  1. Just make sure you have a light source when shading. :P Especially with armour - it looks really tacky if it's been pillowshaded.

Definitely the Abyss. If you're smart, you'll very rarely, if ever, get killed whilst crafting via the Abyss. If I were you, I'd take a few trial runs through the abyss with telerunes and nothing very valuable, just to get the feel of it. Concerning getting abyss PK'd - the one time a PKer ever killed me, I had already dropped my pouches and glory. I quickly ran to a bank, grabbed another glory and some food, tele'd to Edgeville - and voila, there were my pouches and my 50k glory - perfectly hidden from the PKers view. Needless to say, I ran and picked them up, hehe. :P I'd like to relate another story. I once crafted 9k nats using the general store method, and even had a friend help me do so, so we were going twice the usual rate using the general store. It took us a week. Once I discovered the abyss, though, I crafted 27k nature runes using the abyss in a little over a week. A lot faster? Heck yes. I strongly suggest the Abyss - but only when you're comfortable. Good luck and happy crafting! :D EDIT: Hehe, just saw your reply to Jake - yes, we have stealth like ninja.
  3. I'm pretty sure that they'll always give you healthy watermelons. I've never had a crop die myself when I've got a healthy flower in the middle of them - but then again, I may just be lucky. :?
  4. Thanks for the answers, everyone! :) Appreciate it very much, my dad and I might go down to the electronics store and check out a few tablets there - gonna ask to try them out. :D Lovelydude, my mouse is pretty crappy in itself, actually. It's not a laser mouse, my brother broke my one. o_o But drawing with a mouse always felt really difficult for me - I mean, with pixelling it's alright, really, because it's not so much drawing (as in, painting, sketching, etc) as placing dots on a canvas, haha. Venomai, thanks, you fully answered my next question - what's the big difference between Graphire and Intuos? :P No need to answer that anymore, thanks for pre-empting me, heh. :) Thanks everyone for your replies, I'll take them into consideration... but now you've made me ask more questions, hehe. :P 6. I've got Photoshop 7, which (from what I've heard) is really not too different from CS2, right? 7. Say the model is a Graphire 4x5 - that would mean that it's 4 inches by 5 inches, right? 8. So, for someone like me who's merely pondering the possibility of a career in graphics design but is at the moment just fiddling around with it as a hobby, a tablet would still be worth it? Thanks again in advance. :)
  5. Excellent avatars, B2D. :D I'm very impressed - solid style, excellent choice of colours. :) PS, is this avatar Dune inspired? I dunno, it really reminds me of a scene from it.
  6. I don't know how to do text fakes... Ah, I'll point you to Bloodveld's Fake Tutorial, then. :D Excellent tut, look near the bottom for text-related stuff. :)
  7. Pretty good, you could've added something into the text box and inventory though. :P Nice work. :D
  8. Hey Gallery-ers. :) Been pondering about getting myself a tablet (actually, it's my parents paying, haha ), but I'm not sure what type to get. I've heard that Wacom is pretty much the best, but I'm wondering whether there are any viable alternatives out there. Maybe I should tell you why exactly I want a tablet - I'm looking to do some digipainting with it, maybe touching up a few photos, and just generally doodling and colouring on the computer. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I might look into a graphics design career in the future, but it's really mostly a hobby for me. I realise that a tablet does nothing more for pixelling than speed up the linework process, and with a scanner it really isn't needed - but I don't have a scanner that works, haha. I'm looking to do digipainting too, so it's really not just pixelling once I get the tablet. :P Really, all I want to know is: 1. Whether a tablet is worth it for hobby-like digipainting and maybe helping a few pixel linework and such, as I don't have a scanner that works. 2. Which tablet is the most cost effective (ie, what size, brand, etc etc). 3. Is it difficult to learn how to use the tablet pen thing? 4. What program do you use to digipaint? 5. I've heard that a tablet really isn't necessary if you can use the mouse well - is it really that much better? There will probably be more questions in the future but at the moment I'm just looking for some in-depth suggestions from people who use/used tablets. I've really always wanted one, and at this point it's looking to be a very real possibility. Thanks! :D
  9. Not bad, I don't like rating stuff so I won't - I don't think it helps much, haha. :P A the only obvious mistakes I've noticed: - In RS, the _s in names are changed into spaces. :) - The apple looks a teensy bit out of place, probably because of the thickish black outline around it. - I'd also say that the apple is pretty big (about the size of her head :o), but then you may not recognise it if it's too small. That's about it, pretty good. :)

