  1. From the sound of it, the new bow won't even be as good as hand cannon, so it might not be that great. The new armor will be interesting, but if it won't have great offensive stats(it may very well be great defensive/ life boosting) it will not be that great. Ofcource, as we will be getting a new boss, all this matters little. Sounds like a great month.
  2. By that logic, there is a big list of great players who were much better skillers and worked much harder for number one before zez ever got the chance to, and him being first for so long doesn't help either(as he is not only recognized by old-school players, but most of the fame is gathered relatively lately). You not knowing those people doesn't mean they didn't exist, but there are atleast 5 legendary number ones before him, just as there has been many after him. Even if you go by the dominance of a number one, zezima wouldn't be on the top of that list, as l6vi was times better for the time he actually played. Learn the history, zezima isn't it(although his consistency really helped in making him legendary). And yes, i don't think someone else quitting makes others better players. I have never heard of a pro-sports player who got into the hall of fame for longevity, while being completely average trough their careers. Is Brett Favre the best QB ever, just because he has the most passing yards(or any other stat, infact)? Is Kareem the best of all time? I'd disagree with both of them. Jebrim, getting skills to 200m was completely unheard of until someone first got there, which wasn't until late 2005. People didn't set goals to get high experience as they thought you could get an infinite amount of xp. Nobody could ever have anticipated skill xp stopping at 200m. The first time ever maxed out all skills(zez, 2 days before the release of farming), it was unheard of and people didn't think many would ever achieve that.
  3. If you knew the circumstances you likely wouldn't say that, unless you think of skiller as a better player for zarfot and gert quitting. I'd bet it's hard to find anyone zezima has ever actually 'outskilled'. Having seen the whole of his number one period, i've never thought of him as a nolifer on an efficient skiller- he was always very consistent in what he was doing and gained the rank that way. The thing with novalyfe proves this most of all(for anyone that doesn't know, nova player for less than 2 years to achieve rank one, while zezima had already played for around 6 years).
  4. Everything in rsc is not oldschool. So i missed by half a year... too bad as i didn't look it up anywhere, further considering that he didn't achieve it because he outskilled anyone(everyone before him just quit).
  5. You can lose chaotic weponary, you can't lose your herblore level. Magic adds to your combat level. As for what i think, having gotten 99 herblore before the removal of wilderness(thus my opinion shouldn't be clouded by having trained herblore just for the potions), i think the potions shouldn't be used in pvp. They add a significant advantage to ones combat ability without differentiating between them, and they would really screw up the balance in pvp. Not allowing them is an easy fix to not killing pvp from the start.
  6. He'd need to outgain skiller by 1.5 times to have a chance so i seriously doubt it. He never truly was that great, just consistent(Nova outgained him in less than half the playing time, for example). I wouldn't also call him a real oldschool number one, as there were many great players much before him, much better(efficient, etc) than him. Oldschool isn't defined just by how efficient one plays, but more factors like popularity, playtime length and perhaps the fact that he was #1 for so long - I'm talking rs2 and not classic. I feel exactly the same as Squisher and Obt: Zarfot was my favourite, but if he doesn't return, Suomi would be my guess. If you think about it, the longer you are the number one, the less likely you are to be considered oldschool. It's true that he is an oldschool skiller, but he didn't achieve rank one until rs2, which really can't be considered oldschool. Being oldschool has nothing to do with popularity, efficiency or anything like that, it's purely about when someone reached number one. As for him having a chance, considering some people are already half there and that zezima isn't an efficient or nolife skiller(he was nothing like zarfot or soumi/drumgun), it's highly unlikely, infact, i'd guess that if he didn't stop playing, he wouldn't be number one today(he was great because of consistency, and nothing else).
  8. If it updates slowly then it updates slowly in both ways so it really doesn't matter in the big picture, or when your smart and trust your teammates slow updates allows you to make more money.
  9. The difference between cannon accuracy with either cls or rapier is hardly noticeable and there hasn't been any real information about this as it's almost impossible to test the difference, and with the introduction of dragon defender cls might be better no more(if it ever was). If cannon accuracy really means that much then you'd want to use maul anyway, but as most cannonable monsters have really low defense already, the extra accuracy makes no difference at all.
  10. I think that's unlikely as it would be very inconvenient to switch between ge and fally. In all likelyhood the market will grow around the ge, just as it's currently(with rare items in the south-west corner).
  11. Laws weren't double their current price (278) at the height of FFL 66 - They were ~300-350. Factoring in the occasional extra laws that can now be crafted, the price isn't really too much lower than it was then... (What you are able to buy with the same amount of money today is a different story, though.) The cost of essence is irrelevant anyway as you give both runes and essence when trading. Law running would be useless as far as it concerns this thread as zmi is better in any way possible. Natures might give slightly higher xp rates with less work, but the major draw should be a new zmi company allowing for up to 100k xp an hour(but it depends largely on your fast clicking ability).
