This guy speaks the truth. Satisfying the customer comes first in capitalism, and the profits come when you achieve that. The way music is sold is wrong in this day and age and the industry is refusing this truth. People are moving away from listening to music as albums and singles ('particles') and are instead making playlists ('waves'). People have been 'shuffling' their music since the dawn of the mp3 player and the iPod nearly a decade ago, and you would have thought that the industry would have noticed by now. Customers should be subscribing for their music as a whole, and the money is distributed according to what they listen to. Do you mean the thing that many companies currently embrace called Spotify?
  2. As Said above, there is already a thread for this (few hours late?)
  3. Not played the last two, but I definitely agree on a majority of the others. You have a liking for Valve games I can see.
  4. The bosses in the new screenshots look pretty cool.
  5. Advisor here too. Members #1 and #2 has it's privileges heh. Won a duel with a hero 4 levels higher than me. My strategy in duels now is to say 'Smite attack heal pray' to me hero. He will usually do one of the four. In the fight earlier, he prayed three turns in a row leaving me with over 80%. Let me punish while still shouting to him.
  6. You could always help contribute to the Tip.It Dung guide on the mainpages. If you want to do a large peice, I'm sure PM'ing one of the crew could lead somewhere.
  7. It's just rubber banding. Level 24 and still no +20 gear.
  8. Never been into halloween. Was invited to a halloween night out last night but decided not to go.
  9. They really do have a hellish and end of he road style. very creepy. I'm more fascinated by the thing outside. What is it?
  10. May I ask how you managed to get Jagex to send you this? Knowing how secretive they are, I am shocked they personally sent you this on request.
  11. This is an MMO, which means other people are playing. We are human beings, which some people forget just because you cannot see the other person. It is a community driven game with other people. You cannot possibly argue that morality does not come into the equation. I am not 100% against crashing, by all means do it if you have tried the other options first, waiting to see if somebody finishes and/or hopping worlds. I am however against people going to bosses with the mindset that they will crash whoever is there straight away because they can. Wiggle room and compromise are the key factors. Going totally one side is ignorant on one side and stupid on the other.
  12. If you aren't going to bother, neither will I troacctid To the last page: It does finally seem as we are getting somewhere. To stonewalls post: I think we need a little bit of give and take between the sides. You shouldn't blindly let people walk all over you, but you should also go out with a mindset in which you will give people a little bit of wiggle room. for example, asking somebody how long they have left at a boss, maybe waiting 5 minutes for them to finish if possible? I don't think either side is totally right, compromise is needed.
  13. Making others happy should make you happy though. Being nice is a reward in itself. It is not costing you, it is gaining you. In turn, in an ideal world, it would lead to them doing the same. It is all about setting an example for others to follow. The world cannot change in an instant, it takes work to get something done. However, when things do get done, it is it's own reward. It is all about setting an example for others. To people who say morals and ethics and the like do not belong in this game, you could not be more wrong. Runescape being an MMO means that it is a community oriented game. Communities where everybody does what they want and doesn't help others will eventually implode and stagnate as nobody will want to join it. I can truly see that happening to runescape. This is all in an ideal world, but I would much rather talk of an ideal world to aim for than a crap world we currently inhabit.
  14. I was going to lock this, but then realised there is some discussion value here. However, off-topic or spammy posts will be removed. Do we actually know who these ghosts are and what they are there for?
  15. The graphics remind me a lot of the more cartoony style from AoM. The game itself, how it is described sounds more like Travian than a RTS.
  16. If you're so selfless, why do you have a problem with giving up a spot to a crasher? Practice what you preach and whatnot? I always offer to share the spot. ALWAYS. :shame: Good for you. You're setting an example for your kids by extending a token of generosity when you get in a conflict. Nothing wrong with that; in fact, it's an admirable sentiment. But please don't set your personal standards higher than anyone else expects of you and then admonish others for not adhering to the same code. Just to add to that, should be also then ignore those who set their standards lower than the average, rather than letting them run amok? At what level is our average and balance?
