  1. *SHOCK AND HORROR* No! Really? An ad? OMG, in P2P as well? Told you so...
  2. Let's make wild guesses what nearly-unobtainable items they'll add to the wheel. My guess is 200M (fake) gold that can use an emote where you roll around in the money to get a faux experience of what Jagex has with the wheel itself. Probably not too far off :) "Win a fortune on the Squeal of Fortune! Squeal as you roll around in a large pile of coins that may or may not be yours!" Anywho, "Players since launch" is another gross overestimation, as Jagex knows full well that most of those accounts never played RuneScape, or were not played by actual people... I've started to wonder if Jagex has developped something of an inferiority complex... It's kind of like someone constantly saying how big their penis is... Chances are, if you have to say it, it's probably not true... So too in this case, I see little reason for Jagex to come with this little chest-thumping of theirs, other than for promotional purposes or some made-up headline. Especially when they made little to no fuss at all about their first 100m players... I fear It's probably worse, and it isn't an inferiority complex... Ever hit a wall before in your work, and don't know how to proceed? Pretty soon results are demanded by your bosses, and the obvious choice is to point to some minor or irrelevant progress that you did make... I think that something similar is happening here... It'll pick up soon, it's only early morning in China atm :) Your best bet is to look after 24 hours, and extrapolate from those numbers instead...
  3. True, Muggi, I was actually being sarcastic with one of those... (hint, its the one in quotes :P) TBSH; I've found that spins on F2P have VERY different results than those on P2P... Much more "rare members-only items" are hit on F2P... Which is why you cannot spin there as a member and have to switch servers... Bought spins seem to have different results than non bought spins as well, although the margins on that are only a few percent points... Not sure if earned spins are generating different results than daily-free spins... Conclusion: we know the wheel is not only misrepresenting the odds, but is rigged as well... I would just love to see how loaded the dice are on each side and maybe find out the reasoming behind it...
  4. You do know that there are a whole bunch more reasons to not like the SoF, right? Buyability of spins is but one issue...
  5. I thought that this one was more appropriate... Aptly describes Jagex... CLICKY
  6. SnipLooks like you are one of the very few who can intellectually argue FOR the SoF... Kudos to you, as you'll meet a lot of opposition... And I'm one of those... The buyability of spins (and therefore XP/cash, however small amounts) is one issue, but it is one of many: -It doesn't fit in the game, RS-universe wise -It's an advertisement you can't escape, even on P2P, due to it re-appearing every time you log in/hop worlds -It plays on people's sensitivities to gambling, especially with younger players -It's RWT, even though you get a bad deal -It's in every single aspect of RuneScape, save for Trading -It's rigged -It's misrepresenting the odds -It's being lied and bullcrapped about by J-mods -It's feedback is ignored or interpreted completely the wrong way -It's obvious far more of this crap is to come -The Rules of RS were changed, just for the SoF Now, on to your points: People spin to get rid of the ad. I X ads away, does that mean that, cuz I visit the site a lot that gives me the ad that I like the ad? I do'nt think so... jagex engineered this to be as in-your-face as possible, without stepping over the line... "Unfortunately, it is those that figure out how little cheese people will accept on their pizza that get rich" <--- remember that quote... "The only players that would complain about a free 10,000 exp lamp are those who bought and or trained for their levels". You forget the large amount of players who play RS to actually, you know, play RS... it is not those who trained it, but also those who WANT to train it... 75 spins will fill most of your inventory with small and medium lamps (this was from before the upping of the rewards)... You can buy 900 spins a day now... I agree, it's a very bad deal, as a little chinese kid will make your account have much more GP and XP for much less dollars, but this way Jagex cannot ban you... Veterans complain because they worked for it, and rightly so... EVEN an AFK-able skill as Runecrafting has become with the runespan, still means going to the runespan, getting a bunch of runes so you can travel to the correct island, and spending time there clicking the right nodes... AKA work... With the SoF all you need to do is spamclick that red button... You may disagree with these counterpoints, but the vast majority of RS appears to agree with me... Although I doubt this will be a majority much longer, as many are quitting...
  7. ^You forget, Jagex is going to be sold in 2013 ;) And yes, if it weren't for the smiley face, you can pull a Poe's Law on this one
  8. Indeed... Anything you say that Jagex will do something one day that they said they'll never do, people will almost instantly defend with "No, cuz Jagex said they'd never bring back the wild/introduce new rares/introduce rwt/introduce the dragon kite/platebody/etc"... This pretty much proves that untrustworthy Jagex is untrustworthy...
  9. I'm paraphrasing here but: "If this isn't the final straw, then what will be? Cuz at this rate there is an entire hay bale still to come..." :-w
  10. I hate to say I told you so... But I did bloody tell you... And we have our first sucker ¬_¬
  11. My bad, then... But your response went from criticising my article to criticising a type of people... Not hard to see why I made the mistake there that it was directed at me :) As for the hatred towards the SoF, you're not exactly right... Yes I hate it, but only because I know what it represents... My fear is that too few people know this with me...
