  1. Then I'm officially more stumped than before.
  2. I agree with you on subjectivity until you say that advice cannot be given on fun due to its subjectivity. It is harder to give advice concerning fun, but not impossible. Advice may be the wrong word, suggestion probably fits better. I see no harm in somebody suggesting a method they find fun if it has some relevance to the OP's request as it is still giving them advice. Yes those who flame efficient posts are in the wrong, but also are those who flame inefficient posts. both sides need to calm down, either ignore the others or learn how to reply with respect and subtlety. The issue is when fun suggestions are presented as efficient advice. Saying that you like your CLS because it hits really high is... okay, I guess, but when you start explaining how CLS is BETTER, that shouldn't be okay. It confuses the facts and makes it more difficult for the OP to be sure what is actually true. I agree completely. (See it's nice when people make constructive arguments from opposite ends of the discussion without resorting to flames, couldn't this carry over to H&A) At that stage they should just be ignored.

  4. Can you please show me where? Posting bad information with the knowledge it is bad is definately against the rules, but as a recent long discussion went on a report, posting a suggestion which is only bad to some, just not overly efficient isn't. How shouldn't it be looked at? And to go with that, how does me not playing come into it at all? I don't play the game but I keep an active interest in it. It isn't as if I have just never looked at any Runescape topic or discussion for a year. But even then, how does it effect anything relating to this discussion other than you're obvious dislike of me? I don't think you are understanding what I'm talking about. I agree with most of the points you just made. By all means post the things that are efficient in topics which ask for them. By all means H&A should be a place for the more knowledgeable to suggest the most efficient ways they know of. But it should also be a place where people can get a wide range of views. Being realistic, a topic isn't going to get 10 pages of spam bad replies, it may get one or two inefficient replies within the efficient ones. These aren't damaging to the thread, they just give the OP extra information to see and take in. In your thing when people chip in with the less efficient advice, it only gets ugly when those who are supposedly more "knowledgeable and experienced" call them out for their bad advice and more often than not, say something that the person finds offensive or rude. Is it too hard to just skip that information if it has no relevance to you, but may do to the OP. Some H&A threads instead of being advice for somebody seeking it turn into two people arguing over who has the better opinion. You should be helping the OP, not bickering with each other. As Mask said a few pages back and I said near the beginning, agree to disagree. It is such a subjective field that neither side can see how the other side thinks and neither side seem to be able to empathise with each other.
  5. You already have an almost identical topic here http://forum.tip.it/topic/291688-my-bank-stats-and-recent-levels/ so there is no need for both. I'm locking this as the other was made first, but if you wish for this one to stay open with the other locked, PM me.
  6. Annoyingly googling cowboy seahorses turns up nothing so I'm stumped. Am i right about it being on the DS though?
  7. No, it isn't Trolling isn't posting your opinion, even if it is wrong or not incredibly helpful. You are welcome to do a google search yourself to find as many definitions as you want. Unless the person is posting the information with the knowledge it won't help and to incite negative reactions, they are not trolling. It's the same with Cursed_body's killing cows thing. If a person posts that thinking it is a good way (even though it isn't they may think it is) it isn't trolling. Now if they knew it was a bad way but still posted it, then it would be trolling.
  8. So, people being able to give and receive a wide range of advice catering to different people is a bad thing? Or do you mean that a moderator is not allowed to have a personal opinion? Edit: Because fun is subjective, and only the original poster knows what he finds fun, so there is no use for other people share their OPINIONS. Help and advice should be an objective place. The only tips needed are how to do something efficiently. Or should I just go post "Kill cows and sell their meat on the GE, it's very fun!" on every thread asking how to make money? But what if the OP doesn't know of a certain thing which somebody is suggesting? Why suggest anything at all if only the OP knows what they want to do?
  9. I did ask some other staff if they wanted to create one but nobody replied at the time. I'd be fine creating one with some other users as long as people remembered that actions inside it are not the responsibility of staff.
