If you could have...
The potential to do something amazing. Not have something handed to me, but to have it rewarded to me if I work hard enough for it. OH SHI- I already have that, and so does everyone else : All I actually want is the right amount of confidence for each situation I encounter. I.e. if I have to something where it is likely I will fail, I won't get all cocky and fall off a high horse, instead I get bumped off a stool, or just nudged. This is more just to help deal with failure, so that I can get back up right away and find success that much sooner. Not saying that I linger on failures, but it's not like it wouldn't help. Either that or the ability to read minds, just to find out how other people see the world (One thing I've always wondered is whether the colours we see are actually the same colours, i.e. what you would call red is what I would call blue). To people wanting incredible musical talent, it's been proven that music talent is attributed to time spent developing your skills, it is not an innate ability. The only thing that sets musicians aside is their dedication and motivation for making music. I do not have asource, only the word of a high school music teacher.

4Chan
Tentacle. *grabs sick bag* [/hide]I agree with urbest... /d/ and /hc/ are disgusting, /y/ is vile, /gif/ is vile. /u/ can be a bit, 'errm', but not as much as the other boards. And tentacle is far from the worst thing you'll see on 4chan. Far. The worst thing I have ever seen on 4chan is a gore thread on /b/, and I consider myself one of those people who are generally unaffected by pictures like those. About halfway through the thread I realized I should get away while I still had my dinner in my stomach. No matter what you say, /b/ is by far the worst board, simply because ANYTHING can appear on it. Atleast in the other boards you get what you are expecting, save for the odd idiot looking for a ban. What's worse, going to a funeral home and seeing a corpse, or walking down the street and seeing an identical corpse on the sidewalk? If you go into whatever themed board and see the theme, you should be fine with it. After all, you went into it knowing what the theme is. With /b/ however, there is no theme. Sure, you can try and prepare yourself for everything, but it's a hell of a lot easier to prepare yourself for one thing than it is to do the same for everything. /gif/ is the exception to this, because I have never seen anything on it that I consider disgusting, save for shock-GIF's or whatever you want to call them. I'm not saying you can't have your opinions of the different boards on 4chan, just don't come complaining to me when a picture on 4chan makes you puke when you're expecting that picture. /know-it-all, because I really don't think I spend enough time on 4chan to tell you what is disgusting and what isn't. I haven't even visted half the boards.

Some uber news(page 3.Last post.Pictures)
You heard the man (Sorry if you aren't), get with the baby-making :D But really, pregnancy must suck. First, you find out you have a baby. Then you have to wait months to have the baby (Which must be frustrating at times). Thirdly, getting the baby out :| And I didn't even mention the apparent side-effects of pregnancy. I have great respect for mothers, especially my own. Granted, there is a difference between respect and obedience :uhh:

So it's summer (In NA atleast)
Awwww, you got out a few weeks earlier than me. But when do your holidays end?

Some uber news(page 3.Last post.Pictures)
- So it's summer (In NA atleast)
I'm surprised no one made this already. Well, it's summer here in Canada, and I think in the US too. In a month, or already, it's going to be summer vacation time. What is everyone doing/planning to do? What have you done? Anything special about this summer? How has your summer been? If you're Aussie, what did you do last summer/winter break? Basically, just general summer holiday stories. My summer so far has been great. I've chilled with friends, gone up to a friend's cottage, gone up to my cottage, played a rugby game, gone to rugby practice, worked, and then a bunch of random stuff. Also, I've decided to ask out a girl I've been considering to ask out (Unfortunately, I don't have her phone number, she is rarely on Msn during the summer, and I don't live near her, and I'm not going to ask friends for her phone number because I don't want my friends to get curious, and I just don't like the phone). I plan on going to a few movies, renting a few movies, renting a few games, going up to my cottage a couple more times, playing a few more rugby games, hanging out with friends a lot more than last summer, trying as hard as possible not to resort to Runescape for releiving boredom, and just staying busy the rest of the summer. The only problem for the immediate future is that I am working for my dad's friend (Friend is a general contractor) and I don't want to quit until th job I'm currently doing is over. The pay is pretty good ($10/hour) and I'm working for 9 hours a day. The only problem is that because we're near the end of the job, I end up doing clean up, which is annoying work. Also, by the time I get home (I work from 8 am to 5 pm) most of my friends have found something to do/I'm too lazy to organize anything. The reason I don't want to quit is because I work for this guy at the start of each summer so I can get enough money ($200-300) to last me until Christmas/my birthday. On top of that, me and a few friends are probably going to be getting a season pass each for skiing/snowboarding, which is $375/$445, depending on when we get it. This means that I need about $400 left over from the summer to buy one, unless me and my other friend can't get people to carpool. If I can't afford one I can always just try and get a volunteering placement at the resort, pending they do offer that. On that note, I should get my mandatory (for high school diploma) 40 hours of volunteer hours done soon. Looks like I have a potentially busy summer ahead of me. This might just be awesome.- ok how many partners is it ok to have {no mature content}
