Clan Recruitment Forums
To be fair I believe that rule has been in place since before the recruitment board was separated into 3 divisions. Don't quote me on that, it's just I don't recall it having been changed. I think this is a very valid thing to bring up though. If the traffic has increased enough to warrant it then it should be no problem to adjust it to say 3 times in 24 hours or maybe 5 times in 48 hours, however. Let's see what others have to say on the matter to see what the general opinion is.

Read - Proposed Board Changes for the Clan Category
I made the changes listed in the first post earlier today. Hopefully I got all the stickies related to the boards changed where needed. In response to gkitti's ideas from earlier in the topic, here are some explanations and reasons for certain things. 1. This might be a case of creative advertisement in sigs. I know some other board have larger allowances than we do but we try to keep ours as a balance between creativity and spam. Personally I don't like getting distracted by an insanely huge sig but I also like to have enough room to be a little bit creative with the space down there. The limits were altered within the recent past but will be revisited in the future again. 2. The who's online for topics has been turned off to help reduce the number of queries the database handles. It's also why you can't see who's online when you aren't logged in, unnecessary server strain. I do agree it's interesting to see who's looking at what specific thread but functionality won out over perks in this case. 3. I couldn't agree with you more on this last one. I think very careful attention to distribution of mods in terms of clans is very important. In the same vein, I believe that mods should not act on things that relate to their friends or clan. Conflicts of interest make otherwise right decisions appear wrong even when there's nothing going on. It's easier on everyone involved when you know you won't hear "well that's his clan's rival, of course he locked it." Seeing as how this topic has started some good discussion I don't see the point in closing it down now that the changes were made. I like the good constructive comments and suggestions. Please feel free to keep them coming.

Mod increase request
I can understand this from a user perspective. "Oh, this rule-breaking post has been here for a long while. There's something that needs to be changed with the moderation." I can't argue that we have a perfect system but we do have a constant process going on to get more mods. Old ones move on, new ones come in. We do see the need of mods from different areas of the world and to have as much coverage 24 hours a day as possible. I think one point that many people gloss over is that moderating (among other positions) is a very thankless job majority of the time. I don't say this to make martyrs out of the forum and website staff or to garner sympathy or admiration but it's more or less true. There are bound to be times when there's no one on as Albosky said. Personally, I've had to stop before in the middle of something very important forum-wise because something in real life far eclipsed it in importance. I sure it's inconvenient for forum users to have a post sitting there but likewise understand that we sometimes have to pull ourselves away to take care of a child, to take a business phone call, or to simply prepare dinner for the family. Having said all that, I think most of you agree we don't have a static staff list. We're constantly adding new people to make the staff the most efficient we can. In the time I've been here we've had at least 6 rounds of additions. Don't get me wrong though, I like hearing people's opinion on how well the forum is staffed. It helps to know when something needs to be done or looked into. I'm sure it won't be long before we have another round of mods.

I would agree with you on the weekends being more full in general, but for whatever reason 99 hasn't maxed out once in the last 24 hours. The world population has been showing a steady decline since this all started. Even when the world has been full it's only been for a ~4 hour window in the afternoon from 1-5pm EST. I think the numbers speak well enough for themselves. We're not trying to delude ourselves, just look at the trend. 24 hours 72 hours 1 week 1 month

Read - Proposed Board Changes for the Clan Category
I'm sure a lot of people cringe when they see topics like this, but I promise you we don't make them to annoy everyone. A lot of discussion has gone into these proposed changes, and many people have voiced their opinions on the extent and direction of the alterations, so don't think these are random and not well thought out. The changes affect mainly the Clan Recruitment board and also include the (re)addition of a War/Run-in board. Here's a short outline of how it would be. CTET Board Clan Recruitment: Clan Recruiting Sub, Looking for a Clan sub Clan Discussion: Clan Archives Sub War/Run-In Board The clan recruitment board would be reduced to two sub-sections: one for recruiting members and one for people looking for clans, regardless of the type of group/community people are recruiting for. The War/Run-In Board existed previously but was removed when the several other boards were removed. In an effort to correct that mistake, several people have brought up having it recreated. The point of these, like any changes, is to increase the usability of the boards and also to provide things based on need. This is part of a process to revitalize the clan boards here and is not meant to be a change unto itself. I'm sure there are concerns and comments about the changes proposed here, so please voice them. Just remember, no change for growth is a perfect fit from beginning to end. If something changes over time, we can augment the proposed setup to accommodate it.

