  1. Lordliquid: Quite right, hadn't thought of that, haha. :P Topic is updated with the theme - which is to be announced once the challenge is accepted. You guys just have to trust me that I won't pixel something. :D Going to have to disregard everyone that posted above though, as I'm not sure whether or not you're online right now. The first person to post after this accepting the challenge will be pixelling. :) Fire away!
  2. Onto it. Post moved from The Gallery to The Art Bazaar - please post all further free shops in the appropriate forum. :) Thanks, - Faelenof, Tip.It Forum Moderator
  3. Eeek, I hope you get better soon. :o Doesn't sound too good. :| Good luck with the uni stuff, don't worry about it. :) Thanks! (anyone up for it? 8-) )
  4. Entries: Poll added. :) Faelenof: Dibsen: Been rather busy in real life and such, and I've really been itching to try out a bit of pixelling. Fortunately, term break has just started down here in New Zealand, so I'm ready to dust off my 1px pencil tool. It's not that big a battle, hopefully (and I wanted to beat everyone to the first battle topic, haha). I'm also pretty keen to figure out a system for battles in the future - this is a kind of a test run. :) Battle Information: Type: Pixel Opponents needed: One Size: Up to 100x100 (avatar size), can be smaller Theme: Water Time Limit: 1 hour (time starts from when the battle is accepted) Other: No prizes at the moment, but suggestions are welcome. :) Feel free to post WIPs, but that really isn't necessary. :D Start from scratch, if you will - let's make it fair and within the time limit. :) Good luck, I'd love to do a nice quick pixel. :D Personally, the pixel I make here will just be given away. :)
  5. Excellent photos this month, everyone. :D Unmanipulated - pandaownage Manipulated - DementedHero I agree with Zargo and Trapical, I'd like to see a few abstract-ish themes. :D Makes me wonder what everyone'll choose to submit. :)
  6. Sorry mate, The Gallery is for fake screenshots only. Images like this belong in the Have an RS screenshot you wish to share Please Post'em here sticky. :) Please post all future real RS screenshots in the above topic, thanks. :D - Faelenof, Tip.It Forum Moderator
  7. Hahah, excellent. :D Solid idea, no obvious mistakes I can see. Made me laugh. ^^ Great job! PS. Erderik, it's "cannibal". :)
  8. NEWSFLASH! This just in, cabbages have indeed taken over Melzar's Maze! Maybe it's not just an April Fool's joke! Maybe killer cabbages have indeed arisen, and little is known of their followers - the reclusive Order of Cabbage. If you see any people dressed in black robes with a white chef hat and a fire staff, please report it to the nearest Ah Nee On authority. EDIT: Breaking news, the so called OOC has struck again! NOWHERE IS SAFE! EDIT EDIT: Rimmington Mine has been the target of a deadly cabbage bomb! When will this end?! EDIT EDIT EDIT: No further killer cabbage sightings have been reported, but apparently the same group or similar has bombed somewhere north of Lumbridge. A once empty field has filled up with not cabbages, but WHEAT. Our reporter was not able to take a screenshot of said 'wheat bomb', but eyewitnesses state that it simply was not as 'killer' as the cabbages. More news to come.
  9. JaGEx wins. OOC wins. Kah-Bah-Gee!!! in general wins. 'nuff said. I got a great laugh out of this. :D
  10. The ice is much better, in my opinion, though now I think the background may be a little too dark - there should be some light cast from the fire, right? A part of the tree should at least be visible. :) The beginning of the fire stream is a little shoddy, in my opinion, because it's just one straight line coming from a little bubble thing in his hand. Where the ice hits the 'F' in 'For', maybe you could have it spreading a little further to maybe the 'O'. The robes don't really feel too robe-like, but fabric (esp. robes) is difficult to pull off. In the future you may want to try your hand at putting a few creases and such into the fabric, as at the moment it kind of feels like he's in a rubber tube thing... The stars still need a little work - it kind of feels like you copy-pasted one star all over the sky - it's a bit lazy, to be honest, as you're pretty much saying, "hey, all the stars that you can see in the sky are practically the same distance from me". Have a few stars dimmer, a few stars brighter, but not all of them the same. :) I preferred the background from the original, actually - you could make things out in it, because there's light from the fire. Now it seems the only light the fire is casting is toward the character. Not a bad job, keep it up. :)
  11. I recognise this as a pixel featured in the Player Gallery at one point, but was taken down after it was revealed that it was indeed ripped. I don't remember the topic or the actual pixeller of the piece, unfortunately. :|
  12. I adore the effect on the meteor/comet-thing. Interesting way of texturing it, and it looks very impressive. Not much to crit on, really; though as said above the background is, well, boring. :P Either make the canvas smaller to just have the focus on the meteor and the planet (I assume it's Earth? :P), because at the moment there's just too much empty space. Highlight is definitely the meteor, but the Earth is very cute too. I want to hug it.
