  1. It'll run HD fine on highest, though if want to play newer major release games you might want something a bit more powerful.
  2. You could, though you might have some problems. If you really want a more powerful card just get a new PSU. They aren't that expensive and something like a 500W should cost that much.
  3. 1) As has been said, not really unless you're downloading maps and such from servers. 2) Try clearing out the fans if you can, dust tends to build up on them which can cause problems if you leave it unchecked for ages. The best way to do it is with compressed air, vacuums can create static which can cause problems for components in your computer. I think earthing it gets around this problem, not 100% sure though.
  4. Personally I'd swap your CPU and graphics card for these two, you'll get better performance out of games: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6819115041 - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6814102801 - SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB You can always overclock the CPU if you want to.
  5. Make sure that chrome has been updated to the latest version, and try clearing out the jagex cache. It's a folder called .jagex_cache_32 and is found in C:\WINDOWS.
  6. I'd like to add a couple more things to the PC list ;) 1. Steam. Yes I know it's a DRM system but it works, and extremely well. Valve support is excellent it's so easy to add friends and join in games that they're playing online. 2. You can easily get a controller for a PC, if you really want one. 3. Strategy games don't work as well on consoles, imo anyway. I just think that you need the mouse and keyboard to be able to play properly, especially if you like to use all the hotkeys and such.
  7. I feel like such a nerd, I thought you were on about graphics cards when I read the title. It depends where you live, I haven't seen them here in the UK. I think the company that makes these prepaid cards might let you pay for other games with them, but I'm not 100% sure. Best bet is just to look for the RuneScape card, at least that way you'll know it will work.
  8. Respect. At least we know that their hardware has just as many bugs as their software ;)
  9. Not a moment too soon  Sure good things were done in the war, Saddam Hussein was hardly the most benevolent of leaders, but they did a great job of finding the WMDs.
  10. RuneScape client will probably make little difference since it's just a cut down version of internet explorer. Try reinstalling Java and deleting the JaGex cache (It's found in C:\WINDOWS, just delete the .jagex_cache_32 folder).
  11. Just because you have to pay money for something doesn't make it better  Zone Alarm is useful firewall and Ad-Aware is also good as anti-spyware. Tbh I don't think Windows defender is going to help a great deal.

Go to tools > options > privacy, and make sure both boxes about cookies are ticked. If that doesn't work try clearing out your private data, and trying again.
  13. It is, but it's only worth getting for the PC :P
  14. If you aren't lazy a simple Google search will tell you how to deactivate the adverts in Avira. It's much better than AVG, it scans faster (at least I found so) and it picks up more things.
  15. Depends what you mean by best. What genre are you after? FPS? If so, do you want a fast action game, or one that's about stealth? Since you've got an Xbox I'd guess Halo 3 would be an obvious choice; it really depends what you like though. Also, you don't need a gaming PC to RuneScape, not even on full HD.
  16. Ravenholm from Half Life 2 always gives me the jitters whenever I play it. Stuff like L4D doesn't bother me at all though.
  17. More info? What browser are you using? What happens to the images? Do you get a little red x or just 'image'?

Mixture of things, I'd say my favourite generes would have to be science-fiction and thrillers. I did read the CHERUB series ages ago back when there were only a few books out, but I've kind of moved on to other things. Recently I've been reading a lot of sci-fi, mainly the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov and Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke. I'm not a big fan of fantasy though, I tried reading the first wheel of time book but I couldn't really get into it :|
  19. +1. www.crucial.com is definitely worth looking at if you're unsure, prices are good too :)
  20. Any ideas? I'm going to try and see if I can make a batch file script that kills wgasetup on boot, since it loads almost instantly. It'd be nice if someone could find a more elegant solution though, thanks.
  21. You could always try Firefox portable ;) Afaik that doesn't need administrator access to install and works just as well as the real thing.

Call me odd, but Glenfidditch Whiskey is a personal favourite.
  23. Picked up a copy of Roller Coast Tycoon 2, great game :
  24. I'd try the following: Redownload and reinstall Java and your graphics drivers. Might be a faulty file somewhere. Delete the JaGex cache. You can find it in C:\WINDOWS (Or whatever drive your windows folder is on) and it's very obvious to spot; it'll be called .jagex_cache_32, or possibly .jagex_cache_64 since you've got 64-bit Vista.
  25. I don't think I really need it, and it's cocked up before so there's no guarantee it won't do it again. I don't want to be locked out of my PC. The only updates being shipped to XP now are security ones and I'm getting a new PC in the summer anyway. Afaik WGA is only used for other MS software which I already have or don't need. Tbh the problems & annonyances outweigh the somewhat limited advantages.
