  1. It's not only that they are wasting others time by camping at the worst time, they are actually wasting their own time by stocking up while everyone is doing so. It should be common courtesy to get a defender and get out, both to you and others.
  2. Well there is another way of slaying crawlers for effigies and using them on slayer which is good for around 50k slayer xp an hour. Normal slaying assuming 1 effigie per two hours is around 35k normal xp(counting banking and all of that, can be as high as 45k)+ 25k from effigies for a total of ~60k slayer xp an hour, however you get more other skill xp when killing crawlers.
  3. Well it's not really that bad- if you want accurate rates you have to time your tasks and do the math anyway, and the way you do certain tasks plays a big role in the rates. Overloading makes quite a nice difference for cannoning, while killing dark beasts at kurdals or black demons at resource dungeon slows some of those rates down. I think it's widely accepted to write down your slayer xp rates(and thus kill-rates) in your notes.
  4. Well, not since the Mage Shortbow anyway, but yes it's probably just bad luck. yeah, they never do that. well, ok, the whip was kind of nerfed, but well give em that. ah, and the granite maul. Bah, lets face it, it's their thing. All of those are relatively cheap items though and don't require any quests. Wasen't one of there justifications for not nerfing claws something like "it would be unfair to those who have brought it or done the quest". Cheap? whip was something like 1/4 of a blue partyhat at the time of the nerf.

  6. They are more efficient than rcing trough abyss(and more fun, ofcource).
  7. + 25 + 24 + 23 - 3 - 2 Guess I was wrong. And I think this is the right thread. I think most, if not all of us were. With the ease of getting it, this really sets them up for a hard to get(~100k tokens, maybe dg quest related) chaotic defender. It just seems as though because defenders were already so popular jagex thought they can take half a month off by introducing, effectively, nothing significant at all and calling it an update(the best way to look at it would be the book Brian wrote in a recent family guy episode).
  8. I think it's pretty clear from the rates that what can be cannoned, is cannoned.
  9. I'm still not sure how you can call something that uses melee strength 100% magic but i can agree on that the spec is magic based and does magic damage(and i haven't stated a fact contrary to this sentence).
  10. Disappointing update in every way really. This still doesn't make warriors guild useful in any way and what they basically did was add one new monster and two more items, all in a days work. They must be rolling under their tables laughing at the people fighting to get a chance to kill a cyclops every 10 minutes- and it's not as though this wasn't predictable- i was there for the initial update when people needed to get 7 defenders and it was a crazyhouse back then...
  11. Talk about dungeoneering is actually very much on topic as it's one of the controversial(though not quite as contriversial as slayer) skills our 'contestants' need to grind trough. I'm actually quite surprised by the timing of zarfots quitting. Had he played on for a couple more weeks he could easily have retired as nr 1, but if he stays quitted, big ups for him.
  12. 5m 5 years ago was worth bloody much more than 100m nowadays. inflation is just crazy...
  13. Errm, actually there is no way to determine this until the update is launched, as we don't know how the damage soak will be distributed. Other than that, i'd still like to see soak percentages on farseer to be absolutely certain of your theory(and it is only a theory as you have no proof of melee armor having mage soak either). It's not as though this would be hard to test(the shields clearly show how much damage was soaked). Saying that there is 100% proof of the spec being 100% magic attach is also bogus as we don't know how jagex classifies these things, and, as mentioned, it still uses melee strength(which none of the other magic spells do). What. We have three items in the game, currently, with damage soaking on their interface. This is definitely the same one that will be used by other armor when the update comes out, or else it was added within a month of the soaking update being released as pure coincidence. Two of these items have magic soak, one does not. The one with no magic soak does not soak Korasi's special, the other two do. This PROVES, DEFINITIVELY, that Korasi's special is magic as far as the soaking is concerned. No further tests trying to determine the exact soak are necessary or relevant, because we already know for a fact that it is not ranged or melee (since chaotic kite does not soak), but can be soaked (since the other two do). I agree that we don't know what armor stats will be like, and that is speculation. That's not what I'm claiming to be fact, at all. The facts are: -Melee armor is supposed to be weak to magic. -The melee dungeoneering kiteshield has no magic soak at all -Korasi's special is magic Draw your own conclusions from there, but mine are that people in melee armor will likely have a tough time with Korasi specs compared to other high damage specials after the update. Please stop clutching at straws, because it's really annoying having to repeat myself. You were wrong. Shock. Get over it. Are you stupid or just playing stupid? What have i stated as fact is wrong? anything? this is a discussion weather your theory is correct or not, and i was just offering counter-arguments why it could not be right. The reason your theory can't be correct is that is hypothetical- the update has yet to be released(talk about straws...). You can draw any amount of conclusions, however , none of them can be correct as there is no way to prove any of them just yet. I've already stated that your theory is likely correct, but since we don't know the specifics of the FORTHcoming update(or maybe you do....) we can't know for sure. If jagex is really looking to balance KO potential they can add level soak percentages or even make the KS spec melee based when soaking(and they've changed overpowered specs before). Learn some intelligence.

