  1. The Administrative Team would like to welcome swampjedi aboard as the Moderator of the recently formed Debate Club. We look forward to working with you and know that your dedication will make this new forum a great success!
  2. Don't you think that if we were solely concerned about our number of users as opposed to safety and self-consistency that we would just allow SS since it would make a lot less work on us and make a lot less users complain? I honestly don't see how you could think we're doing it to keep users from viewing another site. Lightning already said what's happening currently and I doubt you'll be changing that anytime before the Admins finish discussing this. As for Cruiser, I have never known him to say anything just to placate the Admins and he gives the opinions he actually holds.
  3. Moving to Clues & Randoms.
  4. Gold trimmed black armor doesn't look so bad with it. :-w
  5. To help put it more in perspective we have about 10 people who need to weigh in on this decision. Trying to coordinate that many people around work, family and other RL responsibilities takes just a little bit of time especially when we're having a discussion and waiting for someone's reply to another's post. We should hopefully be coming to a decision soon.
  6. All price checks go in this topic in the Market Board.
  7. Please don't bump threads. It's not really needed unless it's on the market boards and that is only allowed once per day at the most and when it's on the second page.
  8. I'd report it as "other" and say that the picture is too large and if you wish also refer to the rule. I've removed img tags on pictures before (with a warning to crop it) so it has been done at least once :P but I usually reserved it for those that distort the page beyond its standard dimensions.
  9. Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head there. My suggestion is for people to just report the post and state the reasoning. In my experience I find this is really only be a problem in the high traffic picture based boards (Rate This, Blogscape, Gallery etc.) I really hate horizontal scrollling so I often just remove the image tags when it distorts the page.
  10. Similar sigs (by atheists or otherwise) are already removed and have been removed for a long time. I've removed more than a few "I don't believe in Christ. If you don't either put this in your sig." or something similar, we don't just pick on Christian sigs. OT is allowed religious discussions and they are prohibited in all other places on the forum. Since signatures have a way of roaming to every board you post on it is not acceptable to have the references in your sig. We can't of course catch every sig right when it's changed so we have to depend on the staff and users to point out these sigs and they will be removed. Just report the post of the person who has an inappropriate sig and specify that in the comments part and it will be dealt with.
  11. errdoth: You obviously were not satisfied with my response but I, at least, did you the courtesy of not publicly posted your pm to me concerning the topic and even better I'm not removing my message from your post since it's nothing serious, just a matter of etiquette. In the future I would appreciate it if you would continue the conversation in pm if you are not happy with the response you received.
  12. Ban lifted yesterday, forgot to mention here. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=603473 I hope it provides an increase of interesting topics for everyone to enjoy/debate/report/etc...... :P
  13. Fair enough, in the interest of being consistent that topic in OT will be locked until it can be discussed amongst the Admin Team and a decision is reached.
  14. Moving to H&A. Please make sure you read the Forum Rules and post all future questions in Help & Advice.
  15. Like Gugge and Jake I'm also trying to fill up my house with TT rewards that I get myself. I got really bored with crafting and decided I should be doing something I enjoy more. I think the Lvl 1's from HAMs are a great way to go. I do get the occasional "33 bodies and 123 gp" but I've also gotten about 12 god pages, trimmed and gold range items, trimmed and gold mage robes, gold black armor, and recently a guthix robe piece. I've done at least 80 or more in the past few days and couldn't have had more fun doing them. I think on average there are few who actively camp out somewhere to get clues since there are others ways to make "fast money", but to each their own.
  16. There is a slight difference in this case. The polls were removed with the idea of it being pretty much permanent while the OT religious topic ban was meant to be a short term thing. Thanks for bringing this up insane. There should be an answer regarding this shortly.
  17. I'm not quite sure why a few people have said that granite is comparable to iron or just slightly better. I did some tests when I was mining it and it's about 1.23 times better xp per hour than iron with concentrated mining. It's not the most staggering change but it's at least a notable improvement. I'll continue to use the gold and iron mines either way.
  18. I see a lot of posts bascially saying that people are whining because something got harder. For me personally I used granite for half of lvl 84 so I could hit lvl 85 and be able to start construction otherwise I don't touch most "fast and pointless" methods. I think complaining about Jagex being haphazard and inconsistent with their fixes is completely fair though. They have a horrible pattern for miraculously discovering a genie then trying to cram it back into its bottle. If they didn't want to continually fix these power leveling scenarios then I would think they could have a little foresight about the applications of these updates and adjust them accordingly. It would save everyone a lot of grief if these could be worked out within a reasonable amount of time after the suposed bug was released or at least make mention of it if the fix isn't feasible to implement quickly. Even with the granite mines as it was it was still a poor manner of training as far as skills go. On top of being isolated and worthless to bank you got the added bonus of ~50k xp per hour at top speed. Let them make training strength with monsters that have no drops, always hit you, are impossible to Guthan and are far from a bank as the best option and see how many would complain. They're simply not consistent which is why so many are mad about this. Oh, and the bandit camp not being affected somewhat proves my point. I don't see how standing in the sun outside a tent is any different than being in armor in a tent or standing in a mine for that matter. They only left it that way so people would not complain about ruining the afking that goes on at the bandits.
  19. I really can not fathom how it takes them this long to call something a mistake then fix it. I like many others assumed that the granite mine was deliberately made to be exempt from the desert heat since there are other places where this is true. There was no purpose to the mine after the quest other than power leveling or they should not have made it a fairly consistent one hit rock with the good xp it gives for a quest based item. The main thing here is the time between release and fixing it. This is the same reason that the change to Verac hitting through prayer annoyed me. It's not because I ever barrow but because you should fix "obvious bugs" sooner than 9+ months later and especially when the "fix" makes sense such as the desert heat being everywhere.
  20. As I see it the OT board itself is a debate forum. I think it would draw too much away from the main board and as I've seen people post there is already a shortage of truly good topics to sink their teeth into. The rs based debate board was brought about by circumstances not really found in OT. The main purpose of the Rants forum is to complain about something in a hit and run style and this left a huge gap between these frankly spammy posts and the in-depth debates. I don't think OT is overrun with the sheer volume of really spammy two line complaints that were continually flooding Rants. Generally the OT board has far fewer of these posts that require locking than did the Rants board in the past.
  21. I have a feeling the traffic for it would not be enough to sustain it and it would be less used than M&M as insane said.
  22. It would be kind of hard to attempt to ban the word itself. There are many ways to get around it and it's not something that has any inherently bad connotations, it's just annoyingly used. The spam rule is broad enough that we don't need to include every possible annoying posting style and can let the users report truly spammy posts for what they are. I used to try to add comments to +1 posts to curtail it but it's almost impossible to stop them. Personally I just skip over these filler posts when reading. If the person can't be bothered to take 1 minute to draft up a reply that has something useful to say or ask then I won't waste 5 seconds of my life giving it second thought. I just make a mental note of who these pointless posters are and generally ignore their posts when possible. It makes my forum reading more enjoyable and doesn't give them the attention that seems to be wanted by posted utter spam just to have it there.
  23. Sorry guys but not going to happen. Instant bans aren't something to thrown about for something like that. Just report them as you would any other spammy post and go about your business. I agree it makes for a pointless post but it's not enough to merit an instant banning unless it's an insane amount of spam by one person.
  24. Haha I can't believe you still have all those cats. Grats on the lvls and glad to see you got the pics set now.
