Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
That's exactly it, though- the problem is that there aren't enough monsters maul is the best against, and they're all niche monsters. THAT'S why it's not the best- if there was a big bad crush weak monster, divine flashing with a maul would likely be the way to go. But as things are, everything is weak enough that rapier/CLS + divine and SS flashing is still better than maul + SS flashing and then divine flashing at high hp except for dumb monsters like the KQ that nobody wants to kill anyway.

You really do. If you haven't been put in a position where you have tons of incidental excess HP experience, of course you can't understand the position of wanting extra combat to not be meaningless; you're still concerned with killing your armored zombies for 99 strength or whatever low levels do for combat experience these days. There are so many reasons to kill things past 99 HP; WAY more reasons than training any other skill past 99. The nice thing about raising the HP cap is that it both gives a nice benefit to people who have killed enormous amounts of monsters over the course of playing, while still not unbalancing content. It'd be one thing to raise strength to 120 before giving us better damage absorbing armor, but an extra 21 hitpoints on your lifebar is not a gamebreaking advantage by any stretch of the imagination. A little extra padding against d claw rushers (which really, nobody with maxed combat should be getting killed by anyway) is not an unreasonable reward for that much extra hp experience. I also resent the implication that HP is somehow unlike DG in that it involves "grind." I mean, sure, you can grind chinning or rock lobster bursting for quick hp experience, but HP experience also comes from most of the goofing off high levels tend to do. Any boss hunting or PvP and most of the best moneymaking methods will add to your HP experience. In my opinion DG is more of a grind than, say, corping. It'd be interesting to see an intelligent argument against 120 HP rather than yet more variations on "I'm too lazy but still want max total," which really isn't an argument at all.

Hey look, a low level who thinks he knows what's best for the game. Anyway, yeah, HP should definitely be the skill to go beyond 99 if any do. It's one of the few skills that basically requires you to go well beyond 99 to get various other stuff done (slayer, summoning, killing anything for fun/profit), would definitely be nice for all that exp to be useful.

Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
I don't see how it's any less realistic than soul split flashing. It's already been proven to be effective, now we just need a monster where the maul is better enough that it's worth doing. If the maul was significantly better at, say, Bandos, we'd probably already see pros divine flashing there, but since CLS and rapier are both damn good it's not worth the effort. I'm just saying that it's not fair to rule gear flashing out of the maul's advantages, because it IS possible. There are other reasons for the maul being inferior for most things.

Yeah, it's not like anyone would ever use gear flashing to accomplish an otherwise impossible solo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL875aiJ594 Oh wait...

It might work in free play PvP no-arming situations though. How would it compare there? Yeah, I mean, it'd also be great for an ultimate strength-only safe PvP DDS deathmatch, if we're just making up random situations to use it in.

Dungeoneering Shields Discussion
Because, terrifyingly, some people really like making a full set of armor, farming a few strong pots, and killing everything in the whole dungeon before taking out the boss and ending. These people tend to get inexplicably angry when you try to rush them.

Dungeoneering Shields Discussion
I'm speaking from when I was in the 70s and below, I've since found better people to dungeoneer with. Your random quip has nothing to do with my point, though. A significantly higher percentage of people who hate dungeoneering will do it efficiently than that of people who like it, just by virtue of their goals when they train. Ah, well 70 and below is such a small minority and hence, should be disregarded. My main point was, the people who hate dungeoneering have very little practice in it, they're not sure what to do, what rooms to clear, to follow the keyer or not, should i gate this? Etc etc, furthermore, because they're only in the skill for said rewards, the majority do not wish to learn how to improve themself, as they're just going to throw the skill away in a few days anyway. Not in my experience. Most of the people who didn't suck I met on my way to 80 hated it. The reason everyone post 85 or so likes it for the most part is because everyone who hated it got their rewards and left already. Of course everyone left at our levels likes it because otherwise why play?

Dungeoneering Shields Discussion
This is a joke, right? People who enjoy dungeoneering are typically the ones who are against rushing and waste time screwing around with armor and clearing non GDs and fishing when there's food on the ground. The people who are in it solely for the rewards are motivated to get their tokens quickly. The people who like to sit back and enjoy the skill are the ones who need to separate and find like-minded people rather than slowing down people who just want to get exp/tokens, not the other way around. Not a joke, and i know many, many people with 100 + dungeoneering who do it ONLY because they like the skill, when you're that high, who cares about tokens. Realistically you already have all the chaotics/rewards you want, so tokens become useless. And none of them enjoy a slow dungeon :3 I've never met someone just dunging for the rewards who slowed down dungeons on purpose, but I've met PLENTY of people who "enjoy" skilling or clearing random rooms and slow down dungeons, on purpose, and yell at you when you tell them to stop wasting time. I'm sure there are players who enjoy dungeoneering efficiently, but I guarantee there is nobody dunging just for the rewards who prefers to do it slowly.

