  1. cheers. i will be on the veterans boat, i have 120 cb
  2. i want to play at the high level boat and the themed worlds arent working i also cant remember the old good world i used to play, it was 60-something i think cheers
  3. just the title really, i know i keep hearing people say it is but it seems unbearably slow to me atm. What are some other options for fast(er) exp? if you could just post exp rates etc that would help check out my stats if they affect things cheers
  4. 'tis true, but its hard not too look forward to things. I am more impressed with jagex for the updates that i didnt expect (that are awesome) than i am dissappointed with then revolutionary updates that i dont use
  5. so true! but some things suprise me when i wasnt expecting they would, i.e. lasagne/GE
  6. i was mentioning how jagex did really well with the updates, they were as good as i could imagine. it was my imagination (of how much the update would affect my gameplay) which over hyped the update. jagex did fine, i assumed that the new bank would make the game 10-20% easier because the bank confusion would dissappear. it didnt dissappear and even if it had it wouldnt have made the game easier. i hope that clears up some confusion, sorry for the quantification, it was a joke
  7. OR: Im sorry Jagex, you were right and i was wrong I always knew there was a better way to organise the bank system, and i frowned upon jagex for not implementing it all those years i played before the bank update. Now the bank update is here and i really dont use it to its full potential my bank is a mess because I can never be bothered changing tabs when banking. The same goes for the run button option, i always though changing the screen to change from walking was unneccesary, now its here and i still change screen to run. another example is summoning when i heard summoning was going to be released i thought i was going to be walking around with a familiar all the time, carrying my things and helping me during all activities, but that doesnt happen, i rarely use familiars except when monster hunting. the point is this, i couldnt wait for these updates and (occasionally) blamed jagex for there slow integration into the game, now they are here and they work well and i realise i was wrong, they didnt make the game that much better. On the other hand i didnt anticipate the grand exchange, and that did make the game much better for me. Are there any updates that you couldnt wait for, but now you dont use them that much? or that changed the game in a big way, but you didnt appreciate when they were released?
  8. I figured it might be interesting to get a new take, since that thread is months old. Since then, thoughts/training methods/the Summoning hype has died down a bit, thus making the results more "even." Aint no thang, the results seem to be similar though The real question is if charms had the values based on experience that everyone is suggesting, would it be a viable moneymaker?
  9. viewtopic.php?f=200&t=747311 just thought id bring it up, lets just all be glad you cant purchase charms or buy summoning
  10. just mix it up, read a book, listen to some music, watch some fotc episodes and maybe a movie. I like to create a playlist on the music machine and play games on the screen, making a playlist lasts about an hour for me. I flew in to NY from NZ recently and my gf told me heaps before the flight that she was going to have to sneak in some mcdonalds because she cant eat airplane food, i told her repeatedly that she is studying to be a scientist so she should know that her studies sample size was inadequate to draw any conclusions. i talked her round and she ate the food and spent 3 hours throwing up while i held the bag, sux to be a know it all
  11. I go to heaps and heaps, it is one of my favourite things to do. For a while i got bored of listening to music, something was missing from my music experience. Then i started going to gigs and it added a whole new dimension to my music repetoire, it was like i was born again music fan. I have seen muse twice, the foos, tool, the killers, the fratellis, the white stripes, beastie boys and hundreds of others. a concert is what you make it though, it is easy to just sit in the stands and not enjoy it
  12. I really like asimovs story about entropy, the last question or something. God ended up being a computer, i found that really believable. Also there is a philosophical concept called the omega point that says that because humanities complexity and humanities conscience is forever increasing thaat there must be an ultimate point that is already existing, i like to think that is what god is and we are the means to that end. But thats just me, i have always had a more eastern beliefs system
  13. #-o That was from a topic about how low players have sunk. I made a bunch of other equally mature topics when i just joined with my friend and i had just discovered drinking
  14. the dream thing is actually an interesting idea. i think you guys (my tipit friends) would like the movie 'waking life' alot. It covers alot of basic philosophical questions and breaks them down for laymen. Its something i think we dont get enough of in the western education system until university. If your interested you can look up a few clips on youtube, i like the one on free will and determinism, or get it out from the movie store. throughout the movie the antagonist discovers that the only difference between your waking life and your dream life is consistency, because you can see and hear things just as clear as in your waking life and dreams can seem to last for hours or days. So in actual fact our waking life is the same just more predictable and controllable and boring than our dreaming life. There is a period of time, about 6 minutes, when we die where our brain is more active than it is normally. 6 minutes is enough time to have a dream that seems to last for days, so it is possible to that the life we are living now exists after we are dead and only our brains are active. Or that our entire life that we remember exists in this period before we die Hope i have blown your minds
  15. I used to get into them when i was young but there is something about the books that feature children saving the day, especially young children (i.e. golden compass, narnia, harry potter and to a lesser extent (excuse the pun) lord of the rings). Its nice to read them when you are young but to me now it just seems like they are unbelievable, and that a fully grown person could do a much better and more efficient job. This grinds my gears especially when they all ahve to use their individual skills to save the day. anyhoo thats just my opinion. OT im surprised at how most people seem to just read the cuurent literature. When i was growing up (im 22) i read alot of ernest hemingway, asimov, arthur c clarke and john wyndham. plus heaps of other science fiction.