Many people who no longer believe in religions now get married at the registry office, that's how it's mostly done in Ireland anyway, no religion involved at all throughout the whole ceremony, the vows are made and the agreement etc, they're pronounced married. That's it pretty much. If your partner does actually love you then she /he should accept your want to not have to adhere to a religion. Here's my dilema. I'd the whole ceremony thing, big spectacle, but without the religion. And we all have our own preferences. If the other person has there preferences towards a religious ceremony, I will agree to it, unless they insist we go with non-religion because it's what I prefer. I prefer, not want. I'm agnostic, so it's not like it would offend me to be married religiously, I would just prefer a more neutral ceremony. Or atleast a tone-down on the religion. And don't pull out the "If he/she loves you then she will do it" line. Love is about always enjoying eachother's company, not about compromise. It's just a bit hard to do one without the other. I'm willing to compromise because I will love the other person, I don't expect them to do the same, but it would be nice if they did.- Justified Number of Refills
If it says free refills, I will take as many as I like. If it is self-serve for drinks, I will assume that it is free refills, unless it is outright stated. If it is called an "all you can eat buffet" I will eat all I can. If i get kicked out for doing so, and they say that is the reason, I will complain. If I particularly feel like being a [bleep], I will sue them, on the grounds of false advertising. They say I can eat all I can, yet I get kicked out for doing so. Restaurants need to realize that if someone is told they can take advantage of an offer, they will, pending morals/ethics. nah, take a 10 gallon igloo jug, buy a small drink from the place, fill it up AND the jug :lol: . if it is out of sprite, then fill with sierra mist pepsi/coke. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: The only way to aoid legally being thrown out would be to use the cup to fill up the jug. I.e., fill up the cup, empty it into the jug, repeat. Or you could just keep your cup and use it the next time.- ok how many partners is it ok to have {no mature content}
I couldn't care about multiple partners, one night stands, or anything else really. They all have their risks, mainly STD's, jealousy, and reputation. Do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't affect me or anyone else I care about. Side-note: I love of the idea of marriage, and absolutely hate the process of marriage. Or atleast the fact that it is all about religion these days. I mean, when I get older and want to be married or whatever you want to call, I would rather have as little religion involved as possible. That is pending that my partner doesn't care/agrees with me. I am willing to bear through it if my partner wants it a certain way I don't agree with. It's the thought that counts, after all.- Your Weird Habits
Habits: Nail biting That skin just before you nails biting When I am day-dreaming/ or whatever you want to call it, and I'm alone, I'll pretend my right hand (Shaped as if I'm holding a 4-6 inch diameter ball) is someone's face (Thumb is jawline, spaces inbetween middle 3 fingers are eyes) I have a feeling I have a slight OCD when it comes to tapping and such When typing, I tend to think ahead of what I type, meaning that I often leave out words/combine two words because the first ends with the same letter as the second ends. Post-dinner edit: Whenever I drink from a glass, I wipe off where the part of the glass where my mouth was, usually with some part of my thumb If I make a mistake and I notice it right away, I just delete everything after the mistake, because I'm too lazy to reach for the mouse, and Runescape I crack: [*:3avzelsb]Jaw [*:3avzelsb]Neck [*:3avzelsb]Back [*:3avzelsb]Fingers [*:3avzelsb]Toes [*:3avzelsb]Ankles [*:3avzelsb]wrists I drum with my fingers when I have a song stuck in my head, despite the fact that I don't play the drums (Although a wish I did) When I'm walking on a sidewalk, I will avoid stepping on cracks, unless I catch myself doing it When I'm in a car, looking out the window, and I can see the curb of the street, I imagine a snowboarder/skiier/skatboarder going along and jumping off the sloped parts of the curb where a driveway is. I will often put my big toe behind the one beside it, then put it in front, repeating that constantly when I am not wearing shoes Doodling, although there will always be a pattern to my doodling When I can see a certain vein/artery that is on my left forearm, I will poke it. I now find that I am constantly stretching my back/neck by putting my chin down and as far in as I can. Doing just that stretching almost you entire back. If I have food stuck in my teeth, I will use my