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if they started working on it a few days before posting the first poll- they more or less knew the idea would be a huge hit among players, particularly older ones. Doubt they can manage to get all the details set before new years but 15th of january seems like a nice date.
  13. It might just be that he has bought rares with junk, but that's another story. As far as i know him and have dealt with him, he is a very nice and respectful guy that just enjoys spending most of his time on the rares market. Being rich doesn't make you a bad person, but making unjust bad comments does.
  14. You not being ambitious enough clearly means that others shouldn't do what they like. Good thinking. Not that there is any evidence he is a price manipulator or anything...?
  15. Nobody is forcing anybody to go into the wilderness- it is 100% optional for anyone playing this game. But, if ANYBODY goes into the wilderness, they are automatically dubbed as a pk-er and treated as such, with normally being able to keep 3(4) and having attacked other no(1) items upon death. Yes, cheap kills are part of the wilderness experience, but i don't see why this is a problem- it's perhaps as cheap as going into the wilderness looking to make a fortune by runecrafting/tresure trails. High risk/high reward systems are part of every significant MMORPGs. If anybody knows anything, it's that skillers should be an added part in the wilderness, with a skiller system totally there in the current pvp system(brawling gloves, anyone?). With only pkers, the wilderness would be too sparse and empty, but having skillers forced in there makes the whole experience more fun.
  16. How can you buy stocks on the stock-market? Oh wait...it's easy.
  17. The game was designed this way. Killing other players has nothing to do with bulling, atleast not more than a skiller holding a skilling spot all to himself. If you feel offended by other players doing what they enjoy you should really consider playing another game(atleast as far as pking is considered). No pker makes you play the game his way, it's just that you have to be considerate of other players while you play- it's not a single player game. If you don't like an update- too bad, most of the updates deliver nothing for the pking community. Does it mean pkers should be all against updates for skillers? Ofcource not. The communities need to coexist in a friendly manner, and if one should delve into the othes territory they should be respectful of the rules that dominate there- you can't go into a boxing ring and start landing leg kicks, just as you can't go into the wilderness and expect to be left alone just because. If you don't want to be knocked out by a left hook, don't enter the ring. I don't remember there being any complaints about the wilderness being bad by skillers before the change, so it's the sissy-scape manner we have had for 3 years that has made everyone soft and cuddly. Not everyone enjoys that. That's a really valid point. Just because jagex failed to make revenants dangerous enough doesn't mean that this game shouldn't have free pvp on every server. I'd love it if revenants were even more dangerous than pkers.
  18. I don't think that much is possible at any pace. I remember free-fast laws being 30-50k xp an hour(with different paces) and natures not being higher than 60-70k, even with larryrs extreme company business. You have to consider that zmi can't be done very fast as you get many types of runes, which you have to drop or put up in the trade screen, slowing you down considerably.
  19. You are just another skiller looking at everything from your own point of view. It's clear to see why only bs would come out of your mouth when talking about pkers and pking- afterall, you've clearly never pk-ed. Firstly, it's clearly stated that the wilderness is a dangerous place, if you don't like that, then gtfo and train hunter. If you do decide to go there, you have to accept the rules that come with it, and you are not the king making those rules. Secondly, you can't really judge a pker on how many newbs they kill- They are at his mercy, not the other way around, and being able to do it means he might as well do so as there usually isn't anything to lose, but can be alot to gain(there have been quite a few partyhat pks that way, for example). There is no code of honor killing innocent bystanders. If you go into the wldy, you are there to kill or be killed. Thirdly, as you clearly aren't a pker, i will tell you that restricting pking to a few servers would highly limit pking- soloers need there to be alot of servers and teams would prefer if there was atleast 20 servers to choose from. Real pking can't happen if there are 30 people at every meaningful spot, thus having enough room is crucial. Again, if you can't talk about pking impartially(having experienced it in both ways) there is no reason to post one-sided squabbles. The fact of the matter is- neither bh or pvp worlds have worked, and the wilderness worked. I you don't like it, tough luck, but you'll live. Pkers didn't like neither bh nor pvp, but they lived...
  20. No way. Even a one-item PKer is more dangerous and irritating than a rev. You can EASILY escape ANY rev if you wear black d hides, protect from range and have a forinthery bracelet on with a few sharks in your inv--- revs don't follow very far and PKers do. The only place where revs are any kind of a threat is the Rogue's Castle, and that's only because the Chaos Elemental is nearby and can teleport you backwards. If you know what you are doing and are prepared than neither pkers nor revs should be a problem to escape from(only exception is pk teams in multy, which are rare). Most of the complainers just suck at pvp, which is a fault of their own for not pking... Also, i don't see why we'd need to restrict servers of wilderness- the overwhelming majority of the community is for this update, so the few that aren't shouldn't be a problem with wild on all servers, or atleast their voice isn't loud enough.
