  1. nice job on the hiding spot, but the clues gave it away. sorry i didnt stick around either but i had dinner. mmm... tender, juicy steak, grilled potatoes with mushrooms and unions, greenbeans, and salad. yummy.
  2. people can sell things for whatever price they want. its up to the buyer whether or not they want to buy it. it only turns into scamming when they begin lieing about the item. for example: "selling black lobby! 100k!!" = ok. "selling *rare* black lobby! 100k!!" = item scamming. tricking people into thinking an item is rare is item scamming regardless of the sale price.
  3. under the assumption that your f2p: use the essence to raise your runecrafting level, sell elemental runes. under the assumption that your p2p: make laws and natures, sell of f2p. simple, huh?
  4. hi! welcome to the past 6 months :) i blame the influx of immature children from places like miniclip
  5. i got the second prize! if i had started searching for him just a bit further east, i wouldve found him twenty minutes before you, eyrelex
  6. 1. cant pay for members 2. yeah, i would probably become one if given the chance and i had a bunch of extra time. 3. probably not. for some people, its a matter of pride. some remain f2p because they see getting 99s in those skills through f2p as a much harder and more honerable goal. it is true that its much harder to get good levels in f2p, so i can see where they are coming from there.
  7. blipo, i will truly believe that you are the easter bunny when you have given out enough eggs to cover the entire population of earth. giving a rough estimate, thats about, what? like 4 billion eggs? better get cracking on handing those out. ;) that birds gonna hate you more than the bunny will very soon i bet
  8. wait... so the answer to puzzle number 10 was runescape.com? how in the world does that relate to the question??
  9. yeah... i give up. this has bested me. im apparently thinking way too hard and am going to be sorely dissappointed when i hear such an obvious answer to number 10. oh well...
  10. wow! another cool holiday update! i love this new ring. the only problem is when i turn into an egg, people try to dig me up... :? also, if you leave the easter area, you can be an egg for as long as you like. ;)
  11. wait... theres eggs? are they out now? can i get them? do they come in cool colors? or is this set to begin like next week or something?
  12. i think that what your saying could be a good idea, but its kind of limited. how about a list that you can add friends from your friendslist to, lets call it your chat list, and then turn the chat option to "chat list". this way, whenever you type something, instead of saying it "out loud" you say it in private chat to everyone on your chat list. it could be used to talk to a select group of friends "chat room" style, or to your entire clan while pking. sound better?
  13. i got desperate and sent a message to jagex asking them if they knew what they would say if they saw number nine. they sent a semi-generic reply saying that while they couldnt personally handle my query, they didnt have half an idea in hell what i was talking about. they also told me to become a member so i can get my questions answered faster and they did so in a somewhat snob-ish manner that suggested to me that the person who wrote the responce felt i was wasting his/her time. i think they think im wierd now, and they may also hate me a little... <_< >_>
  14. thats the attitude that i believe is causing this community problem. its the fact that we would rather kill a monster while making fun of a new player than help them out that causes soo many problems in our community. granted you should look out for yourself, but you cant always do that. if you assume that everyone is always out to get you, out to scam you, out to cheat you, and theyre not worth your time, then you get a community full of distrustful, paranoid people. unfortunately thats what runescape is becoming.
  15. dude, that sounds cool! imagine 999 low level noobs who all look exactly the same, marching along in runescape, attacking anything that moves and even taking down mighty pkers in multi-wildy! its like a colony of siafu! i would love to be a part of that if theres another one!
  16. you guys do realize that the TRN wont just ask for items, it will ask for advice as well. like "where is this place?" "where am i?" "how much is this?" and any other really easy questions like that. it will have an equal chance of asking any question it is programed to.
  17. a different mmorpg that i had played a long time ago had a neet system for dealing with that. for houses, there would be a single house that you entered, once you entered it(in runesscape, you would use a portal to warp there) you would get a list to select which house you wanted to visit and you could sort these options with various stats like "square meters"(assuming you can add onto your house), "player name", "times visited", etc, etc. for stores, it would be the same thing, but it would be a door within the general store. hows that sound?
