  1. How do people take money out irl? Melt pennies to make copper? I can't think of another way... Lrn2economics Just in case you did not know: United States' pennies haven't been made from copper for over half a century. The outer layer is a copper coating but about 98% of the coin is zinc. Can you name a country where coins of a single alloy are in use? If they have copper in them, you can melt them to make copper. As for degrading armor, it's funny how the idea surfaced when barrows was released and even more funnier to see how well it has worked in limiting the use of those items. It's great for those with a clear mind that the new armors degrade in that it limits the demand.
  2. Kramp, that is bs. Even with the prayer drain, divine is still much better(which has statistically been proven time and again). Now, the equity changes somewhat when you consider the new armors meaning brews give more hp, but the fact that you die when you run out of lp but don't die when you run out of prayer is the most important one here. Another factor is that brews drain stats(atleast for some time), but prayer potions don't.
  3. What? Apart from melee being bad and godswords being bad melee weapons, why would 8 godswords be better than 4? Just can't understand the logic behind this, not to mention Nex seems to be a mage, which explains why melee and mage are bad, while range dominates her.
  4. The problem i can see with FFA are the minions. If the killer is based on damage on Nex, but you need to kill minions to kill Nex effectively, the teams wouldn't do very well. I'd still like to see some good solo try.
  5. Are there any FFA teams around? That's where hand cannons could really shine. Also, is there any confirmation that the max hit on nex is 500, no matter what you use/do? In which case, accuracy could become much more important than brute strength.
  6. Thats only in GE. Purple updates more often, since its the lower phat, and as such rises more. Same reason ely would have passed divine had they both continued as they were. I think, looking that only torva legs/plate and the new bow updated of the new items, it's somewhat of proof that the more offers there are in the ge, the more likely the item is to update. Thus, because most people know purple has the lowest street at is easiest to get, there are most max offers for purple, thus it updates more often.
  7. Yeah, that's more of what i'm trying to say. I've never got more than around 820 shots in an hour at frost dragons, so it's likely you'd get even less for Nex, which is why you can't use per hour figure in this occasion. 300-400k an hour seems realistic at nex.
  8. There is still the problem that the figure is per 800 shots, not an hour at nex, also that we have no idea how firemaking level affects the blowup rate, it's not likely the real figures are accurate for either of us, but that the real figure is somewhere between the two, not to mention the fact that hand cannons have dropped in price lately. Blatantly using 600k an hour is BS.
  9. I, too, would have to disagree with your orders of weapons. Obviously, the hand cannon is way too low on the list, with the new bow way too high on the list. I don't really know where you got the 600k/h figure, but it seems too high to me. For frost dragons i've found the cost at around 350k an hour over 10k shots testing, and considering you won't get anywhere near 800 shots per hour at Nex(too many pauses etc), 300k an hour should be a more meaningful number(with 99 fm, obviously). That's really not a ridiculous cost, and consideing chaotics and the new bow will likely degrade quite fast in the boss room(fast hits and many monsters), i'd safely put hand cannon just below ccbow+ely/divine, with the new bow only being better if you don't have ccbow or 99 fm. It's also likely the new bow has a relatively short range(like god bows), while hand cannon has a really long range. Another thing is the notion that void is always best. If you can get your hands on some Pernix, considering the extra healing from brews/unicorn, the added damage of void wouldn't likely be able to match that. As or grimys comments, 33% specrate seems a bit high to me too. With nothing boosting the specrate, the spec of ruby bolts used to be extremely rare(2-3 times per 90 seconds). Should definitely look into it. As for the diamond bolt spec, it seems as though it hits 10% higher and ignores all or most of defense. Another thing i see could be considered is if using SWH spec is worth it or not, and in which situations it is or isn't worth it.