  12. @Ambler: Every skill going up to 120 would sell a lot more lamps spins, wouldn't you agree? I had hoped it was implied that they'll probably do combat skills first, to make the transition of other skill to 120 go down more easily... @cultjunky: I think you meant Chicken Little. But you're right. The SoF isnt the end. It's just a change that a LOT of people don't want to see because it's every more obvious which way the game is evolving. 30 seconds or not, it's still an ad, and I don't want to see that crap on P2P, ever. Also your argument that this boosts new players through the lower levels is also flawed, as this is a game that doesn't have unlimited levels, and ever higher equipment, meaning that, when you have hit the ceiling, everyone else starts to catch up. You then go on to asume that I am some kind of fundamental-elitist that I want everyone to play the game I started playing in 2001 or something. I'll go and ignore that bit of gibberish as you have probably not looked at my levels. For someone who has been playing as long as I have, and the only achievement cape gotten is the Quest cape, I'm the LAST one who can be blamed for wanting the game the way it was in 2006... @darthaddict: Rant or not, if my point is valid, I can write it out in whatever manner I see fit. Clearly you do NOT read the RSOF, because my article is quite eloquent in comparisson to some of the other 10k posts made by people expressing and explaining their massive dislike for the SoF. And No, I have not quit :) (not yet anyways) @Lep1423: Very good point, one I addressed in my article of two months ago :) Then again, the wheel on F2P seems rather a lot more inclined to give you said valuable members object, than the wheel on P2P... @Deaths Near: you are one of the few who are willing to put up with X-ing that thing away every time you enter a new world, and I commend you for it. I can fully admit that I don't have the mental stamina to do that every single damn time. @NukeMarine: I agree that the SoF is actually dangerously close to RWT, and that is probably the worst feature of it. I wanted to point out in this article, however, how gambling addiction patterns are abused to get people to actually buy spins. When you see everything end-to-end, it pretty much expains why there almost hasn't been a week without the update to the SoF, and that is the attempt to play on people's senstivity towards gambling. @Aceethan: In an article here a few lines were editted (removed) stating very clearly that Jagex still objected to micro transactions. This editting was done a mere 4 or 5 days before the buyable spins were introduced (I mentioned this in the article). Believe it or not, but Mod Mark is probably also just taking orders... Far-fetched? Maybe... Illogical? Probably not... Free stuff, exactly, that is exactly the reason why 90% (let's asume it's a real statistic) spin what they can... But Jagex is using everyone that spins their free things to implement ever more ways to get us to buy stuff... @RS_Completed (and Aceethan as well): Not caring what the rest of the community does is what got us in this micro transaction quagmire in the first place. This is still a Multiplayer game, even though it has stopped feeling like that in 2008. Not caring is what happened in MapleStory, and that is now solely played by people who buy their way up the ladder. Is this where you want RS to go as well? @deskjethp: Glad you liked it, but I was trying to be serious :S Only did the humor bit in it to make it slightly less rant-ish... Oh well :\ @Cheat: Ok you guys have got to re-define your definition of a rant, because in my eyes that is an un-researched, un-eloquent heap of literal or verbal diarhea... And my article was far from that... Yes, I may seem angry and even bitter when you read the article, but so far, I've had good reason for it... Once again; I'm not predicting the end of RS... I'm predicting the end of RS as the vast majority of the community knows and likes it, even though its a gradual process... If you call that a Doomsday article, then just about every single critical reaction to an update is a Doomsday response... @brunokiller: Spot on. Yes, I still play RS, because I hope for the best, and have up until a few weeks ago been able to ignore the aspects of RS I didn't like... But the ad-like nature of the SoF is changing that... But as a writer of these articles, I feel it is my responsability to share any insights I have with regards to the game, especially since I've been around this little barbeque for a while and can see where we've been... I'll leave the happy-go-lucky articles to my fellow writers who aren't as "skeptical" as I am...
  13. Zamorak is a false user, as would Lucien and yourself be... But Saradomin is an actual god instead of a false one...
  14. oeh :D Even more cannonfodder for me to use... Once again; Tip.it Times, June 3rd, be there, or be oddly evensided and rectangular...
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww3nbrwpcVY TBH, its old but ever more relevant...
  16. What is people issues with the lamps? Do you not like getting the lamps instead of the 50 gp spins? If people want to pay for 99 in a skill via SoF, good for them. You shouldn't be angry at these people just because they have the extra money to spend on the wheel when you won't. Correct... I'm pissed at Jagex for making it possible in the first place... Tip.it Times, June 3rd... Be there, or be square (that goes for you too, Jagex)...
  17. Exactly... They went from gamblin-ish to full blown RWT on this one... Should it be a coincidence that my next article on this subject was to come out with the next issue? More fodder to shoot with rly...
  18. ^Only if you already have the money... So; not make it faster, but make it cheaper/less clicky?
  19. So; whats there to gain from this then? A sneak peak that we alread got? I thought this Jubilee thing was going to be the cryptic cluefest thing tbh...
  20. Grot = cave Worm = wurm Blatant misuse of Dutch tbh... Anywho; these worms examine tells us they morph into something else; any ideas?