  10. First off, Trolling is NOT posting wrong information/bad ideas. Please can people stop labelling that as trolling. Trolling is more in line with flamebaiting, posting something wrong with the intention of it having a negative impact. I don't get where help & advice transitioned into help with efficiency. Posting in H&A isn't asking for the most efficient methods unless they are asked for in some way. Best way, better, tip on doing, help and other terms are all subjective. When discussing a topic, efficiency and fun have to be considered. If somebody suggests a method of doing something which they find fun, why on earth shouldn't they suggest it? There could be a chance the other person would find it fun. A topic creator deserves a wide range of advice, not just advice which is efficient. By all means post them your idea of the most efficient way, it may help them, but it also may not as they may find it boring.
  11. I actually just had this exact same argument almost but the other way around with another few moderators. It occurs both ways. Sometimes those who play in a way they find fun, but isn't efficient will be insulted by those who think efficient is the way to go, and sometimes those who play more efficiently and make better use of their time in respect to exp will be insulted for not playing the game for fun. It works both ways, and neither crowd is right or wrong. Fun in any game is subjective. What often happens (especially in H&A) is that somebody will ask for something in general such as 'money making tips'. Somebody who plays in a more laid back style will say something along the lines of "I do x because i find it fun". An efficient person will come along and say something along the lines of "I do x because it 's the most efficient way to do it". It's often called fun vs efficiency, but even this is subjective. Some find efficiency fun, some find inefficiently not fun or a time waste. I disagree on your TLDR, as I see it (and I see a lot of things) both crowds are clowns who don't seem to accept the whole subject is subjective and no crowd is better than the other. They should all just realise that everybody plays for different reasons and leave the others alone, agreeing to disagree. Edit: As said above as well, what one might find not offensive, some would. It all depends on how you say something. Instead of calling more laid back training stupid, just say it isn't as efficient and leave it at that. Maybe agree that it may be more fun for some people. The same for those saying efficiency isn't fun. Just recognise some do find it fun.
  12. DS cowboy seahorses?
  13. I'd be willing to if it hasn't been done already. I'll see if any staff are up for making one.
  14. There are an estimated 50 thousand million galaxies in the universe, with the typical galaxy containing 50 thousand million to 100 thousand million stars. It is estimated that there are 1022 stars in total in the universe
  15. Kings quest? I honestly have no idea.
  16. lol@jagex Do they run everything off 1 server or something? No wonder RS runs like poop With them using the word core I would say no they don't.
  17. Does this mean that conspiracy nuts can finally be proven crazy?
  18. Strict in that people will be warned for obvious trolling but not too strict. None of us want to drive people away, but we have had to make a compromise. Too much trolling leads to us losing members just as much as being too strict. We always take into account somebodies history. So as long as you don't have a history of bad behaviour you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It helps us stop people from having to be warned too many times before we feel we can ban them within the rules.
  19. You need to be less talented, you make us all look bad. Is it the angle or is your Corp beast that much bigger than Jad?
  20. Never mind, I must have been dreaming it being brought up before. It shouldn't be too hard to fix for one of the admins I wouldn't have thought.
  21. The image has no link for me on the Tip.it theme. I think this has been brought up before, I'll have a look.
  22. So small. Er, Aladin?
  23. It has been said numerous times, but it seems I am going to have to say this again. If you have a problem with any moderator actions taken, you are free to PM an administrator or another moderator, we all more than happy to help. There is also a thread currently dedicated to users telling us their problems with the forums and its moderation http://forum.tip.it/topic/291488-tif-is-bit-overermoderrated/ With an announcement for this as well, it should be clear that talking about moderator actions in this thread should not be done. Addmission to rule breaking will always be removed whether or not a topic is asking for it or not. This is stated very clearly in the forum rules http://forum.tip.it/topic/48092-tip-it-forum-rules/ It is up to you if you admit to rule breaking. If you don't want to, you do not have to post.
  24. May be time to call Peter in.
