  1. That's a whole lot of words for nothing, cause like people said, if timed right, you don't loose time. And even if you did, those 20 prayer lvls wouldn't make this much off a difference tbh to make you use a worse weapon.
  2. I dont think so, because nearly all raw materials will be used right after it. Not saying it won't crash, but maybe not as bad as you would think.
  3. Overloads will be crazy. If you get 1.6x xp for the first 10 hours on average, overloads will be only 18 gp/xp, and will get you 1m xp/h. Overloads are already 1.3m exp an hour -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG_6fmKExeo I really hope they don't do this again, it's ruining the economy. Every single skill is stupidly hard to buy. It's 2 weeks of a messed up economy. Not to mention that a lot of merch clans are setting their items in the next 0-4 hours. I'm sure this has been elaborated on. Seriously wtf dragon bones aren't even buying and you can't use a POH Altar for extra experience Damn, that's insane. Personally I only managed 600 an hour, but that was without mousekeys. Anyway, castle wars is gonna be hell to find your kyatt, I just realised :(. Another thought of mine: Would it be possible to get a jad task and log out right before jad, then log in at the weekend, defeat Jad and get 75k xp? Or does Jad count as some sort of quest reward?
  4. Short term, yes it does reduce the amount of raw materials as everyone is hording them for the weekend. However long-term this does have benefits. Think of all the people gathering raw materials atm, likley more than normal. If we go by the rule that people were going to get the levels anyways, double xp or not, this will cause the current amount of raw materials in game to essentially increase compared to the amount of people that were going to use them. If I were going to use 5k irits for herb, update or not, that means my 5k irits count as almost 10k irits (or more). This means that in the future when I may have needed to buy those extra 5k irits to get to 10k used, I don't have to. That means there are 5k extra surplus irits that would of been used by me, but now they sit in GE for someone else. Because of that it will create a slight surplus on some raw materials, and in the long run reduce some inflated prices on raw materials making it actually easier to buy them in the GE. What we are going to see is a spike similar to a merchanting clan, but broad based across all skilling supplies. It will keep going up until that weekend then crash. The crash will likley bring prices down lower than they are now, until another xp update like this is announced. As for prayer, unless people plan to ecto, dragon bone prices likley wont be effected much at all by this update. I would think the opposite, in the weekend, nearly all resources will be used, because people will train skills they weren't planning to train just because those are the most effective. Take herblore, you think a lot of herbs will be left after the weekend? I don't think so.
  5. Overloads will be crazy. If you get 1.6x xp for the first 10 hours on average, overloads will be only 18 gp/xp, and will get you 1m xp/h.
  6. I got some summoning seconds I might trade for torstol?
  7. I haven't collected from my kingdom for 2 months now. Herbs still the best I guess and maybe maples now for some seeds? Any advice is welcome. I'm also happy I'm already 98 sumoning and have enough seconds for 99 (+ a lot of leftover, not sure what to do with it yet) + I have 80k red chins from a failed merch haha.
  8. Inflation has ended on the "normal items" and people realised there was still a lot of excess cash, so they started spending it on rares. With phats and edibles bought out, santas and masks were the logical next step. I dont see santas ever going under 40m again, unless a major money sink is introduced.
  9. I don't drink any waterskins and I'm fine.

I mostly wear sw cape, v skirt and bcp, but tbh a verrac's brassard, prossy top, or dh top for defence are much better value for your money. I would sell the bcp if it really did take a big hit in your cash pile, and invest in pray pots so you can 10%str/piety/turmoil tasks. This saves you MUCH more time than a "stupid" bcp. Don't get a dfs either. I have one and the only task I use it is wyverns. For every other task rune defender is better, or fally shield, if you want to save some ppots (I use these on bloodvelds for instance, since they already have such low def and I'm turmoiling + deflect melee'ing them, which eats a lot of pots).
  11. Nice one, I made 3.6k overloads myself too. So happy I got my torstols at only 3-7k each. Actually, I got my materials at these prices: Super attack: 1600 each Avantoes: 4500 each Super defence: 750 each Lants: 6000 each Super str: 4300 each (not sure actually) Dwarf weed: 7000 each Magic pots: 5000 each Ranged pots: 4800 each Spikes: 2000 each Torstol: 3000-7000 each. Totals to almost 50k an overload, which gives 2.2k xp, so that's very decent IMO, especially since it gives me a "free" lifetime supply of pots. I see you payed around 70k each (well, thats what you'd get if you sold everything) so yeah, I'm happy :-)). (typed this out more for myself than anything actuall).

How much does a bolt alch for? I dont think they will drop this low that alching would become a viable option.
