Nex Strategy Discussion
While some of the people talk about FFA and how bad it is, remember, there is no guarantee the drops will be evenly distributed between the killers. Weather you want it or not, some people will be using better gear and strategies, resulting in somewhat higher DPS and a much higher kill rate. Effectively, someone with 10% lower DPS is highly unlikely to get kills, while someone with 10% higher DPS will get alot of kills. This means, in a nutshell, that while the average killrate isn't as good as it can be for small teams, a good FFA fighter could be times more efficient, which is the whole point of it. When i used to do FFA corp i would get a much higher killrate than 1/people there.

Now What? Bless his grave or get a free 30+m? <FREE TRADE UPDATE>
Blessing made MHing too easy to begin with- now that there is legit risk unless you have friends that can help you it brings risk back to where it should have always been. Remember, it's not necessarily a bad thing, in that it keeps the gear people use honest while keeping people unqualified from clogging up MH-ing spots, which in turn lessens crashing. Always remember, as i've said time and again and been called a jerk- never risk more than you can afford to lose. There is no reason to cry when you deal with things intelligently.

Soloing KQ
As i said...someone is ignorant. Solo kills per trip is a great way to show the toughness of bosses as it's proportional to the damage taken. Drops have nothing to do with how hard a boss is(to your barrows reference, although there aren't any bosses is barrows), apart from frequent food drops. Also, as some say they can get 3-4 solo kills per trip on a slayer task, woox has gotten 3,5 solo corp kills in a trip so...

Soloing KQ
How many kills did you get per trip? Don't worry, anything you'll say, he'll disagree. He is ignorant, as we have seen time and again. And yes, the KQ is the third hardest boss in the game, based on how many you can kill in a set amount of time- her ranged and mage attacks ignore defense completely and the different forms have extremely high defense(maul is best against her). Not to mention, she has twice the LP of the four gwd bosses. Not worth it under any circumstance(and i'd know this, i've gotten chain, left half, dragon spear, lava battlestaff and kq head from her, all prior to the items being useless).

Soma, i think you might be forgetting that people in FFA masses use the best equipment out there, thus they wouldn't use any bolts, but rather hand cannons, and as far as i know, hand cannon hits higher(higher average damage) and is naturally more accurate(ignoring verac's spec) than verac's, and because you have near unlimited range, you wouldn't be missing any hits on Nex. If a ranger was smart(and FFA is all about smarts), they would just run around more than they need to without losing combat turns to make melee less effective, thus rendering verac's obsolete. In FFA, everyone is your enemy, there are no teammates.

This. So what, somebody who can't speak from a neutral standpoint has never any right of speaking.. He can't see the two sides of a coin, and always thinks he's best, with zealous ambition.. Really maybe you "believe" in him (like you believe in a religion) - but that doesn't give him any right to speak (just like religion is in no position to speak). I just found somebody who sucks at Nex. Yeah, really, the whole post has nothing to do with stoke(and he is a somewhat weird guy, i admit), rather the topic. The fact that alot of people would turn it around the language he uses and the way he chooses to conduct himself(and beware, he did not post the information himself, likely because he knows of the light-heartedness of skillers forums). Why? Stick to what the topic is about and don't patronize someone for doing nothing wrong(again, he didn't post it here). As for the information he provided, not running around on blood stage seems strange as one person would always need to run while they are marked for sacrifice. His points seem mostly focused on melee, which begs me to ask, is melee(chaotics, primarily) on par with ccbow/hand cannon?

During her last Soul Split phase, Blood forfeit is capped to 300. She can frequently have over 1/4 of her health left if you start off poorly on this phase, too. That's the only phase that you want to use Diamond (e) on rather than Ruby (e). I don't think there is a major difference between ruby and diamond bolts- on the one hand, diamond hits ~2% higher, and the spec seems to work more frequently, on the other hand, ruby bolts spec hits harder, but drains lp and is rarer. It's certainly a matter of prefrance, rather than efficiency with how evenly matched they are, and considering you'd want to carry two types of bolts with ruby(for the cap at low lp), i'd rather go with diamond- more consistent damage.

How do players know how much an item is worth?
Supply and demand, forums. I used to keep all the prices of major items(there were alot less items back then) memorized, and as the prices didn't fluctuate much(coal was 200 ea for years, for example), it wasn't a major problem. If you wanted to buy items in bulk, you'd just add 5-10%, etc. It's actually just the same as street prices right now- look for deals that go trough and figure from there- if torva plate isn't sold for red, but people ask a white for it, you can expect the price to be somewhere between red and white(just an example).