tongue to try and get it out, and only my tongue. I listen to music whenever I get the chance, which means I am listening to music for about 3/4 of my day (sleep is counted in that day) Sometimes I will quiver my jaw so that my teeth chatter. I like sighing, I do it often. I chew on almost any plastic I have. When I eat a muffin/cupcake, I will eat the paper cup thing. For the first 30 seconds or so it's like muffin-flavoured gum, very good. After that though, it just tastes like paper, but I will just keep chewing it. I use my teeth quite often to pulling things out of other things. This resulted in me chipping my tooth after trying to get a screwdriver attatchment from holes in the screwdriver meant for the attatchments. I randomly make clucking noises with my tongue when there is silence. The best answer to any question is purple. The day after we have a fire up at my cottage, I will try to light another fire using any coals I find untouched by water (We dump buckets of water on the fire to put it out). Any chance I get to start a fire without being detected, I take. I feel the caluses on my hands from hockey and such. If I wake up before my alarm goes off, I will lie in bed until it does. If my alarm wakes me up, I will reset it so that it will go off in another 10-15 minutes, then go back to bed. When I played Runescape, I would often forget I'm playing when I started reading TIF/tip.it main site. I whistle and hum at the same time to make this pretty cool noise. This is in silences. Whenever I hear the whistling intro to Civil War -Guns & Roses, I can't help but whistle along. For some reason, whenever I take a crap, I daydream of Halo, despite the fact that I rarely play Xbox, let alone Halo. Holy habits Batman!- Coke vs Pepsi
Barq's sucks the [wagon], how could you possibly like that more than Mug or A&W? Root beer is what I really like, and Barq's is the only stuff I can get from restaurants because I don't even know if there's an A&W near me. Basically, I just like Root beer over any pop, but Barq's takes the best brand because of availability. Also, I can't really tell the difference between them, other than that Barq's has a sharper taste which I like.- Coke vs Pepsi
I would have said Coke over Pepsi a few weeks ago, but I found that since I've drunk almost entirely Coke up until now, I'm getting tired of the taste. That said, I now like Pepsi more, just because it is a change for my taste buds. However, I would prefer Barq's Root beer over any other pop, and a nice good beer over any other drink. If you say water should be my favourite drink, water isn't a drink, it's a necessity. I definitely agree with the teeth rot. My teeth always feel horrible after I drink Coke, and it makes me want to brush them (Although apparently that's bad for your teeth). Just a side thought, but does anyone else like the taste of toothpaste? I use regular Colgate, and I don't mean straight toothpaste, I mean you brush your teeth and like the taste. I guess it's the peppermint/spearmint flavour (Is there a difference?)- Intelligent people = 'less likely to believe in God'
The way I see how this would work is that there are two thresholds of curiosity/intelligence. Inbetween, you investigate theism and science enough to come to the conclusion that theism is illogical and science is the better answer. Below the thresholds, you don't bother investigating and questioning what others tell you. Above the thresholds, you have delved far enough into understanding the workings of the universe that you realize theism is actually the most practical and better answer. Of course, what you think is going to be affected by your interests and possibly surroundings. The average curiosity/intelligence (What is intelligence anyways?) of a human being is also rising, and is now moving inbetween these thresholds. Of course the general consensus will slowly move towards science. Please note that everything I say in this post is based on my experience, so this is about as credible as a Wikipedia article. Another explanation of this is that as scientists hae a better understanding of our universe, they pass that knowledge down, meaning that there is an ever-growing amount of evidence against theism, and for science. Or it could just be our dependence on technology. I am agnostic, I do not believe any religion to be true, but I also believe that if you try to explain the universe using logic, you only end up confusing yourself and wasting your time. My best explanation of the universe is that time is infinite, matter is finite, so there has always been matter, it was not created in an explosion of nothing. That explosion of "nothing" was actually just some diety, who is not almighty, all-powerful, and omni-potent, bending a few laws of physics to make a blackhole that consisted of all matter that exists. everything down to electrons exist, but quarks or anything smaller do not. This is because it has not been proven to me that quarks exist. Only atoms/electrons. Most other laws of physics apply. There are no vibrating strings of energy that make up everything, there are no gravitons, everything exists just because it does and someone or something, or maybe even everything, said it does. It's like a giant game made by billions of different kids working together. They make rule after rule after rule until sometimes they forgot a few. The universe exists. I don't know why, I don't care how, and I'm going to leave it that way.- Halos over:What will take Halo's place?