  13. Duke Freedom? He got banned for that exact reason if I recall (price manipulation via cornering a market). Actually he got banned for RWT, however, he did use the money he earned from it for his college payments, so that's good. He was a nice person telling from the few posts of his I've seen. NO, not duke freedom. But yeah, he was a nice guy.
  14. The end of free trade and (serious attempt at) RWT saw a LOT of resources and items being dumped into the market. So through 2008 there was a major defaltion. Since then, the market has rebounded normally and has been inflating for quite a while (inflation is normal in a healthy economy). The problem comes with Jagex's implimentation of pure GP rewards into PVP combat. They also reveiled how the system works so there were many people doing what they call '76k-ing' where a person would die holding 76k and the person who killed them got anywhere from 5k-5M. This massive influx of GP into the game without anything leaving caused what players have called 'hyperinflation'. I think over the course of 5 months prices of general things like logs, ores etc jumped up by 50-70%. The items hit the hardest were the discontinued items which people have hoarded since they were introduced, but more people with enough GP to hoard, the more left the 'active' economy to be stashed away in players' banks. There are known to be several players with over 1000 santa hats each, that's how bad hoarding has become. So yes, even with minor crashes when hoarders sell off some of their stocks the general trend is up...up....and AWAY! Yes, this too. Take the price of oil IRL as an example. Even though it's becoming more rare and would keep rising, it wouldn't be as bad as it is. The reson it went up so high (this past summer) was because the value of the US$ dropped. Thus it takes more $ to buy the same amount of gas. I remember a guy here on the forum a long time ago, who was collecting 500 santa's. At that time, santa's were only 150k each, so if he still has all of them, this guy is insanely rich.
  15. Check out the topic like 2 under this one. In short, people were able to turn 1 dbolt into 12 enchanted dbolts. People were making 60M+ per hour worth and I hear of people with many B worth. Jagex is going into banhammer mode atm so if those abusers bought rares with the GP then those rares are going to leave the game. My guess is that few if any of these accounts bought major rares. As we've discussed many times, a large cash pile does not equal the ability to buy a partyhat. However, it's conceivable that some of these could have bought masks and/or santas. Perhaps that explains the extremely strong buyout of these items that previously had been impossible to buy out for long? Anyway, if a lot of santas and masks disappear, we could end up with a world in which partyhats are not the only rares that can't be bought with gp. That seems very far fetched, but who knows? Any other opinions on santa's? I happened to have picked up 5 at 33m each and not sure what to do with em. I don't want to step into the junk market, but I dont really need the money either, so selling for cash when they peak is not that interesting to me either (well, of course I could rebuy for lower, but then I risk not being able to get some again if they get bought out again). I guess I will just keep em, or do people think that in the long run they will stay under 60m? I always seem to make the wrong decisions with rares so yeah... (sold white phat for 170m half a year ago or so and more of this stuff)
  16. I think I got the full xp last time while failing once. Normally I do get less xp though.
  17. More items ARE a money sink. Just think logicly. More items entering than cash entering => less cash per item. However, like Bladewing said, inflation has more or less reached its peak, in the sense that only the rarest items are affected only. Remember bandos plate shooting from 15m to 25m in a matter of weeks, this is gone.
  18. Ouch, you didn't die I guess?
  19. Flipper sell and resell. I can't see how they affect the supply or demand since it's basicly a back-forth situation. Remove the flipper and you still have the same amount of items. You put your item in at min, with a flipper you get your item instantly sold for a little under min. Without a flipper, you get it sold instantly for little under med. The so called "convenience fee" you are paying is only caused because flippers are buying the items BEFORE you at lower prices so you HAVE TO put max, to get it instantly. Without flippers buying all those items at, say, a little above mid price, you wouldn't need to pay max to get it instantly, but just a little above mid. It's the flippers who are causing you to have patience to get something at the "normal" price.
  20. Indeed. It would make the difference between straight out grinding (fm) and a skill based minigame (fight caves) very clear.
  21. Seems right and your lvls are high enough. Just get farming since it is a usefull skill. My guide in siggy has some more information too. Grey chins top at 260k xp an hour, red chins at 340k xp an hour (95-99)
  22. Since Soma explained it all so brilliantly, I think everyone should understand now, so the only way where you can disagree is indeed on what you consider "stealing" And of course, not "everyone" doesn't give a damn, there's always exceptions, but there are some trends, you know...
  23. Or... Buyer could just put in an offer for 10M and wait for the next seller. This is why I cannot, and will not ever view item flipping as stealing. No one is forcing anyone to be impatient with the GE. That's my whole point right there. The buyer could either a: wait for another seller that's selling lower or b: buy higher because he can't get it lower. This is all assuming the item is hard to get in the first place and would take hours to get at the lower price btw. The patience is needed partly because of the flippers who are taking away the offers at lower prices.