  10. Well...the max mage def in game should be around 232(with full Pernix) so getting over 200 shouldn't be that hard...(201 is max with karils). Yeah but can you get enough melee and range def too to have the others remain unagressive. If you defer from the max mage def setup by switching to onyx ring and bandos boots, you'll have (stab/slash/crush/mage/range/summoning) 221/204/254/225/207/226 equipment defense, and i'm guessing that because there are four monsters they all work based on four different defensive stats(the usual ones and summoning).
  11. Well...the max mage def in game should be around 232(with full Pernix) so getting over 200 shouldn't be that hard...(201 is max with karils).
  12. This makes Torva better than a divine. Damn...228 lp per dose of brew(912 lp per inv slot), 208 lp per healing aura scroll(can use a scroll every 32 seconds with spirit cape). All of the sudden, soloing Nex doesn't look all that hard(added to that, the healing of onyx (e) bolts, and you are practically a tank with divine/Full Pernix there).
  13. It's great that you made the godsword analogy as it damn well describes the new bow. And well, i agree that defense seems pointless unless it's a divine, thus anyone without a divine(most people) will likely be using void and rigour, along with either ccbow(if they have one) or hand cannons(with 99 fm). If the added lp affects brewing/unicorn healing properties, full pernix, divine, ccbow(diamond bolts) and shadow cloak along with (yak to uni)unicorn might become the new staple of elite MH-ing, possibly getting 3-4 kills on 3-5 people teams, or even solo kills. Has anyone tried steel titan on her? if so, how does that work(i'm guessin badly, mostly because she moves around so much)?
  14. So...as we have all seen in videos, range seems to be the consensus best to kill nex(and melee for minions), but we don't yet know what the best equipment for it is... Crossbows seem most common, but hand cannon, too should get consideration with superior damage and range, countered by the ability to use a shield and have a higher range attack bonus(chaotic xbow). Then there is a question if void should be used, or if the superior range attack bonus and life boosting gives Pernix the edge. Another question is what prayerbook should you use. For most ranging purposes, rigour is better for damage, but for high defense, the leeches really shine. If leeches work fully on nex(haven't seen confirmation about full 10% bonus yet), it's likely a another strength vs. accuracy question. Overall, the best setup is likely a good compromise between the two. to sum up: Equipment for ranged strength: Rigour Elite Void range Hand cannon Equipment for ranged accuracy: Leech ranged Pernix (Armadyl) Chaotic crossbow(diamond/rune/ruby bolts) Any sightings about this, anyone?
  15. When barrows armor was released full guthans was around the same price as blue partyhat, not to mention similar comparisons are true for dragon armor(chain), 3rd age armor and spirit shields. It's the numbers that change, but the relative price of the best armor in game has remained similar trough times, and we don't even know how much these new armors will be worth in a while. Just look at dragon med- once highly sought after and extremely rare, now very much a laughable item.
  16. I'm sorry to discuss this here but your post really is a discussion starter so... Expensive is very much subjective, and to be honest, as far as the game has evolved with new moneymaking techniques, 500m isn't considered a ridiculous amount of cash anymore, and i would even go as far as to say that elite players should have a networth of atleast 1b, if not a max pile of cash. For me, the prices seem very reasonable(although i don't see a reason for melee armor to be more expensive than the others, even though it's worse) and in some cases, even cheap. Added to that, the starting price of the armors is completely irrelevant and a right price will be determined by supply and demand after the initial hype dies down. It's a good idea to overprice items at start as a unreasonably high demand will always keep the price really high. As for the defense requirement, it's always a good idea to keep your options open for future updates, which is what they've done here. Barrows armor could have been a level 90 armor at release, but now the low requirement seems more reasonable.
  17. No. It is crossbow speed, therefore it's not the best training weapon. Oh yeah, i forgot that nobody uses crossbows for ranged training <_< It might even be the best ranged weapon for frost dragons, but it all depends on how the price pans out. Well, as extra lp only adds to the unkillability and someone with divine/protection prayers/yak already is unkillable(within a 5 minute timeframe, atleast) it doesn't change much in that perspective(torva is actually quite a bit worse for offensive power). And well, to pay more than a bil to be unkillable(not to mention over 500m risk) sounds fair to me. It's not as though we'll all be seeing these new armors everywhere in the wildy, so the bonus in pvp situations that don't matter is very much fair game.
