So today we're taking my cat in to get euthanized, it's really sad. Ever since about a week and a half ago, she really turned downhill, and she looks like she's in a miserable condition. Saddest thing I've ever gone through. :( I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like she had a nice life with your family and you will have lots of memories of her. *hug*

I change my desktop image often, but this is the current one. A friend of mine at deviantART created it. I use a lot of her images for my desktop when I'm not using something I created myself. (I hid my desktop icons... I am pretty sticky about privacy on things like that.) First Gimp Brush Pack. - Another brush set... again.
Turtlefemm replied to ThruItAll's topic in Art and Media
Those are really nice brushes. I don't use the gimp, although I do have it on my computer so I can understand what people are talking about when they ask questions. I might fire it up and try out your brushes. 8-) -

Attention all Offtopic Users...Project Offtopic is Underway
Turtlefemm replied to Turtlefemm's topic in Off-Topic
Ok... One day into Project Offtopic... A few threads have been locked and only two were removed from public view. If you look at the list of current topics, you can get a general idea of some of the subjects people like to discuss that can contain very intelligent commentary. There has been some serious cleaning in some of the larger threads, but for the most part I am feeling very hopeful that we can make this Offtopic forum into a place where users enjoy spending time. Explicit sexual discussion has its place... Tip.it public forums is not it... regardless of all of your debates on G or PG-13... offtopic or not.. Photographs whose humor is based on religious bias, sexual bias, flashing curse words, racial bias do not have a place in the tip.it public forums... Some of you are confused about what exactly "mature content" means as a label... It does not mean "Inside here you will find sexual situations, bad language, violent images and steam." It simply means that the topic itself might not be something that a reader is comfortable with. In fact, I don't think we need to add [mature content] tags into our titles in this forum. Sexually Transmitted Diseases, for example... That is a mature subject. It can be discussed in an intelligent, mature manner without a lot of silly offcolor jokes or dirty humor. It's pretty clear from that title that it is not a discussion of old cartoons. War... that is a pretty mature topic... Inside that kind of topic lies all kinds of discussion that might upset someone... so he or she can see the title and steer clear... Many of the topics we have are mature in nature and their titles state that pretty clearly. That is mature content... Mature doesn't mean "RUN INSIDE THIS QUICK! A BOOB!" and hopefully, the kinds of folks who only came to this forum for that kind of content will move on when they see that we're serious. Offtopic will not be held hostage to that kind of behaviour. At this time we are still discussing whether the moderators and administrators really want to take on the hard work of keeping a funny pics thread clear of pictures that break the rules when it has been tried and tried and tried and people don't seem to get the message. A thread like that is a privilege, not a right. It might not be a right that is returned right away, but it is under discussion. I'm really proud of the people who have been hanging out in Offtopic since this announcement was made... I've been reading many posts in many threads and just getting a general "wow" feeling of what kind of decent conversation can be going on without trying to rip each other's heads off... Bravo! ~Turtle -

I have read through this topic and have seen interesting points on both sides of this issue. I am a mother and both of my sons were breastfed. When I was out in a public place, be it a restaurant, park, sporting event, picnic, etc. I fed my sons in the manner in which I personally felt comfortable. I always had a receiving blanket (a small flannel blanket used for swaddling, burping, and small messes) with me that I draped over the baby and myself when I fed him. I feel that there is no harm in allowing for discomfort of others in a situation like that, but I draw the line at being told that I should go into a bathroom, sanitary or not, and hide myself and my infant away like the feeding is a shameful thing. It is not a shameful thing at all. All of the arguments about bathrooms being clean, traumatizing other people's children, proper restaurant etiquette are being given by people who are not breastfeeding mothers, and very likely not husbands or partners of breastfeeding mothers. I find it very sad that anybody can think the act is something disgusting to see. It is simply feeding. The side issues of whether infants and small children should be allowed into certain restaurant atmospheres are not really about the breastfeeding, but excuses to cover discomfort that folks feel about the idea of possibly seeing a naked breast with an infant latched onto it. I think that a breastfeeding mother should be comfortable. Should she whip out a breast in plain view of everyone in some exhibitionist display? No... but that is not really what is being argued here. I have never seen a single breastfeeding mother making a huge issue out of yanking her shirt up and flashing the world. I have also seen breastfeeding mothers cramped into a corner of a public restroom attempting to feed their infants standing up, because there was only one stall and they didn't want to inconvenience someone who might need to use the toilet. That is just wrong... That they were made to feel so uncomfortable about feeding a child that they were struggling to do that... And no, that was not in some "fancy" restaurant, just a regular "family" type place. My conclusion is that I will always be respectful to others. I was so when I was breastfeeding. But not at the expense of my own sense of worth and duty to my child. I was discreet, because I had respect for them, but I would not go be put in a corner like a shameful person. I would not be relegated to a bathroom like a shameful person. I despise people who chew their food with their mouths open in restaurants. I despise people who pick their noses in a public place. I despise people who scratch their balls in public. I despise people who scratch their [wagon] in public. Those disgusting acts are perfectly all right and not called into any kind of decency light... Yet breastfeeding is...

