  1. Hey, I'm going camping with friends there in September. I look forward to the infamous showers of rain in the highlands :
  2. no offence here but I just don't understand asian humour, I'm uneducated on the subject. :P Is a lot of asian comedy like that? I just don't understand what is funny about stuff like that ( apart from the ten-ten part) Was it because most find English easy to speak and laughing at the guy because he was rubbish? Also what's with the whipping? I don't get why that's funny either. Please educate me :ohnoes: Yeah weez, educate us :) I really don't get the fun part of the movie either. I do understand that it might be funny (for some ppl) that others get spanked when they laugh, because they try not to laugh. But, unless you know those people, it's not exactely uhm, well, my cup of tea. Then again, there are numerous people, including my girlfriend, that don't see what's so funny about British comedy. When we watched the part in 'The Search for the Holy Grail' where Arthur tried convincing the commoners he was the King, and they refused to accept his authority, I nearly choked because I couldn't stop laughing. But she only sat there and said ha-ha in a cynical way. Perhaps we should go watch a chinese movie, maybe she's into that :)
  3. Gosh, yesterday I saw the horrible 'the astronaut's wife', today 'Dante's Peak' and 'do you want to know a secret' (or something like that). Especially that last movie was worse than any horror movie I've ever seen in my life. My my, can there be any more clicḫ̩̉̉s in a movie? Not even a parody can handle that much clicḫ̩̉̉. I actually can't believe I saw the entire last part; there aren't enough words to describe my disappointment in hollywood movies right now. It's a sad, sad movie world there. Let's hope that within 25 years, hollywood movies either dramatically improve or die a painful death. At least most South American, Asian and European movies are a guarantee of good entertainment or learning something interesting in this world.
  4. Heh :D we havnt done that in a long time. Should try again. *Fluffles Oy because he hasnt seen him a while* *fluffles back* :)
  5. Ummm care to explain how JIT works in a queueing situation? :uhh: JIT is about stock ordering... Theme park queues are about what ride is in most demand... you can't make people go to a ride they don't want to because it's got an empty queue... Yes you can. It's a matter of JIT and marketing, fairly easy. I suppose you know something about the constrain theories as well? They're the key to this problem. Feel free to PM me with the matter if you want to discuss it. We have only just seen this in class, I'm an applied economics student so I assume know what I'm saying here and I'm not fond of talking rubbish.
  6. Ooh, nice initiative Misplaced! There are a few good movies that come out soon, I hope they get a good rating from you, so they're worth seeing. Have fun in the movie theater with the collegues, both the ones you like and dislike ;) Perhaps you can also add an option: viewed while having a couple of beers. Then we know your opinion of the ending is rather fuzzy :
  7. I don't have a proper car, and I actually need to study for the next few weeks :( But yeah, it'd be fun if we could someday arrange some kind of meeting with the forum ppl in the neighbourhood. Vmser, Lode, you, me, perhaps some people from England too (it's not that far...)? Hah, gathering of the tip.it trolls :D

How could I have been so stupid? Of course it's a tulip :) Can it be the Pink Panter?
  9. 3 hours?? Then you live close to me than you do to them Daan. I drive from Leuven to Waalwijk in about 2 hours. I guess it's about an hour to Middelburg from there?
  10. Hints? Pft :P It's only up for 2 hours, I'm sure some one with the same taste in music as me will guess it ;)
  11. Haha, this reminds me of our corse 'Production & Logistics'; the queueing problem. The same problem occurs in factories, where there's often a far too big stock. There's a famous solution to it; Just-In-Time management. Many American theme parcs have succesfully applied it, perhaps this Alton Towers thing might do the same? Queueing for 2 hours is just ridiculous.
  12. Na, I like British humour. There's an episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus on our public broadcast every day, I have all the Monty movies and there are at least 5 fantastic British comedy series on television. If I compare that to the spanking humor in that clip...
  13. Leuven, Belgium.
  14. It might have been funny if we all spoke chinese, which we don't.
  15. The Butterfly Effect - begins here --------- That' wasn't easy. Please don't make it too hard Ford; the band can't even be found on wikipedia... Anyway, here's mine:
  16. Strawberry, preferabily with pieces of strawberry in it, like the true Italian ice cream, yum. Also stracciatella =P~

Yeah, old news, like I said, but it's still a good thing to know for all future psychologists :)

Your understanding of very easy is my understanding of very hard, so I'm not even gonna start the fairly easy ones ;) But I'll give it a guess anyway: 1/ The name of the Rose 2/ The Dentist I'm already sure that it's wrong, because it's never that obvious :D

