I have never seen the small or medium pouch degrade. And as was said earlier, you can easily make a quick trip to the abyss whenever the large pouch degrades.

Have a BOB carry a bunch of stews and super restores so you have them at the altar. You can only have one stew at a time. But having a BOB carry the stew is not a bad idea.
