  1. None of the people on these forums is my boss so i think i'm pretty safe on that. I also don't limit myself just to always be nice, and when i'm fed up with silly ''umg people abyss pk me when it's not nice'', i put it in stern words. I don't care if you like it. As for your concern for the community, realistically, the community was much better three years ago so it really shouldn't be a problem. Back in those days we had both skilling and pking communities and they got along fine- people didn't stick their noses into places they weren't supposed to. Nowadays, as jagex effectively killed pking, skillers are more or less mocking pkers for not being able to play the game anymore. Just because jagex HAD to make this move doesn't mean it always should have remained this way. If you didn't pk, this update shouldn't cause strong opposition from you as it really benefits ALOT of people other than YOU. Another thing to consider is the fact that if jagex isn't too concerned about the botting/rwt situation, why should all there uninformed skillers be? RWT-ing will come back? what a joke(it never left).
  2. Junk won't be junk anymore, it will just lose most of it's market value. That is for items which are not bottomed in the ge, those items will just be useless. There will also be no advantage to owning junk.

There is really no way to know and thus suggest this. Don't forget, we didn't have summoning when people staked. Low level staking wasn't very popular or profitable, with the only exception being low level vs. maxed staking.
  4. Are such manners a mandatory feature in those supporting PKers? Then you wonder why we don't want it back? I don't think you really understand common courtesy. I genuinely HATE castle wars and quests, but if a poll came up about removing them i'd be indifferent as i understand that there are people who love that sort of content. If you didn't pk before the change, you shouldn't cry about wildy being dangerous. Don't be selfish about this, the game is not about you, it's about us.

I wasn't really completely answering your post, just general important things about staking. Your post really didn't have any content anyway.
  6. Dan i don't think you can argue that the removal of free trade has caused more trouble than it was worth. Lets be clear- it wasn't a good update and was never meant to be a good update- it was a necessity at the time, and isn't anymore. It's unfortunate, ofcource, that because the update somewhat changed the mechanics of the game into the way they weren't supposed to be that we have a LOAD of sissies here whining about the dangers of wilderness, but as jagex has promised to relocate content, it really shouldn't be a problem. The wilderness was always supposed to be dangerous, so anyone complaining about it becoming dangerous again should just shut their cracks.
  7. You obviously seem oblivious to junk trading. Junk has a value. 10b of junk is worth 7,5-9b market price, so you wouldn't actually be trading disk for ely. After trade restrictions are gone, junk will be.... junk(without any real monetary value).
  8. Second that. How the f does this belong in GD?

The most important thing about staking was that there were VERY few popular ways of doing it, so even if you can make an account that can beat everyone standing on your head licking your toes, it'd be useless as everyone would only fight standing up with boxing gloves. The only three very popular ways of staking used to be melee boxing, melee 1 item wep with specs and mage 1 item staking. All of these could make you billions, with any other method only used if both of the people felt good about it and had experience in them.
  10. There is really no reason that they should go back to those levels because of all the excess money from pvp. In all likelyhood, all rares except for cracker will become buyable, with blue being around 1.5-1.8b at first. If anyone wants an idea about the new item prices for items if free trade was reintroduced, you can use a coeficcient of 0.1-2.5 for every ''street'' gp. Thus, a blue partyhat should be 0.1 to 0.25 x(10b-0.6b) +0.6= 1.54- 2,95b. The prices are very preliminary and will drop ALOT once merchanters sell their stocks as owning the hats will become a loss of money. certainly not(people have to understand that street price means little in terms of real value). So...are elysians not-crashing or are disks crashing? Or...both? It's true that elys are slight junk, but not bad junk. With free trade, they'd be traded at around 500m. Disks have street value, but not a really huge amount of it, so in all likelyhood they'd be traded for around 200-250m, maybe less. 200=/=500
  11. certainly not(people have to understand that street price means little in terms of real value).

