These two are the best ones out of the list. It doesn't matter that the revolution happened 250 years ago, the parties are still present: the power-hungry government and the people. When the government screws the majority over, what do you think the majority should do? Stay and do nothing? Let the government do as it pleases? Any government isn't as trustworthy no matter where, or when you are. Especially when a certian government has the largest military in the world and one of the richest. Issy, you shouldn't take those statements literatly...think before you post a little. I know I have no solid facts or arguments to back this up but its so barbaric and stupid! Refer to my post up above. Without guns the people won't have a resistance against the country's military. No they would be illegal too ... :? He means that people would look onto other things to use, such as knives, bats, and stuff. Between you and me, I perfer to be killed through a quick shot in the heart than being beat to death. An absolutely ridiculous thing to say if you're actually serious! (Which I doubt) If so there is so much wrong with it I barely know where to start! Ok, firstly, crime and misspelt words and totally different things. Crime is, in most cases, morally wrong and has a bad effect on society. Misspelt words, on the other hand, are not morally wrong, do not cause misery, death or robbery, and do not have a particularly bad effect on our society. Yeah, ok, some people are weird about misspelt words, but dont try and retaliate with some stupid argument. Anyway, people are not going to be 'scared' by the potential of misspelling words. People are, however, going to be scared about guns. Again, stop thinking literatlly...the reason why people misspell words is because they are not educated. So if we educate the people about guns, there will be less gun crime; just like if we educate the students there will be less misspelt words. It's fine to make laws, it's another thing for them to be morally right. I could say "The rights of white and heterosexual people to have priorities over blacks and homosexuals shall not be infringed." So, that argument doesn't really make sense. Erm...what? There is no such thing as that law in the consitution and thus, it can infringed. We're talking about the consitution that created the country and current politicans trying to change all of that. Not hypotheical law making. They wont. Again, how can you know for sure? History proves people in power are mostly power-hungry and money-hungry. The US government is no execption. Lol! Thats so stupid. Tomorrow, I'll say, "Yesterday, no-one died in London due to gun and knife crime, so I can safely say there is no problem". As we know that's rubbish. A single day is not enough to come to a judgement on a country's problems. Ratio between Number of gun-related deaths : Number of gun owners. Pretty small number concidering how many people have guns. Oh, really? Well could you explain why every year over 5000 American children are killed by firearms? Why every two years more Americans are killed due to firearms than the number of American casualties during the Vietnam War? Why firearms cause thirty six million deaths every year? Or why Americans kill 19x more than any of the other 25 richest countries in the world? Yes, of course, clearly Americans are only using guns for self-defence! The good citizens are using it in self-defense, not the criminals. It is the police's job to crack down crime, not the government and their degrading of our rights. I think again this is in guncontrols favour? You think all gun-owners are serial killers. Lets say I give you a gun. Would you shoot me on the spot? I think not. You wouldn't really use the gun much until someone tried to rob you probably. Not to worry, that's what I'm like too. And I'm not blood thirsty nor anti-gun! No, because as far as I'm concerned only a criminal would carry a gun. Ended in your first sentence. If a criminal robs a store with a gun and the law-obeying shopkeep can't defend back, the criminal is safe and has the money. Hell, the criminal might even kill the poor ol' shopkeep. Died thanks to the government. How typical.
  2. I like it to stay as coins, since GP sounds stupid when you say it.
  3. Havfta agree with AoE3...AoE2 kicked arse! \ I also hated Star Wars Battlefront 2...had a completely different feeling to it than the first...although most of you probably disagree with me.... :shame:
  4. I guess I mean 'traditional book'. : P I'll add that to the top post. Awww...unfortunately that's my weak point in writing. Oh well, good luck to the contestants!
  5. Why do these spawn up every two weeks or so... :wall: And besides, wouldn't this be more of a Questionaire?
  6. Hmm, sounds like a bit much but I think I can make it. But to clarify, what type of literature are you looking for? Traditional books, plays, etc? Just to give an idea to anybody who is intrested, I've written a 13K word summary before and it was 20 pages. My guess would be around 40-45 pages for this contest.
  7. I believe the flushing toilet was invented in 1513 by Thomas Crapper. Thus, the crapper. :P
  8. I would have to say the written language, to communicate without being right there phyiscally. To record history for future generations, to inspire and destroy.
  9. This fact people seem to forget for some reason... And truthfully, I would rather get killed by a gun than a bat. Much less pain.
  10. Funny thing is, Sex Ed is a joke and most parents don't want to do "The Talk". Not all sex ed courses fail, and most does not mean all, some parents do have the talk. I'm 17 and I get it everytime I'm having my gf over. -.- Um, Most =/= all, yes. Why do you think there are some decent people out there like us? :D
  11. I loved Cyrano de Bergerac when I read it at school. Best romantic comedy ever. \

  13. 60%? The toll doesn't even pass 30%... :wall:
  14. I don't see how anyone can let some random [wagon] steal their stuff. I wouldn't want some guy breaking in my house, stealing my hard-earned possesons while he gets it with little effort. While I'm a contributing member of society this robber goes in and steals my stuff, not a contributing member now...so why give him the chance to go free? Personally I wouldn't shoot to kill because that brings more problems, but for my 'second' shot I'll shoot him somewhere he'll really regret.
  15. Although I do not agree with China's politics, the Olympics were made to be a time to drop issues and play some games.

