Do you keep your runes and other drops from previous trips? If not, I dont get how you can do so many chests in that set up (straight mleeing everything it seems?) -
Time them in which way?

Chaos Tunnel Waterfiends with new Prayer Curses
bedman replied to Logdotzip's topic in General Guides
No, their charm drop rate is awful. No idea why Jagex did that. And I also call foul on claims of 200+ crimsons/hour. 150/hour is a more reasonable figure. Yep, 200 an hour is a pretty big exaggeration. I personally manage 170-180 with an iron titan, and that's ON task. Also, he claims as if soul split and turmoil made this possible to do, but it was already a very good option before (and actually faster, because piety gives a bigger bonus than turmoil there) these prayers. It was just a bit harder to survive there long enough. -
Pretty nice . I would never recommend an AGS for speccing though.

I agree with this, I often make more money from bones and hides by doing this, than I would by getting hatchets or rings. Solo hybriding can guarantee 100+ of each, every trip. Yep, and the talismans seem a little low too. Last trip I had 8.4m in loot. I had only one big drop, a D axe. The rest is from bones and hides (140 of each) and Talismans (Nearly 3m all together) + miscellanious. To me it seems you profit more of just talismans, than axes. Now, to answer your question: I recently had 2 Dag tasks, and decided to kill Dk's for them, and I totally fell in love. It's so damn fast now with full slayer helm, overloads, (and turmoil if I feel like it) + very very consistent money (6m in non special drops on a 3h trip).

I cant't really tell my kill rate, since I had quite a few interruptions. First I had some trouble finding a world. I think I ended up in a 800 pop. world and did some kills. Then I had to leave because I had diner. When I got back I tried getting a more populated world and that took some tries too (I also had some battles against a Mage for Rex which ended up with me hopping worlds). I ended up in a 1350 one, but at some point there was a guy trying to crash me. He was killing Sup while I was still killing Rex etc. In the end he gave up though. Quite fun fact here: I was killing Rex and I saw him finishing off Prime and getting over to Supreme. So as soon as I finished my Rex I hurried over to Supreme (not checkign Rex's drop) to get the kill. I did get it (hard to battle my high str outfit, overload, turmoil and 15% task bonus). I pick up Supreme's drops, hurry over to Rex's lure spot to find a Dragon Hatchet over there :-). I also stayed longer than my task and even a few kills after my overloads ran out. All this together resulted in me being back in my house with 10 min left on my second yak and 76 kills. I do remember vaguely that I had the task complete message after about 40 minutes (looking at my overloads, so not counting the time to get there), and I had 41 to kill left, so around 60 an hour for the first, uninterrupted part seems about right. That was in an unpopulated world though. So yeah, it might be possible to go over 65/h or even 70 at a 1300+ world, but remember there is more competition in those world with solo magers who want fast Rex spawns. Also, remember I ended up with too much brews not only because I was brewing less, but also because I was praying more (using turmoil all the time on Sup). An interesting fact is that Prime dies from time to time because of my deflect mage, but I didn't see any drops from him. On the DFS/BCP part. I'd start with buying the BCP. Not only because it's cheaper, but also because it's just perfect for that setup. There is really no good substitute out there. Max ranged defence, max str bonus and a small prayer bonus. I looked at Verac's brassard, but it doesn't even come close to make up for the lost ranged defence and str bonus. For the DFS, I was actually thinking about maybe bringing an Arcane in stead. It was 20 ranged bonus less, but I end up with 20 more magic attack and a +3 prayer bonus. I opted for the dfs in the end because a +7 str is nice, and I figured Rex would die easily enough anyway. All this is nice and such, but actually I seemed to profit more from hybridding Supreme and Prime, because of the regular talisman drops of Prime. If I had gotten a zerker, things would have changed though, so I'm not sure. I guess Prime is more reliable if you need consistent money fast (I'm talking about 2m+ in tallies per trip), but Rex should be more profit in the long run perhaps. One last thing: I sometimes forgot to put on guthix mage cape when maging, but could still cast my spells. I thought it was required to cast it, or is it just for the mage bonus?

I'm pretty sure Ahrim top + Verac skirt > Verac brassard + Ahrim bottom (both in magic offense and ranged defense). IMO, the perfect mage set up is (making sure you at least keep some ranged defense) Torag/Verac helm Ahrim top Ahrim bottom Infinity boots Fury Arcane spirit shield Onyx (i) Staff of light (if on ancients) God cape or maybe Ardy cloak (+6 mage attack, and also nice prayer bonus). You might wanna wear dragon boots and fire cape if you plan on using claw specs or some other form of melee.

with my melee stats (defense is irrelevant, I prayed) I can get 40+ KBDs a load on task flickering piety, ofc I have a unicorn...but he should still be able to get 20+ he shouldnt try to get 20+ though, because you can't bank bones and hides then. It's better to either get a pack yak and bank them, or do short trips with lava titan.

Just tried hybridding Rex and Supreme and it worked like a charm! I used BCP and DFS like you suggested, and copied about everytyhing else. I also went with curses in stead of normal prayer. All in all, everything worked great. I like the fact that I don't need to worry about Prime at all. And supreme is a real [kitty] with nearly maxed ranged def + turmoil and overload. I tried a population of 1.3k and still managed to kill Supreme well in time (at least while overload, at the end I was out of overloads and didn't manage anymore + my task was over). I ended up with 10 brews left though.

