  1. They weren't really represented as role models, and i'm in no way for rwting, but they are great examples of the merchant vs. staker discussion. As for people who buy gp, i believe even some skillers going for 200m skills could do it, but mostly it's either smaller distributors or adolescent children trying to boost their confidence. I know of a guy who bought gp recently because he got hacked for his whole bank, so there can be any number of reasons. I also think that it used to be a great move by jagex to ban people who bought gp instead of those who sell, unless they were real big names such as those two examples. I'm interested to find out what their strategy against rwt will be now, as they practically stopped caring about it for 3 years(because of the 'oh rwt couldn't exist' joke).
  2. When you have too much money, it's not hard to see why people would turn to real world trading, and with the relative ease of it, why not? Making 30k dollars just off playing the game is nothing to shy away from. Another thing is, both of those guys made their money legitimately and were at the top of their respectful methods(staking and merchanting).
  3. Lol really? Stakers back in the day were very rich if not the richest.. you might forget that this element of the game has been gone for 3years so of course stakers cant be that rich right now. Give them some time and you will see the big stakers back in business with more money then anyone. Can you make 1b, max cash, party hat set in a matter of a minute merchanting? You are clearly someone who only sees the hype. The difference is, stakers used to always gloat about their profits and banks, and as they lose nearly as much as they win, there is alot of picture material to show, even though it doesn't even equate to profit(you could get a good set of big stake wins while getting cleaned at the arena). Merchants are actually smart and make their money more methodically and never really lose any money they make, thus, from an outsiders view, stakers might seem richer, but in reality, there are many serious merchants around sporting a triple digit billion bank that most people don't even know about. For your oldschool analogy, i'd never seen any staker nearly as rich as duke freedom, even cursed you didn't get close.
  4. I've gone ahead and added a simple disclaimer to the original post for those who can't seem to grasp the concept of the message I am trying to convey here. No one seems to get that I am not blaming the updates for what I have lost money wise (Nor did I ever even say that anywhere originally), I am stating that because of the updates in general, it's hard to go back to what I considered good money, when others are 100xing that in minutes. That's still blaming free trade. You shouldn't even care what others can do as staking is 50/50, pking isn't a major moneymaker and marching didn't become significantly better because of this update.
  5. I don't think you can just bluntly blame free trade for it. If you are that insecure to judge your wealth with the luckiest and the richest, no wonder you can't play the game. It's you, not the game that is being broken. Free trade can't change the way you play if you don't let it.
  6. Most of the easy questions are just reruns of old questions, thus people should atleast make an effort to look something up. There is no reason to ask the question as a first resort, and that's why this topic is here. Is it too much to ask if the people who ask the questions put atleast as much effort in looking something up as the people who answer those questions?
  7. Fixed it. Oh that's just horrible sportsmanship. Newsflash: YOU LOST, get over it. Yeppers -- the massive overwhelming majority of 9.1% has spoken! Woot!!!! So even the tip.it community was wrong when more twice as many people voted for free trade and wilderness than those that voted against? What exactly are you pitching here? Do you have any absolute proof that jagex faked the poll, or, moreover, that more than 50% of players didn't want free trade and wilderness? People wanted free trade, they got it, and are enjoying it. There are loads of people, including me, who have come back to the game for the sole reason of the update, so that's another thing to consider while you are whining that you got yourself scammed/lured(it takes two to tango). Glovnvellius, yes, i do think people learning their lessons on a game is preferable to lessons learned in real like, as the affect should be the same, but most or all of the damage can be avoided. I'm not here to teach those lessons, as i frankly don't care at all about strangers, but i do think it can have a very positive effect on those players. Oh, and did you drop your soap while the showering? sure looks that way.
  8. If that was supposed to rile me up then you are dead wrong. I'm just here to teach some manners to immature adolescent children
  9. Surely you mean more ignorant and arrogant...
  10. The problem with no overloads is that you'll be giving up alot of damage and inventory space, and as magic is already much worse than the other classes, it's not worth it in my mind. I'd rather suggest ranging/meleeing and then bursting/barraging atoll skeles for mage xp.
