  1. What computer is that anyway? To me it looks like you just got a normal laptop and tried playing RSHD on it, which isn't exactly hard going by today's standards.
  2. Youtube Wikipedia MSN If I'm not doing something else like playing games on the computer :P
  3. Yay for Valve's overpricing in Europe. I posted a list of free stuff on steam a while back in the steam thread, other than that I don't see the point of this really because everyone gets 'steam udpate' news after playing games which tell you about the special offers anyway.
  4. I'm kind of clueless to why this is happening, but anyway, is it possible your router has had a DMZ set up on it? I know a friend of mine had problems with his wireless a little while back and this turned out to be the problem.
  5. You said it was an issue with 3.0.6, so perhaps look for a version of 3.0.5 or switch to 3.1b3? (Some of your addons will not work if you choose this though.) All I can think of asking is, do the problems still happen when your hardwired to your router, and have you checked to make sure you have't got any malware?
  6. Right handed, and like Joe I'd say I'm more interested in hardware. I've done some programming for PICAXE chips before but I didn't find it hugely stimulating (it was just basic though). I'm doubtful if your handedness affects your ability to get to grips with technology; it may be because of the different sides of the brain though I wouldn't jump to conclusions unless it's been scientifically proven.
  7. +1. You should be able to pick up CoD4 relatively cheap now anyway, not worth the risk of buying it online and finding it doesn't work.
  8. Nothing to worry about. In simplistic terms, they're just harmless files windows creates to do it's stuff.
  9. AVG is one of the worse ones. Avira Antivir is the way to go if you want a good free one.
  10. These two might help: Norton removal tool Clare's DieNortonDie Before you ask, both are perfectly safe :)
  11. Despite it being a big name product which you'll see a lot in the shops, Norton is actually one of the worst antivirus programs out there at the moment. I'd suggest you remove this as soon as possible, I doubt it'll offer you much good protection (I'm assuming you've got protection other than this) and will probably sit there hogging up computer resources like all other Norton products. It should uninstall fine, though you may want to get the brute force removal tool off the norton website. If that fails, then I remember someone here had another tool for removing Norton.
  12. GOOD NEWS! IE8 passes acid2!

  14. 1. My first and middle name are both biblical but everyone in my family is atheist, and my dad is of Jewish origin. 2. I am a tea addict. 3. Pixar movies are awesome. 4. I watch next to no TV, only about an hour or so a week. 5. I know loads of useless information. Did you know that 4 bits make 1 nibble? (Half a byte.)
  15. Philistine Oaf Peon I like my rude archaic words.
  16. I got hit in the testicles by a cricket ball when I was 14. Made me realise how important having a box was . Also quite painful was one time in electronics; we were bored and making 'solder balls'. The idea was is that you knock them onto the floor and they solidfy into a nice pattern. I was wearing shorts at the time. Thankfully the scar on my leg isn't that big.
  17. Avira. I've recently upgrade the latest version and it's protected me from a lot of nasties that AVG completely missed. Avast is quite good to, but I prefer Avira.
  18. Really, you'd be better off with a single 280, or 2 of them in SLI. The GTX 300 series will be out later this year with Dx11 support for Windows 7, and yet more cards will come out after that making them 295 seem like a waste of money. You'll still be able to get 60fps or more on pretty much all games with either card. I found some prices on Newegg for both anyway: XFX Geforce GTX 295 1792MB - $509 BFG Tech Geforce GTX 280 1GB - $349 (CoD5 included free) MSI Geforce GTX 285 1GB - $349 (CoD5 included free)
  19. The easiest way to find out what wattage your PSU is just to open up your case and look at the sticker on the side. A GTX 295 is wasteful imo, if you want a very high end card I'd suggest a 280/285. It'll handle pretty much everything on highest specs, even Crysis. Quadros are rendering cards so will perform poorly if you try to use them for games. Since you want a Nvidia card, Geforce is what you want.
  20. Pidgin ftw. Having all the im types in one program is infinitely useful imo, I'd be lost without it : But to each his own. You got it fixed anyway.
  21. No idea, don't really care tbh. I probably won't play, if I did I'd just use my old Rs account.
  22. Economic Left/Right: -4.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.26 I think that's about right where I would consider myself.
  23. Whoa whoa whoa. No need to go tweaking the config settings, Fx 3 is fast enough already and that won't make a great deal of difference. Anyway OP, a few questions. Does this problem happen in other browsers? Its all very well saying it's all firefox's fault, but that might not be the case. Try it in another browser and see if you get the same problem. I'd also reccomend trying the following: Update to the latest version of Firefox. Update your Java. Update your graphics drivers (You may not want to play HD, but this will help in general anyway). Make sure you haven't got an addon that's conflicting with RS. Try disabling them all and reenabling them one by one, this should find the bad addon if you have one.
  24. 1) JaGex's cache folder. 2) Stores information about RuneScape and FunOrb enabling you to load them quicker when you try and play them. 3) Absolutely not. 4) I'd only reccomend deleting it if you have a problem trying to play the game, otherwise you'll have to redownload it again when you try and play which will make for longer RuneScape loading times.
  25. No no no, you could do a lot better, it depends if your PC & PSU will handle it at the moment. There are many cards that outstrip the 8600gt by a long way for a slightly higher cost, but require a lot more power (watts) to run. A 295 may be the best card, but it'd be wasteful. If you want something really high end perhaps look for a GTX 280 or 285, quite expensive though. If you want something less power hungry and cheaper, the 9600GT looks to be good buy.