Quick Reply Box
This happens to be on the blacklist for suggestions so unfortunately I have to lock it. I believe part of the logic for not having it is because it would make it that much easier for users to post without thinking since the box is right there.

Just so everyone is aware, no poll will be placed here or anywhere until next week's update at the earliest.

Bear in mind I say the following as a user with no official weight to it The world would stay the same because people always PC? Um, it just changed this week so activity is independent of world usage. Jagex updating it would seem to be indicative of people changing worlds which is why waiting till an update or two has passed before changing would be smart... but it doesn't matter because I'm not meeting arguments based on logic. Do what you like. Commenting further will just make for more circular arguments that are hard to rebut.

,,
Really? /sarcasm Yes I know. Not to impugn Jagex's commitment to their updates, but as you've no doubt seen they have a history of waffling when an update causes a huge negative reaction. They did it regarding Swiftswitch and changed the rules several times in a short period. The prudent thing to do would be to hold off entirely until it's certain they won't be altering things yet again which could make people change their minds. Why officially uproot if the problem fixes itself in 2 weeks.

My point was the logic behind it. The whole topic seems to be jumping the gun and setting it up that it needs to be changed before anyone can even determine it one way or the other. And if we were going to change why wouldn't you just use another server in the same location? American servers (which is where this one is located) are usually grouped in 2's and 3's. Just shift it over a number or two.

Don't you think something like this would benefit from at least a week's wait (or more)? It's been what, 2 days? :?

Many Disappearing Threads - ALL USERS READ
We are also experiencing some problems with certain usergroups in addition to the threads disappearing so some users may not be able to access certain boards they normally can. We are working to fix this problem as well so don't worry is you notice any private boards missing in the meanwhile.

Not a topic (which is what his modification covered) but I see your point.

Albosky put that feature in a few months back I believe. :

Clan Recruitment Forum
Sorry but if anything the number of subforums for the recruitment boards would be reduced.

The "Clothes-That-Match-Skill-Capes" Thread (TONS OF PICS)
Here's mine for firemaking with and without the hood. [hide=Firemaking] [/hide] Here's crafting. I prefer the blue naval more but that's most likely because of how annoying it was to get. The other robes are cream colored gnome robes with matching boots. [hide=Crafting] [/hide] And since I saw a lot of people mentioning monk robes with the crafting cape I thought I'd show you what it actually looks like together. :-X

first whip lure
As the person above me said, luring people into the wild is what the luring rule covers ie. item scamming. The person who died seemed to be in the wild of their own accord based on what they were carrying.

New Clan Moderator
It gives me great pleasure to introduce das as our newest Clan Moderator. He's someone I'm sure many of our old users will remember and we're very glad to have him as part of the Moderator Team. Hopefully this will be the first of many positive changes to the Clan boards. Congratulations das and welcome aboard!

Ads in posts? UPDATE: Ad system reverted back to original
I'm not involved with the ads and what gets put in place so this is coming from me as a user. The green text is a minor annoyance but I'm acclimating to it after a day or two. It's honestly no more annoying than the National Lampoon's ad that I constantly saw before. At least the banner ads now don't feature RS gold selling, which was the main motivating factor in changing the ads.

Changes to the Forum Censor
Along with the other forum changes currently in progress, we have decided to do a review of our forum censor and ultimately have revised it. We have left racist words and slurs on the list but have removed the vast majority of acronyms, mild language, and proper medical words from it. Please remember that just because a word isn't censored doesn't mean you can use it freely and on all occasions. For example, correct vocabulary for the body has its place in discussions about health, not as rude comments to fellow users. Our goal is to look at improper language on an individual basis and not to set rules for everyone based on one incident. We will be giving extra attention to make sure that users are behaving accordingly and also that we are not being overbearing in how we deal with people who use previously censored language. The main thing we would like to stress is not to abuse this new freedom. If the newly reduced censor becomes heavily abused we will unfortunately have to look into adding things back. We want the forum to be a friendly and fun environment for all. We don't want users to feel suffocated by rules. Please keep all this in mind when you compose your messages.

OFFICIAL: Upcoming Tip.it Forum Changes
Not to be mean since my comment left me open for that, but one like yours pretty much shoots you in the foot. It's a good argument why not to allow editing, not a good argument for allowing deletion. As I said, it won't happen because the posts get moved someplace not deleted even by us.
