  1. It's not efficient at all, but I tend to just do solo meds. There is nothing worse than spending an hour on a large and dying four times because all the people you are with refuse to risk dying against a boss and leave you high and dry.
  2. The new training method is fun, but it won't be popular for very long if it isn't rebalanced. The EXP rate is fair enough, but the charm accumulation rate is very low. This will likely be a "hobby" tool for people, such as some other things like Trouble Brewing currently are. Could be a lot worse.
  3. As long as you can catch it, it will count. I know you can barehand the sharks in Neitznot with Admiral Pies, so I'm fairly certain you can boost to Mantas. Give it a shot!
  4. Depends on your desire for speed vs. cash. Method you described is outstanding exp, horribly expensive. Daily battlestaves yield 10k/day exp and make money (when you can do it). Converting sand and seaweed to glass and making orbs is a pretty good cashmaker, even better if you charge the orbs (and good magic exp too!). Spinning flax is also pretty much a time-honored source of exp and cash, although it can be painful.
  5. Or trying to do it without following guides.
  6. I think it's pretty established that chaotics are better, but I don't care. My SGS is grossly impractical and overvalued and I don't care because I love it and its pretty and it got me to 99 slayer.
  7. Well, as a testament to laziness, I won't because I don't -have- to. The elite cape is an excellent tele very close AND a free pray recharge, so I won't be using slay rings for that. Not to mention the Elite cape is an excellent candidate for a cheap combat cape, easily replaceable. And you get 150 essence / day (which adds up quickly). And it's right next to the farmy patch. And it restores summoning once / day (good if bringing multiple familiars).
  8. The key to the fight is the defilers. If you can attack them and then trap them between you and the Pest Queen, it will be a very easy fight. If you can't, just focus on killing them quickly, and focus on the sword specs to stop the Pest Queen's special while killing the defilers. The archers will do the damage for you, AND kill the healers, as long as you can keep them alive.
  9. Claws = tens of millions Korasi's Sword = free Certainly a huge VALUE edge there.
  10. Hrm, is that through the slayer dungeon / AJR ring? I'll believe you at face value on that one, but must counter that the elite cape doesn't -ever- dissolve.
  11. You folks are crazy, the rewards are GREAT! Varrock - the 16 extra staves is great, the elite armor looks magnificent, and double bork drops is tremendous for someone that doesn't just nolife combat. It has helped me get closer and closer to banking the charms I need for 96 summon. Falador - the double pray renewal is really nice! This is a really useful reward at places like dark beasts, frost dragons, etc. I haven't gotten this one yet but can't wait for it (2 more pray levels!). Ardy - Fantastic. The teleports that cape offer are wonderful. The farm patch lets you access the polar bear well up there, the farming patch, the 150 essence/day wizard really quickly. The monastery teleport lets you recharge pray instantly, and is also THE FASTEST TELEPORT TO A FAIRY RING IN THE GAME. I use this at least 5X / day. Lumbridge - terrific again, love this one. Cabbage port is a lovely one click tele, unlimited now. Small pray bonus is also useful. Very easily attained. And has no one mentioned that all the elite capes offer you 200k exp in a skill of your choice? That's amazing!
  12. This was my method too. Hang back, let them come to you. Since you counterattack if not killed, it's crazy to attack anything you won't kill with your first shot. The Champion is an unbalanced, dominant piece that can kill just about everything with ease. Be sure to use regenerate and it's a walk in the park.
  13. I beat her on the second try without using a guide or without having the truly elite levels available (no metal titans, no turmoil). Simply enough, I just used sara brews with super restores and a turtle full of sharks. Some key notes: 1. I pray melee the whole battle, but no piety. The Pest Queen will hit you with steady and hard shots. My gear was set to defend against magic. 2. With Protect Melee on, you need only pay attention to three things: your hit point level, using the Korasi Sword Spec on the Pest Queen when she does her side-charging pose (you have some time here!), and killing the Elite Defilers. 3. Defilers will be your largest threat here. I know some people say to let them stay alive and attack you, but i disagree. They hit HARD, yet die easily. I'd much rather keep watching for them and not plow through food. Either way, make sure you get to them very fast when they show up; they will obliterate your archers if left unattended. 4. Stay calm. As long as you look for the spec, the battle will last a long time and it is not unreasonably to never see your HP drop below 400. There are some natural nerves that develop when the battle comes down towards the end, since I was nervous about getting killed after such an ordeal. Once you find a system that works for you, you're pretty much home free. Unlike Nomad's Requiem, this battle is very manageable without luck, and the quest has a nice, tight little plot and moves quickly. Lots of fun with a good award. 4.9/5 in my eyes!