  11. I would prefer if the people asking questions weren't complete *****s and could do a little research themselves, but what can you do? :shades:
  12. Surprised that scamming, luring, and general douchebaggery become extremely common with free trade? I'm not. I knew this would happen as soon as Jagex announced the poll. Nobody believed me... What's bad here? If you are stupid enough to get lured, you will. If you are stupid enough to get scammed, you will. In real life, actions have consequences, so it's a great way for the players to learn from their mistakes in game. I at least think that all this is great for the game. Botters were around with no free trade, too, so that's nothing new. Fixed it. Oh that's just horrible sportsmanship. Newsflash: YOU LOST, get over it.
  13. The greediness is another factor that used to make MHing hard. It's funny how 3 years of no freedom basically killed everything team oriented in the game(clans, trusting MH teams) and everyone whined for a month how terrible dungeoneering was. Removing CS/LS would, again, encourage joining clans, making trusting friends and teamwork in general. As for the ge, i don't really see it as a problem that the ge isn't up to date on extreme items- after all, we do have free trade now, so all the street-market-ness of it is actually cool.
  14. well he was basically just given 1.3b+ O_o e: i like lending system, i can lend items to friends without them being tempted to steal from me That's exactly the argument against it- it allows you things you would otherwise not be able to do if there was free trade. Oh wait, we do have free trade  How is that an argument against lending... it allows us to do things we were not able to do before free trade was removed. Free trade now =/= free trade then and free trade does not imply no lending in any way. The lending system was supposed to mimic or replace the notion of lending items to your friends before free trade was shot down. However, the lending system really doesn't mimic it very well, most often used to lend items to people you don't even know. Now that free trade is back, there is no reason not to remove the lending system. The same with LS/CS.
  15. well he was basically just given 1.3b+ O_o e: i like lending system, i can lend items to friends without them being tempted to steal from me That's exactly the argument against it- it allows you things you would otherwise not be able to do if there was free trade. 16. Then go to nex with friends(sell and share drops) or FFA. That's the way it's supposed to be. LS is just something i think they should drop as we have free trade back(lending system too, as it's practically only used to be abused).
  17. Yeah, but the problem there is getting people that are willing to obtain large sums of money and then give them to you. The problem with staking is that it's basically all luck. The problem with pking is that it gives no xp and has no guarantees. Merchanting is still easily the best moneymaker, and, make no mistake, even the best of stakers can't reach the mountains of cash merchants have.
  18. Nech are easier to kill than green/blue dragons, but yes, it makes sense for the ashes to be somewhat better than dragon bones, particularly if they can't be altared(and well, those who haven't ectoed themselves, it'd still be MUCH slower xp). I can't see many people collecting these ashes, but it'll definitely make bonecrusher more worthwhile.
  19. I don't think the dungeoneering xp will be much higher if higher at all in p2p(at that level), but if you can get p2p, do it. F2p is extremely dull and disgusting compared to p2p(in terms of gameplay and community).
  20. So if it's new bans, that's basically jagex saying 'hey, we want our share of the rwt profit, too'. But in any case, i can't really blame jagex for this, or infact anything. They brought back free trade, and i'm happy.
  21. It's really not that hard. It's also not hard to become a pker, if you know what that means. Yesterday I was able to kill them very easily with ~300k risk, if i get teamed, glory tele edge, switch servers and back. Yakking the drops insures that you don't lose anything. It's definitely easier than having perfect concentration for more than 10 minutes.
  22. The biggest problem is that the dragons don't have any ranged levels to leech, otherwise curses would be on par with eagle eye with the lowered def and damage from deflect. For mage, curses are likely better than even augury.
  23. xpx replied to Slaykan's topic in Help and Advice
I think it's more or less proven that it's +3 in the level for a specific class and +1 in all melees with controlled. For boxing, accurate and defensive seem most used.
  24. You only need one pair for 200m xp, and as getting the gloves didn't use to be/isn't completely inefficient, it can be more or less discarded. It's definitely more so 2.3m xp an hour than your mousekeys method is 1m+ xp an hour.
  25. By writing this post and not using the time to not buy a lottery ticket, you just lost 50 million dollars. Sarcasm never pays up <_<
