You can safely get rid of it. If you ever want it back for some reason, just go back to Movario's base and search the waste basket again. It's not used anywhere else.

Why not? I did it just fine at 60 agility. Get your run up to 100% before tackling the handholds and you shouldn't have so much of a problem.

When I did this, sometimes people would deliberately try to kill me before the timer hit 26 to prevent me getting a rank, so you'll need to watch out for that.

Once the cannoneers lose their aggressive status, you can greatly extend your trip by flash praying. Another tip is to kill the ones that are fighting black guard dwarves. This will get you faster kills and make you take less damage.
