  1. That's not really no lifing at all. I think I've made my definition, and what I protest against very clear at this point. The case you've described there isn't it. I have no problems with that sort of lifestyle, so long as you took periodic breaks from the computer screen, of course. Then I'm not sure what we're debating here... You and Reb have convinced me in several points but as I said before, the 'mild-no-lifing' we both agree on is what I'm truely agruing against. And your side isn't that mild, rather extreme. You implied earlier on in this topic that no-lifing as a teenager is fine 'coz it's just what teenagers are in to. That is what I was replying to. I might of spoken to an specific exampe. But I didn't mean just teenagers if you saw it like that, I apologize. And I suppose these jerks would be classed as 'nerds' then, obviously? If not, they're completely irrelevant to the point I was making. The point I was trying to make is that just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean you're emotionally mature. Sorry not to of worded it better. Naturally. : In the end, we both agree that mild-no-lifing is acceptable to whoever wants to. I may of dug myself in a hole as I moved onto the extreme no-lifers and I shouldn't have. Lets just end it right here and now. :)
  2. You should of waited until he unzipped his pants. When he was reaching down there smack it with a large blunt object. Then tell him to GTFO. These people are worthless pieces of crap its not even worth being friends with these low-lives.
  3. Its simple: Jagex listened to the wrong people. They listened when all the little kids cried about luring and scamming and getting their accounts hacked. So they installed the idiotic securtity dungeons and the wilderness ditch. Then they thought too little on the autoer problem. Created a half-baked method of PKing and ruined orginial trading as we knew it. And last but not least, they listened to the little kids and made this game kiddy.
  4. I live in a country where we have national health insurance. Therefore, matters concerning people's health automatically DO become everyone's concern, since we ultimately have to pay for the treatment. Not just that, but our compassion as human beings should lead us to care for the welfare of others. Well if you play for 8 hours a day, whats the worse that can happen? Your eyesight is going to get dim? I'm sure glasses and supscriptions aren't THAT expenive. They are much worse cases that someone can get in more health issues than playing a video game. Thats irrevelant. Just because it happens to you doesn't mean it will to others. You know, after I watch a good made, funny machinima, I feel much better about myself and feel like I can take on the world- but wait, I watch it on a PC! Oh noes. Again, I am defending mild-no-lifing...as in, for the next two days I have nothing to do but on the 3rd me and my friends are going to a party. Why can't I play a lot on those two days? I'm still connected to real life. I didn't mean this to be solely on teenagers; any one can no life. It's a good point... some girls actually like nerds. In general though, being in an emotional relationship shows three things: A) Emotional maturity; B) Social confidence C) Good communication skills. None of which are gained by playing a game all day. That's why people tend to find a correlation between the two. You should know Ginger, that most teenagers don't look relationships as the importance of care and love as we do. You are correct in B and C, but A...not so much seeing these guys (who say "Wow you got a gf nice man, ur not a nerd ne more") screw a girl and move on. Its not anything emotional mature about it.
  5. Giordano replied to a post in a topic in General Discussion
Highlanders, the point we're trying to make is that if you want to sell a product in another country, you should be able to sound professional and convincing in that country's language. If I went to France and tried to use the little French I know, not many people will bother to look at my stuff. But if I go to Austraila were they do speak English and I speak English, I can sound professional to them. They ARE professionals, isn't that right Highlanders? Then they should at least sound like it.
  6. This is my own view, nothing relating to the bible, but this piece of scum in question raped and killed 2 innocent girls, I see nothing that can justify allowing him to live. Also factor in that keeping him in jail costs huge amounts of money that could be put into healthcare, so killing him could save 2-3 lives by taking 1 that IMO doesn't deserve to live anymore. I won't get started on arguing against the death penalty, since it's been done extensively and eloquently by Ginger in the dedicated thread already. Killing him is one thing, but when people start going on about splattering his brains all over the walls or boiling him alive (or whatever has been said) then that goes beyond justice and into the realms of twisted revenge. Well isn't justice just that? Revenge? If we were a true civilized society we would forgive the fat man and let him roam free hoping our kindness has cured the errors of his ways...But unfortunately we know other humans aren't as nice as we want them to be. It only seems logical: as soon as an innocent person kills an innocent person, the murderer becomes gulity. A gulity person shouldn't have the same rights as an innocent. This is where we go for the old "An eye for an eye" method on him. The only exception to the rule is this: when an innocent person kills an gulity person. Since the gulity, has no rights and cannot be concidered as a human being.
  7. Its offical. Mlbfan is just a ignorant kid who listens to his conservative father on whatever he says. I bet he's one of those X-box Halo fanboys we all loath on X-box live. Either we erase Nintento off the map or make X-Box the new measures of counter-terrorism.
