  1. Big congrats to you on 1800, that's awesome.  Wish I had been there to see it. Just pm me here to let me know when to start on the firemaking. I've been saving that for when you're ready (not unhappily I might add  ).
  2. Try reading this picture guide. If that still doesn't help after you've read it, post back here on what step has you confused. Be specific so that people can help you more easily.
  3. I really have to agree with Headnazgul on this. Getting into the top 1k overall players is extremely hard, staying there is even harder. I've spent the last 100 total levels hovering around the 8500 mark because I haven't been able to consistently gain enough lvls to move ahead. With the other ones that I would consider near the top (126 combat and 200M xp) both only require you to continually trudge through at your own pace. The fact you have to compete with a lot of other very competitive people makes the top 1k a lot harder. I could take a break from getting 200M xp and not have my progress made worse due to the break. If I did that with overall rank I'd find myself much further behind by a one month break.
  4. Welcome to the Tip.It Forums. I'm glad to see you posting your questions and ideas here as it only helps to make the forum run more smoothly when we get input from the users. From the moderator side of things we don't deal very harshly with accidental double posting. I'll usually remove posts if it gets into the triple and quadruple post area caused by forum lag. I will remove true duplicate posts if someone reports them so don't hesitate to do that. It's an easy enough procedure to get rid of them. I usually don't happen to see too many posts where the author will make repeated replies to his own post. If it's something that is deliberate though they get dealt with in a manner that's appropriate to the situation. Now creating multiple topics is a little bit more annoying to me personally. This does happen during a major instance of lag but when it's someone who keeps posting the same thing so it stays at the top of the board and people can read it then that is a little bit more serious. The idea for the merging bumping posts or dupes is interesting. I'm wondering if it can be made board specific though since some boards by their nature have multiple repeat posts that shouldn't necessarily be merged. The Blogscape and Rate This boards come to mind since some of those would be highly annoying to read with 7-10 consecutive lengthy posts. The staff would have to discusse this further. Hope this answered a bit more of your questions. :
  5. Welcome to the Revamped Hidden Update Sticky A big thanks to Dork and Tripsis for their work in cleaning up and organizing the sticky. =D> We've reworked this a little so that it will work more smoothly. The previous posts have been removed and this sticky is being given a fresh start. Let's make the most of it. Post any hidden updates you find that weren't mentioned on the main site. The posts here will be cleaned out regularly and listed on the first post so that it's easier to see what everyone has found. Don't worry if someone posts something that's been mentioned before or that isn't new. Those will be cleaned out when the sticky is updated and they won't be a problem. So tell us about the new things you find and most importantly remember to have fun. When the sticky is cleaned all relevant updates will be placed in the following post. They are grouped according to the date that the sticky was cleaned not the date they were released in game. It's not practical for us to personally verify each and every one listed below but we've done our best to make sure they are correct. Note: Please only report posts in this topic that violate Jagex or Tip.It rules. Reports for old updates are not needed and will be closed.
  6. True, but I assume you've gotten 9 million from other players by selling the items you got from Miscellania? It's a money sink, but a money sink that returns your investment from other players. Same goes with Barrows and Crystal Bow. You may spend cash upkeeping the items, but I assume that by using them you end up with more cash and xp than when you started. Actually I've probably lost money doing it. I've kept 55k maples, used all my seeds and kept all my nests, only selling a little coal here and there. But yes you are right in that it could generate revenue for me but not in the way that alchemy is literally making revenue. Categorizing money sinks by ability to profit from them is somewhat hard to do. I could argue that the money wasted on construction getting to the level for making an armor stand is actually one you can profit off of with sufficient repairs. I know others have made that comparison before but in that light it is no less of a profit maker than barrows, cbows or Miscellania would be. To Dalcyte: that isn't generating gp, merely items. The gp I'm getting from others is being removed from circulation and part of that is being dumped down a black hole in the Kingdom. It's only transferring wealth, not making some where there was previously none.
  7. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Miscellania as a money sink. I know it's removed about 6M from me alone, far more than I've spent on Construction.
  8. Still puzzled by the preoccupation with whip prices. I bought mine for 5.5M I think and it dropped nearly 1M the next day. What else will whip prices do but fall? It's their job. Just enjoy the ride and watching all the people complaining about it on the way. EDIT: That has got to be one of the most elitist things I've read in a while. I thought the point of a lvl req was to limit who could use it. Ability to have vasts amount of money to buy one or not means nothing about a character or their noobiness. I suppose I really noobed up full guthans and a whip at lvl 86 when I had it and most lvl 86's didn't have that.
  9. I have a few friends who have wanted me to try on something of theirs. I dislike borrowing things longer than a simple test wearing because I don't like being responsible for anything that might accidentally happen (lag, randoms, etc). I've 'borrowed' full infinity, a blue mask and a few other things. I've also lent out a few things before, usually to let friends get xp. I lent ~6M worth of mage longs to one friend to alch and a whip to another when they were quite a bit more expensive. Frogmite's right though. Kinda sad when you can count the people you can really trust on one hand.
  10. Keep it up Swamp. :D Can't believe you're at 88 farming now.
  11. Have you tried speaking to the ogres next to the cave entrance in the city's marketplace like area? Just talk to him and select the option about wanting to go inside the cave again.
  12. If member places are to be included then NE of Yanille is the closest. I've timed nearly all of them and it's the best for banking purposes.