Old news, but yeah, it's one of the (pretty obvious) facts of how our brain works. If you think of it, it's perfectly normal; if you quickly see a person's face that you know, even if just for a millisecond, you recognize that person. Some cells in the brain get activated and they trigger other cells that eventually form a track of activated cells that is the face you recognize. The same thing goes for words, and images that aren't complete. we will all be able to read the sentence below, even though the letters aren't complete: If you can read this sentence, you're a sane human being. Fun, isn't it? Perhaps this will be a little harder? Ooh, you can still read this? What about this? And This? So you don't have to completely see something to recognize it; just the basic characteristics are enough. And I quickly drew that in paint, so there's no difficult theory behind it; it's plain and simple: we're totally different from computers, our brain works in mysterious ways. We recognize patterns in certain givens that distinguish an object from another, we don't see the whole picture, that would require too much energy of our brain.
  20. Just saw 'the astronaut's wife'. Johnny Depp played the astronaut, so I thought it was a film worth seeing. Big mistake. It was pretty horrible; the scenario was something that already made me suspicious, but some seemingly stupid scenarios eventually work out great, like every Tarantino movie for example. But the director obviously isn't Tarantino, and this movie was plain rubbish. It never made sense, you'd expect a complete explanation in the last part of the movie, but no, a typical myserious close-up of the women and children. As if the producers want to tell you to come and see the sequel of this Hollywood junk. -.- Waste of time, now I have to see a good Depp movie before going to bed, otherwise I'll just be disappointed in Johnny Depp, otherwise an actor that guarantees a fantastic movie.
  21. Yeah, what's the point of listening to a whole lot of swearing, cursing and offensice language anyway? Music needs 2 things: good lyrics and a good sound. I don't rank swearing and cussing as good lyrics. That's by far the n̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâð1 reason why I deeply loathe the current rap music and what's in this thread. It doesn't add anything enhancing to your life, just makes you think cursing is the 'way to go'. Pathetic. =;
  22. Hints please :)
  23. Yeah, and if you want to know what some of our favourite music is, just read the topics... That's what this forum is about.
  24. Err, yeah, the title gives you a clue what this topic is about eh? : Please, don't flame or judge people on the type of music they listen to, if I post a review of my latest Britney album, don't point fingers please. Of course, as it is the aim of this thread, positive discussion is well appreciated. ------------------------------------------------ Here's some of my new albums: Bought the album 2 months ago, right after the release in Belgium. You're a fan or you're not, right? ;) At first I thought this could just as well be a 'best of' album, the sound of it is like a mixture of all the albums the Peppers have made so far. But both the lyrics as well as the music itself are more mature than anything they've done so far. On Californication, you could hear the Peppers were trying to get back on the right trail, trying to get rid of their roamings of the past. What 'By the Way' introduced, the new album continues. The Peppers are reaching the path of a normal life, luckily enough that doesn't diminish the quality of their amazing funky music. Meds isn't the best Placebo album, I immediately thought that after I heard it the first time. I liked a few songs, but it sounded too much as a rip-off combination of their previous singles, in a worse version. But after listening to it a couple of times, I thought this was another mighty fine album, though not as amazing as 'Black Market Music' or actually any of their previous albums. A month ago I went to Werchter, a 4 day festival here in belgium. 2 days after I saw the Peppers performing, it was Placebo's turn to prove me wrong on Meds. And they did it outstanding! Placebo is one of the best live bands, that much is sure. The set consisted of the entire Meds album mixed with their best singles. And it all sounded very much like the best of Placebo, even though I was sceptical about Meds. Which made me realise that you need to be in the mood for Placebo should you want to really enjoy it. Briefly, Meds is a gentle and innocent version of what once was a revelation in music. The shocking lyrics, the the fast, shredding guitars and the punk-attitude all seem to be gone, replaced by mellow ballads and soft-rock. You could say this is Placebo for the emos, but then again, aren't we all a bit emo? : Ahh, Jack White, Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence exceed my wildest expectations! I never really liked the White Stripes that much, so I wasn't very anxious to hear what the raconteurs brought. But my god, this is probably the best new band from the past years. Has Faith deliberately waited with Jack White and Brendan Benson to meet? Perhaps, but it was definately worth it; the Raconteurs simply out-rock all other current rock bands. The Editors, the Kooks, the Artic Monkeys, the Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party.. Plenty of good new Britpop to enjoy in this world. The Back Room and Inside In, Inside Out are, IMO, albums that represent the typical British music of this age, and it's good music! It's nothing extraordinary, but it's a pleasure to listen to.
  25. Damn, I wash I was on my other compt at home; I have about 50 screenies of the old RS Gods cheese'ing with me, including you Greg ;) I also have a pic of me dropping 10 rune kites and 5 rune 2handers on my 15th birthday party  That was 5 years ago, 2 handers and kites were still a fortune back then. But my most precious pic is my bank account on its peek; right before I gave my rune stuff, p hats, masks and other bits and bytes to my best friend, who became 16 that day. He still has about 50 p hats, a cracker, 40 mask sets and a lot more of the old rare stuff, like a disc of returning and those easter eggs and pumpkins. Eventually we'll sell them all on ebay and split the profits with : I wonder how much we'll get for it.
