  1. There's very little they can within Community Management to do that as most of the problems are in other areas of the company, mainly due to bots others due to bugs/glitches and lack of quality content (although to be fair, despite having a poor first half of the year the last two months have been a hell of a lot better). I don't really see how Community Management themselves can do that unless they start publishing more information regarding bots but that'd be useless unless they step up their action against them which is outside their hands.
  2. I noticed a few users have their usergroup set to "Members+" http://forum.tip.it/user/204087-deathknell/ for example Simply put, what does this do and what qualifies users for it? Edit: Strange, as soon as I posted this topic I switched to Members+ too
  3. A nice few drops at Glacors :) First pair of boots after ~300 or so, sold 8.5M
  4. I read somewhere that they're releasing the Clan Citadel in the other Languages but can't remember where I read that.
  5. They're not going to say how their current detection system works which it seems like some of you seem to think this is all about.
  6. It's posts and attitudes like these which are ruining this site. It seems it's the same few people that have to crap on every single thing about the game even before it's happened. An update is announced? "OMG THIS WILL BE THE WORST THING IN THE WORLD EVEN THOUGH WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT!". It's fine to have negative things to say towards an update or whatever, but how about waiting until it's actually happened before you say that instead of mindless speculation based off nothing at all. Yes, bots suck in the back and are having a huge negative impact on pretty much everyone's enjoyment of the game and Jagex haven't been doing anywhere near enough to stop it that along with weaker punishments for bots are not a good thing. Everyone knows that and it doesn't need to be stated in every single thread on the forums. While it may be terrible at the moment the fact that they're willing to talk to publicly about this, which is something they said they wouldn't do shows to me that they know how big the problem is amongst the community and hopefully will address some concerns and promise to do more about it to stop it. I highly doubt they'll go into details on their current system but clearly something along the lines isn't working either at all or just not well enough (probably the latter I'd imagine).
  7. Would rather see "Other Jagex Games" just bundled together as one forum rather than dumped in with video games in general. Especially with Transformers and Stellar Dawn coming out soon-ish maybe?
  8. They just didn't give enough variation to the gameplay to make it that great in my opinion. If you're using a torque bow for example you get 6 shots out of it and maybe a few more if you kill the enemies in that area then when you're onto the next one you're left with a useless weapon with no ammo and have to switch back to lancer or whatever. There were numerous situations where I switched weapons to something else and then found myself in an area where I needed a long ranged weapon with no chance to get one at that second so just had to sit there and try and pick them off with a pistol or try and somehow find a way around and kill them with a shotgun, lots of times that's just not possible especially on hardcore. With things like grenades as well where I didn't use them all the time as I had no idea when I'd get more and I might need them, if I had more or got restocked more often I'd have been willing to use them more and get more variety in there but due to their scarcity that option wasn't really there. I can understand limiting the power weapons some what but they either needed more ammo or the ability to get a small amount of ammo for them from the ammo pick ups. The fact that even the longshot doesn't get refilled from the ammo pick-ups shocked me as that's usually my goto weapon in the last two games when it came to the campaign. Story wise really just the lack of progress throughout the game and the unexplained things at the end are what made that not great. The end felt a little rushed too but at aleast it was closed and there's not really any chance of a sequel. (A prequel is a possibility though, which I'd like). It's just a shame for a game I've been waiting for nearly 3 years for to just leave so many things unexplained while closing the story at the same time. Maybe DLC will come out that'll explain it? I hope so, but should have been in the main game.
  9. Were you playing a different game to what I just played? Spoilers inside. The fighting itself was alright, although without any significant story reasons for continuing to fight more stuff it just felt like fighting things for the sake of fighting things. There were numerous times where I was just bored of fighting things and just wanted to get onto the next major story piece and that never really came until the end of the game, leaving me unsatisfied most of the way through the campaign except for a few small moments here and there but mostly just uneventful. The Unreal Engine is also showing its age and that certainly made a few parts of it less enjoyable for me. I think I had 23 deaths playing through on Hardcore, well over 50% of those were due to frustrations with the engine or AI rather than actual difficult sections. The number of times the AI just wandered about instead of picking me up when I was downed so it timed out was crazy. I was left frustrated a number of times due to not being given a decent weapon selection for what was needed, this is especially true for the Armoured Kantus which require explosive weapons. Picking up weapons for a fight then being skipped ahead with an empty weapon before getting the chance to pick my other one back up was also annoying. In the end I just stuck with Lancer + Gnasher through most of it as if I went down any other routes I'd just be struggling for ammo for the other weapons. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the campaign but it just felt so unsatisfying at times I really don't see how it is the best shooter campaign.
  10. Every single monster that drops gems (except Tzhaar) drop this. it's part of the Dragon shield/Dragon Spear drop chain.
  11. Speaking of masters Zergs that's who I played in the tournament, was just a BO1 in both rounds. First game was against the winner of the whole tournament who I very nearly beat. I'd managed to snipe his expansion and had a 10 supply lead (like 28 vs 38) while he switched to banelings which I scouted early enough so I throw down a roach warren. I build an extra gas to make sure I'd be able to pump out enough roaches the only problem being I forgot to put drones back on gas after taking them off and didn't put any on the new one either so I quickly exhausted my gas supply with about 3 roaches and my lings just got overwhelmed and unfortunately I lost. If it wasn't for that simple mistake or if I'd have left drones on gas I'd have won the game and beaten the player who didn't drop a single game all tournament. In the lower bracket I then lost to another masters zerg who took 3rd place, he went for very early 6 lings and my spine crawler just failed to get up otherwise I could have held off, oh well.