  13. Is it really? Ugh, it's been too long since I've done the quest, haha (I'm no longer a member now, y'see... :(). Excellent, that's just what I needed. :D If he does indeed tell us that it's an Eastern technique, I think we can definitely expect a bow-sword update (or at least a continuation of the Devious Minds storyline) once the Eastern lands are released, if ever. Valid points, Kilo. Incidentally, that exact same thought hit me just before I went to bed last night (it got late and my sleeping pattern's really messed up :P). I reread the reply... note this sentence: The only equipment he sells (the only thing he sells, incidentally) is Bolt Racks, as I'm sure we all know. But if this equipment is from the "empire's" armies, this means that the "empire" in the Eastern lands uses crossbow bolt racks, kind of like what Karil uses as that's the ammunition for his weapon. This can mean one thing - the Eastern lands use some sort of Karil-type crossbow. As far as I can tell, Karil's crossbow is pretty good, meaning we might be able to look forward to a nicely powered range weapon that uses bolt racks - otherwise that's just my failing P2P memory acting up. ;_;
  14. Haha, yeah, they probably noticed that, what with that ranged joke they made a few Postbags ago. :P Thanks for that, Perakp, should've done a bit more research on what we already know about the Eastern lands. :P The Cyclops must be solely from the Eastern lands, then. to the entire range update thing> On the whole charter ship subject, do they actually travel east specifically? Or do they go around the main continent and go to Port Tyras via that route? The full charter map (as seen on the Knowledge Base - Tip.It doesn't have Port Tyras on it, for some odd reason) is only for the known lands... maybe it takes longer to go 'east' to Tyras than fording the continent and going 'west'. Dwarfie, I think we can indeed assume Eastern lands are based on Oriental themes, or maybe also Middle Eastern/Arabic themes. The only solid info I've gathered is, yes, it's mostly the horse archers thing (horse archery minigame, anyone? :P). Maybe ballistas or something of the sort, haha. Sheep, katanas would be pretty cool, but all the o0ber anime lovers'll flock to it. :P Fire, bow-sword would be interesting, I actually forgot about that (last quest I had to do at the time for my quest cape <3). There's an idea - yes, it was part of the White Knight plot, but I don't know if it had any extra connections to the Eastern lands... was it ever mentioned that it was a "foreign" weapon? EDIT: Woah! Just looked over the Tip.It quest guide for Devious Minds... the image that came along with it? Pseudo-katana-and/or-Eastern-lands-sword, anyone? Maybe Devious Minds does have a connection to the Eastern lands, meaning the creepy monk guy who made you make that bow-sword does have a connection to Eastern-landians, and therefore meaning that the bow-sword has something to do with the Eastern lands.
  15. Skully's right, wrong forum (you might just want to report it next time, though, Skully ;)). You might want to check out The Gallery proper - more specifically The Gallery Rules, FAQ and Resources Announcement. :) Post locked. ~ Faelenof, Tip.It Forum Moderator
  16. Thanks for contributing and helping him improve. :-s If you think your pixel piece sucks, Hockey, don't post it. Don't post anything unless you're proud of what you've posted, otherwise you'll get some more enlightening replies like what Blue_Eggz said up there. :) But seriously, don't blame the program or your computer, Hockey. People can make some seriously amazing stuff on Paint, you'd be surprised, so you can't say it's Paint's fault that your sig isn't mindblowingly amazing. Those Paint experts put some serious work and practise in to get to where they are - don't be discouraged. I look at some of the older images of awesome pixellers and I'm surprised how far they've come. OK, back on topic, really. At the moment (wow, third time I've said something along these lines tonight ><) the best thing you can do is rock on up to the link that Mitsubishi posted up there and check out some tutorials. They help, like, woah. Mitsu's pretty much covered it, actually. I rocked on to this topic to give some C/C and it seems someone's already beaten me to it. ;_; It's a WIP (work in progress), I assume, due to the lack of sky. Anatomy problems with the character (check out some anatomy tutorials or websites via Google or something), and the landscaping (ie, the beach? and the sea) really don't give that beach-y feeling. Look at a few photographs and see how a beach is formed. A reference pic is always very helpful. :) I also use GraphicsGale, it's not too different from Paint, really - it just has layers and a few extra features to help pixelling. But it's not the program that makes the pixel, as I've said (read: rambled about) earlier. Good luck!
