  1. Martin is doing a book signing tour for A Dance With Dragons and is stopping by near my town. I bought a ticket today :P I guess it's time I finish the books now? XD
  2. You've got some great stuff in here :)
  3. Well we do have this old Clan Chat Directory thread. It was a sticky at one point but due to a lack of use it was unstickied a few months ago.

Fun stuff :) I wish they were bigger though :( I like the grass and rocks ones the best!
  5. My guess would be around $14.99 per month. That's about the standard for these games.
  6. Congratulations you two :)
  7. House Castle Dexter Fringe Chuck Spartacus White Collar Game of Thrones The Mentalist Covert Affairs Lie To Me Suits Alphas Sherlock Prison Break ..I think I got them all :P
  8. Last night I saw X-Men First Class. I thought it was entertaining :P It wasn't z0mg epic like I thought Origins was but I still enjoyed it. There was kind of less intense action and more back story and cheesy lines, but I thought the cheesiness was kind of funny :P Tonight I saw V For Vendetta for the first time... awesome :P
  9. It is within her right, but it's also within our rights to have opinions :P Though I'm fine with changing the topic at this point since we're clearly just talking in circles.
  10. Anyone who posts here about their relationship makes their life and the life of the other person our business :P
  11. I didn't mean alone without other people, I meant solely the fact that it's at the age of 15.
  12. Drunk at that age alone makes me raise an eyebrow. Publicly drunk at that age is just trashy.
  13. Wow that's awesome :) It would be a very cool (and I imagine rewarding) job but all the intense schooling is kind of daunting :P
  14. Unfortunately we really do ask that our applicants have at least 150 posts :( If you are a couple posts (like 5) short that's fine but you're about 60 short and that's quite a lot :( We really need post count for a few reasons: It shows involvement and activity. We need moderators who are around a lot, have free time to dedicate to the site, and regularly engage with the community. While we do look for good moderator qualities, it is also fairly important to us that moderators be known within the community and post count helps with that. It's not meant to be a popularity contest but the role of a moderator is to be a community leader, interact with the community, and be a spokesperson for the community (in addition to the typical moderator stuff like removing bad content). So being known within the community helps with that, also because regular users like having moderators that they know well and see around a lot. A higher post count allows us to get a sense of the candidate's personality, behavior and longstanding dedication to Tip.It. If you only have a few posts, it's really not enough for us to get a good sense of who you are over a long period of time. It gives us reassurance and backs up what you say in your application. If someone writes in their application that they're very dedicated to Tip.It and have a lot of time to moderate the forums and they love getting involved, it doesn't hold much weight without evidence. So for the dedication, we like to see people who have been around a while and have been consistently active for that time. We understand people take vacations, have real life stuff, etc. but it's easier to see the consistency through the vacations if you've been around longer. For the time part, this is also where post count comes in handy. If someone is posting a lot, that's proof that they spend a decent amount of time on Tip.It and thus also have time to dedicate to being a moderator. And for involvement, we really look for people who are in touch with the community and strive to be a part of it. Don't misunderstand that we think "the higher post count the better moderator," because that's certainly not true! But the above points explain why we do set some minimum standards. We have had some fabulous moderators who came on board with only 300 posts, and there are some forum users with thousands of posts who would not make great moderators. Honestly the big problem is that with so few posts, you'd have a hard time matching up against the other candidates who do meet the post count requirement. Even if you present yourself really well in an application and seemingly meet the other qualities we're looking for, you'll probably be outshone by the people who have the same qualities but also have a higher post count. You can always work on engaging more in preparation for the next recruitment drive :)
  15. Yeah... let's not discuss breaking the law please ;) So no advertising that website.
  16. In the meantime you can always hit "preview" before you submit your post. It refreshes the posts listed beneath the reply box so you can check that way to see if there are new posts.
  17. Hevendor_Guy please take your complaints to private message. You have been asked to do so multiple times and you need to be respectful of that request.
  18. I thought there was like an emote or something that was 500 points? :P Or did I skim over it too quickly? EDIT: SerpentEye beat me!
  19. I've been dabbling into the world of 3D modeling. Honestly.. it's a bit of a PITA :D I'm also transferring to a different university in September and I'm SOOOOOO psyched    Congrats on buying a house! That's definitely awesome!