The thing people don't get is that Halo is more diverse than just a "shooter" You can't compare Halo to those games, because Halo is more than just about shooting the crap out of each other. There's the various achievements, forge, custom games, theatre, etc. that makes it more varied. Not to mention the streamlined online connectivity not just for you, but your friends also. OT: I just got lieutenant rank LOL. finally, those "why aren't you a lieutenant" cracks will stop =What I said in a few sentences Halo 3 is all about what a game should be: having fun with friends. I'm not saying it's wrong to have fun by yourself, but having fun with someone else opens up opportunities to have more fun with your friends (Inside jokes, and such). Basically, I think that games should be a social experience, where you are able to show other players who you are. In COD4, I barely ever hear people talking, and I rarely talk because of how serious the atmosphere is in the game lobbies and throughout playing. Inversely, Halo 3 has such an unrealistic atmosphere that I can't help but talk to the other players. Off-Topic: I love wireless controller+headset, it's like a phone with multiple lines that my sister can't be constantly using. Plus it is fairly hands-free (Just put the controller in my pocket). Back to Halo :ugeek: COD4 is the best gameplay I've ever experienced (Because I don't play PC games), Halo is the best online gameplay I've ever experienced. 'Nuff said.- Halos over:What will take Halo's place?
Id say yeah but we need Andrew and I owe a guy from before knowing homer wants so sorry homer. ;) Would that Andrew be me :roll: I'm always up for some Legendary campaign with friends, it's my favourite part about the game, next to messing around in Rocket Race/Custom Games with friends. I just wish they had in-game achievements, like and increase in the score you need to get for the meta-game (i.e. 30,000 points for Step II instead of just the 15,000 for the Live achievement). It would be a cool way to introduce more armour permutations. Most annoying achievement to get = We're in for some chop This is based mostly around luck for me, because it's freaking hard to kill a chopper with a trip-mine (This is the easiest way to do it, on Tsavo Highway) Three quarters the time you either release it too late, too early so that the chopper actually realizes it's there and avoids it, or the chopper manages to survive. Then it's a hike back to the turret to get another trip-mine. Now for a rant, still on the topic of trip-mines ;) THE TRIP MINES IN THE BETA WERE WAY BETTER THAN THEY ARE NOW. I mean, those things were like magnetic Frisbees. You go off a grav-lift in Valhalla, throw one, and it attaches itself to that Banshee that was terrorizing your team. A few seconds later, BOOM. Or you throw it on a warthog so that it stays underneath and hidden. Next thing you know, a minute later you get a triple kill out of nowhere, or a triple betrayal, getting you booted. ON-TOPIC: Halo 3 will not be taken over, because I have not seen anything Sci-Fi Multiplayer FPS that matches up to it. Granted, there are multiplayer FPS's that blow it out of the water (COD4), single player Sci-Fi FPS's that do the same (Bioshock, Halflife), but there is nothing like Halo, with it's history, community, and fanbase that outdoes it. Oh, and the screaming 12-year olds on Xbox Live are not the fanbase or community, they are the players. Fanbase means that they actually played Halo:CE, not that they bought it cause people said it was good. Community means that they actually talk to other people about, discuss strategy, take