  1. Arrows give more exp than knives per projectile. It just seems useless at pc. Just melee there and use the points on range. Or even better, take your arrows and do slayer and train ranged the proper way!
  2. I agree with you. It's ridiculous that at lvl 43 prayer you cannot be harmed by for example lvl 170 black demons. The prayer should prevent some damage, but not all. In pvp it's much better. Not all boss monsters use mutliple attack styles. And even of the couple that do, it is too easy to just wear protective stuff for one attack style and pray to the other. The hardest quest bosses are still the ones where prayers cannot be used. Doesn't that say enough? But i cannot imagine the game without them. The mere thought of Jad without prayers that fully protect you.... :ohnoes: my 2 cents :)
  3. Certainly keep the dogs. Like many before me said, how can you have a problem with the dogs while you kill thousands of other creatures and humans? It's a game and it's not sad that the dogs are there. You don't seem to have problems with muggers and bums walking around varrock. I don't hear you about introducing police and social welfare to help them, so why do you care about the dogs? BTW, wasn't there another thread about this topic?
  4. You might not believe it, but that first character has a real good chance. My stats are pretty comparable to both so i can know. Character 1, with using some nice ranged protection stuff and potting, praying and dds specs can cause some pretty good damage. Things get only worse when combat lvls increase.
  5. There is no balance at all. The fact that melee uses more stats than both magic and ranged only makes things worse. In pvp combat, the maximum performance for each class should be equal. This means that effort or money ought to be unimportant. I don't mind putting in extra effort or spending more money if that would mean that i would be able to upgrade my ranged attacks. But as it is, those options are not available. My 70 attack and strength deal more damage than my 90 ranged. How is that fair? Melee uses cheap equipment (yes, whip is cheap, compare to crystal bow) and is faster and easier to train. I have a bit over 5M ranged exp and only 1.5m melee exp. Effort wise, my ranged should cause 4 times more damage than my melee. Ofcourse it doesn't. Also, the option to attack from a distance is not that much an advantage. If anything is easy in this game, it is to close a distance between you and your opponent, unless magic is used. Now, how to fix this? Rangers don't need better armour with even more ranged bonus, the hitting part is not the problem. Rangers also already hit fast enough, we don't need faster equipment. I'm thinking about some new bows. Bows that are worth something and that get a +10% DAMAGE bonus. Now that would be nice.
  6. That's very hypocritical. You have issues with shooing away dogs, but you think that killing human npc's or other players is ok? please...
  7. It looks nice. the guards are weird though... Seems like npc's are all getting a look of their own and are no longer generated from the same character set as players.
  8. Isn't positive thinking a great thing ;). Just keep it real...
  9. A new skill is coming, not archeology or summoning, but patience. ;)
  10. I disagree with this. Generally, rangers without def have higher HP than rangers with def, that is when combat lvls are equal. A skill increase of 10 lvls needs you to more than double your exp in that skill. A ranger without def has a relative very high ranged lvl, so has lots of ranged exp. Usually that ranger will also have lots of HP exp, thus a very high HP lvl. Both types depend on luck and strategy. Just both use a different one. Use whatever suits you best. You have lost me here, what are you trying to say? How do you think about even higher def lvls? My character has 90 ranged, 82 HP, 52 prayer and 70 def @ 88 combat. I'm seriously thinking about increasing that def lvl to 80. Using super def and ranged pots, eagle eye and steel skin prayers should really boost my lvls. And full black dragonhide and torags helm gives a nice def bonus. I'm doubting that 40 def is sufficient, a tank is about def.
  11. Good topic, i can't wait to see the finished guide!
  12. Whatever you do, don't do PC :P
  13. Still hobgoblin mine is really great. Just bring rune pick, glory and black dragon hide top and legs. With the protect praqyer you won't lose your stuff if attacked. You will only lose your ores. The black dragon hide gives you some time to escape from pk-ers. Use the canoe to get to the mine and glory back to edgeville. Put your auto retaliate on off. WHen mining hobgoblins will attack you. Since it is a single combat area, pkers can't attack you because a hobgolbin is doing that. Really, try it once, see if you like it. Remember, it's very hard to loose anything there.
  14. Don't use a crystal bow. Not only is it quite expensive, but you can only have 2500 shots per bow. You will waste too much time recharging the crystal bow(s). I prefer to use knives, faster exp than arrows and you'll still hit plenty due to to low def of dusties.
  15. barrow brothers
  16. Crumble Undead is much faster at Varrok Sewers, there is a nice boundary between the skele's and you. \ I've done them at both, its way better at the ditch. Its a huuuge safespot and way more entertaining. Stand by egdeville, and cast it on the skeletons on the other side. Do you get double exp for it because the skellies are in wildy?
  17. Members can only do that during a full moon...
  18. illl just say it... lol these calculations are unbeleiveably off. according to the tip.it calc you can have: 40 defence and 60 ranged(at 54 combat) or 1 defence and 99 ranged(at 54 combat) now lets redo those max hits: 10-10-10-10-10 18-0-18-18-9 the level 99 ranger will probably hit more than this and the 40 def reanger will probably hit less but the results still are: 40 def ranger:50 99 range ranger:63 def "pure" gets owned because he has to eat and 99 range pure keeps hitting lol, lvl 99 ranged @ 54 combat? that corresponds to having only 25 HP. Not only very hard to train, but you'll die very fast, very easily! to get into the nice numbers example: P1: 60 ranged, 40 def, 60 HP (54 combat) P2: 1 def, 99 ranged, 25 HP (lvl 54 combat right) P1: 10 - 10- 10 P2: 18 - 0 - 18...dead P2 doesn't even stand a chance...
  19. is there a reason to create german servers than? More than dutch spoken worlds. Many dutch people play this game already and apparently the english language is not such a big barrier. I hardly ever see german people ingame. The german spoken servers could very well attract a big new audience for this game. Besides, the german language offers a much larger potential market than the dutch language.
  20. The new worlds are nice. No reason at all to create dutch spoken servers, most dutch speak english anyway. And if you don't, what a great way of learning it!
  21. i thought it should be higher, lvl 100 i thought was too low even, but... 100 would be fine. honestly what i was thinking was 110+ but, sadly alot of people would complain. I don't have any problems with combat req., but 110+ is too much. My characters is based on def, ranged and magic. If i max out all my stats apart from strength and attack, my combat will be lvl 109. That is the max combat lvl for a magic or ranged based character. Runescape is a RPG, a role-playing-game. Don't force me to do melee, when i really don't like it.
  22. I don't think they can start the quest and they certainly can't reach the boss ;)
  23. With my pretty low melee stats i did it! Supersetting, full rune, melee and invent full with sharks was the way to go. Strategic wise, the most interesting fight in a long time, well done Jagex. It is kinda troublesome that my 66 att and 67 str caused much more damage than my 90 ranged... If it's true, it sounds like a pretty bad glitch..
  24. I haven't done it myself, but sara brews would be a good idea. good point. i should have some laying around
  25. I just tried to fight and got owned by that 300+ thing two times (didn't die luckily :)). The second time i got cyrils (sp?) courage bar full, mainly by killing doubts. But he still didn't start to fight and his bar reduced to zero. I tried ranging the big thing, using crystal bow and potting to lvl100 ranged. I guess i must have damaged him at least something, but it was damaging me way more. I know i'm only 88 combat and possibly that lvl70 def is too low, but has anyone any tips for defeating it?