  13. I'm not sure about lvl 2 but I do know lvl 1 clues give them also.
  14. Whips will continue to drop. When I bought mine for 5.5M the thought of it going under 4 seemed hard to believe. It won't even need the help of a new super weapon to do it either. Just the sheer amount of whips that are being dropped and that already exist will be all thats needed to drive it steadily down. I think what many need to realize is that prices drop more on a percent basis than fixed decreases. While they steadily get cheaper and cheaper and appear to stay fixed its just that the percent they drop in price corresponds to the new lower price. I'd say the only real true bottom an item can attain is that of the high alchemy value. This isn't to say that whips will only stop at the high alch price but that they will only go down however slowly and however long it will take.
  15. I imagine that the pick will be out sometime this year, just a guess. I think that's part of the reason they made the d ax chop faster so that when they release the pick it will have a better reception than the ax did. People complained about how the ax didn't chop any better than the rune ax for a long time. Jagex is probably planning for a less troublesome dpick release. As for the plate I wouldn't get your hopes up anytime soon for that. They might release it one day but I wouldn't worry about that too much if you're going to buy a chain. The chain will continue to drop in price without any help from a dplate.
  16. If you honestly were getting what you paid for you'd be lucky to get one update a month along with the month's worth of enjoyment you're getting out of members. Five dollars (or converted to your own currency) is an extremely cheap price for what we get and the simple fact is you're getting far more than you paid for. An attitude like that is why Jagex can never please people. There will always be someone who will complain because they deserve a certain type of update because they pay. I'm really surprised Jagex even bothers anymore or even tries to make updates that we (the non-whiners at least) would even want.
  17. A really random addition for rcer's occurred to me last night. An ess to nectarines spell. Completely impractical but it would be fun for a laugh. The abyss has always annoyed me for some reason. I don't really want to go into the wild for pretty much any reason so I just avoid methods that take me there. I mine outside the wild and I do agility (before the monkey course too) outside the wild. The only reason that the abyss bothers me is not that doing it the old way is slower, it's that the same amount of runes I used to make are worth less (even with nats rising due to pure ess) than they were the old way. I know its not all about profit and I understand why Jagex put the abyss in the wild. More people in wild means more stuff to do there. I won't even get into the argument that this is real pking or not. They can do what they please and I can avoid them how I choose by not abby rcing. Likewise I don't have to like that they abby pk, in fact I can really hate that they do it. Either way I'm not going to tell them what to do. For those that say the abyss was good because it improved rc, wouldn't a similar improvement have been made by a slight increase to the extremely low xp you get per ess. People of course will complain how that somehow makes rc less than it was despite whether or not the xp was too low to start. Anyway, the important point to take out from this post is Ess to Nectarines!
  18. People always find a reason to complain about something. They could at least limit the complaining to functionality problems instead of complaining about the things chosen for updates or the rewards. Not being able to bank on Lunar Island without that seal, now that's a valid complaint since it makes no sense after that quest's story. Just complaining about not liking an update in general is lame. If you don't like it don't do it. I didn't want to do anything related to the vampire update a couple weeks back but I didn't complain. I just kept doing other stuff I had planned. Did you ever think that maybe having an update every week is the reason people are so unhappy with the quality most of the time. If Jagex could have a chance to breath and not release something new each week I'm sure we would see a marked improvement on what they create. This isn't to say I haven't liked plenty of updates. I just think they would be better all around if there weren't so many whiners that complained everytime an update wasn't useful to every single person playing RS.
  19. While we have been the starting place for a few groups I would say that a forum wide group/clan wouldn't be practical. If you want to see a really informal TIF clan then just stop by Edge bank on world 99. There's always a handful of tipiters there. That's about as close to a clan as you're likely to get around here.
  20. I can see this to a certain point but there isn't a valid case that I can think of where it would be necessary for someone to know you're a pmod or not. You can still carry out your mod business whether someone believes you are one or not. I could go for this as a "choice B." This is a bad presumption in my opinion. Just by the way pmods are selected should exclude them from automatically being a role model. While most fit that mold it can't be extended to them all. People earn respect from others by the way they behave and how they present themselves. Having people show respect solely because someone has a silver crown by their name isn't a good way for that respect to be awarded. As a final note I'm not against pmods. I know several, all of whom are quite nice (though I don't tend to stay friends with jerks for long anyway.) I just think the system could be worked out a little better than what is currently in place.
  21. 1k members. Very nice. Too bad I don't plan on being eligible. 89 cb :3>
  22. I was trying to buy some stuff on world 2 the other day and I was competing with a pmod. We both were buying for the same price but his text appearing in the screen was a definite advantage. I don't even mean that he necessarily got more sales but that he had to type a lot less than I did. The whole purpose of pmods having a silver crown or having their chat bypass the filters makes no sense to me. Does the crown showing have any practical purpose other than drawing attention and annoyances your way. By that I mean whether or not someone sees you're a mod you can report them either way. Wouldn't it make more sense to have them not be distinguished thereby making them a more effective behind the scenes tool for reporting players. If there weren't such an obvious distinction less people would strive for the "prestige" and in turn less people who didn't need to be pmods would become them.
  23. My grand plans for 80 rc have been continually put off by anything else that is remotely interesting. I have the ess for 77 or 78 I think but I've been hovering ~100k From 74 for a while now. Future project maybe. :-k
  24. Lucky. :P I took 100 casts of ice (whatever the lower multi one is) and got the giant pouch on the last cast. Don't be in too much of a hurry on the rcing. I'm rather enjoying the crafting jag I've been on. :
  25. I really can't figure out people. If you simply don't like an idea just don't post on that topic, quit trolling the boards. If you can come up with with some civil comments and have a decent discussion like Silver then by all means do so.