Word to the wise: When in California, pick a home in the city. :geek: I haven't seen much smoke where I live, which is west of San Bernadino.
  17. I am old enough to undestand this. I have read 1984 in my English class. If America does become like that of George Orwell's 1984 then I would say you were right. But I still say that these are just Safety Precautions, why would the Government go mad with power and do what they were preventing? Why would they monitor your privacy like rats in a scientific lab? Why are you scared of those Acts, Range? Are you afraid that the Government will betray you, after all we are just millions and out fo those millions it'd be you? If they do start to go mad with power than we still have the right to revolt we are millions, no? After all, it's still Democracy and the people Depend on the Government, Just like the Government Depends on you. If this balance of Democracy were to be broken, then all Hell will be lose and what you feared will happen. War. To think, this started with just a bracelet......... A The government would want to keep its power and money, first of all. Secondly, its not just one person will be betrayed, it'll be thousands, millions. Governments can't be trusted, especially when they're rich, old men with nothing much to lose execpt their money. And we can't revolt dufus, the government knows where every single citizen would be at. If they see a mass revolt heading up to the White House just activate the shock and send in the infrantry. Revolt taken down quickly. Lastly, this country is not a democracy. Can we choose what to do? No. We send some old rich men to talk together with other old rich men and without our concent, they can do whatever much they please. Seriously, what federal acts do we vote for? Other than the president, what else? Nothing; thats the job for the Congress. But, (~)500 members are more likely to agree with each other than 300,000,000. Those 500 also share a lot in common: rich and powerful, and want to stay that way.
  18. Example? You're using it right now: 9/11. Using it as "omg it can't happen again!" is letting the government do whatever they please. Using a single event shouldn't allow the government to change everything their forefathers fought for. If terrorists were attacknig weekly or monthly, then I might think differently. But once seven years ago? Plus once they got us undercontrol, who knows what they can do? For all we know, the great democratic government can easily switch to a dictatorship. Then we'll be shocked and revolt- but wait, they know where everyone is and can kill us instantly. Its not our privacy I'm concerned about, its what the government can do afterwards. Have you noticed all Congressmen and Senators, etc are all rich? They're seperate from the common folk and thus can't be too trusted into protecting us. All they want is to keep their money.

And yet a horrible, stupid opinion. Saying that "but tbh so do many others" does not make it right neither. Just because a select few attacked your precious buses, does not make the majority terrorists. Since the white Europeans attacked England during 1000s-1900s, you should be racist against whites too. Oh wait- I'm English. GF. :
  20. Basically what I think too. I'm not worried about running out of oil. When it does, Exxon will magically come up with an alternative fuel, claim rights to it, and sell it for their own profit. The oil companies are not stupid, they just want money and they will be the first to change to alternative fuels when the oil really runs out. Think about it: during the 1960s the American government had almost no idea how to land on the moon. In a short 10 years, the US went from lauching their first rocket to landing on the moon. And that was with no profit whatsoever. With the oil running out, the oil companies will need something to profit out of. Give them 2 years to delvop a true alternative fuel max.

  22. Reminds me of that one Law and Order: SVU episode...when the 13-year old kid watched hardcore sex when he was home. The poor dad had to work all day since he and his wife got a divforce and the kid had no one to stop hm. He later raped a bunch of younger kids, thinking sex was normal because what he saw. And why did he think it was normal? Because no one he could trust told him otherwise. If his mother and father never divforced, they would have more time with the kid and (hopefully) explain sex to him, then he probably wouldn't of raped those children. His mind was blank on the subject, and because no one altered it, he thought rape was alright. If the parents let their children do what they want, then only god knows what those children are going to become. I know now that killing and rape is a horrible thing to do, and while I'll play the worse video games or watch the goriest or hardcore videos out there, I know I shouldn't reproudce that in real life. Problem is, parents don't commit to their vows when they marry, don't stick together til the day they part and the kids suffer from it. A parents' job is to raise their kids into a functioning positive member of society. Leaving them unattended is like leaving a puppy unattended: the puppy might escape through under the fence and not become the kid the parents want.
  23. Wait, what? :wall:
  24. I suggest leaving HD until next year when everyone has it. But now for my entry. Pasta Cheif [img=http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/2843/pastacheif2008fx9.png]
