~PokeVentures
I was on the can a few weeks ago trying to get my signature right on the back of my trainer card (an impossible feat, let me say), and the stylus dropped straight through my legs into... Well, it wasn't pleasant. I had to fish it out with a pair of tongs and wash both the tongs and the stylus for about 15 minutes. For some reason, a lot of people I talk to with a DS have had this experience before, lol. It would seem we aren't the only ones. Are you considering a replacement?

stoverijsaus (banned) and 3Njoy--lumby: stakes, pks, crap
An interesting read, but yeah, at the moment this is more of a blog. Add more kills. :P Personally, if I were training a pure's range I'd head to Rogue's den and buy ~500k bronze knives for about 7m (make sure they're still 14 ea - Jagex may have changed it by the time you do it). You can buy the knives in about 10 seconds with the new infinite stock thing, the knives are very cheap, and though powering in general is rough, the fact that you can use knives makes it much, much easier. Another personal favorite is powering with bone bolts. A friend of mine (who's a pure ranger) swears by them. Yet again, since the new infinite stock update on shops you can buy about 350k in a few seconds, and since they're 4 gp ea buying 99 range is cheap and easy. The only downside is that though they're about as powerful as mith arrows (so my friend claims), they're much, much slower since you have to use a crossbow. The nerfing of PC for pures has made getting range up more difficult, but with the new shop update you have a few more options. Try both of them out, see which one you like more, and go from there.

3 Very Nice Pks Tonight. 4m+ value
Hah, I didn't know people still pked there, lol. One of my friends told me he was there a few days ago and I was genuinely surprised; I thought once the technique went public the trainers had figured out not to skull. Guess it still works. Grats on the pks.

Not quite. I'll make a more in depth runthrough here. The EVs essentially determine how fast and to what extent certain stats rise, so yes, when you defeat a Zubat you get 1 point towards your EVs. But looking at it on a large scale, you can't simply fight a few Zubats and be done with speed - EV training means training it all the way through to 'max out' your EVs. Your pokemon can have a max of 510 EVs, and at that point they stop being counted. While this is true, only half of those EVs can go towards one skill - so if you go and kill 256 Zubats, you'll only recieve 255 EVs to speed. EVs don't effect levels immediately; if you only kill Zubats for 3 levels, it's not as if suddenly you'll get 20 extra speed stats. EVs are counted up by the game and spread out over your pokemon's growth, so if you max out your EVs by, say, level 50, you won't have stats through the roof, you'll simply have a more dramatic level spread and the stats that you trained will gain at a faster rate. Keep in mind that since you can't look at your pokemon's EV spread (it's a hidden value), either you must keep track of the pokemon that you kill right from the get-go or you don't bother thinking about EVs at all. Training EVs doesn't pump your pokemon up in everything, it simply allows you to influence the level gain that your pokemon has. For instance, if I'm EV training my Ambipom, I'll train it on pokemon that give speed and HP (and a little bit of defense) points so that by the time I max out my EVs, I'll be able to run it through the league (after you get 510 it doesn't matter what you train on) until I can get it to lvl 100. At that point, instead of having pretty average stats through the board, it'll have very high Speed and HP than is normal, mediocre defense, and worse Attack, Sp. Attack, and Sp. Defense than normal. I'll have influenced his level growth, sacrificing those stats that aren't necessary for the stats that I need to make him a good Baton Passer (Speed, HP, and Defense). This is the advantage that EVs give you - you have direct influence over which stats you want to be high when you reach lvl 100 and which stats you don't need. EVs are really complicated, and take a much longer time to train - I'd suggest having some fun, beating the game, and figuring everything out before you delve into it. If you still don't understand, you can ask or you can keep reading the Serebii guide. Trust me, it gets easier to understand every time. :P (And yes, switch training works for EVs - both pokemon will receive the EVs that the defeated pokemon hands out. If you'd like to see what EVs certain pokemon give when defeated, the Pokedex on Serebii lists that, among other things. As a rule of thumb it's usually the pokemon's highest stat(s).) @Necro: if you're really into breeding/Pokedex, get Emerald. If you're like me and you really loved the first games, then get Fire Red. Personally I found Leaf Green refreshing and fun, but you can always just play your old cartridges. :P

