  1. :) But of course you did make an extremely valid point. When i relooked my post it did look like crap. I just don't often have a connection between my brain and normal brains. My brain sort of skips around :P - I don't make sense always.
  2. Wohoo Zonda agreed with me ;) Another note: If you become adament for Dell then make make *make* sure you research the configuration they suggest. Please? I'd really hate anyone get nearly screwed like my friend :s <>
  3. *firefox. And no, because i can handle perfectly non-graphical sites [Or simply sites with general pics, but not demandingish like rs]. However, perhaps that's merely along your lines and just has to do with it, and because my GPU client is running at max use of 97% It's not like i have my drivers unistalled in anycase. It's just the GPU client strongly uses the GPU for crunching. I'm not quite sure the meaning of your explanation For background, 2gb DDR2 800 Corsair [Lol i got it cheaper then Dr667 :)] AMD X2 3800 ATI X1900XT 256mb 20.1 16:9 widescreen. Still apply?
  4. Look, what may be dumb (besides the whole 'no offence' phrase that's such a stupid phrase :P) is how i clarified it [my lack of clarifying more precisely]. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE ANTIVIRUS. -However, disabling active scanning temporarily while using a firewall to lock any internet activity besides the client might free up some resources EVERY SO OFTEN- -Every so often, for my old computer, i would get a mash up of junk. Unneccesary files, install-unistall-not everything gets unistalled. And of course even with paid programs some spyware is probably hiding around. EVERY-SO-OFTEN perhaps every two-three years reformatting can help by starting from scratch. Just remember you need some way to backup essential things. The issue wasn't whether he had a keylogger, it was resource use. Some junk probably accumulated. I didnt mean to convey the message that you shouldnt run any antivirus, and should install reformat ever few weeks to start over :D Lol sorry.
  5. Actually, a few are. There was a wallstreet journal article on that and even a tip.it times reference? I think there is some potential-potential for not using Java. It's unknown whether in fact the allure is Java or if it's the less stress on combat. I for one love rs and dont play Wow because Wow is too stressed on combat. I love runescape skills and the community (well some of them :? - Over time good people accumulate :))
  6. In regard to maplestory, i was under the impression that was a lot less demanding game then rs. Can you not play maplestory? By the way, yes, people. Rs does use the graphics card even then it's java based :s. I know this for sure, whether the reasoning is this or that, because my Folding@home GPU client gives Rs lag. There we goo...
  7. :s I didnt think of that lol, thanks :) [but, ehh...Well, i assume that runs. It's only just 1x256+1x512 would only run at 256 right?
  8. If emachines come with the windows cds, every so often on my older computer i will reinstall windows. It format everything (wipes it) so it's a little cleaner. As general, dumping crap, running antivirus, running antispyware, all are recommended. Disabling antivirus although still running a firewall is good for sticking to one site (rs) But, to fix any potential virus, antispyware, clogged registry, the forces of entropy on an OS- reformatting works. The windows key/Certificate of Authenticity and windows install disks/floppies are neccesary though.
  9. First off. There is hardly any danger in downgrading your psp. My psp is 1.5 If you were smart enough to stop upgrading firmware, the hacks get caught up very fast. I stupidly went from 1.5 to 2.6. In six months they had an 'easy unistaller' out. Just hooked it up connected to power, and was done. Bam. The danger is in writing to your flash, not playing homebrew. I havn't found the Java 'hack' though so i'm pretty excited to go try runescape on my psp later :) I heard concerns over legality, but isn't Java not under a public license? You should however note for *some* downgrades it would require you buy the older version of Liberty city (most likely off ebay, and you can just resell it for minimal loss). The most dangerous part is finding a safe site. Actually, it's ridiculously easy but it's dangerous if you're extremely stupid (Like, look for a good looking site. Not a '0mg download super magic 2.9 firmware downgrader [firmware is 2.81 max atm)
  10. Macs are even more overpriced then windows. Dual booting would require dropping another 200 dollars. Ridiculous waste of 18% of his budget. Even more if you aren't factoring in the fact mac hardware is overpriced.