Nex Strategy Discussion
Wait a minute: -At 700k expenses a trip.. With 4 people means the team expenses are 2.4M.. -5 kills a trip, averaging around 300K.. - So you get back 1.5M.. I still see a negative gab of 900k. So to be even non-expensize you should expect around 250Kish special drop. - If all drops have the same rate, you'll be looking at an average value of 95-100m a drop. - This means that to be even "profitable" you'll need to get a drop at least every 100 trips. - Or every 400 kills. And (with the average trip taking 1 hour including getting kill count(?)) to be an effecitve money maker (to make 3M+), you'll need to expect a drop every 100 kills. All this means is that the average price of the special drops will not be 95-100m. I don't think anyone expects them to stay anywhere near their current GE prices- the best armor in the game could easily stabilize at over 500m for the average unique drop when free trade comes out and allows it. The drop rate also does look to be over 1/100 for anything, at least for my clan. We've had torva legs and virtus top and bottom in under 100 I'm pretty sure. It's funny how people only consider common drops, when everyone knows rare drops make most of the profit for boss monsters. Consider that...if all rare drops are 1/400 chance of getting(reasonable guess). At start, the average rare drop is worth 133m(yeah, i calced that), so that said, we can assume 3,33m per Nex from rare drops only. If a team of four can can kill 4 Nex an hour(quite reasonable), that's also around 3m an hour for each of them, not even considering all the rare drops will rise.

10-01-11 God Wars - The Ancient Prison
Except, that, y'know, that would make no sense. Zaros having been a thousand years banished when the Godsword was created and all. Except, ya'know, if they can merge Zaros into the godwars, they can pretty much do anything, no matter how ugly it will be. I bet they could merge the internet into runescape without much of a hassle(playing funorb games on a rs character, ey?).

I thought the same too at first, but watching video, i have to say that they did quite alot of work. So it's impressive. And it took 1 hour to kill the beast, so reps for not giving up. But if Nex wasn't trapped in the way they did, they would get their asses whooooped. The major reason i think it wasn't that impressive is that i think a legit duo might be possible, but they got completely whopped in just one phase. And well, the fact that it took nearly an hour to kill is just funny, as a good 4 man team could probably be much more effective(10 minute kills of 2(3) per trip).

Nex Strategy Discussion
How is it impressive? They are exploting a glitch. I say it's a glitch because if this is how Nex is intended to be killed, then she's easier than Corporeal beast. Yeah, WAY easier than corp. Because a corp duo takes an hour of concentrated clicking and an entire inventory and yak full of brews, plus a huge risk, just for one kill. That video, glitch abuse or not, was damn impressive. I'm sorry, but i honestly can't see anything impressive about bug abuse. Apart from that, it's not as if they were that good at it or needed much skill to do it- the only thing they really needed to do is survive the shadow part, and having achieved that, they just had to sit around and wait- anyone with half a brain can do that. If you know even a bit about Nex strategy(and we have seen loads on this thread), not getting KO-d really isn't that hard(and they only had to survive one of the five stages).

diamond bolt spec
Katori, you can't test against defense or defense bonuses, but you can test against defense max hit. From there, it isn't too hard to figure out which one of them is affected(just need 4 accuracy's- attack max hit nr 1 with and without spec; attack max hit nr 2 with and without spec). From what i've seen, around 100 hits with spec would be enough information to make quite conclusive assumptions based on it. The question is, who gives enough of a damn.

Nex Strategy Discussion
So what you are saying is...gradually taking your armor off and always wielding a CLS is the best strategy? I bet that's what the first person to solo her will do.

diamond bolt spec
Would it be very hard to test it? Just thinking, the max hit with spec to max hit without spec ratio would give us the damage boost, and the accuracy on max range def with lowest range accuracy would give us an estimate of how much range def it ignores- perfect for testing in duel arena. As far as i've seen(and i haven't made any numerical notes, beware), it seems to hit around 10% harder and ignore most of the targets defense against ranged(like max hit of ranged def* 0.1). There seems to be a higher number of hits above 300, but i'm not entirely sure about that.

Super Prayer and Overloads
Not really- with good technique and yak, you can grind 25 bones per trip, 10 trips per yak, so it isn't all that bad. It's cheap herblore xp if you afk the grinding part, and in most cases, the extra cost isn't all that bad- instead of comparing them to prayer potions, you should compare them to super restores, and then you'll find that they are actually much cheaper. I have to admit, i use them on most slayer tasks even, just for the extra convenience(but they are perfect for nex).

