Abyssal Demons about to get better?
We don't have any confirmation about the ashed being any good yet, let alone if they are worth much. In all likelihood, as they might/should not be alterable, they'll be slow prayer xp(ecto is still atleast twice as slow as altar, around 4 times slower if the ashes don't stack), as the lowest monster droping the highest level ashes is extremely easy and fast to kill(nechryael, easier to kill than any dragons), they'll likely award similar/lower standard xp than dragon bones, which would put their price at around 2-2.5k each, not enough to make most players care much about them. Greater/lesser demon bones should be comparable to baby dragon ones, which wouldn't make anyone anywhere close to rich. Sorry for being a buzzkill, but i don't see this update having the whole scale impact everyone else sees. 2-2.5k per greater demon will be revolutionary in f2p. Expect god armour to rise if this happens. Can you read? 2-2.5k per nechryael/abyssal demon. Lesser/greater ashes shouldn't be more than 1k. And well, as f2p can too merchant, this isn't even near revolutionary.

Which leech for Frosts?
eagle eye is significantly better in that you get both more kills and don't waste as much pray, so i would definitely suggest switching prayers.

~ Revolution in cooking! 2.3M/XP per hour!
Same. I've had 4 or 5 pairs, all wasted on summers. With this method you can easily get 100m per pair, unlimited amount if you really concentrate, and now because getting brawlers could be much harder, this method can be somewhat compromised.

No you have the opportunity cost wrong. An opportunity cost is the cost of not doing something you could do otherwise. For example, lets say that I have two job opportunities where Job A pays 60k a year, and Job B pays 160k a year. (these would be the accounting profit) But the opportunity cost of taking Job A is the total money made from Job B. So, the economic profit is in fact -100k. Opportunity cost is there for reasonable assumption and things you can foresee/predict. It's just as unreasonable to win 100% of your duels, win the lottery or have an item go up 30%, thus they can be discarded as opportunity cost. With your assumption, you can't make a profit by winning the lottery, but that's just not true(winning the lottery would be 0 profit under that assumption).

One of the most creative guides i've seen, highlighting the new standard for efficient cooking. Very well done, definitely AoW worthy. For brawlers, i think both revenants and the chaos elemental drops them. Revenants aren't very difficult to kill as they are in level 30 wilderness and you can teleport any second, just be safe and watch out for teams/rushers.

accounting profit economic profit Lost stakes aren't economic loss as it isn't reasonable to assume you will win all stakes, just as it's not reasonable to assume that the price of an item will change 30% in a day. This would be comparable to every company always losing money because they didn't find a briefcase filled with cash every second Sunday, or not winning the lottery. Economic profit is also usually based on time, and neither of the in-rs examples take that into account. Talking accounting in the way the OP does is just senseless- he sold his hat for what it was worth, and he had no reasonable assumption the price would go either way in the forthcoming future. It's bogus to say that he lost money just because someone else won the lottery.

Well, in that case, everyone who ever goes to the duel arena can't make a profit. Generally, people account for profit by adding the sums they have earned and discount the money they've lost, but if you account for opportunity cost, you are always stuck for the money you lost, even though you made a huge profit. That's why it really doesn't make any sense to look at profits that way, and be speculative about the future. Does everyone who fights someone with a divine in the wilderness automatically lose 800m? As said, you can't lose what you don't have. Opportunity costs are based on reasonable averages of what is extremely likely to happen. IF the seller was highly aware of the price rise and sold anyway, he would have lost 300m, but as there was no way to predict such market behavior, he got his money's worth.

Considering sol is more than half decent melee weapon, it makes sense. You'd need something atleast twice as good as sol to beat it so... If KS works for full damage, that might work.

The Private Server Syndrome
Only if you can foresee the future. i expected you of all people to know the difference between accounting profit and economic profit. he could not know that he would lose the 300m profit if he sold, but that doesn't change that he still lost it. it is a loss. You can't legally declare potential loss of profit as a loss. It's not a loss because you can't predict the future, thus there is no way to talk about it as a loss. At the time of the same white was worth 1b, and as he sold it for 1b, he got what it was worth. White now and white a day ago are separate items, thus you can't compare then equally. You could go into details how everyone in 01 were complete morons for not selling their hats for max cash in a few years, but it just doesn't make any sense. You don't lose money by selling items for what they are worth, no matter what the future brings for those items, unless you are aware of the change in price. Just remember, you can't lose what you never had.

reread what he wrote he sold his white for ~1b people are buying whites now for ~1.3b Well, he didn't actually lose any money, rather missed out on 300m profit.

If you don't explain this soon, I will consider you a troll. Explain what?

The Private Server Syndrome
I might be slightly wrong, but more than 50% of the people in developed countries work in the tertiary economic sector, meaning that they don't produce anything either, so from that perspective, such a change is smart. It's too bad that you brought out a moneymaker that actually doesn't produce any money(crafting natures), but if you look at the game as a whole, there are very little ways in which you can make alot of cold hard gp an hour. Frost dragon bones don't actually generate any gp, so they are, in a way, similar to merchanting.

01-Feb-2011 - Return of the Wilderness
I'm sorry to question your logic, but i really haven't heard of people taking stakes they know they can't win. Why not just give them the money? And really, i don't think anyone thinks you are stupid, but rather that there are questions about your method of staking being reproducible in the coming weeks/months. Right now, most people there are stupid and don't know what they are doing, but that will all change into where there are very few new people, and everyone already knows your shady tactics/how to counter them.

Yeah, in a real duel, you would never see anyone using anything but the best, and allowing options that they aren't sure about. I haven't seen very many fair fights in the ones he has posted, probably because he has lost all of the ones in which the opponent wasn't a complete [insert very bad word here].

WAIT ONE SECOND WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPEND
It didn't always apply to the other payment methods(like pin, phone, etc), but maybe credit card users. I've never personally used credit cards to pay for members, so this phenom has only bothered me for the last few years, in which i haven't actively been a member, but i'll be sure to abuse the system from now on. To the many saying it's just 50 cents, for some people, members costs up to 25 dollars a month, so don't be stupid and consider just yourself.

Where is the Love for members?
I'm just questioning why people do so and am surprised to find so many free players butt-hurt by such pettiness. I don't see how being a bouncer adds discussion value to the topic.
-
WAIT ONE SECOND WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPEND
Basically that's what you can do, and win an overall 2% off membership, which just doesn't make sense. In the old days, membership used to always be 30 days, no matter what, which would make more sense for players and jagex.
-
WAIT ONE SECOND WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPEND
The real problem is that you can easily abuse the system. If everyone were to cancel their memberships on the 30th and bought it back on the 31st, jagex would lose up to 1% of their total revenue.

Where is the Love for members?
I have never dreamed of respect from f2p. Them hating me is fine by me, as i honestly don't give a damn about them, and am actually surprised if they do. Publicly flaming people is just petty, which just shows which side should be on the top of the food chain.
-
Where is the Love for members?
F2p is treated how it's supposed to. In the ladder of players, they will always be atleast one step behind players that pay. For most anything, if you don't pay, you also don't get to say. That said, free players should be thankful for keeping the game running for them. There are dozens of games in which a free play format doesn't at all exist.

Now What? Bless his grave or get a free 30+m? <FREE TRADE UPDATE>
Is 15 min Nex possible? and DK's can still be a pain if you don't have anyone opening doors.

WAIT ONE SECOND WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPEND
Where is the logic behind giving 31 days of membership one second, 28 days of membership the next second? If you bought a month of membership on the 31st, your membership will last 2-3 days longer than when you would have bought it a day later. Makes no sense.