maxed. staking usually wasn't about stats and more about the details- hitting first and using your specs well. I doubt real skill staking will become very popular.
  13. The max cash limit applies within trades aswell, s it'd be useless to use spirit shards. The only item this will be a problem, in all likelyhood, is cracker, as there is no reason to sell them. Blue shouldn't be more than 1.5b at start.
  14. I don't think so. The GE can still keep working like it does, but the 5% limits will be gone. A whip for instance would still have a med price of 3.4M, but people would be allowed to pay 4M or whatever they want for one. The med price would update every day based on the trades that took place, just like it does now. The GE is designed to work with free trade and it's the trade restrictions that screw it up. I still can't understand how stupid all these people have to be not to understand this(the GE is basically a cheap ripoff of a stock market, not something original designed to work with restrictions). As for what the rare item market will be like- quite like it was before these stupid restrictions- the prices will be ALOT more constant and you'll always be able to buy any of these items. Because they won't have added merchanting value, they will be priced lower than they are now, thus just being status symbols, not a way of keeping street value. The rare items will, in all likelyhood, be sold more often on a market instead of the ge, so that oldschool merchants can make money off buying items cheap and selling them for more. As the pvp items->gold exchange will be stopped gold will be much more valuable that it is now.
  15. What's your evidence to support your statement that bots are still abundant and that botting and rwting is as it was 3 years ago? I have a good amount of inside information about people that make a living selling runescape gp. Obviously it'd be stupid to go into any more detail about this. Another thing is that addition to gold-farming bots, we also have skilling bots nowadays. I have a mate that has 99s in 6 hard skills botted, and hasn't got a black mark for it yet. I've been playing this game long enough and have enough information about botting now and then. If people think botting or rwt-ing will ''return'' they are just stupid, blind or trolling. Meanwhile, going for the positive parts about this update, no newschooler(and we have a bunch of these here) will be whining and crying about merchanters screwing them in the form of junk trading- money will be valuable again. Also, making a good return is the majority of high level content we had- staking and pking. I have atleast 10 friends off the top of my head who will come back for even a while just because of this potential update.
  16. Do you feel like a wuss being pked by another person instead of an npc? Are you blind to the amount of bots we have already? MMG is a business man. For once it's what people alot of people want. The reasons why free trade and wilderness were removed don't apply anymore- botting and rwting is as strong as it was 3 years ago, but only if you open your eyes. Meanwhile, jagex has never recovered from the popularity drop that was caused by the removal of free trade.
  17. There aren't really any good reasons to vote no anyway. For once, jagex is thinking like a business and doing something good.
  18. Sounds good. Just what i've been waiting for for 3 years and ~20 days.
  19. I've gained 3/4ths of my exp in the past 3 years, but I would still being willing to sacrifice it. 28.3m of it since the beginning of the past summer. It's still a loaded question, and if anyone who joined after 2007, they just can't have clear perspective. I'd be losing around 200m total xp if this were to happen.
  20. 07 account, although i don't think it's a fair question. Alot of the users on these forums have gained most of their levels in the last 3 years and don't really know what they are missing. For me, as i haven't played too much after the removal of free trade, it would be great.
  21. Well, i'm failry sure mage bank ~4-5m risk pking would become VERY popular if free trade came back as what people risk would actually be given to you not a level 70 welfare newb. Safe-pvp really isn't a good replacement for real pking.
  22. Registering date really doesn't mean anything if you didn't PK, which is clear from your post as you only represent a skillers point of view(and why wouldn't a pker kill a skiller if they collide?). A pure idiot would be someone skilling in the wilderness not expecting to be attacked(it's not as though revenants ignore skillers, is it?). Pking with free trade was about being skilled, not like it is today. You used to make your own fortune, and pking in expensive gear gave you an advantage, not like nowadays where pking welfare is the way to go and pking in expensive gear means you are disadvantaged.
  23. Judging by your joining date, you haven't really experienced free trade and pking. Someone would need to have started playing at the start of 2006 to really know what it's about, and you might have, but there are ALOT of people out there and here that didn't pk, didn't stake and don't nearly have the capital to afford rare items, thus their opinions are mostly useless(they don't know what we are missing). By your logic, thousands of people quit runescape for no reason at all. Do you really think so?
  24. What Justin said sums up my thoughts. I see no point in changing it because part of the update will only cater for a minority of players anyway. Updates to Runescape should be for the benefit of all, not just a minority. I think these two posts rather show the stupidity of the counterargument. Yes, free trade was removed for a reason, but you really should know what the reason was. Needless to say, the same reasoning, for different reasons, doesn't apply anymore. Thus, logically, being an ineffective method in not achieving what it was supposed to achieve(in the long term) AND losing jagex a big load of customers(of which jagex has never recovered), it is only logical to bring back free trade. Another counterargument is the fact that alot of newschoolers come on the forums to complain about junk trading and calling merchants scammers, which really shows how little they know. Catering to the minorities? The whole removal of free trade was catering for minorities. Bringing it back would be very popular among everyone who experienced it. Most of the people against it are people that never experienced it thus should not even argue. A big part of why the economy is messed up is because of the wilderness system, mostly replacing items with gold(statues).
  25. Jagex did trace unbalanced trades back in rsc and before tradelimits were put up- that's how they caught alot of RWT-ers(but they mostly had a custom of banning buyers not sellers). Nowadays it's actually easier to RWT just because, phantomly, there are no unbalanced trades, so they don't keep track. Assuming free trade was allowed on a few specific servers, they could easily trace unbalanced trades and have a ban from free trade servers as punishment for phony trades.
