    Stick Shifts

The law here in the UK is that if you learn in an automatic you can only drive an automatic (apologies if someone pointed this out before); so pretty much everywhere teaches with manuals unless you're disabled, or specifically ask to learn in an automatic. I get the impression anyway that more people drive manuals here anyway, compared to when I've been on holiday in the US and the hire cars generally seem to be automatics. Idk though, I'm used to driving a manual car and will probably continue to do so.
  2. Just started reading Dune by Frank Herbert. Classic Sci-Fi that I just haven't gotten round to reading until now  Also got Matter by Ian M Banks, I've read a few of his books before which I've liked quite a bit. If anyone's got some good Sci-Fi recommendations, I'd like to hear them. I've read a lot of the popular authors, but if anyone knows of anything that's good but not as renown I'd like to know. Thanks :ugeek:
  3. I think the current system we have with regards to the Queen is fine (ok, our parliamentary system could do with reform, but that's another story). She may just be a figurehead now, but it's traditional, and a part of the national identity. There's a lot of 'British culture' that involves the queen too. Despite all the scandals that the media keeps throwing at us, I think there's a fair amount of respect for the monarchy still. It would also be kind of odd, since they also count as "Royal family" for a lot of other commonwealth realms too (doesn't the Queen own about 90% of Canada or something like that?). Also, a fair few other European nations still have monarchys. Belgium, Spain, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Denmark all still have Royal Families as such.
  4. Assuming you're on Windows, no not really. The best thing you can do really is just to create another folder on the second drive called "Program Files" or whatever, then when you install your programs just select that folder instead of the default one. If the stuff is already on the drive, then the best you can do is to uninstall and reinstall it, if you try and copy stuff directly over from one drive to another it might not work properly.
  5. This guy speaks the truth, Valve have done well with the continuous free updates since the launch  You can play it on a fairly low end machine too which is good.
  6. Heh, I've always used cheap mice from Argos, but I've heard a lot of good things about the G5.

    E3 2010

Apparently Valve had just said (implied anyway) there's going to be a 'surprise' at E3 and that Portal 2 isn't going to be the main thing they're showing. I'm hoping there's going to be some announcement of EP3 (since it's nearly 3 years since EP2 came out), or perhaps something else? Link: http://kotaku.com/5552813/surprise-no-portal-2-party-at-e3
  8. Changing what your browser doesn't fix anything, especially if you're used to using Fx and have a lot of useful addons. Anyway, I'd try doing Tools > Clear Recent History, make sure everything is ticked and that the time range is set to 'Everything'. You'll need to log in afterwards, but it's worked for other people when they've had trouble logging in to forums. If that doesn't fix it, I'd try disabling any addons you've got and then re-enabling them one by one to see if you can find any that are causing problems.
  9. What exactly happens, does your internet just stop working completely? Some more information would be useful, like is it a wired or wireless connection? Is it just RuneScape that causes the disconnection problems or do other things do it as well, like downloading things from the internet? Have you got any other online games that you can try to see if the problem persists? Have you got any possible software (or malware) that's on your computer which is set to kick you off the internet when you start playing?
  10. Found this yesterday: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Mass-Effect-Going-Multiplayer-24890.html Hopefully this means co-op and not an FPS spinoff.
  11. Dead ringer spy ftw, 48 points in one round :D I'd wish they'd hurry up and fix the dominations bug though.
  12. Did a quick check, graphics card is the ATI 4650 right? Anyway, go and make sure your graphics drivers are up to date, you can them from the ATI website here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx It may help if you install your current ones first (don't worry, your screen will still work). Getting them straight from ATI is better to as they'll be more up to date. After you've done that, go and make sure you're using the latest version of Java: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1 Hope that helps, these two things quite often fix a lot of problems :)
  13. It's usually about 6Mbit/s, but my brother's on iPlayer at the moment. Best I can get where I live, tried asking Sky to see if the line would support a higher bandwidth, but then I'd get terrible packet loss.
  14. Bit of an odd question here. My brother managed to fill his laptop up with several 1000 pieces of malware (I suspect he's gotten something whilst looking at gentlemen's literature), so I formatted and reinstalled XP for him. All went fine with regards to the reinstall, had some troubles with the application CD provided, but I managed to get all the necessary drivers and installers off the Dell website using my own laptop. However, all the menus, text and buttons seem to be unusally large. Went to try and size things down, but for some reason it says it's normal sized, which it's clearly not. Here's what I'm on about: Not the most pressing issue, I know, but any help would be appreciated. Changing the theme between Zune and Luna (the default XP one) made no difference. OS is XP Pro SP2 (will upgrade to SP3 tomorrow most likely) on a Dell Latitude D820. Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)
  15. Huh, strange. I always found WMP would mess up the artwork and metadata more than songbird would, especially given the new managed music option which found a lot of missing info from CDs which hadn't copied over properly (again, using WMP). I also like the fact that you can sync iPods and most other MP3 players easily with it without needing the iTunes bloatware.
  16. As far as I am aware the AK-47 and Deagle were named so in Source, not sure about 1.6 though. I doubt you'd be able to change the names of weapons like you can do in TF2 because the item system is different, easier just to learn which is which.
  17. I know a bit of wire, enough to make things work using adv pod controller, and holograms as well. To make more complex stuff though it's best to learn expression 2. No idea how to do that, but I think it's sort of like coding of some sorts. If you want some good, albeit slightly old, tutorials, I'd suggest looking at orb's tutorials. He goes over a lot of things from basic 'what is and how to wire' to tracking sensors, hoverballs and stuff. Link: http://revver.com/u/orb/ I'm trying to get some adv dupe files from my old computer at the moment, I might link some of them if I can find somewhere decent to upload them. EDIT: Files can be found at: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=98840 [spoiler=Picture:] Nothing amazing, just some basic contraptions used to learn wiremod and some experiments. Controls and stuff in the readme, you'll need PHX, Wire, Fin II and possibly Buoyancy tool to use these.
  18. Afaik, it was when I posted, not sure about now though because I've not played properly for a while now. I know a lot of stuff has been broken recently, might well be worth checking facepunch to see if anyone's made an update for it.
  19. Mother of all motherboards: http://www.evga.com/articles/00537/ Hopefully though we'll have progressed from the Von Neumann model of computing before something like that becomes commonplace though.
  20. Finished JC2, I expect I'll start playing some more TF2 again and try and complete Fallout 3: GotY now I've got it working on my laptop. I got 90+ hours into it, but only did one of the expansions and never even finished the main story. I think Broken Steel makes you way too overpowered though, my character is level 26 and has pretty much all the VATS boosting perks and level 80+ in all skills which makes him ridiculously strong. Dogmeat can survive a direct hit from a mini nuke too, because there's a bug where he levels up with you. Ah well :P
  21. Everyone loves abusing in game physics: Apologies for the often crappy music that is put with these videos.
  22. I suppose there could be someone on there, WPA can be cracked, though apparently it takes a fair while longer than WEP (About 15 minutes I think). If you can switch to, or get a router with WPA2 then try that with a new strong password; though with the other settings you've got it looks like someone is being pretty determined to get on your net if they are. My only other guess is that the ISP has mucked up somewhere on their end and is possibly confusing someone else's data with yours, though that's very unlikely.
