  1. That's just via the tax, which is 10% of re-traded bonds' value. The actual amount of GP 'bought' via bonds is far higher as the tax is only on second trades, meaning people who bought bonds for the sole purpose to sell is higher because they're not taxed. A little math: 800 years = 292,000 days / 14 days = 20,857 3,000,000 runecoins / 160 = 18,750 No mention of SOF or Runefest claim numbers = 39,607 bonds used (+SOF +RF) thus far. Quite a lot more than I expected.
  2. It was posted on the homepage a day in advance. So unless a JMod can predict the future, chances are it wasn't spilled coffee ;) My guess is hardware since they usually do software alongside normal updates, no?
  3. I am aware that not all people banned for goldfarming are guilty so I always point those people in the right direction to get in contact with Jagex and hopefully sort it out. I just find it funny that I have the exact same conversation with every person who comes in the FC with this issue.
  4. It opens more of a market for gold famers. I agree, but as for the price. I doubt it will tripple, maybe just bellow double and level off at 10m. At current prices I could get 60-70m for 10 bonds. Or I could us that amount of money getting 180m from gold famers. Either way. They gold farmers got a triple advantage. This could also be the first step before they make a big push against gold farmers like they've been doing against bots. I also think sales of the bonds will start to go down after a few weeks but demand for them in-game probably won't, which will result in the gp cost going up. Jagex has most definitely started a push against goldfarming. I'm ranked in a JMod FC and I have noticed a very significant increase in players entering to ask me why they were banned for goldfarming (they always claim innocence). It has gone from maybe 1 per week to no more than two hours between people. The only other time something like this has happened was right around the time botwatch started being rolled out everywhere.
  5. BoL is still active, so pretty safe to assume it will end at the next server reset.
  6. Now after divination highscores are not right so it will proably start when the highscores are right again It's top 15 exp not overall anyways... and it will never be "right" if Elias doesn't come back and get 99 lol. Zezima isn't number one. FTFY Truth is that the top 15 changes over time as people stop playing / competing. Saying the top 15 isn't "right" without a historic member of the top 15 is just silly.
  7. Wasn't it 5% total, from mostly fringe activities such as experimental projects and Transformers? Hardly worth the term "countless" which is indented to invoke 'more than is worth counting' in the minds of people.
  8. Just to clarify, MMG took over for Geoff Iddison and Constant Tedder before that. Near the time he left Andrew was the principle architect, on the board of governors, and majority share holder (with his brothers) but not CEO. He still essentially ran the show, but Andrew's role was more or less the role that IVP now fills with the addition of some of Mod Mark's duties. And since Jagex is no longer in the hands of a person, and rather a venture capital firm, capitalist ethics apply rather than personal ethics.
  9. Oh yeah. Forgot about that.
  10. In addition, over 1000 have been gifted, which requires paying the tax. So that lowers the number of resold to 4800.
  11. This isn't aimed at bulk buyers and sellers but those looking to buy and sell small amounts. I've been running under the assumption that the colour map they showed is based on GP volumes. If that's correct then it's clear that the vast majority of RWTers do smaller amounts. If I'm looking to sell 50m and I know I want to play for a while longer, it makes sense for me to use bonds rather than selling to a gold reseller for $10.
  12. These are venture capitalists. Dishonest is what they do.
  13. I just auto bought one for 7.4M.
  14. I'm really fascinated with this picture. I would love to know what the different colours mean. I assume the colours indicate trade volumes, with red being massive amounts of GP and blue being only a couple M? Does anyone else have a different take?
  15. Isn't staking more or less a net zero sum activity? Other than glitchers I always assumed no one did long term goldfarming via staking and those stakers selling large amounts of gp were more or less cashing out and quitting.
  16. Because people want spins NOW not at the end of their membership over the course of 14 days. If there is a promo on or they want a specific item set they want spins to try for it right here right now, not using 14 days of daily spins at some point in the future that could be months from now. I suppose you're right. Never really occurred to me that people would want a SoF item and only buy 8 spins considering the rarity of most promos.