  15. You understand that 10 xp a room would already be a formula, don't ya?
  16. I don't understand how you can say there is no formula. From an obvious mathematical standpoint, if there were no formula to predict/calculate a value, it would have to be random, and i think we all pretty much know dungeoneering xp isn't given out at random. There is a formula, it is quite complex(has alot of variables), i don't know it, it is certainly not linear, most likely exponential or smth and if we had more data on it it wouldn't be tremendously hard to figure it out(i think we have some nice data about max prestige xp already). For your information, the formula for dragonkin lamps took quite long to figure out, first being proposed as level cubed divided by 20, then 20.2 and after a while(some weeks, i think a tip.it mod cracked it) we got to the exact formula(which i don't exactly remember). Another good example is the correlation between effigy droprate and combat level, which nobody at first thought were correlated. I'm quite sure the values for high level slayer monsters(and, for that matter, the xp per hit values on higher level monsters) are not random values but tied to some formula.
  17. Making stuff up? I haven't said anything untrue without absolute certainty, I'm just questioning your judgment on something you too don't have absolute proof of. If the spec was 100% magic, it shouldn't use melee level/prayers and equipment strength in calculating damage, however, as it does, you can't really call it a 100% mage attack, thus there is still question weather or not melee or magic or both soaks work on it. As i haven't seen tests on weather farseer soaks 7 or 14 percent, it is still very much speculation, added to that that we are not certain soaking will remain exactly the same as it is on the chaotic shields- if jagex really wants to reduce overall damage, they might just add equal soaks against all classes.
  18. QFC: 254-255-42-61984636 square, this is your chance, lvl 120 efficiency troll wearing FSH will definitely win
  19. I don't think we have 100% confirmation about the spec being 100% magic based so there is still a good chance melee soak will reduce it. Other than that, only mage armor will have significant melee soak and claws are affected very little by this update, so i don't think KS spec will be much better, if at all. AGS spec will be much worse, that's for sure. We absolutely know it's 100% magic based. It gives magic exp. It doesn't hit TDs praying mage, and does hit TDs praying melee. It does no damage to cyclopes (who have a 100% immunity to ranged and magic). It's reduced by magic prayer and farseer/eagle eye shields. What else do you want? I think it also gives melee xp, so that's one you missed. Apart from that, it's damage is still based upon melee str/str bonuses, thus melee soak might still work on it. Apart from that, if it's true that melee soak(for example, on the farseer shield) has no effect on it, you are likely right, but i haven't seen that information yet.
  20. I'd love to see you go to a work interview in one of those(and not a job at jagex) and try and explain what it means. I'd just LOVE that. I'd definitely hire you.

  22. I've never done any of them regularly as i don't find any of them fun.
  23. As far as i've heard it's not much better than spectral there and divine is still better, too.
  24. Sounds like alot of the minigames we already have...only it's in varrock...
  25. What stops you from doing that? Oh, you are too much of a wuss to try and pk in a dangerous situation. And yeah, green, the competence(or, rather, incompetence) of jagex would also be a major problem. I really don't think you know what my PK abilities or preferences are so let's just not discuss things we don't know about, alright? Point is it would be fun for it to be instanced so that is need not involve the general population, even on a PVP server. And I said "gang fight" because it would be between the rival gangs. So, please tell me the difference between a war of two clans on a pvp server in varrok and what you are suggesting? That it's safe? There have been bronze/etc wars before, nothing stops you from organizing one. Also, Gava, i don't see what's wrong with being conservative. Why does every MMORPG need to be a hybrid/mirror image of one another? Can't we have something....original?
