  1. What do you mean it stopped working? More detail? Can you not get onto the site or does the game not load? There's nothing anyone can do here to help unless you give more information.
  2. Graphics card will be a big limiting factor. It sounds like you got one which has an intel integrated chipset which is very low powered. It'll struggle if you have all settings on high and when you enter large crowds.
  3. I think there's something wrong with your paint. I always use paint for screenshots and most of the time I save to .png format, and the usual size I get out of them is much less than 1MB. +1. I can easily take 1280 x 1024 screenshots and get about a 500kb filesize. Even on my slow internet (20kb/s upload) it doesn't take very long to upload to tinypic/imageshack at all.
  4. Hugh Jass
  5. I'm guessing OP is only using paint and wanted a quick solution, so png. I'm doubtful he wants to load up GIMP each time he takes a screenshot, it's too much effort.
  6. Read the following today: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/30 ... discovery/ Most AVs should send out updates in the next day or so. I highly suggest you check for them.
  7. I told you there was hope yet \ http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/30 ... discovery/ Most AVs should send out updates in the next day or so. I highly suggest you check for them.
  8. .gif would probably give the smallest filesize, though the quality will be poor. In terms of tradeoff between filesize and quality, .png is the way to go. Quality wise it's almost identical to a bitmap (.bmp), but takes up a lot less space.
  9. Sick first round on steel as Engi at a clan event :D [hide=1280 x 1024][/hide] I had my sentry opposite the dropdown entrance from A - B, positioned so that it would also get people trying to through the tunnel at the side too. Worked wonders once the other team capped A and all the other engis built their sentries at B.
  10. Kick a football (soccer ball to you Americans) against a wall. I find that helps quite a lot.
  11. Little kids with microphones, most usually on Garry's Mod. I had this one American kid who kept insisting that he was 'pro' with wire mod (It's a toolset that allows you to build advanced contraptions) and that he had to show me how
  12. Tbh Ravenholm in Half Life 2 still gives me the heebie jeebies, yet I don't find anything in Left 4 Dead scary. Not even witches :?
  13. My point exactly. It's included in the free version of AVIRA and checks for them when you do a system scan.
  14. Newer versions are better but you could still do a lot better. The main problem is it sucks up computer resources, there are many more lightweight AVs that offer comparable detection without being such a hog. Detection wise it's ok, but it does miss things. One of things that Norton has always accelled at though is it's speed. Afaik, it's one of the fastest AVs available in terms of scan speeds and such. Also, bear in mind it's a big name product which costs money. Since there are a few good free AVs out there, why bother paying?
  15. I tried that one, no difference unfortunately. I'm not hugely bothered anyway, I don't have anything that requires SP3 and I'm pretty sure I can live without until I get my new computer in the summer :)
  16. Rofl. I so want to see that episode now :D Shame they all get released here about a month late or so :(
  17. Ahh, these annoy me. It's like that newish mix of "You spin me right round like a record" I keep hearing, it just takes a classic song and ruins it.
  18. Ah, I see. You confused me a bit there :P I'm a tad concerned because I can't install SP3 (I've tried it a couple of times and thanks to Windows Genuine Disadvantage it breaks and I have to load up a backup). Anyway, I did some research and there are patches for SP2 on the MS website that prevent it from getting in. Various ways. The most common ways are on USB memory sticks (To fix it you have to turn the autoplay feature off) and if your computer is networked. Apparently new infections are levelling off though.
  19. Avira has for a while been constantly higher than AVG on www.av-comparatives.org, an independent site which compares multiple AV software. Also, from personal experience, I found that Avira has picked up a lot of stuff that AVG hasn't and is generally faster for scans. Also I remember AVG didn't have rootkit protection, but they've probably added that in to the newer version.
  20. "Pills here." Anyway, my favourite would probably be the airboat section out of Half Life 2. So awesome \
  21. I don't know a single person at school who doesn't know the mysterious ticking noise song...
  22. Then why did you say: Surely it doesn't take 1000 people just to fix the code and ship it in the regular update for sp2? If MS cared ,which they do (they have a $250,000 reward on the creator of this), they'd ship it regardless of what service pack you have.
  23. A second one in $500 - $750 range. Slightly better than the one you listed, at the same price as "buy it now": http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834114631 $649 AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-82(2.20GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 1280 x 800 3GB DDR2 RAM 320GB 5400rpm HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 Tbh I'd avoid buying second hand hardware off eBay. No guarantee if it's broken or not.
  24. Just RuneScape or general gaming? The specs you listed would be good, for a computer about 8 years ago or so. These look like a good buy to me: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834220488 $999 Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.40GHz) 14.1" Wide XGA, 1280 x 800 4GB DDR2 RAM 320GB 7200rpm HDD NVIDIA 9650M GT 1GB The laptop littleboy posted only has Intel Integrated graphics so would be poor for running games.