  18. Is the point of highest level armor always to fix the combat triangle? Judging by the fact that most armor worn previously wasn't the best available(really, how many people use divines?), thus we can safely say elite armor isn't added to fix the combat triangle, it's to give the best of the best something to crave for, too. With the last elite armor coming along with corporal beast(chaotics aren't elite, really), it's long overdue, anyway. And with the possibility of untradeable armor, it should keep the complaints at a low level with how much you have to sacrifice for the armor, and even if you can't wear it, corrupt statius is very nearly as good, with much lower price/requirements. As for the bow, if it is 1m for whatever 10 hours, it would be the best single combat ranged training weapon available.
  19. Wouldn't make sense for you to use them when pking in that case. Likely they will become tradeable again when you repair them to full(as there aren't any degraded versions listed on the ge page). If it is true, it will be very interesting. Another thing to note is that while the mage and range armors are best of their kind, the melee armor isn't(apart from the increased lp limit, they have same def stats and lower str/attack bonuses than stat/vesta).
  20. Ruby specs should make like... 60% of the fight much, much easier right? How come nobody is using it on any of the vids? I have seen a few suspicious 500's I take to have been ruby specs, but there's blood spells all around and I was running cause they wanted to sacrifice me, so I might have been mistaken but I think they were used. Long sentence. Judging by the fact that diamond bolts can hit 500s too, but their spec activates much more frequently and doesn't kill you, ruby bolts aren't any good for this boss. Remember, they hit 1000s on corp, but ranged still stinks.
  21. No, 60k is unrealistic. Atm Vex is doing his 95-99 slayer at just under 40k/hr but he's taking breaks from playing too much by doing dark beasts in Kuradal, for example. He's also averaging like 1k cannonballs/hr including those tasks, lol. I'd say 50k is the highest realistic max but you wouldn't be focusing on effigies with such a list. Well, if you are considering slayer xp rates then you have to add the effigy xp to slayer, thus, at 40k slayer xp normally and an effigy every 100k xp(can be better, but it's a nice number), slayer is around 60k xp an hour in pure xp, much much more if you account for the other skill xp you are getting along the way.
  22. lolol stupid speculation  I didn't even think of that, but really, this is the 3rd best ranged weapon in game, not including pvp weapons....great(atleast we can't say any godsword is the 3rd best of anything).
  23. Making statements based on speculation sure is great! jagex stated that the bow is crossbow speed, so all in there that is speculation is the repair price, thus almost all of it holds up. I'll be VERY surprised if the repair cost is lower than that of chaotic weapons/armor, all of which are level 80 items. I've also already stated these thoughts previously in the BTS update topic, so i don't really see where i'm going off here...
  24. A few things i can see from the information about the update... The bow is terrible. Assuming it has a high repair cost(atleast 2m, rumored to be 5m), it costs more or around the same to use as hand cannon(likely same speed), but you are trading 35 ranged strength bonus for 30 ranged attack bonus... not good. Chaotic xbow+ diamond bolts is also just as good, so i just don't see the point of such a weapon. The armors are all great, fairly priced and likely cost alot to maintain, thus existing armors will still be most efficient for training and general purposes, while these will be the new level for pvp and nex/corp. I'm definitely going to be getting all sets once the initial hype dies down. Nex looks nice, and the fact that there seems to be alot of knowhow to defeating it effectively is a plus. With the soul split on low lp, it damn well insures low level masses are bound to fail, while a small(~4-8) team of maxed people can take it down quite nicely.
  25. You are not really making a case for the greatness of safe pvp here... And well...i'm baffled by people complaining about praying anywhere else than pking- if the fights don't matter, there is no reason to complain, if they do something, so can you.