  17. Not much to add to what's already been said (moon's position is too crowded, shadow too plain, mountains appear and disappear too suddenly). The glow effect on the character is quite nice, although I reckon you could've added another shade between the glow-shade and the shadow proper, especially when it comes to the arms, torso and staff. It seems too sudden, and the choppy pixel edges really stand out, especially when it's a darkish sig like this one. He seems to be missing his hands too. :P Cracks on the stalagmites (stalagtites? Ugh, can never get them right. ><) don't feel very crack-like and more like really dark lines on a not-quite-so-dark surface. Try choosing a lighter shade, maybe? Looks like your attention sort of wavered in the background, as Elmo said, especially on the ground. Looks too plain, and again as Elmo stated, the mountain appearance and that random tower thing seem far too sudden. You could have dithered the sky a little too, to make the shade change a little smoother instead of gradient-ising it. Not bad, I like the glowish tone to it and the general monochromatic feel to it, but the lightest tones on the blue side of the scale just seem too sudden.
  18. 1 - Rykerr 2 (I'm a sucker for dragons, and that one looks pretty good to me. ^^) 2 - Runemetsa 3 (Very cool, very clean. :D) 3 - 4be2jue 2 (I actually rather like it. The thing that always gets me with your sigs, though, 4be, is the text placement. It's always feels randomly placed - work on that. :) Good job, though.)
  19. 'ello Kyle. :D A rather typical first pixel, to be honest. Unoriginal idea, really. :| I always seem to see ancient staves as first pixels. ;_; No shading that I can see... and not much else to rate. :| You'll be best off checking out the Gallery Forum FAQ Announcement (linked for your convenience), and checking out IV. User Guides. Check out a few of the guides there (I recommend DementedHero's and Terley's guides, and ImHomer's one is great too), use some of their tips, and make a scene - not just an item from RuneScape as that doesn't really leave for much creativity or showing any pixelling effort at all. Good luck, Kyle. :)
  20. Hey Inliner. :) It's alright for a first pixel. As BloodAngel said, it's rather lacking in the shading side of things, but then again, many first pixels are. It's very bland at the moment, to be honest. Your avatar has again, a lack of shading or detail, really. The best thing you can do right now, at this early stage in your pixelling 'career' (if that's what anyone in the pixelling scene can call it, haha), is go and read yourself some tutorials and familiarise yourself with the basics of pixelling. Check out The Gallery Announcement, Section IV. User Guides, for some awesome pixel tutorials. Granted, some of them are rather outdated, really, but you get the gist of it. I can guarantee you that with effort, time and determination, you can churn out some seriously 1337 pixels. Good luck!
