The question, i believe, however remains. How do you go about securing the connection? I can't see if it's been answered. Oh, and perhaps, if anyone is feeling particularly helpfully could someone tell me what a 'ping' exactly is or point me the direction to find out? I've never really figured it out although i layed back supposing it's simply a relay time between computer-server. It just seems what a 'ping' would be (Hey! like ping pong : )

I know this is a lame, perhaps even bothersome, suggestion seeing as it's ignoring your problem but you really ought to get firefox. Yes, this isn't an answer to IE but it is a solution i suppose. Or, at least, Opera. But there's no need to turn this into a browser battle if you'd ratehr not and for some inexplicable (maybe the evilness of IE being preinstalled and you used to it?) reason want to stick with IE.

Ouch :'( Slow internet makes it all the harder. If you have a wireless card try and find out where your local starbucks is. Or barnes and noble. (or give me zip code i'll give you info since you've got slow connection). They often have fast wireless free there.

I really like Joeda's recommendation. Then again, i didnt research Intel so i can't be sure how great they're. Intel did start kicking but Amd slashed prices to keep up. It's a tough decision and mine was blinded by "loyalty" I'm still not sure if it was smart. However, going his recommendation I'd say you'd still want at least 2gig. Or, maybe not :\ I guess you'll rarely use more then 1gig but in the near future will start needed 2gig. So, it's a question of lazinesss. 1gig now, add a gig later (very easy) or just get it now (more expensive slightly although ram prices went down a bit since i bought during the high :P) Oh, and you don't want to get 1stick of ram :/ unless you soon get another stick because it runs 10% slower....but, hey, like i said you probably wouldnt use that much ram for still a bit once vista comes out and (if) you get it.