  8. And what other reason than being unhealthy is wrong with 'mild no-lifing"? (Mild being done with school or work, having free time, to play for hours.) If I have 7 hours to kill, why not play some video games in the process? Why the hell do you have to stop me? Besides, drugs and alcahol are more of a 'cancer' than playing video games. # of extreme no-lifers / # total population is quite small and thus I don't think I HAVE to worry about this 'epidemenic'. Please keep in mind I'm just talking about 'mild no-lifing.'! Not an addict that plays from age 5 to age 55 in his mom's house.
  9. There was no 'if' about my post. It was fairly explicit and easy to comprehend. But since you demand I clarify my position: I'm not saying everyone has to be very social. I'm not even saying being very social is key towards health. However, we humans are a sociable species. That's how we get on - by communicating to one another, doing jobs for each other and occupying certain niches. If it's unacceptable for a man to sit at home all day watching TV while doing nothing productive with their life, why is it suddenly acceptable for someone to play RS all day and 'no-life'? Or even more, why is it when we criticise such a lifestyle, it's unacceptable because it's none of our business? Then add the fact some of these no-lifers won't have jobs (not necessarily high-paid jobs, but any job at all), and will therefore be living off their parents' income or even worse they'll be living off the state. For doing what? They're not disabled - they could get off their backside and contribute something to society quite easily. I'm sorry, but I have massive problems with people who just leach off others and don't bother to contribute anything in return. And as for the health issue, no, playing RuneScape all day is NOT socially healthy. Since so many people don't seem to know the definition of health, I'll post it: I've have thought it obvious to anyone with an IQ over 75 that spending hours upon hours on RuneScape, even if you're 'talking' to people on there, is NOT socially healthy, and frankly if you're playing for that long each day, it's questionable whether you have a psychological addiction (thus you're not mentally well either). tl;dr version: It's severely unhealthy, and frankly as an adult you should be willing to work your way through life anyway. So basically you hate people who live on others and do nothing in return...that's acceptable and I will even agree with you. But what you're talking about is extreme addiction, not mild-no-lifing when you're a teenager. I'm talking about the latter. Complete depentence from others to sustain your life so you can play video games is idiotic and selfish, I will agree with that. Take it this way: for an adult to play 18 hours of the day without a job being supported by parents is lazy and utterly short-sighted and dull. However, if someone has a 10-hour job, sleeps for 6, that leaves 8 hours of freetime a day. He could play games all those eight hours, every day. He has a job, self-sustaining, no social life, but what is it in our intrests (complete strangers by the way) to tell him not to? The problem in this debate is defining "no-lifing"...some people take it literraly meaning absolutly no lifes, playing video games from dawn to dusk. Others see it as 5+hours. For the sake of this thread, I'll use the term 'no-lifing' as someone who plays excessive, probably 3+hours straight and has a little social life. I will stop defending them upto the point of literal no-lifing. Dawn to dusk playing in their parents' house. But until then, if a teenager is a nerd and has no friends or girlfriend and plays RS all day after school, for all I bloody care he can damn do it. If an adult plays RS after his work's done again, for all I bloody care he can very well damn do it. And a little extra question to anyone who can answer...why is having a girlfriend or boyfriend like an automatic "Get out of Nerd-status" card? Just wonderin'.
  10. Its terrible as in the sense that smoking is terrible. Bad to your health, makes you look ugly, blah blah blah. But I'm not going around "HAHA you smoke, you loser!" No, I don't like no-lifing, its a bad thing to do BUT people can do it all they want for all I care. Its not always "I think this so everyone else who doesn't follow sucks." I also think doing drugs is a bad thing to do but if people wanna do it without harming others then let them. EDIT - I would like to say before I cause confusion, I'm talking about mild no-lifeing here. As in playing 10 hours a day cuz you have nothing else to do. Not giving up school, refusing to work, staying in your mom's house until 40, etc. Because techically this would be called more like "Excessive playing" but for the sake of this discussion and the idiots in the world, lets leave it at "no-lifing" for now.
  11. Rephrasing: "It's a terrible lifestyle. My only argument against you, thus, is that if I want to kill myself spiritually, I very damn well will, and there's nothing you can do to stop me from destroying my soul from the inside out by boxing myself in my parents' basement for my entire life. Ha, I win." What the hell are we talking about here now? Being not social and playing games for a long period of time or total isolation?
  12. Chicken Kicking  "You don't look like much of a Chicken Chaser to me." That or any Canadian sport. Beaver Lauching, Moose riding, moose catching...then I'll actually watch the Olympics. \
  13. Thanks for the lines Will and Forsaken. :D PM'ed ya back, RSGamer and... That's a good idea but I don't think all 20ish skills will fit. Even without combat thats like 15? We're saying "I love to level skills." in less than two seconds and I don't wanna give my audience a siezure. However, that line has already been filmed. Maybe we could use that method with "I love to pwn fast" or "I like to rack in kills" with each victory being one picture. I'll look into it. Thanks Snewham and Magma! Just send me a PM of which lines you wanna do and then I'll relpy and your next PM to me should be the lines. :D BTW, I updated the Lyrics to include which ones are already taken or done. So check that before dropping me a PM.