What happened to fun fighting?
Because they enjoy the most fun aspect of the game? :? If that makes you an immature scumbag, then I'd gladly be labeled one. People who go to duel arena with the intention of fun duels are often people trying out new pieces of armor, new stats, etc., and as such are oftentimes going to have a temporarily inflated ego. Many stakers have extreme respect for each other (well, at least some do, lol), but the average fun dueller is there simply to win and gloat. You'll have to take solace in the fact that you're the more wise of the two duellers.

EV stands for Effort Values; yet again, Serebii has a great guide on this. Basically the idea, in essence, is that to keep it so that each pokemon of the same species differs stat-wise from trainer to trainer, pokemon's stats will be ever-so-slightly affected by what types of pokemon they fight. For instance, if your Chimchar fights a Zubat and wins, along with the exp it'll receive a hidden "effort value" towards its Speed stat, since Zubat's dominant stat is Speed. When your pokemon gets four effort values towards one stat, it'll raise that stat by an extra point when the pokemon levels up. Since it's a hidden point system (as in there's no way that you can check), you have to keep track of the EVs that your pokemon get if you want to train them that way. It's all very complicated, but after reading the Serebii guide a few times I was able to get it. :P

Is anyone else like me?
Your description sounds a lot like one of my friends - he loves to pk (and is a fantastic pker at that), but can never seem to stick with one account forever. After seeing him go through ~4 accounts, I've finally understood it: that's just the way he wants to play this game. Sticking with one account would be boring for him, and if that's how he feels, then swapping between accounts is what he should do. If you don't like switching between accounts but just can't seem to hold onto one, then my personal advice would be to find something that you've always enjoyed doing (such as pking), decide how you want to do it, and make an account. Don't stress yourself too much over your past history with accounts; just decide what you like to do, and do it. As long as you can always have fun with your account, then you're on the right track, and you'll have an easy time holding on to a sole one. That's the most important thing.

I'd be a little pissed as well if I'd painstakingly bred a perfect Happiny only for it to have a crappy ability like Serence Grace (yeah, it's useful for Pokemon that depend on Ancientpower etc., but on a walling Blissey it has little use). How do you breed for natures, by the way? I've been looking and looking but I can't find a thorough, specific guide for it.

~PokeVentures
@Ray, if you need more information on IVs, serebii.net's guide is incredibly thorough. After three days of doing rounds of 16 honey trees every 20-ish hours, finally caught an Aipom, and with a Jolly nature (and 29 HP IV) to boot. Needless to say, I'm relatively pleased. :-w

9 O Percent's 10th And Last PK Video: My Last Stand
Really want to DL this, but I seem to never be able to find the time. >_> Going to sit down eventually and watch it. Your gallery's always been entertaining. It's a shame you haven't posted it on TIF.

Looking for a unique setup for him? This is the one I personally run: Stockpile Slack Off Earthquake Ice Fang Note that Fissure is banned from the metagame, and Stockpile isnt the best setup in the game, sure you'll get some defense boosts, but Hippow doesn't have good special attack capabilites. So basically, your setup beats his badly. Spit up and Swallow are horrible moves, purely because they use your stockpiles, and effectively kill your defenses, which is what Hippow is about. Oof, didn't know Fissure was banned - I suppose it makes sense, though. So Stockpile doesn't need Spit Up or Swallow to use? Nice. I was wondering about Slack Off but I wasn't sure whether I would need it if Swallow would work. Thanks for the help, again. I'll get on breeding then. ;)

I was desperately hoping there'd be a thread like this. First question: does anyone have any experience with the Stockpile/Swallow/Spit Up combo? (Mawile is the most popular user of this, though she's generally better as a Baton Passer.) I'm in disagreement with my brother over a moveset for a Hippowdon; I say that Stockpile - Swallow - Spit Up - Earthquake would be best if I could get it EVs in Def and Sp. Def and Baton Pass it some Sp. Att, but he says Earthquake - Fissure - Rest - Sleep Talk takes the most advantage of Hippowdon's tank-like Def and HP. I'd also like to try the Stockpile combo simply because it's original - I'd much prefer to try something new. If Stockpile turns out to be a waste of time, though, I'd like to know in advance so that I don't bust my butt getting a Mawile and training it up to 46 to breed with Hippopotas. Any thoughts?