Brawling gloves questions
Not quite. You get to use a certain number of bones with your brawlers, period, whether they're big bones, bat bones, dragon bones, or frost dragon bones. Unless you're insane, you want to get the most out of your brawlers, which means the highest exp bone.

Dungeoneering Shields Discussion
My argument is this: you pay by the hour of combat (often quite a lot in CW because you're in multi, which is proven to drain chaotics much faster) for a shield that is at its best slightly better defensively than the DFS while being worse offensively (losing out on 7 str) and crippled against magic (-5 vs +10 is a LOT for mage def). Even if the CKS were free, I would never, ever use it over a DFS or rune defender. There isn't a niche for high melee/ranged defense when it comes with those costs, unless you're talking about randomly blowing money for a slight advantage in a couple of PvP scenarios. If it were WAY BETTER for CW, then sure, that'd be great, but it's sometimes slightly better, sometimes a lot worse, and always costs more. This is a joke, right? People who enjoy dungeoneering are typically the ones who are against rushing and waste time screwing around with armor and clearing non GDs and fishing when there's food on the ground. Brawling gloves questions
SC tools will degrade them faster but give more exp- you don't lose or gain anything compared to what you'd normally get. I recommend using SC hammers just so you have to spend less time smithing in the wilderness risking getting PKed. Not sure on the second question, but I'm sure you can look that up yourself.

Piety is a big prayer point saver already, and the -8 pray bonus AND loss of offensive bonuses from a glory/fury makes this an insane idea. Just no.

Dungeoneering Shields Discussion
A fixed 20/10% absorption would be perfectly balanced. -The shields require level 80 in three stats (two for the CKS) -They have a low alch value -They must be repaired for a fairly significant amount of cash/tokens -In some cases they have negative attack bonuses that discourage their use for hybrids -They are each vulnerable to one corner of the combat triangle (unlike ely/divine) -They are offensively unimpressive (excluding the farseer) -They have almost exclusively lower stats to their alternatives Plenty of drawbacks over existing shields to make them not the only choice, or even a better choice than ely/divine, while still making them significantly useful (I'd buy CKS and EEKS if they absorbed 20/10%). But of course, Jagex goes for the "80 req worse than 75 req in every way" angle instead. Stupid.

Dungeoneering Shields Discussion
I believe the mage max hit is only 300, which is a max absorption of 14 (300 becomes 286). Melee doesn't really matter- it doesn't soak melee damage and you only get meleed by the boss if you mess up anyway. The more important difference between the shields isn't the 100% negligible damage absorption, but the tiny ranged attack bonus on the eagle eye verses the somewhat higher mage defense on the spectral. When you figure in the very significant repair costs on the eagle eye and the fact that you don't have to risk the spectral, I'd say the spectral is the overwhelmingly better choice.

At the risk of offtopicing this thread to hell, don't do that. A primal (or promethium) plate has better defensive stats and you can use a tank ring just fine with a novite kite or antidragon shield from the first room. The only way it'd be worth it is if you're smithing armor every round anyway, which at your level you REALLY shouldn't be.

9-Nov-2010 - Bank Op and Equip Screen Update (BOAESU)
Nope- claws split up into smaller hits so you'd only get to soak off the first hit if that. Remember that it only soaks damage above 200. An 800 claw spec might go to like 780 at the lowest.

False, all the damage soaking does is cost more money recharging it, more than making up for whatever supplies you've saved. The recharge costs make it simply not worth using in the long run. There are SO many reasons to save up for a superior-in-every-way arcane that isn't even harder to get than the farseer, rather than spend 200k tokens on this shield and then continue to pour money into it to recharge it. It is not a money saver by any stretch of the imagination. It's hilarious that people are STILL defending these shields. They're BAD SHIELDS for anyone who can get their hands on them. I've never met ANYONE with a DG shield who actually liked it compared to a spirit shield, nor anyone who didn't have the means to get the corresponding spirit shield. It's ALL bored 100+ DGers who didn't have anything left to spend tokens on and are heavily disappointed in their shields. That's got to say something about how bad these things are.

Pro DGing
Depends how much you key- battleaxe is worse than 2h in every way save the ability to use a tank ring with it. Though, I've been hearing more about this idea of using gather/art ring for keying to save on skill door damage. If that is indeed better, then the battleaxe is simply inferior to the 2h.

Training Dungeoneering
Huh? The only thing you'll see on 117 is people going for single floors. They advertise the floor they're starting. Definitely don't do one floor three times to get a level- you'll get no prestige bonus for it, which generally works out to be less than half of what you'd normally be getting. Just reset when you finish all floors and get the levelup the next prestige run.
