's quite a list of scandals on GS' wiki page... And that is just the stuff that they don't even bother denying anymore... You might think that there's little connection between GS, CG, and the US Govt (mostly Bush and Clinton administration, I'll admit). But knowing that these people are no strangers to bribing congressmen, as well as sitting in executive govt positions both before and after they've had a stint at GS and CG, just to change rules to their needs, tells you that "not-affiliated" doesn't mean anything... I'll recommend again to watch "Capitalism: a love story" here. Personally, I've had the DVD for a while now, but I must've lended it out over a dozen times already...
  9. Report those to tripsis please... There shouldn't be any, tbh...
  10. ...Whaaaaaaaat. I'm late to the party, but I'll respond to this quote nonetheless: Precisely. If it was noted to be ironic, I'd laugh - but considering the serious tone, I'd facepalm at TS being so naive/oblivious. It's not some final insult, it was released as a tongue-in-cheek remark in response to those who asserted that RuneScape is/would die. Well it was meant as a joke, as this little note thing has been in RuneScape for ages, but only now seems vaguely relevant... How have I deliberately mis-informed? You're asking for details, but you give none yourself... I can tell you, however, that the article has indeed been read by not only people from the Editorial Panel, but from my clan as well who then give me some feedback... I've not cited any laws, I merely submitted to my readers that, considering it is a game of chance, and that, for example the Dutch courts, have placed value on virtual items, this SoF thing could be considered gambling in some countries... I've deliberately stopped short of listing the countries where the gambling age is higher than the audience that RuneScape is aimed at, because adults play this game as well... If I had to go into full detail on every country (or even every single state in the U.S.) where SoF is considered gambling, this would've stopped being a read for entertainment long ago... An indication would indeed be useful. In fact, in my article I mention the lack of information thereof quite clearly... The fact that you seem to have missed that, tells me you didn't bother to read the article thoroughly enough, hence I place no value on your given score at all... I'll do that when I stop being awesome
  11. 40 pages till this got Godwin-ed, not bad :)
  12. Beggars and scammers are really, and I do mean REALLY the least of RS's problems... They might get into your way; so move somewhere else... The people that spam can be ignored, and you can still trade in places where this minority is almost non-existant... They might actually succeed in begging, good show for them, but the overall trend is that noone gives out money like that; so eventually the beggar gets wise, and moves on... To scamming perhaps... Scammers are a neccisary evil... Being scammed builds character... You might quit over losing your hard earned fortune, or you might not, but it ends up that you learn that this is just a game, and that fortune can be rebuilt... You are, however, wiser one more lesson in life that not everyone has your best interest at heart... Considering the game is aimed at teenagers; I think it's a perfect time AND place for them to learn that lesson, rather than being talked into financing a house you can't possibly pay by Countrywide...
  13. Thank you :) I knew there was a reason why I lasted for four years at the Times :P (which is today, see link in my sig)
  14. http://forum.tip.it/topic/310102-tipit-times-8th-april-2012/ I named my article Steal of Fortune :D
  15. @SOF I Quit: You should wait for the article I have coming out this sunday... Another one? Yes, 3 in 3 weeks... But if my Steal of Fortune article boiled your blood and broke your heart, this one will finish you off by blowing your mind...
  16. Wow, the sarcasm is hardly noticable... :D
  17. ^That bit on the wiki page is considered vandalism and has been repeatedly attempted to put in since the april 2nd Steal of Fortune update... Don't expect a company that intents on making money off of the demise of Jagex to advertise it...
  18. TBH; this is but a tip of the iceberg... Expect a follow-up on this article, because this no longer concerns just the game of runescape... EDIT: Now that the article is written; I can honestly say that it is one to look out for...
  19. I think there's another element to DIY-ing... I think, that gathering almost everything yourself provides you with a sense that in this never-stands-still game could be the island of peace for you... Think of how fast updates follow one another, and how that can affect XP-rates or prices of products... Or how about the fluctuations of the market itself... No, I think that gathering these products yourself, you'll know how long it might take you, you know how much it will cost you in the end (very little, ofc), and above all; you know how much you're getting out of it... A sense of security in this ever changing game is, to some people, worth far more than a few GP or a slightly faster XP-rate... This is just as big a reason for some people, just as fun is for others...
  20. Feel free to tell the good people here what you told me... They will all be better for it if they knew this tidbit of information :)
  21. And yet, they only changed the rules found on their pages when people had thrown their own definition in their faces numerous times...
  22. Tripsis, Jonanananas: Watch the movie Capitalism; a love story... A very popular thing to do atm with your money to make more money is doing the most destructive thing you can imagine: 1. Take over company 2. Maximize short-term profits by doing: a. making the company as "efficient and competative as possible" by selling off unneeded equipment and firing redundant staff b. increase prices of products while ever so slightly reduce the quality (read: cost) 3. Drive up share prices by convincing the outside world that the company is now doing better than ever before 4. Wholesale sell-off of parts if not the whole thing 5. Profit nope, no questionmarks... In the end you're left with a company that is in ruins and has had little to no benefit from the temporary injection of money form investors...
  23. The additional difference here is that with SoF, you can only win virtual items. Ah, right. I see. Well played  http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/02/02/runescape-gaming-theft-du_n_1250126.html Jagex is done for... The most important bit: I kind of messed up my post back then by putting in the wrong link... :???: The right one is in there now...