  14. Honestly, I thought they were all quite good. There were none that I saw and felt the need to be "polite" about; I seem to remember in past galleries that there's one that is really terrible and everyone calls it stuff like "a nice effort" and "diluted by other quality". The Red Dragon pic is the worst and it's still way better than I could hope to do. The Gallery bar has been raised on the par, even if the top pieces have always been terrific.
  15. The most effective way to run a clan is to have a small community; it is correct that any newcomers will slow you down, but be patient and see if they are willing to play as a team. Selfish players, who go off on their own or do not fight and risk death, should be banned at all costs. They are a poison to the water. In my experience, the fastest large teams use gatestones effectively and travel very quickly TOGETHER. Splitting up is generally bad for everyone.
  16. I'm almost a full week behind. I have all the pieces of set #29 completed, and can complete set 29 Monday night. If it's just a cosmetic statue, I'm completely cool with that. Aesthetically, I'd prefer if Dhamaroc actually came to life and walked around like a human "pet" in your POH. The flash animation at each breakage foreshadows some humanity in the statue. If the statue in my house just explodes, I'd be really, really pissed.
  17. 20k points and then I range the face off all those mages that think Ancients are unstoppable. ;)
  18. Unfortunately, as long as people require skills and have the means to use bots, people will cheat to level up. Jagex has done a really nice job in pulling down demand (due to the stoppage of free-market exchange and intro of GE) and introduction of skills which are much more difficult to auto-level (Dungeoneering). Ultimately, the best thing you can do is report the bots consistently. That's the best way for the community to remove them; if people understand that there is a LARGER chance to lose their character for botting, less people will take that chance.
  19. You really answered your own problem here, no? The release of the elite diaries was a little humbling for me. I generally consider myself at that second rung, right below those whom are either maxed or really close to it. This update exposed a lot of the shortcomings of my character's skills. Ultimately, it's a great motivator. I have some nice new long term goals (91 Runecrafting, 95 Pray, 95 Summon) that were already things I would have liked, but now have a better reason to chase after. Absolutely -LOVE- the rewards, too. Not too heavily overpowered, but definitely worth the time invested in training and executing. This, by my standards, was a four-star update.
  20. Are you tanning them? Assuming you have all the needles, tanned bodies, and thread, I would say 1000 bodies/hour, or 3000 hides. Very rough guess.
  21. Stealing Creation has officially crushed my soul. I absolutely despise it now, and have played it very little since my last blog cried and moaned. I am logging on daily essentially to do dailies right now, and that's about it. Battlestaves get done, an effigy somewhere is assisted, poor little Bork gets slaughtered, and Stormy jumps back into the perpetual thin air. If there are some new Penguins hopping about, I chase after them, too. There is the constant pleasure I get from doing those shattered heart rocks. I have 25 sets complete, and the full set for 26 has been collected, due to hand in Thursday. Unfortunately, I will not be able to hand them in next week, as I will be traveling Thursday-Monday (and missing the EXP weekend! EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE). That means I'll finish the entire Shattered Heart collection almost a week late, after nearly a year of dilligent rock-chasing. Crap. I need roughly 600 more Stealing Creation points until I can move on to level Construction. At -that- point, I'll get 91 construction and never have to do it again; I can simply collect free exp via effigies and call it a career on awful Stealing Creation. I still look for excuses every time I log in to do something different than SC.
  22. Dungeoneering is fun to play but sucks to level. It is simply far too tedious, and requires absolute focus. The rewards are now transferrable (with chaotics) but not necessary. Non combat skills offer you little to nothing. Since most time is spent rushing, skills like farming, herblore, smithing, mining, woodcutting, and hunting are not used (although they could be). Level doors are based solely on YOUR existing levels, so you never need to level up to open more doors (which is incredibly dumb). Dungeoneering is the skill to train when you're done with all the other skills. Once you have chaotic weapons and any buyables you really want, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to dungeoneer. I understand the same can be said for most skills, however the level 120 implies a higher priority for this skill. I'd still give the skill an 8/10; it is far more "good" than "bad".
  23. I do generally prefer to play Stealing creation the way it was "designed" to be played. Since range was my first 99 and first love, I adore getting all C5 geared up in rangey outfits and blasting the face off all those mages. Mage is still overpowered in SC, but it leads to loads of mages who aren't going to beat me 1v1 against 99 range with eagle eye potted. Even with that, after two or three games, I'm burnt.
  24. Going for 90+ is no small task. It's almost always ugly; lots of time spent doing things you may not necessarily enjoy. I am also a giant cheapskate, and refuse to pay more than the reasonable minimum to level any skill. As such, to get from 85 to 90 construction, i'm spending lots of time stealing creation. Gross. Whether I play the fast version (super tedious) or the traditional format (slow), I love the game. Unfortunately, you need to play sooo many times in order to accumulate sufficient points to carry through a long-term goal such as this. All of my oak planks are sitting there, waiting, laughing at me. Mocking me. And there is virtually nothing I can do to stop them.