  20. Seeing this blog bumped was a shocker :P Hey Th3_Crusader! It's been a long time ;o I hope you're doing well :)
  21. Thanks to all those who participated in this year's TET recruitment Drive! We had some excellent applications and the best ones saw them get through to the Tip.It Events Team! The new members are: Gradeskip93 TheKoolKandy Andufusthebronze (AU) Brainymidget 3PointMan Please feel free to congratulate them in the usual manner on this thread <3: Welcome to the team!
  22. This is a scam e-mail. I would recommend that you read Jagex's newpost about scam e-mails: http://services.runescape.com/m=news/jagex-emails--how-to-know-its-safe- Jagex will only send you e-mails for the RuneScape Newsletter (and other promotional stuff) or if you attempt to recover your account (using the "from e-mail" option). They'll NEVER e-mail you to "confirm you are the original owner," or to inform you of offenses on your account, etc. People can trick the header into saying [email protected]
  23. It can really be anything you want! You could put together an art contest or caption contest and the admins could "sponsor" it with a rank contest prize. Or you could use your own prize if you have a membership card you'd like to give away (as an example). Other examples of projects include maintaining stickies. We have several awesome moderators who take on big sticky index projects that require constant updating. The most obvious example here is the real life pictures thread: http://forum.tip.it/topic/267879-real-life-pictures-4/ . I remember in the past, pre-Grand Exchange, I would spend like 4 hours a week updating our huge price guide :D And finally, another example is just taking the extra mile to gauge the community's response to our moderation. On a few occasions moderators have stepped up to organize polls or discussion threads. Again, these things aren't really required in the same sense as the other two points were. They're just other examples of what a moderator could do as a community leader. We're always open to any other ideas that moderators have for fun contests/projects/etc. :) Yep signing out is temporary. Whenever a moderator will be absent from the forum for more than a day or two, we ask that they let us know by "signing out." And a moderator may choose to resign permanently whenever they want if they lose interest, or real life becomes too hectic, etc. Subforums are regarded as individual forums with that number. So it's a combination of forums and subforums, totaling up to 8. The entire Local Moderator group has moderator permissions in those 8 forums. So we can't actually take their powers away in a few forums but they are not obligated to actually moderate all 8. So if they're only interested in 5 or those 8 forums, then they only have to moderate those 5. It's just the way the group is set up to have access to those 8 forums. We mainly use Skype to communicate. A few other staff members use IRC but it isn't as popular. I'd say the most popular methods of communication are (in order): skype > forum > IRC. Absolutely
  24. Moderators are expected to: Respond to user submitted reports and deal with any rule violations they find during their casual browsing. Participate in private moderator discussions to form policies, revisit old rules, add new rules, etc. Moderators are encouraged to take on projects like forum contests, etc., but is not really "required" like the above two points are. Desirable qualities and qualifications: We have no formal RuneScape knowledge qualifications. In this recruitment drive we will prefer candidates who are currently playing RuneScape and demonstrate good knowledge of the game, but we have no set requirements. A certain level of maturity and professionalism. Unbiased and fair. Good sense of judgement. Teamworker. F2P players are equally considered :) We don't have a specific time requirement, but we would prefer that moderators be online at least around 2-3 hours a day. Honestly I just pulled that number out of thin air but it sounds good. Not all of this time has to be spent moderating and it wouldn't all have to be in one sitting (it could be scattered throughout the day). Moderators do not have to work shifts or at certain times, it is whenever possible. Moderators can also sign out if they have a busy period in real life, go on vacation, etc. Moderator trainees are given 1 or 2 forums of their choosing. Local moderators have 8 boards which they can moderate by default. In addition to those 8 they can choose 1-2 more that are not covered by those 8. Global and super moderators have moderator powers in all forums. However, even though global and super moderators have powers everywhere, they are not obligated to moderate everywhere. We give them powers everywhere so that they CAN deal with emergencies, spambots, etc. But if they prefer, they can stay within their chosen forums. All important information is posted in private moderator forums. We never have in-game meetings. We do, however, greatly encourage our moderators to participate in on-going group messenger conversations. It's much easier to moderate this way because you can easily ask people for a second opinion, etc. Great questions :) I hope my answers help.