Poll'd it up, good luck both of you! :D
  11. There you go, enjoy. :) Hope I did the text alright.
  12. I won't comment on the head as that's also my problem - they either look too large or too small, or too masculine when they're supposed to be female and vice versa, haha. :P Shading armour is quite easy - don't dither. It makes it look less metallic. :) Also use quite a lot of contrast in the shades of armour.
  13. Sure. :D Want your name on it, or do you want it as it is?
  14. Take note of the title - "avatar", not "avatars". Just one, so please don't request a personalised one, thank you. :) First come first served, this one-hour avatar was made for a quick trial of the new Contests & Battles subforum in The Gallery, for this quicky challenge. :) Thanks again to Dibsen for accepting the challenge. :D First to post gets it, please say please (hehe), PM me if you want a name on it - I'll have to switch over to my own computer to put it on so it may not be instantaneous. :P Thanks everyone!
  15. Not accusing anyone of anything, me and you just have a different perception of speed pixeling, no offence was ment by anything. I was just playing around more than anything. And sorry about the he / she thing I never even pay attention to gender seem to always just write he naturally , really sorry about that. Great pixeling! Haha, no offence taken. :) It's alright, most everyone on TIF writes 'he' naturally - must be the stereotype, I guess. :P Thanks. :D Aww. ;_; Sorry Liquid, guess you weren't online when I reopened the challenge. --- I think I'll close the poll now - thanks for participating in the guinea-pig test for the battles, Dibsen. :D I reckon 10 or 15 votes should stop a battle, so it doesn't go on for too long. Suggestions? We do want to know how we can create some sort of point scheme - post here with your idea so you can help the Gallery mods out. :D Thanks again, Dibsen and voters. ^^ You bloody rawk, keep an eye out for my avatar in The Art Bazaar as I'm just giving it away. Great job Dibsen, looking forward to some of your work in the future. ^^

Nice job both of you! :o I like both of them a lot, great job for only 2 1/2 hours. :D (ps, would you like me to poll-erise this topic? If you do, PM me or one of the other Gallery mods. :))
  17. Are you accusing me of starting early? :( Started on time, thank you very much. :P Thanks for the vote. :) P.S., I'm a she. ;) Dibsen - heh, was going to give it away at The Art Bazaar.
  18. Please post all future resizing requests in the Ask your questions or sig resizing here! sticky in The Gallery. :) Thanks, - Faelenof, Tip.It Forum Moderator
  19. Longbows have a larger range, and shortbows shoot faster. Shortbows are widely regarded as the better of the two. :)
  20. Hah, I wouldn't call myself the best. :P Poll added, vote away! :D
  21. Nicely done, Dibsen - just in time. :D Yes, it counts as water. :) I'll edit it into the first post and set up the poll now. :) Thanks for joining in, mate, I appreciate it. :D
  22. Time's up! Please upload and post your pixel, Dibsen. :) I'll edit it into the first post and add a poll, then voting will begin. :D My entry: It's a little unfair to wait forever, so you'll need to submit your entry by 12:00PM NZST (30 minutes from the end of the time limit). Thanks. :)
  23. Challenge Accepted Time is 10:30AM NZ time. Challenge will end in one hour's time. Theme is water. Good luck!
  24. Locked as per request. :) - Faelenof, Tip.It Forum Moderator
  25. You might be able to do it by simply opening the urns, but failing anything will force you to eat something and an antipoison dose, if you got poisoned. You really don't want to be up against that mummy or the scarabs at level 3, I don't think. It's possible, yes... but it's going to be a lot more tedious than if you went and thieved normally. Too much wasted food. Good luck. :)
