And if you're surprised (because you dont have much on it) then a file could be corrupt. Run scndisk under my computer>(local drive X: probably C:)>Properties>Tools>Scandisk I've had a corrupt file show up as 399.gig on my 32mb flash drive :-)

Well, actually, there is some danger it pictures. I'm not too sure how much of it has to do with danger to tip.it infrastructure or the end-user, but in general it's considered to be safe. anyhow...Tip.it is rather, um, well, they'd definetly stop something if it's likely to be dangerous. earlier in the year there was a microsoft exploit that was very dangerous in terms of pictures, but it's been patched for users who have windows updated. If you're running sp1 for whatever reason i'd suggest you get a hotfix or third party patch from a good source

I used to run 98/95? first edition on a similar computer, but had problems with ethernet internet until i upgraded it to 95 second edition... I'm shocked XP runs on that :)

Um...Windows can search for you > Windows update (website) and sometimes driver updates will show up in the optional custom hardware downloads, and also right click > properties > settings > advanced > Sometimes it'll mention updateing the graphics card automatically (my old nvidia did but this ati has a it's own control center for that :) Catalyst Control Center) Did you ever update the drivers when you first got the computer?

Do you mean without raising hp? Def just dont use the shield+book and you will not get defence exp. You will get hp exp if you deal damage so do non-damaging spells for no hp exp

Hmm...In case it got shrouded with the (It's good :) flow of msgs i posted a link to Anandtech.com's low-end budget guide...It's a good read i'd look at it before deciding built-or-dell. I think if no monitor, mouse, or keyboard is needed...$500 dollars could get a reasonable computer. Well, maybe 600-700 would be more reasonable actually...650 if possible. You can go lower [500] if you dont plan on playing any games besides runescape such.

Erm, i wouldnt recommend taking apart a dell - that's pointless :D. A cool case wont mean much and will take 100 dollars off the budget. Oh, and i dont think linux is so great for your brother, he'll probably be playing games for windows which are harder to play on linux? Well, dont swear me by that i dont know much about linux actually. XP home basic costs 80-90 dollars.

Well, laptops are nice, but you'll need to decide if you want a Desktop or Laptop. I really would not recommend a laptop unless you found a miraculous deal. Laptops probably arent neccesary for a new user or young user like your brother and for the same money you can get a more powerful, and in fact reasonable, laptop. If you splurge up to 650 dollars i'd imagine something quite functional and maybe you can buy that for 500 by bargain hunting the peices on ebay. Building a computer is a scary adventure but it's worth it for value and for education. i got incredibly mad at everyone who told me this while i was looking for a new computer but...Rofl...I'm glad they did hammer it now. (It was worth it i feel...But then again..I did get super mad at everyone yelling at me to build it myself XD and i got scared a few times thinking i messed up.>But there is plenty of online help :)

I heard the Eclipse II was really good, and quiet (which i'm really interested in) [Keyboard] it was 50 dollars last i checked on newegg...It might be cheaper now. And I'd never advocate a 'gaming mouse' those sort that sell for 80-100 dollars...I'd just get a 15-30 dollar mouse at most...They last a long time. Edit: Nevermind it seems i'm outclassed here...You guys are 'into it' alot more then me :P So i suppose you might need different keyboards. I'm the sort of player who cares for .3 seconds but you look like the .05 second peeps :) [i'm actually complimenting believe it or not]

Nice, I'm not much of a meleerer so i dont use this. I do however recognize the use of veracs even for mages. With just the top i can manage 57+ mage (more if you use seers, infinity book, or better then guthix shield), as opposed to +83 with all mage. This is good you ask? Yes, very, I end up with a 200ish defence compared to 60ish :-) [i can now manage it on 1 pot]

If you're running spycatcher express (free or pro) or Zonealarm Pro it might be them. The fraps program might have junky methods for detecting your Prinscrn keystroke which can be confused for a keylogger (and they disable that function, but you'd probably get a notice)

I recommend media monkey, it's good (although i never used it for more then testing... i dont need it) Real one player or One real player or whatever the **** it's called now is aweful aweful program that i've vowed never to use agan. TERRIBLE uncaring arrogant creators.

IE! Best browser with revolutionary support strikes back at weak meak other browsers with it's new BRIGHT idea...TABS! Oh, and a few security bumps supposively, but the thing is that just fixing old problems doesnt count as packed with security to me. It's not that great i think for microsofts biggest (and most important) chance to get back the browser market share and some reputation