  21. Hey everyone, just putting something up that I noticed in this month's Postbag from the Hedge... Note the bolded statement. "Master Robin is great archer - much revered profession in east." I feel like I'm looking too far in the future, but does this mean a large range update in the future? Do the Eastern lands have some sort of powerful range weapons/arrows/bolts/armour/whatever that we in the mainland have absolutely no idea about? Ak-Haranu also says that Robin's the only guy he wants to even know properly, because he's a very good archer. Why did they put Robin Hood there anyway? Not just because he was in a quest, but he must've been put in that quest for some reason. Bill Teach, Robin Hood and Ak-Haranu are the only living people in Port Phasmatys. Why? Why did JaGEx put them there specifically? Bill Teach was part of the pirate quests, so we can rule him out, I think, because his story's been fleshed out. But Robin Hood, whom Ak-Haranu seems to idolise a little from what I remember from Ghosts Ahoy!, is not a mage, not a warrior - but a ranger. They could've used a different character instead of Robin Hood in the Ghosts Ahoy! quest, but they used him. If and when the Eastern lands will be released, I think we can expect something for the rangers. Surely there's a reason for archery to be a "revered profession" in the Eastern lands, whether it be very powerful over the other side of the ocean, or very useful (eg, slaying some sort of monster, or doing some task that melee or magic can't, etc etc), right? Thoughts? Speculations? This is just me rambling, really, but I might have hit on something. :P P.S. Also something interesting but almost completely unrelated: "... only lamia and leech in forests". A lamia was something in Greek mythology that had "the head and torso of a woman, but the lower half of her body was serpentine" (taken from Wikipedia, all hail its greatness). I thought it would be something related to vampyres or something similar, as leeches and vampyres are the only things that live in the outskirts of Phasmatys. *shrug*
  22. Nice to see you back, Shadow! :D And still in excellent - if better - form. :) Excellent animal anatomy, as usual; you were always very good at that. ^^ For the horse piece: There doesn't seem to be a definite lightsource with the horse. Shading and some contrast with that piece would probably make it a little more dramatic, as there isn't any shadow over the hurdle thing (I forgot the term for it ><) that shows that the horse is jumping over it. The lack of light source in the pixel really kills it for me, as the poles look a little out of place. ;_; A background would've been awesome too, but that probably would've taken too long, or would've just entailed a lot of grass. :P It seems to be missing its fore-right-hoof too, otherwise that's just the perspective acting up on me. I feel as if you'd see the lower part of the fore-right-leg even a little, though - it wouldn't be completely behind the fore-left-leg, would it? Similar to the posters above, the white patch on the rear of the horse just doesn't sit well with me - it doesn't fit, as said, with the plain white background. The white socks (it's the term for cats, don't know if it applies to horses, haha) just above the hooves are fine, though. I don't know what you were going for, though, but the anatomy of the horse is definitely the highlight of the pixel. Good piece. :) Merlin piece: Excellent, excellent texturing. Almost seems like real fur - I really don't know how you do it. :o Anatomy is also, yet again, superb. There's something a little odd about the border between the head of the cat and it's left foreleg, though. Can't put my finger on it. Again, would've loved a background. This is easily the best pixel out of the three. :D Misty piece: One thing that stands out from this piece is the lack of shading, really. It stays the same uniform colour throught the entire cat, so it's a little difficult to tell the limbs from the main body. There isn't any shadowing, making the piece look largely flat and not as impressive as Merlin before - probably because Merlin's has a darker coat and kinda blends into the black background and Misty kinda sticks out. The eyes need a little work too, but they're quite possibly the most difficult part of any image to get right. Good effort. :) Your cats are very cute, mind putting a few photographs up so we know what they actually look like? :) Great job. You've improved in your strong points, for sure. Animal anatomy, animal texturing, animal pixels in general? Call Dark_Shadow today. :D Excellent work, great to see you back! EDIT: Geesh, I rambled, didn't I? ><
  23. Tiger's right, 104 is the way to go. The more people in teams the better, as you gain only a maximum of 100 'personal' POE and +2 POE per bottle of rum produced by your team - more team members = more things done = more POE. It's definitely not possible to do anything well with less than 5 people, unless they're very efficient. It took me about 2 days to get the full set (500 for the hat, 1000 apiece for the top and bottom). Tips: (because Trouble Brewing, unlike other mindless minigames like Pest Control, actually takes a bit of strategy) - Fastest way to get to the max 100 personal POE is to do 2 or 3 loads of water, then go and collect 1 or 2 loads of sweetgrubs or scrapey tree bark. That way, you can get your max 100 and also help the production of rum. - The max POE you can get through your own personal actions is 100, and 100 only. That means don't bother going for more than four full loads of water - it's a waste of your time and it's a waste of effort. - As stated before, you can only get a max of 100 personal, but the team contribution is 2 extra POE per bottle of rum produced. I've gotten about 130-140 POE maximum, I believe, and that was with a nice, experienced team. - Don't be put off if you don't get a healthy amount of POE in your first few runs; it's a rather complicated game and does take a little getting used to. Good luck, it's an awesome minigame that isn't endless slaughter of bugs. :D
  24. Wrong forum, mate, this subforum is for offering graphics to others or requesting graphics. :) This topic belongs in The Gallery proper, so I've moved it there for you. ^^ ~ Faelenof, Tip.It Forum Mod
