I've started to play more frequently. I usually get in a little bit of practice every day, although it's not really practice, I just find some Guitar Pro tabs on the internet and try to play along to the easier bits! I also sometimes just randomly pick up my guitar whilst I'm yew cutting or something in game, and try out some chord progressions, or right now I'm trying to learn Barre chords but they hurt my first finger like hell so every day I'll keep trying and one day I'll get the hang of it - that's how I learned to do normal chords anyway! ~Ian

I completely agree with Dogfever; classic films should never be turned into glossy hollywood remakes - they just don't work. Fair enough, I might be able to understand the remake of the Italian Job, even though I still hate it - but a rural film like The Wickerman just doesn't work in the modern day in a practically urban setting. I have no intention of going to see it. Christopher Lee > Nicholas Cage ~Ian

A great parent's guide at that. I had a read through it - of course I'm no parent - but I wanted to get an idea of the message it sends out to parents. All in all Jagex have done a great job with it. It sums up everything you might need to know about the game your child is playing, in a clear format, answering all the questions you might have asked. Again, well done Big J! ~Ian

I agree that internet tests should not be trusted, or at least it's very hard to find a reliable one. I'll try and find the link to the one that I took which seemed pretty fair to me. As far as offline tests go, if you go down to your local library and enquire - they often have specialist books (well, at least mine did anyway), which contain a number of IQ tests. Or be adventurous if you live in the UK and try the Test The Nation quiz on the BBC which they air annually - a suprisingly accurate test when you view the collated results at the end of the show. They show regional statistics across the country showing which regions have the best and worst average IQ results. It is easy to lie about your IQ, although it doesn't really serve any purpose to do so as you're only fooling yourself. Additionally, we are internet users guys - I suppose that has something to do with all these above average IQ results. If the teenagers that spend all their evenings hanging out around the shops smoking joints were to be tested, it would be quite the opposite I imagine - an IQ OVER 100 would be a rare sight. Remember IQ does factor in your age as Runesmithie said, because you have an optimum age at which you've learned as much as you can, and after that, becoming old means your brain starts to become slower and forgets a lot of things. ~Ian

Why do some people call low lvl's noobs for no reason?
Iantiger replied to dangeresque's topic in General Discussion
*bangs head against wall repeatedly* Wait we have a smiley for that... :wall: This has been discussed over and over again - so many topics on this subject! There's really not much to say. People call other people noobs because it's just become a pathetic mainstream insult suitable for when the person who is saying it can think of nothing more intelligent to say. ~Ian -
A whole month you say? I think I'd get all the Jagex staff to craft nats for me all day, every day. Let's say the average staffie makes 800 nats an hour, allowing time for a coffee/toilet break of 10 minutes per hour, and let's say there are 100 staff working at Jagex under my control. The average staff member works the 9-5 shift of 8 hours a day. All in all, that's 800 hours of labour a day I'm getting. Taking a standard 30 day month that gives me 30 x 800 hours of labour, which works out at... 24,000 hours of labour. 800 nats per hour, 24,000 hours gives me.. 19,200,000 natures! If I sell natures for 300gp each (which is pretty cheap considering what I've seen recently), I'm going to end up with... 19,200,000 x 300 which works out at a little under 6,000,000,000 (6 BILLION!) GP! *laughs manically* ~Ian

Nice haul! It's always nice when random people do great things! For instance, a couple of weeks ago I logged on one morning to nat craft at Edgeville, and I stumbled upon a level 124's trivia party. The guy must have been a billionaire! He was asking RS trivia and the person who got the answer fastest won something (whip, 2.5 mil, full dh, 10k deaths, 5k nats - any one of these things is just a sample of what you could win for answering a single question). I remember he asked "What did it say in RSClassic when you examined a post?" and of course, I remember that from days of old and yelled out "What am I examining posts for?". 3 hours later and over 100 people were there, and I was getting less and less stuff so I walked away with 3 whips, full dh, 2.5 mil and 10k deaths, having answered 6 questions correctly. That was a generous person, and the single luckiest day of my Runescape life. ~Ian

I too like to twist it to face the direction I'm going to, or if I'm training and my character is otherwise idle, I enjoy spinning the camera round and looking at the uber 3D-ness of my great character. I know - I'm weird. :( ~Ian

Tip.It Times Presents: Welcoming Home the Prodigal Children
Iantiger replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
Don't mean to be picky, and you can delete this specific post afterward, but I think you meant to use "crunching", not "cruncing"... Just trying to be nice and help. :D ~Mr. Devnull Ah, well done. You passed the um... test, yes that's it. A test. ~Ian -
That's true, but to be fair people are always skeptical of change, and take a while to embrace it. ~Ian

If the entire world was your's for an entire hour...