  21. PKers are more likely to have multiple accounts than people who are content with their single mains. The only reason that's not obvious to many people in this thread is that said people are blind to opposition. It is unfair but there's little sense trying to talk sense on this subject, and even if I got anyone to agree, it's already been done. Not to bring religion into this (too strongly at any rate), but it looks like a lot of people here who are outspokenly atheist are pointing to the "overwhelming majority" and declaring that because the majority wants this change, it will be good or that it should happen. It just so happens that a majority of the people in the WORLD belong to some sort of religion, so this point is a bit contradictory. To be honest I think you guys (the ones this section is referring to) will blow any which way at any given time to get or support what you want. Real lack of backbone. This really goes for trusting JaGEx or the KB or anything official too. When what JaGEx says is good for you, they're a shining pillar of truth. When what they say goes against what you want, they become some sort of backstabbing corporate monstrosity. I really don't see why some are so excited. Divine is basically buyable in the GE. What other reason did you have need to go through junk trading routes? - Since, as above, you clearly change your tone when it suits you. Back in "the good old days", many of us on this forum still had a lot to do in the game - the game still consisted of many new experiences and fun to be had. Now that a lot of us are maxed combat, have completed all the quests, played all the minigames, explored all of the map, conquered the strongest bosses, the game doesn't seem so bright anymore. Bring back free trade and the Wilderness is not going to bring back those days - those were one-time golden experiences. I like the idea of free trade AND the Grand Exchange, but bringing back the Wilderness in "all of its former glory" is going to poison an already, according to some, failing community, and won't make many hopefuls truly happy. How lovely that you would post something only from a skillers point of view. It really gives your arguments alot of power over the others. If you can't be impartial in your post, don't expect people to rally around your posts. All the points that you made are already cliches in themselves, having been snowballed throughout the thread- PK-ers and merchants are scum that deserve nothing- they benefit from others misery. Added to that, we will have a massive influx of players generally looking to rip others off. Woohoo, nothing new here. Why would a lifetime skiller praise pk-ers as they keep the demand for their products. Why would anyone praise merchants for keeping the market flowing. Why would anyone praise scammers for making you a generally more aware person. Nothing good those people do for the community. It's only fair that the player-killing those against it propose is of non-pker vs. pker, because, ofcource, they know of no other pking. THEY HAVEN'T DONE IT. They may aswell be speaking out of their bottoms, which i don't know for sure they aren't. As for your religious example, it's really about common sense. Do i deny that more people in the world are religious than those that aren't? no. Do i deny that religion can be good? no. But, at the same time, the reasons behind people being religious are very controversial and it's undeniable that religion can be one of the worst things in the world(9/11, anyone?). Most of the people in the world who are classed as religious aren't so because they have weighed all the options and seen the arguments and proof of both sides, it's because they know not to be anything else. They don't find religion, they are born religious, thus their beliefs are not really theirs- corporate brainwashing. For myself, having been born in the least religious country in the world, i can, if i ever choose to, have a clear path to religion should i ever choose to, but seeing as i value logical reasoning above all else, it is highly doubtful. There is also a good correlation between people being highly educated and atheist, so alot of people being religious is not really a meaningful statistic. As for you dismissing why people like the update- maybe you are just looking at it trough your eyes. Keep in mind, your opinion is not more meaningful than anyone elses. For me, i like the update as it will bring back things that i used to like most of all about the game- being part of PK-ing communities, having heated rivalries between clans, having the thrill of beating out someone else and rallying around ourselves when we happened to lose- a real community experience tipit can never provide. Free trade will allow me to buy items that i want without being restricted by stupid rules that are only there because of stupidity. Staking allows you to compete against the best for your hard earned cash, so that will be fun aswell. It's undeniable that there will be ALOT of people who really enjoy that sort of content and that there will be people who will come back just for this update- being impactful, which i haven't found any other recent update to be(even dungeoneering wasn't).
  22. If you know nothing about statistics you might say that it's rigged. If you do it's easy to tell this is all normal.
  23. TBH I prefer a PvP world than the above-said .. simply because during a dagganoth task (for example) there are no people at the lighthouse .. and even if someone comes (with no protection from ranged on) they are pretty much screwed with the cannon in place and the Kurasi in hand :D Unfortunately the feature just wasn't popular enough, although they might implement it in some way in the future(i'd love a pvp world with no death penalty, quite like the staking system was in rsc). I have friends who only trained skills on pvp servers and will highly miss them. Oh well, atleast pking will be BACK.
  24. Makes sense as they'll no longer be the preferred stack of wealth- they'll no longer keep and increase over a long period of time, so, as a symbol of wealth/status, they'll be more accessible.
  25. With free trade giving people the ability to freely transfer wealthy, botting will have a major resurgence because all the RWT companies will redeploy their bots to make GP to sell. You and some other people have it in their minds that the death of runescape is a forgone conclusion now. For me, the way rs had been going, i'd rather have a year of fun than two years of misery. This will give the it back to runescape, the it that made it special in the first place. I hate games of cuddling. I think they have said that if over 5% of the active community cares about something, their opinion should be heard so...maybe 2-4 non free trade/wilderness servers for those nubs? would be respectful enough.