  18. just so im sure, you did read the whole thread, right? its not like the TRN will be a very, very common, it would probably be as common as... lets see... maybe a mime or something. it shouldnt happen to one person more than once every month or two. its not like suddenly, everybody will be like "look! a noobs asking for help! ill help him cause he might give me 5k or something back!", it will be more like "wow, i just helped that noob and he came back on his rich main to give me 10k! cool! i never knew helping noobs felt soo good... i should do it more often!" thats my aim.
  19. i think i see a better way for this to work. im currently playing this other mmorpg on the side and they have a really neat idea for owning your own stores. you go and purchase a "shop permit" with actual, real life money. it has to be real money so that only the more serious players will do it, and you dont waste game space with "useless shops". anyway, you purchase this permit, and it stays good for a certain amount of time. lets say 60 days. to start your shop off, you right click the permit and hit "stock shop". this opens up two inventories, your regular one and your shops one. you then select items, and how many of that item, you want to stock. you can stock only a certain number of different items, say as many as a regular shop, and an unlimited number of items that are the same. so you could have 550 logs, a bucket, 15 addy kites, etc. etc. once your inventory is set up, you select options for your store. you can set individual prices, or set your items to "shop value" which prices your items in the same manner as a general store would. you can select whether to sell only, buy or sell, or buy only. in the case of buying things, you select what you would like to purchase from people, how many, and either set the price you want to buy it for, or "shop price", which buys the item for the same price as a shop would. you will automatically buy the items you selected as long as people are willing to sell them, and until you either have enough, or run out of money. finally, when everything is set up, you right click the permit and select "set-up shop". this brings up a box to type your shops name in. your shops name must follow all the "appropriate language" rules and should tell people about what you are buying and selling. for example, a good shop name might be "neogeo0823's rune and bar store!", or "stallion4589's sword and shield shop" or something like that. once you type in the name and hit ok, an icon appears next to your name in chat, and above your head. other players can mouse over either icon to see your characters name, level and the name of your store in the upper left hand corner. this is why you need a good store name, its your advertisement. if people want to visit your store, then you can left click(right click, second option in the wildy) and it will bring up the stores inventory and your own. after that, it works like a general store. you just select and buy the items you want, and you can sell any items that you have that are on the stores seperate "sell me this" list at the prices specified. if the stores inventory is depleted, and theres no more items, then the store automatically shuts down, and the store icon dissapears until you restock the store. once the permit expires, you keep it, but you have to pay to renew it. if you dont want to renew it, then you can throw it out. if you want to change any details, you just go back into the various options and change them as you need. wow, that was a long post... but i think its a bit better than the way suggested.what do you think?
  20. thank you! thats exactly the point of this random. and to striker: no problem. at least you apologized, right?
  21. yeah, i think the greed and lack of community is clearly evident in this game. its gotten soo bad, that i made a thread about a possible solution to it in the suggestions and discussion forum. it should still be at the top of the page. why not go read that and tell me what you think?
  22. gee, thanks for the kind words... -_- i dont think it would encourage more begging noobs in the long run. if it is convincing enough and jagex does a good job of downplaying the release of it, then it shouldnt even really be noticed at all, let alone identified as a random. after a few months, when jagex sees how much abuse(not like bug abuse, more like bad treatment) it will probably be getting then they may make a formal announcement about or they may not. i honestly dont see how it would create an influx of beggers.
  23. the logs situation was just an example. the TRN wouldnt ask for logs in a place where there are no trees. im sure that that would be easy enough to program in. it would try to ask "task appropriate" questions where the person its asking can easily give away any common item to him. and at that, this is assuming that the TRN is asking for an item. remember, it could ask for directions, or any number of other things. as for harpers comment: like i said, if it asks for an item, it would have to be an easy to get item. if your cutting yews, which are always surrounded by what else other than normal trees, it would ask for normal logs, not yews... well, maybe 2-5 yews or something. as for the public chat being off, i wonder if theres any way to have the TRN check for public chat status and act accordingly? that would solve that problem. also, how about instead of asking a particular player, it just asks for anyone at random to help? for example: if it walks up to the peer at karamja and theres a bunch of people(maybe it can be programmed to check how many people are in an area and act accordingly) it might ask "is there anyone out there who can spare some shrimp?" or something and the first person to respond or trade will be the one to get the reward, assuming everything goes right? next, the
