  1. Quick and simple. No.
  2. You may want to reread the thread. He specifically says it's a laser mouse and even lists the model... :wall:
  3. Nomar is most likely correct. If someone compromised your machine, they aren't going to waste time making your mouse twitch. Try out several different surfaces to see if it fixes the problem (paper, flat color mouse pad, ect). If none of those work, it's more than likely bad hardware, which means buying a new mouse.
  4. This stuff has been in public use on credit cards and phones in Japan for years. It's by no means still being developed in the sense you're talking about. The US and Europe are just slow as all hell when it comes to adopting and using it.
  5. You will have to find an available domain name and register it with a service such as godaddy.com or namecheap.com. If you don't already know this though, you may want to do a bit more research into web hosting and management in general before you spend money on something you don't know how to use.
  6. http://www.phpbb.com/support/documentation/2.0/ Click link. Notice big bold "Installation" letters. Click those. Read. Reading the software documentation should be the first thing you do before installing anything you're new to. :shame:
  7. Assuming you're talking about the 'blogs' here on the forum, those can be created by anyone in the BlogScape forum. A list of bbcode tags and what they do can also be found in the forum faq.
  8. I've always just used a damp (water, moist, not dripping) paper towel to wipe all my screens down and then used a second to dry them off. You may want to use a cloth if you're paranoid of marking the LCD up but I've never had a problem.
  9. how bout u get off ur high chair and think about others? as i stated above, this would NOT benefit experienced users like me more than new people that just joined the tip.it community for the first time and may not be familiar with this forums functions, would be helpful if a mod gave them more than just a terse remark The remark is "high horse" and I'm most definitely not on either one. The reply was aimed at everyone, not just you. New users need to learn how to use the forum functions like anyone else and pasting them a URL to a thread they could look for themselves doesn't teach them that. All it does is say "Hey, you don't need to do anything! I'll do it all for you!". Writing threads in all italics is annoying as hell too. It's meant for emphasis, not entire paragraphs. :?
  10. So, instead of the user getting off their rump and actually doing some work to find the thread, you want it pushed off onto the mods. Sometimes I wonder what drives some of you people to even bother getting online when all you do is complain that you aren't spoon fed enough already. :wall:
  11. Those of you arguing over Tip.It's use of RS images may want to read this thread. This Kbase section is useful reading too.
  12. This happening to your machine does not make it a fact that it will always crash on every machine. This just shows it is a problem with drivers and your specific hardware configuration, not every machine running Vista. Just because something breaks on one machine, doesn't mean it breaks on all of them.
  13. My resize posted above is still the original 100x100. Still good to have a couple choices though.
  14. Took some hit and miss work in animation shop optimizing it, but got it down to 7.94kb. Forums should except it now. http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/6715/152ri5.gif
  15. Just a quick suggestion. If you aren't already using something like notepad++ or editplus that has syntax highlighting, it would be a very good idea to get one of them for writing code. Once you get things figured out, it because pretty easy to notice errors because elements in your code will be the wrong color. Very useful once you get used to the syntax highlighting.
  16. This is not true. I played with all kinds of power settings on our Core2 laptop before reinstalling XP and the only issues I had was waking from standby when the lid was closed. Yes the power management is buggy, but not to the point of crashing everything every 5 minutes.
  17. First, you can start by writing a readable subject line. Second, what hardware and OS are you using? Do you have proper video drivers installed? Does this happen in other media players?
  18. Bingo. Save yourself the time and just use a normal browser.
  19. Yes you can install XP on it. That won't be a problem. The problems will arive when you start trying to install drivers for the dell hardware. They will most likely only provide drivers for Vista if that is the only OS option for that model, leaving you with no drivers and having to hunt down compatible versions. This was a slight problem with the Toshiba laptop I downgraded, since Toshiba only supplied Vista drivers for the model.
  20. As Somnambulism said, you did not get hacked. Your computer freezing and the guy saying something was just a freak coincidence. You should probably start looking into what may have caused your computer to crash tho.
  21. That image is actually 8.41kb. That would be why the forums won't let you use it. Whatever you are using to view the file size must be either rounding down or cutting off the decimal.
  22. What was the image you were trying to use? The image could have been slightly over 8kb, but displayed as exactly 8 by your computer due to the slight difference. Linking us to the image you were trying to use would help clear things up a bit more.
  23. No real reason to go creating other names and using another client (although another client can be more useful if you use multiple services). Just don't accept files from anyone and you're fine.
  24. I would stay away from it unless you have some good experience with electronics. Replacing screen parts will be much different than snapping desktop parts into the correct slots. Getting most notebooks apart without breaking something can also be a challenge in itself. The part is most definitely fixable, I'd just get someone with experience doing that kind of work to do it so you don't go zapping yourself with live monitor parts.