their time to Forge maps, create game types, and actually appreciate the others around them. I admit, I am a bit of a fanboy, I mean, I was really hyped for the launch, especially after seeing how good the Beta was. At first I found no problem with the game. I loved the campaign, I loved multiplayer, I eventually found a love for Forge. Then I began seeing the faults, after a few months. The melee system could use a few tweaks, and even after those it still does (Instead of having double-beat downs when there is no significant winner, why not make it a stale-mate, like with swords or hammers [And with hammers, I do not think they applied the tweaks, because they worked off the same system, and by this I mean the actual attack, no melee]), needlers are still over powered, match people with the same connection speed together, not a group of well-connected players with a single person who uses the wireless adapter, there is no point of ranked, why bother? I always thought this game was rated mature for a reason, to keep out the annoying little kids (I have no problems with the little kids who are actually mature), I don't care if you're a girl, lets just play and have fun (So far there has only been one girl gamer I've met, the ones who actually felt the need to point it out, that I actually liked), why does Forge not have a 90-degree/exact angle tool? Why is it so easy to glitch a box through the floor when you aren't trying to do so? Why, why, why? Despite all of these, I still prefer Halo 3 multiplayer to COD4 multiplayer when it comes to playing with friends. COD4's seriousness is what makes it a good game, but at the same time Halo 3's "do anything" attitude makes it a great game. The best comparison I can give is WoW versus Runescape. WoW is obviously the better game, but Runescape gives you much more freedom than WoW, where most of the game is about fighting. In Halo, you can do more than just killing, although that is a main thing. You can have variations of standard games, like Cop and Robbers being varied from Zombies (A nice laid-back game type coming from an often hectic one), Racing from Escort or King of the Hill, and then there's the very creative game types, like Urban Freeflow (A VERY hard obstacle course) and I've played an attempt at Duck Hunter. Basically, if you're going by serious, hardcore gaming for an FPS, stick with COD for taking up Halo's mantle (Or more, looting it from Halo's burning house), but if you want a game with incredible free, I haven't seen any FPS to beat Halo.- Zombie Breakout: one weapon, one song, one companion
Weapon: Hand Grenade Song: Bob Marley - Everything's Going to be Alright Ally: Robert Neville Give Robert the grenade, hide in a safe with the antidote, wait until day break. He knows what to do. Or, if they are the stereotypical zombies, Weapon: That sword made of flames that Rand usually uses in the book series "The Wheel of Time" Song: Muse - Time is Running Out Ally: Rand, assuming that the mall is not located in a stedding (This is the Rand from at least the 7th book). If it is, then I want the pyro guy from X-Men 3. On second thought, the only thing worse than a zombie horde is a zombie horde that is on fire. I'll take Ice Man then, or whatever Bobby is called from X-Men 3. What to do? With Rand, he will just completely obliterate all the zombies, problem solved. With Bobby/Iceman, he just makes himself ice and runs around killing everyone while I take up a defensive position. Thankfully zombies can't bite into ice to infect him.- Avatar Picture URL Problems

Who are you talking to?- flying, which would you prefer?