Not with void, diamonds and eagle eye :D :D :D You last like 4 kills when you go DKs in void. Anywho maybe someone who has done rex-prime before could shed some light on this. Look in my topic here in help and advice (dk kills / h). On the Prime Issue: On task (so using slayer helm), using karil bott and top + dfs, using runite bolts and flashing eagle eye, Prime gets totally owned. I sometimes manage to kill Prime before Sup has even even spawned, and you got to take into account that I'm mostly waiting around 20 sec after Sup dies for then next Prime. So off-task, using full black'hide/karil and flashing eagle eye with runite botls, should do the job.

You guys should make some elite guides on monsterhunting. Seriously.

Aha, now we are talking! Thanks a lot guys, can't wait to try out the alternative hybriddings. Especially the Supreme + Rex interestests me. It is true though that Prime drops a [cabbage]load of talismans. I'm around 80 min in and I have over 100 water tallies, 60 earth tallies and 40 air tallies. However, 56 kills an hour sounds very tempting. Not sure what I'm averaging right now. I'll check when I'm back in the bank and can count my bones and hides.

Thanks. Part of the problem is my Yak, since I'm constantly busy picking up drops and sending drops home, or trying to find brews in it. On top of that, I'm overloading so I have to keep track of my LP, not brewing too much when I'm about to get healed 500 LP, etc. So yeah, if it gets messy, it can get really messy. The fact that you can pull 800 while off task, without overloads, and lesser stats encourages me to try at least a bit higher though. Just got my seconds axe drop (solo) ever by the way :-)

Nice guide, I liked the hints and tips section in particular. I do have a question though: Right now I'm solo hybridding as part of my slayer task. I'm using a whip + DFS and SGS to spec. I'm also using overloads, and I'm flashing piety when I can (not picking up drops and sending them home or trying to find brews in my yak). This way, I manage to kill Supreme well in time on a 1050 population world. I have about enough time to pick up Supremes drops, pick up the previous Prime drops and start sending them home (well, mostly Prime respawns while I'm sending them home). Do you suggest going much higher in population, or would it cause too much hectic situations? If so, by how much? Is there a certain formula for respawn time in function of population? I guess around 5 sec less per respawn shouldn't be a problem, yet it would add up. A last question is whether you have any tips on organising the invo in your yak. I've been trying some things out 2 times now, and it always ends up at somet point with me being in the middle of a kill and in desperate need of a brew, yet, when I press "take bob" all I seem to get is super restores, extra pouches or antipoison (++). I either have to drop stuff and keep taking things out (not knowing what will come) till a brew pops out, or quickly run up the ladder and take it out near the obelisk (actually did this a few times when Rex got on me since I was up anyway). This however puts me on a very tight schedule to kill Supreme. So, any tips, or is this part of the disadvantages of a Yak? (I have been trying brew brew brew prayer pot but somehow it never works out. Mind you also that I have 9 overloads and 9 super prayer potions at the beginning of the trip which I can't put in my yak).

Bump. Just did a trip (still there, but logged ) in a 1050 population world and I'm managing fine with my whip + dfs and flashing piety when I can. I still have some time left to pick up Supreme's drops, run to Prime's drops, and start sending the items home. Not sure whether I should try higher populations. I technically can handle it, since I'm still having some spare time, but without the spare time, things might get a little too hectic? Does anybody have a formula on respawn times as a function of world population?
-
Right now I hopped once because someone was solo trybridding and ended up in an empty world (which I dont want since I'm solo hybridding) so either I was lucky or it's still pretty easy. I would personally not bring extreme mage pots, but I guess they are worth it yeah. You should be able to survive just on soulsplit alone I think. 60 hp each Rex kill is tremendously, assuming you are good at flashing it (but I assume you will not do this when pulling him so take a bit less). It comes down to 1800 hp an hour, which is better than the 1200 a unicorn is doing. Let's be more realistic and say you will manage to soul split 200 out of rexes hp, then you will be as good as a uni. Once you get 95, use fire surge for better xp.
-
I'm wondering about the same, but for supreme.
-
For consistent drops, that's most likely DK's. It's sad you don't have a yak, because right now I'm solo hybridding and I'm making over 1M an hour just on regular drops. (you will still make good profit on talisman drops though, I have 100 water tallies after 1h right now). Add in the occasional D axe and Archer, and it's easily over 2M an hour. The good thing is you should get a drop almost every hour, unique in the boss hunting business.

If you have dagannoths as a task, then I would recommend bringing the balmung, but if you're only there killing them normally, only using SGS might be a better option. As for your ranged weapon, either bring the crossbow + DFS, or use a Crystal Bow, in which case I would use Balmung. But hey, you could do a few trips to see which one suits you better. I do have them as a task. It's just that Balmung neither has the high prayer bonus of SGS, nor does it have the option to wear a shield (whip) AND it protects over a lot. AND hits a lot harder than both of those weapons. I'm using whip right now and I seem to do perfectly fine on a 1k pop world. (That's solo, with overloads, on task, and flashing piety if I'm not too busy sending drops home etc.). Are you sure Balmung is this much better? -

There's a lot to be updated, tbh. For one, soul split and turmoil makes meleeing much more viable than it ever was already.

Of course, I will always bring an sgs for speccing, but considering it's prayer bonus and the decent DPS, it just seems a bit pointless to bring another weapon, if it isn't a lot better, especially if the alternative is one handed too. (last time I brought a whip, because this way I can wear a DFS, crossbow for the same reason) -
Lol. It just seems like you are alwyas trying to make your statements more controversal by not telling the full story.
-
Don't be so vague, just because you like it and add that d'hide is accurate because you can wear barrow gloves with it (and fighter hat).

Pita, would you suggest Balmung over Whip or SGS for meleeing Sup (and whip over SGS)?