But comparing chaotic weaponry to the new armour does not make sense. Using chaotics when cannoning dag kings actually gives you MORE profit per hour because of increased kills per hour than the whip. However this new armour does not increase offensive capabilities at all meaning that you are spending x amount of money for defensive capabilities. It will not give you any more profit than using bandos would, and since you can survive and dks/basically any other boss until you are bored, I see little incentive to use this armour outside of Nex/pvp. I'm fairly sure the new armors will give you more of an edge than divine currently does for alot of bosses, primarily Nex, corp, graar and kril. The fact that brews and uni heals more means you can do much longer trips, and the added defense isn't anything to discount either(almost 1.5 times the stats compared to bandos for torva). What i'm most interested in, however, is how the prices of the relative armors pan out- the mage armor actually looks the best relative to other armors as the second best before it was also degradable- ahrims. Pernix, too, looks extremely good, particularly as it'll likely be the armor to use to kill Nex. Torva, however, doesn't look all that good to me- offensively it's as good as bandos, and there aren't many places where you need the extra healing with melee.

Nex Strategy Discussion
Have you considered that it may be because...you know...20% of any number is not over 500? does make sense to me... And well, SirIzenhime, you might be right, it's just way too often we talk past eachother...

Nex Strategy Discussion
It was implied that the idea of capping it didn't make sense to me. The 500 limit is applied to all hits, the person I answered was using ruby bolts to confirm it. Then asked "why 500?" It's a question. I see nowhere where i say that you think it's a bad idea, rather i'm asking you weather it would be. As for all the hits, as you mentioned corp, corp is capped at 1000, not 500 for ruby bolts, and he was clearly talking about ruby bolts. As far as i can see, capping ruby bolts on high LP bosses is always a separate priority, no matter if anything else is capped aswell. The caps are separate for corp, why wouldn't we see them the same way for Nex? Ask yourself this, if normal damage wasn't capped for Nex, would ruby bolts still be capped?
-
Nex Strategy Discussion
That was my point as well...what are you trying to prove to me here? You said that the damage cap on ruby bolts(as the guy was clearly talking about ruby bolts) was to make Nex harder, however, it's not entirely accurate in that Ruby bolts have always been looked at differently for high LP bosses because of their lethal power. Also, if you didn't say it was a bad idea, why are you arguing about it? I clearly didn't say you did say so, so, what's the problem? Maybe you misunderstood what i wrote, because i definitely didn't put any words in your mouth.

The reason is because jagex is lazy. They copied and pasted several properties from dungeoneering instead of making new, original code. Nex has thunderous' grapple attack. and Kalger's 500 damage cap. Well, i wouldn't be too disappointing to see jagex release several dungeoneering bosses for real rs killing- atleast you are getting new bosses(and hopefully new items, which will likely also be copy-pasted), something we haven't had too many of since... gwd?

Nex Strategy Discussion
I challenge you to find me saying that it's a bad idea without editing it... Don't put.... oh, right. My point was that it's not really meant to make things harder per se, but rather limit an attack that would otherwise be totally lethal to any high-lp-high-def monster. Halving your damage with non-spear weapons and capping the damage at 500 is to make it harder.

General Aversion to Degradation
Firstly, destroying metal coins, atleast in most places, is illegal, secondly, it's not rare that the metal of coins is worth more than the coin itself, and thirdly, it's really not that difficult if done industrially. As for a simple method, try hydrochloric acid- the copper will not react. It's also funny to note that the Estonian crown will be eliminated from use and the metal of coins will be melted and separated into new alloys.

Nex Strategy Discussion
it's kind of corp, just another limit to make it harder Umm, wouldn't it be ridiculously stupid if you'd hit 6000's on Nex and 4000's on corp? I think a limit of 500 per hit makes perfect sense, and it's a nice round number to cap it. For average damage, if your max damage is 640, your average hit on Nex will be 305(down from 320), while your average damage with 500 max hit will be 250, thus the limit isn't all that bad for ranged. For melee, however, maul and cls are very much shafted by it.

Nex Strategy Discussion
I think, looking at the latest vid, it's safe to say there is a 500 lp damage cap on Nex- the team was able to hit above 500 on the minions, but not Nex- only 500s. So, taking this into account, accuracy becomes more important than strength. Sure, the damage cap doesn't mean higher hitting weapons will do less damage than lower hitting weapons, just that there is a steep dropoff in DPS for max hits above 500. This might mean that armadyl is actually better to use than void, or that chaotic crossbow is better to use than hand cannon, purely based on accuracy. The one knock on all this is that range doesn't hit too high anyway- max hit of diamond bots is around 500, while the hand cannon can hit up to 620s. Grimy, do you have any information about this?