I would choose wings, especially if I could become a bird, more specifically a perigrine falcon. Seriously, I would love to be one of those. Fastest living thing on the planet, be able to fly, AND one of the top predators? Hell yeah. Really this is only because of the book "My Side of the Mountain" by Jean Craighead George. The levitation to me would just feel awkward. I mean, if I'm going to fly and I have the choice, I'd prefer that it looks more natural, rather than me just floating by. Wings>Nothing- Avatar Picture URL Problems
Hi, I am trying to take this picture: http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee169/aquariusman/rugbycrop.jpg?t=1214451198 Or this, resized to 100x100 pixels http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee169/aquariusman/rugbycrop100x100.jpg?t=1214453339 And make it my avatar. The only problem is that whenever I put the URL in the field for pictures, I am told that the URL is invalid, despite working in my browser, and as you can see here. Any solutions other than using a different hosting site? I am uploading again right now. Thanks in advance. P.S. Could my problem be that the image is slightly too big? -No, resized and re-uploaded, still have the same problem. Also, the file sizes are at most 1/4 of the limit.- Real life pictures - 3
[hide=] [/hide] Posted an avvy-sized version, that I may use (Already using for MSN) here to finally replace my old one that I cba to put up on photobucket, to show who I am :D In case you're wondering and can't tell, I'm playing rugby. I have a feeling we're getting ready for a line-out, but y'never know :roll: I am 15 and 6'3" (I know I am atleast 6'2", but it's been a while since I last measured). And I never knew Tip.it had so many beautiful women And Laura, from that one picture you were using as an avatar for a while, I would have sworn you were atleast 17, closer to 20. From these pictures, I'm dropping that by a couple of years to my age, give or take a year.- "The Grid", What are your thoughts?
To me, the gist of the article is that they're basically trying to make one giant computer by combining as many computers as they can, using the Internet, and then selling that processing power? That seems good in theory, especially since nowadays computers are being built with more RAM/higher CPU speeds than is necessary all the time. That being said, People will also be needing more RAM and higher CPU speeds than they have, so I think you will get at best slightly above average computer processing speeds. The problem with this is that you are just creating a giant computer, and you can basically treat each computer connected to The Grid as a process of that computer. At the same time, each computer acts as a stick of RAM for The Grid. I'm just going to go ahead and assume that the CPU power you contribute will be what you aren't using. This depends too much on everyone on The Grid leaving their computers at an idle most of the time. Not only that, but you will be constantly using your computer at full speed, or at least whatever speed is allowed by your system settings. This could result in overheating more often, and going through parts faster because they are in use so much. The commercial use needs to be very well implemented to be practical, AKA studies into the average spare processing power of a computer (If it's negative, means that you'd be borrowing processing power). Then, if there is a good average surplus of processing power, (I'm guessing good would be equivalent to adding a 1GB stick of DDR2 RAM to your computer) then it might be profitable. I'd say that 1GB RAM equivalent of extra power would be a reasonable estimate. How to charge for this would be a rate for however many processes that are completed. You get charged whenever your computer reaches it's limit and needs a little extra power to work at the programs best. You could just press (Or click) a button to increase your supply of peer-supplied processing power. When you do not need any extra processing power, and you have some spare juice, you get a credit towards how much you contribute. Again, you could control how much you share, and whether you share period. Implementation is key with this though, along with research. Shared processing power is no good if there is no extra power out there. I do like the idea of a grid of computers being used for the scientific community. Basically, instead of building a supercomputer, why not rent the spare processing power of a few thousand (Or hundred thousand) to get the job done? We could make some money, and the end-users in the scientific community could save some. The only problem would be security, because you're connecting a content-sensitive computer to the Internet, telling people about, and then connecting to complete strangers, while sending their computer data. Would be quite easy to slip in some misinformation or a virus. This could kind of be like powering a water wheel. Whenever you need it to go faster, you could always divert part of a river to add to the flow. Of course, you have to make sure the water you're getting isn't full of debris, or else that water wheel of yours is in for some trouble.- Canceled - Please Lock.
Or just say each week like everyone else ... And dates will only get moved if enough people ask. I plan on being in more events than not, unless I do end up going to my cottage a lot, which means that it will be easier for you (and me) to just leave me up there unless told otherwise. Not to sound snobby or anything.- Canceled - Please Lock.
When in custom games, press X. This lets you change the game settings, like respawn times, abilities on respawn, how long those last (Or whether they exist) starting weapons, weapons on map, damage settings, etc. There are a whole lot of things you can change. In case you've wondered how to "customize" the custom power-ups, this is where you do that. There should be an option to save the game settings. Now quickly, anyone up for a game of Halo? Don't care if it's MatchMaking, custom or Forge, I just want to play.- What do YOU think is the best console/platform?
*Shows how little of my post you read. -.- I said it would be a lot easier, not that I couldn't see what you added #-o Thanks for changing your post though. - So it's summer (In NA atleast)
