  1. Unless you can pull off something big, and she's the kind of girl that would enjoy it (Some might just find it embarrassing rather than flattering), just ask her. If she wants to go to prom with you, you won't need to be extravagant or creative, she'll say yes.
  2. Spontaneous runs are the best. Once my ankle heals after twisting it last week in rugby, I've decided I'm going for a run at least 4 times a week, aiming for once a day.
  3. I have to agree with romy, I don't think dancing matters in any way at all. Maybe people will judge you, but at best they'll just be like "Yeah, he can't dance." The only time dancing makes an impression on people is if you do an extremely eccentric and just plain weird dance, or you're a very good dancer. So basically, go on and dance, have fun with it. No matter how good you are at dancing, it's always fun. Bad dancing is something you laugh at, even the person doing the dance laughs at it. The only thing you need though is Confidence
  4. I have about $70 in gift cards to spend at Chapters/Indigo, any suggestions on books to read? I feel like reading "classics" at the moment, but couldn't really decide on what to get, other than Frankenstein (One of my favourite books).
  5. One thing I think you need to do is be interested in girls for who they are, not what they look like. You might stumble across the rare girl that is a stunner and has the personality that meshes with yours perfectly, but you're 13, that isn't very likely. Focus on personality, it's more important in the long run.
  6. Anything that gets your heart rate in the right zone. That's all that matters, your heart rate. However, depending on why you are doing the cardio, you should choose a certain activity.
  7. There's a difference between a celebratory cigar and smoking. A huge one. One cigar is not going to hinder your overall ability in the slightest, or at least not to a noticeable degree. Stop acting like a cigar is such a big difference, especially after such a huge win.
  8. At the moment I'm aiming for 1-2 minutes. If my muscles feel really weak before the next set, I'll give them more time to recover. I try to reduce my recovery time to the bare minimum.
  9. So let me get this straight. You're finally over her, and now it seems like you two are going to end up being really close friends?
  10. 190lbs... maybe given use of an environment of my choosing, I could win. For instance, a hockey rink + skates (However not allowed to use them as an actual weapon). I would definitely win, gain speed, circle, then dart through and strike. Any around 200lbs I can knock over, and eventually I would get in position that I could grab it in the right way. Plus, as far as I know, no animal around 200lbs has anything other than a nasty bite. Tackle with shoulder into the bottom of the jaw, pick up, slam repeatedly. Eventually, animal succumbs to concussion/broken ribs/crushed larynx.

    Diabetes

Aren't diabetics meant to stay away from sugar? Or at least a high amount of sugar? That 6L of sugar-rich cola may well be the reason you pee so much. Why not just go with water?
  12. I'm just going to go a head and ask a few questions about form, and maybe about what I could do at home with what I have. First of all, for bench press and tricep bench press, where along my body should the bar be lined up when lifting? I'm kind of just assuming it's my nipples for both, but I'm just not sure. Now, the second part. I have: Bench 15lb. bar 4 x 15lb. weights 4 x 10lb. weights 2 x 8lb. weights 2 x 5lb. weights 2 x 2.5lb. weights Basically, I'm just wondering what muscle groups I can work. My school does allow access to our "full" weight room 2-3 days a week at lunch, however that is only an hour, and I think I may need more than that. I pretty much plan on following Starting Strength. I think that I'll just be leaving dead lifts/bench press until last, so that if I don't have time for them, I can still do them at home. So maybe I've already got things figured out, but it wouldn't hurt to know what else I can do with what I've got.