Nice little dm for me.13m+
Personally, I don't care if someone teles or not, it's a game, they can play how they want - but you must admit, it is hilarious when people bring 10m+ gear on the assumption that their tab will make them exempt from dying. People have different opinions on honor, so you can't expect a universal response; the best thing to do is have a chuckle and move on. Anyways, fantastic kill. Some people have all the luck. ;)

A few kills, nothing special EDIT: FRIST WHIP
Very nice kills; gutsy of you to you use a Gs, but I'm still not that impressed by nonskulling. Nonetheless, congrats on your first whip, and best of luck on many more to come. ;)

Tele Tabs
Nah. Too much of a hassle to make, way to expensive to buy; teles work when I need to get somewhere, and ecto/elf crystals work when I need a convenient one click.

Best Kill
The Jad. My adrenaline was pumping so quickly that my mouse was covered in sweat, and my brother swears I was mumbling weirdly to myself. That's one of the reasons I prefer RS to WoW - the PvP (and occasional PvE) actually gets my heart pounding. Not gonna grind when I have that rush available.

New Shops Smash Seller's Market
I don't understand. How does this help macroers and merchants whatsoever? I'd argue that both parties get completely trashed with this update. Macros can't use shop-buying scripts anymore, because shops sell 50-60 gp overpriced (or, in the case of arrows, simply 2 gp above street price), and merchants can't buy cheap materials to sell at a huge profit. And to answer your question: a street price is needed because the shops were stocked to sell overpriced. They're a mixed bag - yes, you can buy tons and tons of whatever you want, but you'll have to deal with the fact that you'll be buying it for more than other players sell it.

Where is the best place to start in Fight Caves?
Italy rock. You can still safespot half the monsters, it's just that the ones that spawn in the center can no longer be safespotted by simply standing there. When I got my cape (after the diagonal movement was added), I stood on the heel of the boot - from there, if a monster spawned in the center, I could simply judge which side to safespot it on based on the locations of the other monsters, and with a little bit of running I'd have it safespotted. It's not as easy as it used to be, yes, but it makes it a lot more boring. ;)

which is the best spellbook?
I'd really prefer to be on ancients with home tele tabs at all times, but making the tabs is such a pain in the rear that I typically use modern.

What would you do if you see this? #1 #2 #3
1. Tell them to kiss and make up. Always makes me chuckle and diverts the angry attention on me - hopefully giving them a common enemy, if not for a second, will distract them enough to stop caring about the argument. 2. Just tele out, or put my public on off. He's not worth my trouble. 3. Report him and say something such as "lol, *username*". That sometimes makes them log, and if I can do anything to get them away, it'd be for the best.

Profit from 99 runecrafting, solo natures - FFL method added
Get Saidin down here, he's calculated this out extensively, lol. That looks roughly correct - since essence/nat prices fluctuate wierdly due to extensive merchanting, there's no real average that you can place on those prices. I'd argue that the essence average is closer to 85-ish, but 100 isn't a whole lot different. A lot of people do 80-91 at ffl, so if you're interested in doing more calculations, you could factor that in and find how much 80-99 doing that method would take.

Jc4me Last Vid Unmuted!!@!@!@!
I'm embarrassed to say that I've never seen any of your vids - seeing how many times you've posted kills/vids on TIF Graveyard, I really should've gotten around to seeing some of your vids before this. Anyway, watching in a bit, I'll edit in a response.