Locked for cleaning... will reopen soon! ~Turtlefemm EDIT: Reopened. Several pages worth of cleaning has been done to this topic, but overall, I found that there were many intelligent responses and discussions happening on both sides of the issue as well as a few side issues. Please keep the flaming out... be respectful of each other... Keep it on topic...Remember the rules and do these things and this thread is good to go. ~Turtlefemm

It has been decided that the Offtopic forum is due for a cleaning. This forum was was designed so that users can create topics that are not about Runescape, not one in which an "anything goes" type atmosphere could be created. Offtopic is still bound by the same rules as the rest of tip.it forums. We allowed a small amount of leeway with the rules and some users have abused that in a big way. Tip.it forums is not the place for any discussion of sexual practices. It is certainly not the place for posting pictures that contain things not allowed on our forums in other places. Some of you will cry "censorship!" and you are correct. We do censor to a certain extent, because this is a family friendly forum. That does not mean that discussions of a serious nature cannot take place, but it does mean that discussing sexual activities may not take place, religious intolerance, racial intolerance and many other rule breaks that you can see in below where I have pasted the most often broken rule: Offtopic has become a place into which many of our most loyal offtopic posters do not want to set foot. That is pretty sad. It should not be that way. They should be comfortable going in and making posts without having to wade through miles of spam, negative comments, troll nastiness, hate and disturbing sexual conversation. We have a lot of new users who don't seem to understand the rules and at this time, we're going to have to crack down on the rules hard. The gray area of rulebending in Offtopic is finished, because too many users are unable to handle any relaxation of rules and step far over the line we allowed from G into light PG and right into R and sometimes X ... Any threads that have been created for the sole purpose of describing sexuality, such as the 'have you ever caught them' thread, will be removed from public view. The funny pics thread that currently exists will be removed from public view, because it is full of images that are against our forum rules. All topics will be checked over carefully from this point forward. Censorship? Yes.. you bet... because this is not an open adult forum. It is part of a gaming forum whose rules are not geared for adults. Let's get Offtopic back to what it should be... ~Turtlefemm--on behalf of The Tip.It Administrative Team ------ --->Your Guide to Posting in Offtopic<---

I use irfanview for viewing images and resizing some of them as well. I knew that there were other features in the program, but because I have several programs I use for my artwork, I never tried them out. When I saw your thread, I decided to give a sample sig a shot. It stinks.. because I just grabbed a screenshot, but here is the before and after: Before After The program has six tabs across the top: File, Edit, Image, Options, View, Help To begin with, you'd open your picture using File and choosing open... Next comes the editing, which really extends into the image tab, since that is where the enhancements are located. However, for a sig, you'll want to size it smaller. I would suggest, since it is annoying as heck, that you do your cropping in MS Paint if that is what you have right now, because I found the "custom crop" thing annoying to use under the irfanview edit tab. Plus I had to cut the image I cropped and then in the image tab had to create a new blank image and it would be easier if you can simply already have at least the size you want so that you can just play with the effects. It's not the best thing to use for creating something, but it can do the job.. in a limited sort of way. I hope this helped ~Turtlefemm