  17. But in a perfect world it wouldn't. Should we help towards a better society than say it sucks and be with it? If you do the second, surely you are the tool. However, this is getting rather off topic (if you want to talk about society as a whole, use the Off-topic forum)
  18. I get what you are saying Blyaunte. It is a snowball effect that has been in the works for a while now, but is rapidly gaining speed (as it would) that rune players crash others, leading to them crashing others, leading to them crashing others etc etc etc. Eventually, a thread like this pops up which shows every new player who wishes to boss hunt that you have to crash, which leads to everybody being rude and crashing. A few years of that and new members stop boss hunting due to it being too hostile, which leads the game to stagnate. That is a worst case scenario, but it does hurt to see the game go that way. In an ideal world, people would not crash if they didn't have to, they would search an adequate number of worlds before resorting to crashing. They would still crash but they would do it in a polite manner, telling the other player their reasoning. However, this will not happen as this game is frequented by too many people who have not yet learn't moral standards and who do not care that other players like playing in a polite and friendly game world.
  19. am I not allowed to use my intuition to say that it is more likely that Jagex considered gnomeball games as a possibility, than it is likely that Jagex considered pack yak altaring a possibility. (actually this is a bad example because a Jmod actually stated he did not know that pack yak altaring was possible when he accidentally nerfed it) Can we know for certain that electromagnetism exists? No, it's a principle of science. Therefore cannot be 100% proved. But we are confident it does because of our observations. Don't draw arguments based on knowing things based on 100% certainty. Challenge the confidence in my assumption that Jagex considered gnomeball games as a possibility, but not other forms of emergent gameplay. That or challenge my assertion that Jagex needlessly insulted a nontrivial part of their community by titling their article emergent gameplay, as opposed to "community support" or something else. Otherwise your response has no place in a productive discussion. My point was their article was offensive to a nontrivial part of the community. You seem to be talking about something else. so you can use an argument but I cannot? My point is that we cannot know for certain whether or not any content was introduced with what has become emergent in mind, so saying gnomeball is not emergent due to that is illogical and cannot be argued past that point. I used the example to show how it can be reversed. It should not be offensive though. It reminds me of the Johnathon Ross fiasco here in Britain where A radio show received a handful of complaints, but once the media spread word of the show, it received thousands of complaints from people who did not even listen and had never listened to the broadcast. This Blog was not meant for those who are getting offended. It would have been pointless and illogical for Jagex to include non-community emergent gameplay in an article about community emergent gameplay. It's not that they don't care, it's that they were not aiming for these people. It's the same as somebody taking offence at a website naming the 10 greatest single player games of all time and leaving Runescape out of it. The list would not be aimed at runescape so would be illogical to put it in. If somebody takes offence at the blog, it is their own fault and not Jagex's.
  20. Neither of us can know that with a reasonable degree of certainty. Are you asking me to believe that a game designer deliberately made a gnomeball reward that could be thrown around, and did not consider the possibility of player made games being formed by it? Sure it's possible, but I'd never wager my money on that sort of possibility. I can then say exactly the same about all the other forms people have mentioned previously. Can we say that the developers did not foresee people deliberately drawing in minigames? Can we know for certain about all the other examples as well? We can't. For all we know, all the emergent gameplay listed had been known by Jagex and isn't emergent at all. I agree with your first point (wow look guys, learn, somebody agreeing with somebody else), they did ignore the other forms which people are upset about. However, I don't think this article was aimed at any of them, but aimed more at those that frequent the RSOF and may engage in the forms reported on in the Blog.
  21. I agree with this. Basically in a situation where crashing is inevitable, such as a very highly used area, it is acceptable as it would happen whatsoever. However, if somebody crashes due to lazyness, it is plain rude. The internet does not mean you can be rude to whomever you like. Just because you have levels does not mean you have the right to be rude to whomever you like. Levels do not make you a better person than somebody else. Having the politeness to let somebody kill something in peace does make you a better person.
  22. But they are not really suggesting anything... Maybe they gave it the wrong name calling it a DevBlog which is confusing people? It is a community spotlight. A report on what players are currently doing. The only suggestion is maybe to join them if you like the look of it, however they do not openly say that as far as I can see. It is a straight up report. Edit: To Above: This is not a report on emergent gameplay. It is a report on the communities on the forums which use a form of emergent gameplay. As for the tangible benefits appealing to more gamers, that may be true, but it does not mean the for being reported on is not fun for some people. Why should they be ignored? If you want a straight up report or article on emergent gameplay, I would suggest you write something for the Tip.it times, but the community management team at Jagex focuses on communities based around their forums. To your separate note, it would be emergent because Jagex did not impliment it for tournaments, more for a reward to keep after the minigame that can be thrown to another. What players do with it after that is up to them.
  23. Where do you find to be the best area to PK currently? What do you find to be the best world? +1? Does it compare to any older wilderness worlds?
