  1. you can also hood trick (wield another random hood or take off your hood) when you enter rooms w/ mages. takes a bit of practice to master though since it's easy to forget to put the hood back on
  2. I'm pretty sure hits follow a uniform distribution
  3. It is because of this reason that I don't really see jagex implementing the bind system.
  4. the vid would have been like 20 minutes long, lol... and no i did not vid it. and such a comparison is not needed; you only need to compare the experimental average hit to the maximum hit as calculated normally. you may very well be right and me wrong - we can't say yet for sure, since a p value of 0.10 is in a really dubious region and could go either way. regardless the original point is that it IS possible to defend against it (mage pray and possibly mage gear)
  5. I would imagine the system would work like the system in call of duty, which is really pretty convenient. if you aren't familiar with it, at the start of the game basically you can choose from 5 set classes (or more, if you're prestiged - but that's a whole other story). you can design your classes in a separate interface in your spare time.
  6. Buy 10 bandos godswords for 180m total, sell 10 bandos godswords three hours later for 185m total. Play Black Ops in the meantime. Or play objective modes, camp at bombsites, and do frosts semi-afk :shades:
  7. crashing post has made a "efficiency" camp and a "fun" camp that flame each other. both of these are actually misnomers - all of us are trying to be as efficient and have the most fun at the same time. efficiency does not preclude fun, and fun does not preclude efficiency. moreover, being an "efficient" player is not better than being a "fun" player, and vice versa. it is a matter of personal opinion, preference, and intelligence. if anything, the reason we fashion ourselves as "elite" is because we try to argue logically and clearly. others see this as arrogance because we refuse to respond to unfounded retorts and instead flame back because we can't stand the lack of logic behind certain things said. elite really has nothing to do with levels in this case; "elite" is an unwillingness to accept ignorance.
  8. i'm expecting a large loss (several million) on my DFS, as i think the price will definitely fall and rise like you said, but stabilize at a lower price. but yeah it's still useful for frosts, which i like to semi-afk and thus don't use antifire pots... other than that i'm pretty sure spectral or cks will cover every situation dfs would be useful for.
  9. So then by that logic trying to predict one is silly. lol. so is all of technical analysis in trading, but then i guess ignoring a hundred-billion dollar business is inconsequential. OT: also, considering dragon defender doesn't change overall rank order for chaotic weaponry (maul>cls>rapier), i don't think it's actually that big of a deal. on the other hand, damage reduction is.
  10. I don't see the inconsistency. So speeding up c1's is negligible but he still wants a whole new bind slot to have both hex hunter and be able to GGS in c1's isn't a tad inconsistent? Fast and efficient c1's are a big part of dungeoneering at higher levels. Not really; saving half of your time on c1's - a very dramatic change - is only equivalent to like shaving 40 seconds off of each dungeon if you're good, or like 20 seconds if you're bad. if you're going for sub-20 dgs on average, i'd agree with you, but that's pretty hard to do consistently without a perm team.
  11. I disregard any chaotic degrade cost into profit analysis because I dg for fun, and tokens are easy to get But yeah that claim is reasonable, if you are strapped for cash and don't have an excess of tokens. personally I always use rapier for slayer situations but that's just me. Either way, the claim that whip will spike in price due to this update is pretty ridiculous, unless it's picked up by a merch clan or something. whip prices have been more or less stable aside from their buyouts You have your right to your opinion, but I just don't see the evidence behind this. we can go back and forth all day.
  12. I lol'd Yes it is, and I honestly do not see demand rising that much. if you really want to get into the details of it, the only other purchasable substitute good for a whip is GSes, which are actually quite different. generally GS's are useless but in the cases where they are useful, they are more likely more than 5% better than a whip. OT: ~5% DPS is actually pretty significant, but nothing groundbreaking. i still don't think it's enough to warrant using DD over DFS for situations like melee vs melee pvp. bandos is arguable but if the DD is very hard to get and always risked, perhaps not.
  13. hunter is still reasonably profitable, and general skills do have *some* use in dungeoneering either way, the main moneymakers (1M+/hr) nowadays are flipping, daily tasks, and monster hunting.
  14. Based on what? >_> Why would a new defender increase the demand for an item when defenders already existed as well as better alternative weaponry? Knee jerk reaction? -.- Seriously -- the whip remains an extremely popular weapon -- particularly amongst those people who don't spend all their time graphing charts and mathematical formulae to determine how many thousandsth of a hitpoint they will hit better with "x" weapon against "y" armour. If you think that a whip is useful for any high level nowadays you are clearly either T or just very (and I mean extremely) S Rapier is categorically better for anyone who has access to it... And no I don't see how this update would affect whip any more than it does the other one handed weapons.
  15. I don't expect people to not like this update... it seems very fairly balanced mathematically
  16. not necessarily , we can project the stats of it pretty accurately already. I have already analyzed it using 28 atk and 7 str and it's about a 5% increase in dps compared to defender
  17. Those are pretty significant areas lol. I mean CLS is pretty much only useful for safe pvp and bandos yet people argue that it's still useful.... DFS is far more useful than CLS. Defender is only clearly better for limited pvp scenarios (mostly dangerous) and slayer.
  18. Same, except I'd say you're on an extremely powerful substance. Not trying to bring tif down or anything it's a nice read, but anyone from tif will say tif is the best and vice versa. hahah yeah, it's kind of hard to be unbiased about that kind of thing. I don't think they do. it's just that the players that fashion themselves as efficient tend to come off as arrogant, myself included.
  19. I view efficiency as fun in some cases. this is why I enjoy seemingly mundane tasks such as cleaning my bank.
  20. I just browsed some competing fansite forums and have to say tif is much more informative and overall has a better community
  21. not sure if t or just very s there is difference between overall reduction and reduction only on one hit. I suggest you look at the analysis again
  22. if the soak is applied in the same manner as dg shields, then those calculations are incorrectbecause it is 20% of hit-200 that is soaked and not 20% of your hit. otherwise a hit that rolled as 199 would do more damage than a hit that rolled as 201 either way you and grimy are right in saying that claws will be even better than ags
  23. Taking the limit as max hit approaches infinity of the c' expression shows exactly what you said, it's just that we don't see this saturating behavior for our range of max hits.
  24. Assuming you have 99 hp and are using overloads and brews, what HP should you brew at approximately, without risking death? What else is there to know about brewing in bandos? How do you time OVL specs to not coincide with when you are being attacked by Graar? Thanks
  25. Rune knives/darts and dragon darts are pretty comparable Anyway, defender+rapier loses to dfs+rapier in pvp... this is supported by both tons of personal experience AND a lot of actual research defender is pretty bad for supreme and obviously useless for arma, arguable for bandos but i personally prefer dfs
