  1. GE is designed to reduce the fluctuations of prices that merchants need to survive. Instead, why not find out the differences between prices in W2 and GE and make money off that price gap?
  2. If a bot is truly undetectable, then all the effort and money spent on combating bots are all worthwhile, because we have finally created a AI that can beat the Turning Test. Given the amount of work in RL done towards beating the test and failed, I have my reservations about when the botters can do so. In the end, all bot functions are scripted, let any experienced players watch them and it's easy to tell who's who. The problem right now is JaGeX is not utilizing their large player resource effectively. Make a system stronger than reporting and we'll decimate botters.
  3. you could get another Pharaohs Sceptre even if you already have one. Had that happened to me a few times.
  4. awww, no "Romeo, Romeo, where art thou Romeo?"
  5. RS marriage is illegal now? Em... how about have shey act out the five stages of grievance after watching you die to a strange plant?
  6. marry her, cycle through the stages of marriage, and end it in a tragic divorse Or Act out the entire "Romeo and Juliet" as a duet at hyt edgy.

  8. I am having a bit of trouble completing this part of the varrock diary: I have gotten the cat training medal before. In fact, I got two to keep it in the same spot of my bank. However, Now Getrude refused to give me another to complete the above entry. Do anyone know what do I do to finish up my varrock diaries?
  9. they're rather difficult to sell. Use your avantoe for super energy and snape for prayer next time.
  10. Grand Exchange is releasing next week unless there's a delay.
  11. It's probably a scam, but so what? What happened speaks more about your character than of his. Given that you know what the other person tries to do, you still are willing to part with your valuables, that can only mean that protecting a stranger is more important to you than some virtual possession (even if the chances are what was said is not true). There is no evil on your part, so no worries on your side. Here, I salute your kindness. You should have no other thought but pride for your actions.

  13. or just play f2p for a while. Yes, it's possible to go back to f2p, even if it's not very pleasant.
  14. 1m is members, not all the players (that is including f2p).
  15. From the tone of the of article quoted, it seems like the CEO is more interested in leveraging the tools and technology that jagex has in developing other games than simply expanding runescape. Let's hope it's just reporter jargon and not a sign of jagex splitting its resources.
  16. I have not played rs in any seriousness in the past 6 month, but I am still a nerd. From my point of view, being a nerd or social misfit has much more to do with who the person are than what game they play. Yes, MMO players have much cross-section with those so-call "social undesirables," and for some, lead them to a deeper path. But who's to say that they won't have buried themselves into something else, if MMO haven't come along? It could be worse, it could be better. The social perceptions are just that, perceptions. In all honesty, if the person truly aspire for something, who's to say their achievements are not worthwhile? A professional sports star may spent all his waking life training, but what he really earns (before the television contracts and big salary)? An achlete may train his body to be toned and healthy, but he may just as likely to permanently disabled. A gamer trains his patience, split-sec reaction, but he may get fat and ugly. Is it really that different? Of course, there are certain evils of addiction, but without it we won't have this discussion. The question is, is MMO's evils worth its goods? Looking at the size our community, the larger RS population, and the even larger gaming world -- the answer is a reaffirming yes. Can the evils be reduced? Of course! We need to educate more about the dangers of addiction and the importance of social life. These are the things that we need to study, discuss, and develop for the benefit of the community.
  17. Ya, I for one appreciate all the effort and time you guys have done. If there is anyone deserving to be put up on the topic, please free feel to add it in!
  18. Beyond the casual kiddies, beyond the hardcore grinders, there exists people who not only play RuneScape, but think RuneScape -- those who not only train smartly, but discuss smartly, and act smartly. These players are emerging, their numbers growing; they have always been with us -- from the fansite pioneers, to the pixel artists, to the event teams, to the newsletter publishers -- and becoming ever more prominent. They share the common trait of love for our game RuneScape and their willingness to share the joy of the game. They use their time productively, creatively, going above and beyond the superficial and dive deep down to the details, methodology, the strategies behind the game. My small collection of the emerging class: tools http://www.draynor.net/index.php http://www.kubr.net/ircstats/runescape http://www.rscript.org http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=568512 critical writing http://www.rshaven.com/ http://www.truthscape.com/ http://www.runehead.com/editorials/ newsletters http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=708277 http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=708460 player events http://www.tip.it/runescape/?event=home http://rune-quests.com/ http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=640482 music http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=665520&highlight= wiki http://runescape.wikia.com/ http://darkrunescape.wikia.com Their work contribute to the collective intellect of all RuneScape community and its their actions that will turn the tide that had been degenerating our community. It's my personal hope that the rest of us will follow their lead and mature. BUILD IT, AND THEY WILL COME!
  19. I haven't got a chance to go through the conversation yet, but i'll just add a little historical info. food for thought 2006:
  20. NO oh ya: #71 - Most Viewed (Today) - Comedy #31 - Top Rated (Today) - Comedy #11 - Most Discussed (Today) - Comedy
  21. I am tired of the customer service bashing, this topic should be pulled back up on regular bases to educate our populous.
  22. Makoto has covered this topic quite well, so I'll just add a little detail http://my.opera.com/community/forums/to ... ?id=193835 There is some light at the end of the tunnel through, the willboard is out, and there are currently projects to port linux to the wii. If and when that project is complete, adding java is would a simple extra step for them. http://www.wiili.org/ http://www.wiili.org/forum/java-on-wii-t1365.html "We're still working on getting code to execute on the wii in general. Once that's done, supporting java should be a trivial matter" In addition, there might exist a miracle in which Nintendo update Opera for the next build!
  23. I recommend creative zen with the arm band accessory. I have gone through 5 mp3 players and I can definitely vouch for the Zen. It's small (good for running), long battery life, fm radio (VERY useful), intuitive interface, and other goodies like voice recording. The only down-side is the screen it utilize can only display simple text, ie no videos. But for the price (I got my 1GB zen refurb for only $25, armband $3), it's definitely the best for the money. Don't get the ipod, it's overrated and expensive.
  24. Excuse me for my paranodia. Lightning, the (runescape) world's collapsing! We already what happened to tipitchat, but look a t#runescape too: Red lies the problem. Look at how low the line counts have got. End of an era indeed! Excuse me for raising a panic, but it's worse then we all imagined...