Exactly! Go and mine as much rune at heroes as I possibly can. In an hour, I should be able to get at least 200-300 if nobody else is online on any world. ~Ian -

I agree that people should be given a second chance, however I hold the belief that people, at the core, never change - and I think unbanning so many was a mistake. Perhaps some of them were immature and now may be more mature and allowed back on the forums, however for many this is not the case. For example, a couple of days after the mass-unbanning, many forum members who had publicized their email address, including myself, recieved a scam email, which looked extremely official. I'm sure the two incidents are related, and this article fails to mention it. On a side note, I can't wait till the next facts and figures article! I can't wait to get my teeth into some good old-skool number crunching! I know how the editor loves his stats! ~Ian -
Eventually RS3 is inevitably going to be made, because RS2 will become (and is already becoming) outdated by other games. The graphics look old, and no amount of updates can make them as good as existing games. Unless Runescape is left for dead - something I can't see with the profits Jagex are raking in atm - an update will happen. ~Ian

All tests that I've done recently - both online and on paper, have pointed to my IQ averaging at around 130. A little info for you all: IQ stands for Intelligence Quotation. The average score is 100, and always will be as this is part of what defines the 'IQ test'. If the human race starts to become more intelligent, the test will become harder so that the average score will remain at 100. Because tests are approximations, judging your IQ on one result is silly. You should take several and find the average. Tests require your full concentration and you shouldn't be multi-tasking whilst undertaking one. The following are approximations and you will find controversy over the exact boundaires: The majority of people will score between 90-110. Only 5% of people score 125 or more. Only 5% of people score 75 or less. Only 1% of people score 130 or more. People in the top 2% are qualified to join the MENSA organisation. People in the top 0.0001% are qualified to join the MEGA organisation, requiring an IQ of around 172 to fall into this percentile! IQ tests are accurate, but don't necessarily measure all forms of intelligence, and have a strong bias towards people with symbolic intelligence - i.e. recognition, remembrance, so just because you score low, it doesn't mean you're particularly stupid, although it's a pretty good pointer :P ~Ian

I think I read an excerpt from Wikipedia which described Runescape as a 'lifestyle' rather than just a game, which is a little creepy, but true when you think about it. A lot of people spend much more of their spare time on it than all other activities put together. It's perfectly easy to lead both a great social life and still have plenty of time left over for Runescaping. What I've found though personally, is that Runescape makes you a more detached/independant person, and spending too much time on it doesn't give your social side a chance to develop properly, resulting in perhaps being a more timid and shy person. ~Ian

How Long Do You Play Runescape (Creation Of Ur Main)
Iantiger replied to thephat's topic in General Discussion
I started January around 2002 - I can't be 100% sure of that, but my calculations mean that I must have started in January of 2002, give or take a month, so I'm coming up to my 5th Anniversary in a few months ^_^ And yet I'm only 1550-ish skill total and 108 combat. Highest skill is 87. The reason I'm so slow to level is probably due to the large number of breaks I've taken from the game, some spanning several months, and the reason I'm so poor is because I'm a bad merchant, and I make bad moneymaking decisions... i.e. Buying purple p hat for 3 mil... selling for a whip when whip was 11 mil. And before you ask, that was when purples were WORTH that much - I didn't do it yesterday or anything..., but I wish I'd held onto it  ~Ian -
Here there be Dragons (Taken from RS forums)
Iantiger replied to Sirgatory's topic in General Discussion
Great topic. I felt exactly the same way when I started runescape. Everything was so new, and of course there was no tutorial island back then, no newcomer's map, so exploring really was delightful! I remember trying to use the river as a means of finding my way around, and it must have taken at least 2 weeks of playing for me to get any bearings whatsoever. The first route I memorized was the way from Varrock to Lumbridge, and then eventually to Falador. Those were good times! Alas those dragons have now gone. But one thing that really does lower this article's quality is the way everyone who doesn't play the game for these 'dragons' is labelled as scum and filth. That's a very ignorant thing to say. People enjoy the game in different ways and to think there's just one way to play it is naive and greatly lowers my respect for the author, for using such harsh and nasty words against people who have done nothing to deserve them. ~Ian -

Some guy died in Blurite caves to an Ice Giant or Warrior I believe. Dropped a rune scimmy and I was over the moon. ~Ian -
Well you didn't stay here long did you? Have a good life but secretly... I think you'll be back! ~Ian

Amusing how you have fluffy little hatched animals in your sig. Not very apt for an evil henchman of Zamorak is it? For myself, I like to wear Full Infinity and wield my Abyssal Whip with my Guthixian Book Of Balance. ~Ian

Sept. 11th Remembrance V (Details Inside)
Iantiger replied to ZidaneCT's topic in General Discussion
My personal feelings are that those who lost their lives in such tragic events are best laid to rest, rather than resurrecting their memories each year, and for that reason I regret to say that I will not be attending. I am also aggravated that people only think to remember those who lost their lives in one such incident. When was the last time you heard of a memorial being held for the 7/7 attacks on London, although a fewer number of fatalities were sustained, that doesn't make their loss of life any less important. I'll stop now because I don't want to cause an argument with anyone, and I hope the remembrance service goes well. ~Ian -
Thanks for the fantastic advice everyone, I'll consider what you've all said and choose the best alternative. ~Ian

I've always kept all my stats equal, but then again I'm no pker or dueler. At the moment I'm 86 att, 85 str, 85 def. This principle has always served me well in general Runescaping, but I suppose if you pk regularly then you might want to think about lowering that defence. ~Ian