  16. Before you got members which skills were you most excited about training? Personally i couldnt wait to train agility and slayer agility because it was going to help me train ALL my other skills, and because it has such an isolated community, its like sprining, the only way to train agility is to train agility. and slayer because of the opposite reasons as my reasons for agility, it is possible to train heaps of skills while training slayer, slayer plus att, str, prayer, def, mage, range, herblore and now of course summoning. I honestly didnt understand what most of the skills were for So what were your perceptions of the members skills, pre members, and which skills could you not wait to train?
  17. so true the more advances like this the more likely we will shed our oil stained skin though. and the crooks can cheat us elsewhere
  18. why do people forget about cockroaches? they are by far the most efficient crimson droppers i have tried, both money-wise and time wise, when you take into account walking to and from banks and the use of prayer pots. Seriously, you guys should take a load of monkfish and camp at cockroaches for an hour, you will get about 50 crimson charms, 20 greens and golds and about 5 blue. Plus about 150k-200k worth of items. All for the cost of 20 monkfish and all the items are stackable
  19. your story made my day and the veges look awesome! its cool there are so many hundreds of crazy hobbies to choose from like this. the world never ceases to amaze me
  20. I moved town recently to start my university career. I knew no one in my new town and I didnt really talk to many people on the first day of the 'lets get going!' programme. So that night after the programme had finished for the day everyone was very awkwardly hanging out in the common room and this guy walked up to me and said "you look like you could do with a beer" It was awesome, i couldnt believe it was my first day of uni and it took that long for somebody to start drinking. Anyway we finished his dozen, and someone gave us a ride into town and we bought 3 more doz and made another friend. this was 2 and a half years ago and the three of us are still tight as, we have been through heaps togethor, we have all had rocky relationships, but its funny how we never argue, heaps of police involvement we always travel around the country for live music (we see all the local acts as well as recently seeing foos, muse x2, tool, killers, white stripes, Jet etc) hmm was quite nice talking about my mates Here they are toasting me at my 21st recently, they were useless
  21. thanks for the free bump! I definately find virtues in both approaches though P.S mofw ftw!
  22. after reading your posts and the wikipedia article i still think it is a real possibility to have wireless electricity for a household, please ignore my obvious scientific shortcomings in the original post. I only used the sun as an example of energy being converted to electricity over a distance, not implying that everyone should have a small localised star in their house. Wouldnt it be liberating to have no more cords? obviously there are some barriers there, but didnt arthur c. clarke say in his three rules of prediction that anyone who says something is impossible is invariably wrong
  23. another sciency topic Nowadays you can control most things over a distance, you can use the internet, change the channel on your tv, unlock your car and even change the temperature in a room over a distance. The thing that has bugged me is that the only thing restricting us from freeing ourselves from the nuisance of plugs and wires is power. All sorts of restrictions would need to be put in place if wireless electricity was introduced, you wouldnt want passers by to be able to use your power bill to charge their phone and use their george foreman grill, if they were standing just outside your house but within the wireless range. You would probably end up needing to enter a pin every time you wanted to use an appliance, but it would still be worth it. I was thinking about why this would not be possible and i was struck with an idea, isnt that what the sun does? provide us with electricity from afar. But this electricity is harmful in large doses and requires an impractically large reciever (a solar panel). But if it were possible to somehow* make the radiation stronger and not detrimental would it be possibleto have wireless power? Im sure much smarter people have considered this, i was hoping some smart tipiter could take a break from all the nostalgic and celebrity topics and enlighten me on some of the restrictions and also the possibilities. *this is where im afraid my argument falls to pieces
  24. Everyone does find a happy medium, its like a spectrum, with the majority of people lying somewhere in the middle. Its wrong to say that the scientific approach is less fun or 'no-lifing' though. because people draw their fun differently, some people find it fun to set and achieve goals (scientific), whereas others, prefer to change activities when they get bored and extract their fun from not paying as much attention to goals and levels (relaxed). As everyone knows, no method is inferior they are just difference. and difference is good It seems to be about half relaxed and half scientific at the moment