  11. A laptop will be MUCH more obselete. Unless there's a massive benefit to the laptop DONT GET IT! Desktop wouldn't exist if it wasnt better :) Desktops will be more powerful then any laptop of the equal price. Laptops need to have less hot proccessers, space cutback (my graphics card would fill up over a fourth of any massive laptop even :P) I dont recommend dell after looking at a few of the crap configurations they 'recommended' for a friend. They nearly got him buying a conroe system but with everything else being TRASH so it looked good but would be worthless. http://www.ibuypower.com has extremely cutthroat prices (especially for being able to customize parts alot). Be wary of their cases, talk to the customer support via text if your configuration doesn't have a good case. They have certain cases you have to request, like the Antec P180 which is way better then the crap flashy cases they show. Also, two warnings: 1. A few people claim it's not great. Don't expect any better support then you'd get from Dell. Its not greatest support. 2. You still need to research parts you want. http://www.tomshardware.com to see what parts are good. 3. Try out different configurations of the same things. Prices vary. Check newegg.com to compare to ideal things. I found is sometimes even beeing slightly cheaper then newegg. No.2 isn't a warning, just a note.
  12. I was pleasently shocked finding 100 ranarrs in my bank, and 100 earlier, and still 20 seeds left. That's 1.4mil worth and i've never spent more then 1mil on seeds and still have 20 seeds left. :-). 800k profit for a 1mil investment :-) I also love the method posted regarding hand in sand. I need to catch up with farming quests. It seems if you dont have them all done your plants die more. Or it may not be correlated but so it's been with me. :/
  13. Antex P180 anyone? very big and thus heavy, but it has great air flow, 12cm fans (can run slower rpm and be quiter), thriple layered walls (metal, plastic, metal. Quieter but still transfers heat well), seperate bays, easy easy EASY use, and silicon vibration pads in the bays.  I love mine.
  14. Out of curiousity...I'm sorry I don't know what your issue is...but why would you have 1.5 gigs of rams unless you have 6x256mb? You always want to run dual ram... So 1gig = 2x512, or 4x256 (although 256 is outdated :P even 512 is especially DDR1)
  15. http://Www.anandtech.com http://Www.tomshardware.com Many guides, informations, and especially tom's has loads of benchmarks. Research, that's how you figure it out :)
  16. I used to use winamp, I loved it, I'll try it again lol :)
  17. Yargh I still dont get how it's any faster :(

Anandtech has a nice forum of helpful people for things like this. They helped me with my first build + the main forum has a recentish budget guide. But, be nice to them :s they're not payed either :)
  19. Dont forget you shouldn't go font crazy :) that's way too easy, but it slows down word considerably every time you load it up. It might not bother you, and possibly your computer is fast enough anyhow, but for instance on my old computer the mass of fonts i had incredibly and ridiculously slowed down my word boot.
  20. For the record ewido is a very nice compliment to spybot/ad-aware for anti-spyware however it's now under the name of AVG antispyware at http://www.grisoft.com
  21. Stop being a pompous [wagon] Zonda. Perhaps he doesn't have one...and that's probably a result of not knowing what they are (which is reasonable) Definition of "firewall" (Definition brought to you by SearchSecurity.com) "A firewall is a set of related programs, located at a network gateway server , that protects the resources of a private network from users from other networks. (The term also implies the security policy that is ..." Basically, it's a entry-gaurd between your computer and the internet. Two [Edit make that three i can't count] reasonable ones are Sunbelt Keiro Personall Firewall, which is a free (although it might not be free anymore, i heard it's just a long trial now) and is a sturdy two part firewall There's Zonealarm Pro whic is an EXCELLENT firewall, but you must pay forit. There's Zonealarm free which is a reasonable better-then-windows firewall and is free :-) If Keiro is stll free though get it over this.I still highly recommend Zonealarm Free. On the otherhand i might be an arrogant jerk if it turns out you do know what a firewall is...
  22. Sheeple! Brilliant! Yes, it's a forced update now, i can't remember if there was a eual though. I got it, although i never use it.
  23. Erm, how do you do that them? They always sseem to have my questions it'd be nice to see answers..all i noticed is numberlockon but i have no idea what that implies.