  12. I haven't seen it mentioned yet but there was one thing about the quest that I disliked and that was the amount of items we were given and just left with without any indication if we would need them again or not, both during the quest and after. That's something quests have been better with recently but felt that messed me up a bit during the quest when trying to have fighting stuff on me, food and the required items all while being given a bunch of items as I went along and not knowing what I needed to bring with me.
  13. Signed up for the Giant Bomb Community Tournament today even though I suck. I'm sure it'll be fun and I hope to be able to win at least one game (double elimination). While practising on the US servers to get used to latency and stuff I managed to get promoted to Platinum :D. Funnily enough it was against mass mech terran but he kept pushing out and I kept stopping his pushes pretty much. Got out a lot of infestors (earlier than I normally do) and just expanded on the map while keeping him on 2 bases for a while. Then made a bunch of brood lords and attacked his natural SCVs while having my main force attacking his 3rd (this is on Tal'Darim) then just steam rolling the rest of his army :D. Lost one stupid game to Protoss due to bad unit control which was slightly upsetting seeing as I should have won but I didn't drone enough myself and he managed to shut down my gold base oh well didn't matter in the end :)
  14. Wow wait a minute... I see what you are doing there! I am not telling, I am not giving you access to the Stone  I picked 1, simply cause I found it odd that I could choose it. Indicates to me that in a sequel you might need it  "Double Stone of Jas!" The new scam.
  15. Zerglings get destroyed by the tanks/hellions and infestors do well but you need too many of them to do all thors to the point that if I lose the initial attack I can't get enough back out to help.
  16. I haven't played a whole lot as each time I play I always come up against a terran using mass mech and it just pisses me off as there's not a whole lot I can do about it. I have absolutely no problem against Terrans who don't go mass thors and no problems against either protoss or zerg it's just this bloody mass thor build that I can't beat. And it's always in games I've managed to deny them bases and expanding lots myself. I have no way of stopping them getting an army due to them just turtling up on two bases and being untouchable. So my only option is to try and starve them but they just push out once kill my army then park themselves in between my bases to the point where I can't build up enough of an army again to stop them. Although each time it seems to be on the same map (can't remember name, it's the one with the easy 3rd with also got rock access, one of the new maps). I should just veto it.
  17. Except the reason they got rid of them in the first place is still there. The gold farmers most likely don't bring jagex any money at all and cost them money and these are the main ones they're unable to handle as there's just far too many of them. The "legit" players who bot are the ones they make money off and ones that'll come back after being rolled back and buying their account back hence why that option is there so they can continue to make money off those people. They have absolutely no reason to leave gold farmers in the game as they do more harm than good to both the community and to Jagex themselves and I honestly don't believe Jagex would purposely leave them in the game they're just unable to handle the volume of them. Pray tell, as long as the gold farmers are paying their $5 a month, how are they costing the game anything? Also, forget the community, or long-term health or anything, when I say "costing the game anything" I mean in terms of dollars. They aren't. When Jagex was originally forced to remove wilde/FT it was because many of these gold farmers were paying for RS with stolen credit cards. People would eventually notice someone using their credit card for Jagex, the card companies would talk to Jagex and Jagex (at the very least) would be forced to compensate monetarily, I'd imagine. Possibly other legal fees or something too, idk. Eventually, the credit card companies told Jagex to deal with this problem or they'd boycott Jagex. That would mean no one would be able to use credit cards to pay for RS membership, thus severely cutting into their profit margin. Now? As far as I know, gold-farming is illegal in China. This isn't random - this means that a significant amount of the people who would have gold-farmed for money via stolen credit cards are no longer doing so. (Or possibly for other reasons.) This group has to be gone, otherwise Jagex wouldn't be able to profitably run Jagex due to the reasons mentioned in my previous paragraph. To summarize: the reason they got rid of them in the first place isn't there or Jagex wouldn't have been able to bring back free trade. The gold farmers will still be using illegitimate means to pay for membership, be it stolen cards or whatever. I just imagine Jagex are better equipped now to handle with such problems as much it doesn't cost them as much as it did before and hence why they were able to bring free trade back to the game. However because the methods of payments are not legit Jagex make nothing from it which is why there's no reason to keep them around.

But then I question why they bothered re-adding free trade at all? They were quite clear that the december 07 changes were the only realistic solution when they implemented them... No idea. I imagine they have more to prevent that now and to fight the chargebacks so maybe it's not costing them money directly in that regard but I doubt they'll be getting anything from them either. It's impossible to say really but I doubt, even Jagex, would purposely keep gold farmers around in game.

  20. The money that was made from the spike of bringing in new users due to bringing back free trade and wilderness probably evens out against that of people leaving due to bots and I imagine they have underestimated the extent of which bots have come back into the game and the rate that they deal with them. They're after money from RuneScape more than ever now and that's blatantly obvious, with a massive increase in focus towards marketing as the company as a whole shows that. They're not going to let RuneScape die any time soon and the certainly aren't trying to kill it off. I imagine Stellar Dawn and Transformers are going to be entirely different to RuneScape and won't take away much of the user base if any at all, especially Transformers. Stellar Dawn may do but it'll be different enough I think to only do small damage to the current user base. Some of their recent decisions haven't been great at all and I'm sure they realise they're pissing off a lot of their current users but I imagine they're hoping this'll even out as they'll be bringing in new users to take their place. And their current handling of bots isn't as good as it needs to be, especially considering their weaker punishments towards bots now which is most likely due to the possibility to get more money out of them but I highly doubt they're purposely not punishing bots for the same reason they just seem to be unable to cope with the numbers.