  17. 8 spins or 14 days of membership is really silly considering 14 days of membership includes 14 extra spins. That's always baffled me how Jagex could offer me 35 days of membership or 30 days + 5 spins for a $10 card. It's the same number of spins but without 5 days of membership! I do think this will work in the long term. Natural supply and demand will push the price of goldfarmer and Jagex RWT closer in price, and any price difference will be covered by reduced risk of being banned for RWT, which Jagex seems very good at detecting now.
  18. No one is saying that people didn't leave because of EOC or NIS. What I'm saying is that the primary reason for the stark decline in online numbers (the one 'apocalyptic' piece of evidence people like to cite) is bot related. EOC quitters is secondary, or even tertiary (behind natural rate of decline). As someone who is very active in the fight against bots, I can tell you that the number of bots today, at least in F2P, is near that of the weeks following the bot nuke. And since it's happening in front of my own eyes, "it's so obviously true." Looking at the graph figures, we have a start of ~625,000 members at the time of the bot nuke. Today we have ~500,000 members. That's a decline of 125,000 members, or 20% over 22 months. Quite significant, yes, but hardly the apocalyptic picture people paint comparing online figures of the past's 300k vs today's 50k.
  19. I don't think RSC ever had near as many people as that. The max I remember ever seeing was 300k in 2006 but most of the time it was just a bit over 200k. From my own personal numbers, somewhere around 1/2 to 2/3 of F2P accounts online at any given time in 2006 were bots. Lest we forget this:
  20. Dang, that's a lot of kills. I certainly hope people are using bonecrushers!
  21. Thanks for all that info, CookMePlox. There are 2 graphs on that thread, one of players with 99 attack, and total number of players on the hiscores. The first graph isn't too useful for a large scale comparison but the second one is quite useful for this discussion (posted below for ease of access). I'll go through and add a few key points, but it's pretty clear where particular updates took place. EDIT: Here is the graph with a few markers of important updates included. Smaller updates indicated by letters to interfere less with the graph itself. It's important to note that Jagex, more often than not, updates Botwatch in secret so it's difficult to tell exactly how many of the smaller declines are based on Botwatch updates. In addition, it takes time for peoples' memberships to lapse and for them to be removed from the HS after quitting. Therefore points indicated are rough estimates of the 'cause' of certain declines based on updates at or just before the decline. Line 1 - Green - Bot nuke Line 2 - Red - Hiscores become P2P only and graph starts Line 3 - Yellow - 14 day trial memberships begin Line 4 - Purple - EOC is released to the live game Line 5 - Blue - OSRS is released Line 6 - Yellow - 14 day trial memberships end Line 7 - Maroon - RS3 goes live Point A - Buyable spins Point B - Botwatch improvements Point C - SGS opens. 200M accounts reached (critics accused Jagex of holding off on anti-bot updates until after 200M for the sake of inflating numbers. This is completely unconfirmed rumours) Point D - Can't find much around this time that would explain the drop. Perhaps hidden bot ban? Also decent amounts of SGS updates. @ Quyneax below: I can't say for P2P, but I've noticed a massive decline (almost 100%) of resource bots since around that time in F2P. Whether that's goldfarmers moving to OSRS for a new market, or if there was significant Botwatch improvements around that time, my money is on goldfarmers making up the bulk of the drop. I find it hard to belive there would be ~1M skillers in RS, much less all move over to OSRS at the same time.
  22. Or it's one month after the release. Exactly. If Jagex really was all about selling spins for Div, they would have opened the skill up to lamp use weeks ago. But they waited exactly one full month which is quite a reasonable timeframe IMO.
  23. If you go through the "tell me what's going on", it includes one chatbox at the end saying essentially that he's broke and can't afford to help anymore.