  13. Anyone know if there is anywhere I might be able to watch the opening ceremonies? I missed them for a concert.
  14. My opinion on whether reproduction is selfish? You can't say whether having a kid is bad for the world or not. That's like saying that Hitler's mother is a horrible person for giving birth to him, even though she could not have known what he would do. On the opposite side, what if Gandhi's mother chose not to have children? Who the child turns out to be is completely up to how the child is raised and the child itself. [hide=Long-winded analogy] Now, as for overpopulation, I personally think that there IS a point where the Earth's resources won't be able to support the human population. I mean, say you grow your pet's food. You can grow enough food to feed 2 animals very well, 5 animals at a normal level, and just barely enough that 7 animals can survive, but their survival will be a very meager one. Now, let's also say you can control your pet's reproduction. Are you just going to let your pets reproduce wildly, or are you going to make sure they do so at a controlled rate, so that they will always have food? Of course, if you have any insight, you are going to control how they reproduce. Ideally, you'll keep the population as close to 2 as possible, 1 male, 1 female. Maybe 2 of each just in case one of them dies. The point is, if you let your pets reproduce as much as they want, they're all going to starve, or you'll have to choose which ones die. Now, if you do that, then you've just gone and wasted all the food that went into that pet. Also, if you have 5 animals, you can't feed all of them as if there were only 2, you wouldn't have the resources. Basically, overpopulation isn't just overpopulation. It's also greed. You can go with having 5 animals, and be perfectly fine if you don't over do it on the feeding. You can also go with 2, and be more lenient on feeding. But if you have 7, you're going to be pushing it. Same deal if you have 5, but feed them too much, it's just not going to work. You need moderate both population AND feeding.[/hide] So pretty much, I'd say that "overpopulation" isn't just having too high of a population, it's not matching you population to your resource usage, and vice-versa. AKA developed nations are greedy. And I intend on having kids when I think I will be happy doing so*. That isn't right now, that isn't for a couple years, but I don't plan on waiting too long, I want to be able to teach my kids rugby, and play hockey with them, and run with them. I'm not all up for the whole kids beating their parents at sports, or at least not until they're in high school. *Just like everything in my life, I'm only going to do something if I'm happier doing it/I will be happier. This could be called selfish, but I'm not the kind of person who can be happy knowing my actions make others unhappy. Also, "happy" is such a funny sounding word, isn't it?
  15. If they couldn't put on a proper show, especially for something as big as the Super Bowl halftime show, then they shouldn't have played, and let another artist done their thing. I mean, they're a great band, and by no means was that a bad show, but they just didn't live up to the standards of a Super Bowl halftime show.
  16. At least in Toronto, you can have: Jr. Elementary, K-6 Sr. Elementary, 7-8 High School, 9-12 Sometimes you can have an entire school just K-8, if the area doesn't have a large population.
  17. Eat your words. And don't forget to give some to your new unicorn friend.
  18. I'll take that bet. Of course the avatar has to be within forum rules. If the Saints win: http://pics.mediaplazza.com/t_24/64x64/823_unicorn_fiolet_600x600.gif
  19. I like to think I'll do something when a situation arises like that. Whether it is simply calling the cops or even going so far as to confront the attacker/help the victim. Of course I can never be sure what I'm going to do in extreme situations, but I've found that I'm willing to enter a conflict in order to end it. Thankfully, I'm a big guy, so I'm never really scared of physical injury when it comes to fights, etc.
  20. I don't even think you need the phone, just any camera to take a picture of the layout. And Jaspa, to solve a 3x3x3 the basic way, you'll need to memorize approximately 5-6 different algorithms (Patterns).
  21. I'm finally starting to work out now, after nearly 2 months of injuries preventing that. Unfortunately those 2 months have killed my performance in sports, mostly my stamina and endurance which used to be really high for someone of my size. Now I gotta start working on that, but there's just enough snow that I can go for runs anymore. Rugby practices start next week. Exciting.
  22. I'd say that it would be better to just talk to her in person. Some people can't talk naturally when they're on the phone, me being one of them. Some people I'm able to pretty much talk non-stop with in person, but won't have much of a conversation with them if I ever call them.
  23. I'd say it'd be pretty good, considering it can keep you outside for a couple of hours each day being active and enjoying yourself. However probably the best solution is to get yourself a balanced diet, if you're just looking for weight control. Although if skating is the only thing you can do, go for it - it's better than nothing - but keep in mind that "real" sports and stuff like working out and running will keep you in much better physical shape. Just focus more on a better diet and getting outside a lot, if you aren't already. Avoid (But don't worry about eliminating) fast food, snacks, and other foods that provide most of their calories through fat. Any of that energy you don't use will be stored as body fat. I believe that a good percent for where you get youe energy from is 60-70% carbohydrates, 10-20% fat, 10-20% protein for the average person. For carbohydrates try to get more complex carbs (WHOLE WHEAT bread and grain, etc) as opposed to sugars and white bread (Candy, pop, non-whole grain bagels). It's fine to have some, but complex carbs are your base. If I'm correct, a peanut butter and jam sandwich with skim milk is pretty much the perfect meal/snack for keeping this ratio (You get approximately 65g carbs, 10g fat, 20g protein). It is fairly simple to do this, and there are a lot of different meals you can make. Remember that the more you're active, the more likely it is that you'll start to slim down.