  14. It matters that when I ring up a call centre expecting a straight-forward conversation, but because they spend their whole time watching TV/playing computer games, they possess the communication skills of a garden snail. Communication skills are essential in order to get on in the world, and if you can't see that, that's your problem. When you go for a job, and they ask you for past experience, are you honestly going to sit there and say: "Well, my best achievement in life was getting 99 Fishing on an online computer game. I spent hundreds of hours doing it"? You'd be (rightly) laughed out of the door. I understand there are some personalities (typically introverted) which ask for 'alone time', and many of these people achieve this by playing computer games. However, this doesn't mean socially isolating yourself from everyone else is suddenly 'healthy', nor does it mean it's none of our business when you go and enter jobs later on in life. There is a difference between no-lifing and escapism. The latter is a perfectly natural human desire. The former is frankly nothing short of an addiction, and is most certainly unnatural and unhealthy. You have failed to prove anything. Having communication skills is needed in the work force, I agree. Having a nice full conversation is nice, I agree. Having asocial skills is a trait, I agree. But if they don't want to, who cares? Does it bloody matter if they spend 15 hours indoors when you can do whatever you want? Unless, if you're saying EVERYONE has to be very soical and have GREAT jobs. If so, I apologize your highness.
  15. Being socially weak is a worthless and pathetic trait. I view it as not having a trait, not a trait itself. Regardless though, why does it matter to you? Even if it is a worthless trait, does it affect you in your social traits?
  16. You got it. I'm gonna reply to your PM in a bit. Well if we can get enough voice actors in the next week, I'll say it'll be done before the end of August actually.
  17. Well nothing dangerous has happened to me, but in Friday January 12, 2007 it snowed in my area. :o In Southern California thats quite rare...last time it happened I believe it was in the 1930s... A teacher got headshotted by a snowball.
  18. With the return of this thread I would like to ask: What the $#%! is the CoS? And what the $#%^ is this Anon? 4Chan on tanks?
  19. Haha, can't argue with that. I always have a smile on my face when I order Chinese. :) Welcome to City Wok. You want the city chicken? Ok, ok and the city steak? Ok...
  20. Yes and No; the only way I can explain what I mean is taking the god sword as an example, now we could of said before it we needed some variety of swords, but now we have the god sword people complain about how over the top it is, Where do jagex go now from the god sword? Do they make even more of a variety just to please the customer? Until the day comes when you can 1 hit someone with 99 defence. Same goes for bosses, the more the variety the harder they will get, and the more stupid the game will become, we already have a few bosses that can 1 hit you, or kill you in 2 hits, you create more varieties and it will just become over the top, just my 2 cents. And my post wasn't suggesting that the KBD needs new UBER AWESOME POWER RANGER DROPS! - I was just saying that it needs updating or tweaking. Varity isn't making a harder monster. Varity is having like 3 monsters at the KQ difficulty, or having more of group bosses at the DQ level. If we take these into numbers (regardless on its real difficultly) having Jad at 702 and then making a new monster at 850 isn't varity. Having the KQ at 302 (or something around there) then making a new, say Dark Beast Boss at lvl 290 and a Demon boss at 315 gives more varity than just making a harder boss. Varity isn't always a harder, but just more of the ones we have. We as RuneScapers only have (in order of difficulty) KBD, DK, KQ, GWD, Jad as major bosses. What if we had say SK, TG, KBD, PRF, GG, DK, DBB, KQ, DB, GH, GWD, HY, Jad? MUCH more varity but none being more powerful than Jad.
  21. You must have a really nice, socially active life. Oh wait- And may I ask why a social life is so important? Most ignorant flamers value social interaction as godly. Why are girls so important? Hell if I know. And yes, girls (or boys if you're a girl.). Being 'social' in their terms is indirectly getting a girlfriend...as if automatically having a girlfriend makes you cured from your 'nerd/no-lifer' status. May I ask, why is having a girlfriend is so imporant when most of you go and leave thru several different girls in such a short period of time?
  22. What Boss Updaters want is further seperate the level seperation between normal monsters and bosses. Wouldn't you agree, like most boss hunters, the need of more bosses? Then why not leave the KBG as a 'easier' boss and add some hard ones. Besides, to someone starting out Boss hunting he could try out the KBG for first-time experience if you think its so easy. Deloria is absoultly right. If its too easy don't fight him. We need some boss varity in both levels and difficulty. The more varity the better, right?
  23. Interesting questionaire. Laugh it off and try to calm the crowd down. "So you're saying you don't have a nice arse?" Same as 1, laugh it off. But since they're probably ignorant teenagers have some cursing and slurs thrown in my head. "What's wrong?" I really had to think on this one...what would I do? Then I thought the first thing that came out of my head. ^
  24. Hm, strange...the WoWinsider article says its only available in EU and Chinese worlds, but I'm getting it in a US server. :|
